I found Summerville Nutrition on Yelp. It wasn't too far away so I decided to give it a shot. I'm so glad I did. I've been to a couple places like this before and I wasn't all that impressed. This place, however, is different. I ordered the Brownie Batter Shake. Omg this thing was so good. It tasted like a regular milkshake, but of course, it's filled with nutrients such as protein. It's supposed to be a meal replacement. I finished the shake before I even got home. I had to run by the bank on the way but I wasn't out that long. I was surprised I drank it so fast. I ended up ordering one of their teas also. I got a Pink Flamingo Collagen Tea. It's supposed to be rainbow candy and cotton candy flavored. This drink was good, however I didn't finish it. It was very flavorful and sweet with a bit of tartness to it. It tasted good but I think it was a bit too much for me. The sign says grand opening but apparently they've been open a few months. They just haven't gotten a real sign yet. The inside is pretty plain. They could fit a few small tables in there. There's nowhere really to sit besides the bar by where you place your order. Overall, I think this place is worth trying. The shake was really good. The tea was good too. They could use more seating and a sign. But all together, I'd recommend.

So then I had to order it at the counter and then their scanner wasn't working or their payment processing which further delayed everything. At this point I hoped that they would've just offered to take care of my smoothie at this point with all the issues and inconveniences that have occurred. But the girl didn't offer any discount or anything either, but instead had me wait for their system to reload and charge me the full amount. I do understand that there are technical issues that happen out of anyone's control, but I couldn't help but think that they missed out on an opportunity to recover from my current experience. I do also find their pricing lately has been quite steep. $10 for a smoothie seems a bit high. Not sure if I will come back to this location.

The woman working said that the ones on the left were monthly specials and the ones on the right were always available. I chose one of the monthly specials, Chocolate Covered Strawberry. It's just one day before Valentine's Day. I got my shake and it looked so cute. It had strawberry syrup swirled in the cup so it looked striped with the red syrup and the brown of the chocolate in the shake. She gave me whipped cream with red heart shaped sprinkles on top. How sweet. I loved the presentation. The woman working was very nice. The shake tastes good. I recommend.

The service was a bit slower this time and it took longer for us to get our food. We ordered some of their specialty coffees, which came in these cute mugs and glasses. We ordered the giant huevos rancheros platter to share and it truly did take up almost the entire table lol. They put all the toppings in separate dishes so you could build your own essentially. This was a lot of food and we had plenty leftover. This could've fed 4-5 people! The only disappointing thing about this was that we didn't get any steak as shown on the menu and just chicken. When we mentioned it the server who was very nice but didn't speak much English said she told us but I was completely unaware. Everything still tasted good but we did wish there was some steak along with the chicken. The French toast dish was decadent and sweet, but the bread itself was moist and crispy on the edges. There was a small discrepancy at the end with our bill because the price of the platter didn't match what was on the receipt. They were unable to adjust it but gave us a gift card for the balance. We had somewhere else to be and had to rush through our meal. Because of the long wait and frustration, I honestly can't say whether the food was amazing or not, it was overshadowed by the experience. The service itself was okay, and the atmosphere was okay, but neither made up for the excessive wait. We also overheard the table next to us, a party of two, talking about how they had already been waiting 40 minutes for their food, so it was clear we weren't the only customers frustrated by the delays. For a first visit, this was a very poor impression. We understand that busy restaurants can have longer wait times, but better communication and more realistic expectations would have gone a long way. Unfortunately, this experience was enough that it will most likely be our first and last visit.

During the times I made it earlier in the morning, there was less of a line (or no line). Dog friendly on the front and back patios. Lots of wine and local products for sale. I wish I had an Odd Duck Market near me, but I'll just have to make do with visiting when I'm in the North Charleston area!
