Excellent Food. Not much for the kids though. If you have a picky person make sure they watch what they eat and tell them to check what ingredients are on the sandwich's. We ordered a spartichoke and a Grilled Indigo. The chicken was well done and tasted heavenly. The spartichoke was delicious (according to my wife.) The only problem with blue baker is the fact that their "regular" size sandwich is too small for how tasty it is. I definitely recommend those two sandwiches; I have yet to try a few more there. read more

The fresh baked bread is so delicious! I've tried a few selections and so far love the Jalapeno Cheese and Blueberry Peach. I've tried lunch there once, and wasn't super impressed by the Blue Tejas sandwich I ordered. Too much hot sauce for me, and I love spice. On the plus side, the turkey was good quality. Sandwiches & personal pizza choices are pretty standard fare. Breakfast items are generous. The hazelnut mocha latte is usually very good. However be aware of substitution charges! Three times this year we incurred extra charges -- A $2.00 charge was applied for ordering a pizza with half one topping and half of another; on another visit, there was an extra charge for requesting a half-serving of the egg breakfast plate; and on the last visit, the sandwich charge was upped $1.25 for a bread substitution. Counter help should be advised to inform customers of such up-charges before an order is submitted. read more

I visited this Blue Baker location for lunch today, and it was moderately busy but not overwhelming. I ordered a baked sandwich, specifically the grilled vegetable sandwich and without pesto. After my buzzer went off saying my order was ready, I went up to retrieve it and was just stared at for a few minutes then had to ask employees for my sandwich. They said it was not ready yet, although the buzzer had gone off, so I waited. I then returned a second time to retrieve my sandwich after my buzzer went off again. There was another woman grabbing her grilled vegetable sandwich, and I picked up mine (after an employee turned around and ran into me not paying attention) and returned to my seat to find the order was not correct. I went over to correct it, and was informed they had run out of the bread, after not paying attention to who was picking up what order, and that the bread my sandwich was incorrectly grilled on was their last slices. The bread had also been burned in the oven. Substituted for another bread and was not satisfied. Will never be returning. read more

Had the regular Indigo oven-baked sandwich here at the Dominik location. I was disappointed with how this sandwich was constructed. It didn't have an even spread of ingredients that I'm used to. It was not cut properly and most of my ingredients fell out of the sandwich as I picked it up. Staff was great but meal prep not so much. read more

I love Blue Baker and have lunch there frequently. While I am not a big fan of the all blue decor, the sandwiches are very good. The fresh baked bread entices me into taking home a loaf on most visits, so on my next visit my fan card will be full and I get a free loaf. The pizza is the most authentically Italian that I have had anywhere on this side of the Atlantic Ocean. The pizza features the bread, with the toppings added in moderation. Guests from out of town tend to rave at Blue Baker. We sometimes split the brownies four ways. read more

I have been eating at Blue Bakers for years & recommending it to everyone. After moving to Houston 9 years ago, I still continued to eat there each time I came to town. The two things I found truly unique and that brought me back again & again were the parmesan bread bowls and the choice of anchovies in the Caesar salad. I ate there last week and simply cannot believe they discontinued the most special thing they had - the parmesan bread bowls. missin' Blue Baker now that I'm no longer just 15 minutes away from it! huge fan of: the caprese sandwich (capreses I make myself just aren't the same -- must be the bread), the Neapolitan pizza (the most California-like I've yet had in Texas), and the pumpkin bread. the latter is honestly one of the best things I've ever eaten in my life. really, all the daily breads are great (as I've mostly gleaned from...all the samples I've tried). additional things to try here: 1) the white pizzas are excellent, and that's coming from a tomato-sauce kind of girl; 2) the baby Brutus salad is as adorable and light as it sounds, until you remember that it'll grow up to stab Caesar; 3) the cookies (especially the iced sugar cookies) are /amazing/ and I could probably eat ten in a sitting; 4) studying on a saturday. read more

Blue baker is alright. I have ordered the Quattro Carne pizza a few times from their Dominik Dr. location. The pizzas that I have gotten have thin crusts with an average amount of toppings. I typically order out since the restaurant's atmosphere isn't that great but I would still go back for the pizza because it still beats most other places around town. read more

I'd love to say that I love this place. It's local, its a deli and it's convenient. But, it is too expensive for what you get, their food has gone down over time. They used to offer a crunchy parmesan cheese bowl with your salad, then it went to little parmesan cheese crunchy wedges, then it went to just a salad, then it went to a smaller salad with a larger price. The bread is good and so are the pastries, but the sandwiches are, well just so so. They need to add a little something to their food, it just doesn't grab me. Horrible pick up service! I am very aware that the employees there are often rude; however, instead of improving they are getting worse. Today I placed an order for a sandwich and side salad on the telephone, the worker told me it would be ready in 5-10 minutes. I drove to blue baker and noticed they were not busy, the parking lot was not full and no one was at the pick up area. I sat in the pick up area and waited over 30 minutes. My one year old and 2 month old started screaming after 20 minutes. I waited 10 more minutes and then decided to pull up and nicely question the associates about my order. They were the rudest 2 ladies I have ever spoke to in my life. Being that I had already paid for my order they were still happy to cancel it and never offered to even go check on the order for me. Blue baker has alright food but they treat you like shit and are totally annoyed with any questions you may have....they definitely do NOT value customer service. read more

This place is outstanding. Great sandwiches, great pastries, and strong, reasonably-priced artisan breads. If you're a bakery fan, this is the place at which you should stop in College Station. Also, as a sidenote, this is where I've met the most New Jersey people around here. So, based on anecdotal evidence, I would say that transplanted tri-staters will feel more at home at the Blue Baker than in most parts of B/CS. I hope that doesn't sound condescending to Texans... As one of the few places in town where you can get a bacon, egg, and cheese breakfast sandwich, I come here a few times a month and order just that and a coffee. Having originally been from NY, I know what a real bagel tastes like, and let's just say, Blue Baker's bagels are no NY bagel. However, they are tasty and the combination of the bacon, egg, and cheese taste good. It's also nice they give you a choice of cheese - I recommend getting the provolone. The 2 major downsides are the lack of a real fresh egg - they use some warmed up scrambled egg conglomerate (they really should do eggs to order), and the price. For a breakfast sandwich and a coffee, it's $6. In New York, for the same thing, it costs in the $4-$5 range. Also, a plus side is their coffee - while they don't have a big selection (on a regular day it's a house blend, a sumatra blend, and a decaf), the house and sumatra blends are really good. I've also been to Blue Baker many times for lunch. I really enjoy their soups, but the sandwiches aren't really my thing. I think they try to make them too fancy and the flavor combinations are weird together. All together, 3/5 stars, but it doesn't stop me from coming here. read more

Without question, the best breads in BCS. We have also been eating the sandwiches here since 2002 and, frankly, they need to be updated (or "redated" if there is such a word). For example, the "Blue Bird" sandwich was once something truly special -- chicken salad with pine nuts and other great stuff. No more. Now it is just a very boring chicken salad sandwich. Likewise, the original BLT with Caesar dressing instead of Mayo has been "dumbed down" to a plain old BLT (unless you know to ask for something better!). Seems the management is afraid to try innovative foods any more, and that is a real shame. read more

Very disappointed. My wife n I ordered two pizzas with the anticipation of a great pizza. Boy, they were both BURNT, black on the bottom, dry to the bone. If I could I'd upload the pics I took with the email I sent to the blue baker office. Never got a response or it knowledge to my email, nothing. We used this restaurant for catering recently and they were outstanding! The sandwiches and fruit were very fresh, the brownies and desserts were amazing. We received lots of compliments on the quality of food. Service was also Great. Food was delivered on time and well presented. The price was reasonable too, which was a bonus. read more

i like Blue Baker. I like that they make good breads and a a local company that seems to have some morals. I wish however, that they'd change whatever it is that makes the crust on their bread so freaking hard that it almost breaks your teeth. Their breakfast is pretty good, they make a pretty good bagel sandwich. Their everything bagel is far from the best i've had, the toppings need some work as they are not in good balance and taste a bit burned. I have to agree with another reviewer that it's unfortunate theres so few places to get a fresh made bagel in BCS, and that the bagels here aren't anywhere near as good as those found in New York. The quality of the ingredients though is pretty good. I have been a long time customer and recommend that everyone give them a try to support a locally owned company. I really hope that one day College Station will be rid of all the Chilis and other low quality, overpriced chains you see littering the city. read more

The smoked salmon salad is excellent. Fresh romaine, thinly sliced salmon and red onion rings, sun-dried tomatoes, capers, fresh shredded Parmesan cheese with Caesar dressing. Could not have been better! Couldn't resist ordering a dozen WARM chocolate chip cookies. Tasted like I baked them myself. Really, they are to die for...I highly recommend them. I should have known better than to come here for coffee and a late lunch. The lady at the counter messed up my order, forgot to add the coffee, and the YELLED at me while at the register that I was STEALING the chips. I told her that I wanted the combo with coffee, an offer that was indicated at the register. She acted out with another customer soon after, so I suppose that is just how customer service works here. The sandwich was fine, but the coffee was cold and tasted like coffee grounds that had been left in the garbage. The floors are dirty, the coffee station is a mess, and the music is too loud to concentrate. I was one of four patrons, so I am certain there would be time to sweep up the spilled salad under my table and smeared tomato across the main area, among other neglected spots. I had visited here last year with a group and was unimpressed... so, this is the second and final chance for this place. I have avoided ordering from them for department and organization events because of that initial experience and I will continue to do so. read more
