After moving to the East Bay from Southern California, I am quickly finding out the following three things when it comes to food: 1. The food here generally sucks outside of the Berkeley area ("The City" aka San Francisco is not the East Bay for all you geographically-challenged people). 2. The restaurants here are overhyped and overrated by Yelpers. Talk about grading on a curve for living in a culinary wasteland filled with every chain restaurant imaginable. 3. The food is overpriced by like fucking 20-30%. I mean the other day I saw a taco truck in San Ramon selling tacos at $3 each. Sure, you are selling to rich gringos, but ¡que lastima! that shit is highway robbery. Back to Blossom Bee... which falls under Category #2 as in overhyped and overrated by Yelpers. The wife wanted to try this place because she likes crêpes and Thai food and this place serves both. So you know, murder two birds with one stone or what not... Normally, this style of Southeast Asian meets French cuisine fusion is done by Vietnamese restaurants. So when she described to me that it was a Thai place, I was like shit, why not? When we showed up on a weekday for lunch the place was pretty full. So we thought, whoa, this place must be good. However, something in the back of my mind was like, why are there no Asians eating here? We walked in and stood aimlessly for a minute before the not-so-friendly server told us to sit at any empty seat. Then, she brought us some menus and so we studied it for awhile. The wife wanted to try a Thai crêpe so she settled for the Massaman curry crêpe while I was feeling more O.G. So I looked up on their chalk menu and saw that on Tuesdays, Wednesdays, and Thursdays, they serve Pad Thai. I guess that is when the Thai chef is available or something? And since we had come on a Tuesday, that's what I decided to get. Then we waited... and waited... and waited... sure Blossom Bee was busy, but it was not to the level of "busy bee-level-10-über-waspy-hornet-status". Anyways, when I was finally able to flag her down, I asked her what the heck "Massaman" was because I had never encountered this before at any other Thai restaurant. Rather than give us an explanation, she hesitated, looked around, and then rudely pointed at the diner next to us and said "Massaman is what she is eating." The wife and I were like what-the-fuck and wanted to defuse the awkwardness quickly so we said, okay okay we'll have the Massaman curry crêpe with chicken and a chicken Pad Thai. After some research, in other words, Wikipedia, it turns out Massaman curry is a Muslin-inspired curry dish that was based on an interpretation of a Persian dish. It is curry seasoned with coconut milk, cinnamon and other shit mixed with potatoes and protein. Therefore, it turned out that we had just ordered a fusion-fusion dish... where double fusion turned out to be double trouble more than double the fun. Anyways, when our order came out, I was struck at how brown and unappetizing my wife's Massaman curry crêpe looked. The Massaman curry with chicken, carrots and potato chunks on top of the brown crêpe looked like my shits after a rough night in Vegas. It would have been nice if there had been some cilantro or lime wedges or something other than the color of shit to break up the monotone brownness. But shit (pun intended), what do I know? Moreover, there was hardly any curry on her crêpe! My wife tasted her dish and I instantly knew she hated it. Then I tried her crêpe and could see why. Honestly, compared to all the tasty Thai curries out there like panang, red, and green, Massaman curry should just be called Messed-Up-Man curry as in, we messed up man by ordering this or this curry is messed up man. MEHHHHHH. The Pad Thai that I ordered was forgettable because the taste was unauthentic and lacked all the umami flavors that are typical of Thai food: bitter, sweet, salty, sour, savory, spicy... and dare I say it, sexy because there were no nuts on this dish... as in peanuts. I think this review is going to get flagged... Look, all I could think about was how the food at Blossom Bee tasted like it had been gringofied for the San Ramon/Dublin crowd. This notion was reinforced when I asked for hot sauce and the server responded with the following options in exact order: Tabasco, Tapatio, or Sriracha... Seriously? After lunch we grabbed some coffee and then we went to that building over on Dublin Boulevard that is like a Mini-Chinatown to get some real Asian food. That is when we realized where all the Asians in Dublin were dining at... FML! read more

I was excited to hear they had gluten free crepes. We decided to try it. We arrived at 5:15 on a Friday night. We were the only customers the entire time we were there. I ordered the Bee one with a buckwheat crêpe, mild. I thought it was very tasty. I really like the crêpe. It had a lot of feeling. The pesto sauce was a little bit spicier than I expected for mild. My husband had the Massaman with chicken, hot. He enjoyed it but said it was close to too hot. It had lots of gravy. I was disappointed that our meals were not served at the same time. Mine came out about 5 minutes before my husbands. There were at least two people in the kitchen in addition to the waitress. We needed to ask for more water. I was introduced to this place by a friend. We took our toddlers with us to check out this popular place. I like the corner seat by the window. It had a bench resting by the window with throw pillows that gave it a homely feel. They have a wide variety of Crepes to choose from sweet and savory. They also had fruit shakes, which were quite enticing. It's the first place I have ever been that offers savory crepes with a Thai twist. I tried their Royal Chicken Crepe and my friend had the Chicken Pesto Crepe. Both came in large and generous portions. The texture of the crepe was commendable. For the kids, we ordered plain crepe and the Nutella crepe. They all loved it. The kids particularly enjoyed the casual ambience with a touch of mom and and pop shop feel. This place has a lot of character and style. It's a great place to get good food and a good time with family and friends. I really don't know what the hype is of this place. Everyone seems to want to go here. I was even excited to come here. They have so many different creeps and different variety! I was excited. I chose a savory crepe and I shared a dessert crepe with my friend. The dessert one was ok. They can definitely fill up the creeps more. Also, they don't give you much ice cream. A fellow friend and yelper had been craving crepes since we last met up and well, today was the day to satisfy that craving. Also helped that I was working out of San Ramon that morning. So there we were and of course I grabbed our friend to come with us too. So the three musketeers went to grab some crepes. Blossom Bee is in a little plaza next to Johnny's Donuts and behind a Jack in the Box. It was quite quiant inside. Plenty of tables, but a group of 8 might be a little difficult if you're hitting the main lunch hour. Blossom Bee is another crepe/thai fusion location which I've seen sprout up here and there across the bay area. My cohorts chose curry crepes whereas I chose the Bangkok crepe. Not sure what I was expecting, but there was a list of interesting ingredients so I said..well why not? We got our side salad (you could also get a side of soup). The dressing was sweet, tangy, mustardy and quite delicious. We then got our crepes and they were quite sizeable. The curry crepes have a spice rating. Mild was nice, medium had a nice kick. I can only imagine hot or fire! My crepe had no spice and it was filled with lots of fresh veggies and slices of beef. The crepe itself had a nice sweetness. The only gripe I had was probably the fish sauce that premeated all over and made the bottom of the crepe soggy. Both my friend and I thought that maybe it would've been better to just put the ingredients in a spring roll with the sauce for dipping, but well where's the exoticness of that? This small little spot was so soo good!!! Omg. Tastes like authentic Thai food and it's reasonably priced. We ordered: * Massaman chicken Thai crepe ($8.99) omg. Where have I been my whole life without this!! The crepes were made perfectly with the blend of the mild curry sauce on top. SOOO good! Must try * Custom crepe with strawberries, whipped cream, and chocolate ($7.75) Again, the crepe was perfectly fluffy and soft. Definitely do not miss out on trying this place out. This hidden gem is so delicious I selfishly don't want more diners to find it!! It's really small so sometimes I have to get my meal to go but, that's fine with me. I love that they have gluten free crepes with savory fillings. It's the only place I've had thai basil chicken, etc in a crepe and it is soooo yummy!!! Everything tastes so fresh. Came here for brunch on a Saturday with a group of 7 and had a great experience. The service was very friendly and for a team of 2 or 3, moved quickly! Blossom Bee has a HUGE variety of crepes. Breakfast crepes, savory crepes, Thai curry filled crepes, and dessert crepes. The reason why I chose this spot was because I saw their Mango Coco Crepe! I loveeee mango sticky rice and this crepe is filled with coconut shreds and coconut sticky rice, then topped with fresh mango and served with a side of ice cream and whipped cream (which I asked to be put of the side - my bestfriend enjoyed eating ice cream for breakfast LOL). My bf ordered their Masaman Curry Crepe and it was pretty good. Just a heads up, choosing beef as the protein inside adds a dollar to the dish (its not stated on the menu). Ordered to-go for Blossom Bee over the phone for Thursday lunch! We ordered a Thai basil crepe to share between two people. The crepe was extremely well made and the filling of bell peppers, onions, basil, and chicken was DELICIOUS and very flavorful. The plate also came with a small side of salad, which was not anything special but nice to have on the side. It is definitely a lot for one person, but not enough to fill up two. I really liked Blossom Bee when I went here for a birthday luncheon with friends. We all have different preferences--a vegetarian, a frou frou on a budget, a fruit craving, and a savory craving. This hit all the right spots, both in terms of menu offerings, portion sizes, and pricing. Parking was easy. In terms of what we ordered: Vegetarian: Veggie Yellow Savory: Seafood Stromboli Fruit Craving: Fruity Bee Frou Frou on a Budget: Butter & sugar toast with bacon and eggs Why only three stars if we liked the food? Well, the dishes came out one-by-one, and there was at least a 10 minute wait between the first dish and the last dish served. Secondly, it was a chilly day, and that door would not stay closed! It was really obnoxious to be blown constantly by patrons, and one of my guests had to fix the door to close it. (Read: the management was not able to or simply did not want to fix it.) Lastly, the tea selection was unimpressive to me (but this is sort of normal). So, the service and experience knocks down the overall score. read more

The food here is delicious and the owners/staff are so sweet and helpful. They are only doing takeout service now with outside tables, which is not a problem. I support small businesses! This is a great little creperie. I was excited to finally taste one of their crepes today. I made my own concotion of strawberries, nutella, ice cream and whipped cream. It was huge! I should have shared but I didn't. The total was $6.59. One little note, I wish the crepe was more fluffy and less chewy. This place is located in one of the older, unrenovated, shopping plaza's in Dublin. But nonetheless it is next to 2 great eateries- Copper Skillet and Los Pericos. She told us to sit at a certain table, but we decided to get the booth to which she said they're saving the spot for IFF a larger party walked in, which I thought was weird to say when the "bigger party" didn't even exist at the time of our arrival. The side salad was the perfect addition. Thai Basil Rice Plate, 5/5. It comes with a side of white rice and salad, both perfect amounts to be proportional to the curry. We also got the only 2 soup options on the menu...both delicious. Again, the level of spicy was just right for my taste buds. I'd recommend requesting mild spicy if you're not used to spicy food. (The reason for the 4/5 stars was the hair I found in my soup..eww! Food was very subpar and service was incredibly rude. There's no indoor dining, just tables on the patio with paper plates and plastic utensils. Adorable space, but since I eked into Blossom Bee a half hour before closing, I decided to order take-out rather than be that customer who feels entitled to a leisurely, full-service meal just because she slides in the door thirty seconds before the staff flips the "Come in, we're open" sign over to "Sorry, we're closed." Never dawdle and incur the staff's wrath. Ordered beef pad see ew, spicy eggplant with pork, and Thai basil with chicken lunch specials. Although the meats were overcooked (I suspect they are pre-cooked, so reheating them through so especially late in the lunch service would do that), the vegetables were fresh and done perfectly. Thought the balance of oyster sauce/soy sauce/sugar a bit off in the pad see ew and was hoping for more broccoli (here they use actual broccoli rather than gai lan/Chinese broccoli). That's right, I said it, you can order your favorite Thai dishes here in a crepe. You can also order savory traditional crepes. This restaurant is located in a strip mall that looks like it made the 70's stand still in Dublin but do not be fooled. This place serves up some yummy food in small quarters so make sure you get here before noon for a week day lunch. They serve up some delicious Thai iced coffee as well as Thai iced tea. Make sure to flag your server down when you want more water. It can sometimes seems scarce. Overall, this place has some fun ways to "spice" up your Thai dishes and also has the traditional meals you will love. Head on over to Blossom Bee... early for lunch because maybe, when I am heading over after 11:30, I realize every time that I am going to wait for a table :) read more

Big tip: don't go on a Sunday afternoon. Every time my family and I try to go here then, we'd find it super packed and impossible to get a table. We've started coming in on Saturdays, and it's much less crowded. Service can still be a little slow at times; don't expect this to be a grab-and-go spot. But if you're looking to dine and chat with family or friends, have no other plans, and don't want to feel rushed, this is a good place to go (again, not on a Sunday, in my experience). The interior is cute and cozy, too. I love their crepes, especially their savory ones, and haven't had a bad one so far. My favorite there is their Bee Signature (smoked salmon, cream cheese, dill, spinach, tomato, red onions, capers, pesto). Though recently I shared with my mom their Fruity Bee (cinnamon apple, cranberries, banana, pecans, honey, cottage cheese.) and their Wake Up Call (chicken apple sausage, scrambled eggs, roasted chili, onions, cheddar), and it was so good. The spinach and mushroom were drowned in all the cheese, but you can still taste the texture. Filling, delicious, great for lunch. My co-workers and I were squinting at the tiny pictures of the menu uploaded by Yelpers in a lame attempt to order to go. Ended up going to the place instead. Going here was definitely a unique experience, I think most of us can say that we've never had Thai food served in a crepe! The staff was very attentive right when we stepped in and we were able to get a table in 10 min on a Saturday afternoon. I ordered the Seafood Stromboli and my boyfriend got the Bangkok even though our friends told us that the green curry crepe was the way to go. The Seafood Stromboli was super cheesy and heavy. The cheese pull was real. I would highly recommend if you have a large appetite, because I personally couldn't finish it no matter how much I enjoyed it. The flavors went together really well. The Bangkok had more traditional Thai flavors. It was good too, but the beef was a little too well done for my liking. Lastly, we ordered the mango coco crepe, because how can you not order mango sticky rice at a Thai restaurant for dessert?! It came out warm with a side of vanilla ice cream on the side. Pieces of mango were placed on the top and snuggled in between the crepe and warm sticky rice. The pieces of coconut were sprinkled through the sticky rice. Even though I was stuffed, it was worth trying this refreshing dessert! I wish the crepe was a little softer and less flakey, but the flavors were a really great finale to our meal. read more
