Hubby wanted to check out this place after having a full meal. So we had coffee here but decided to bring home a treat for breakfast the next day. This place has history and is larger then expected. It was Halloween so they had a trick or treat coffee- which turned out to be barista choice. I think she did half pumpkin spice and half mocha and while it may not sound great, it hit all the right buttons. They have ice cream here, coffees and bakery items. Ok... so I don't post this lightly - Blue Corn makes fresh pumpkin tarts. My niece got one for me, and I try it, not thinking much of it only to be stunned with my first bite... NO BS - it is LITERALLY the BEST pumpkin dessert I've ever put in my mouth... EVER! And yes, I have legit reasons why - I was so obsessed with the beauty of this dessert, I wrote a list. (I didn't take a picture of its beauty, but I had to write this review because I swear - it is truly the best... like addictingly great.) So here goes: 1. The pumpkin filling = absolutely amazing. It's sweet, but not too sweet. It's perfect in density, beautifully balanced with spices. It's utterly delicious - like I can't really explain how perfect it is, but it legitimately was 100% on point. 3. The CRUST!! Absolutely divine!! 1st, I'm not a huge fan of crust that is so flaky it breaks off all over the place. This crust? Not 1 crumb but perfectly blended in flavor as well as consistency. It held the filling in so perfectly so every bite was literally exactly the same - through and through, all thanks to the crust. 3. My favorite part - the whipped cream ratio (both in amount as well as sweetness, firmness, and contrast ratio to the pumpkin was incredible. When you bite into this amazing dessert, the whipped cream being so firm (but not too much) is the perfect topping. Go GET IT!! read more

I might have a new favorite local bakery. This place blew my mind. I had quiche and a muffin for breakfast, both of which were amazing and fresh. And they kept giving me samples of things! And then I had to buy those things, dammit! Chocolate chip cookie? Perfect. Lemon bar? Rich, buttery, subtly tart, wonderful. Sourdough bread? OMG. It was so fresh and tender, and not super sour; just a hint of the sourdough flavor. I'm gonna have to try to discipline myself the next time I go there. Was my second time in and both times went very similar, first time was a little slower it was a weekday, but today, a Saturday, it was so busy and I still managed to get my coffee and food quick. The food here was absolutely AMAZING! There was a small line when we came in, and I'm so happy there was. While we were waiting, we were constantly given samples of freshly baked goods. We tried an original sourdough slice, a cheddar jalepeno slice, a warm chocolate muffin, and a warm zucchini muffin. We ended up buying everything that we were given a sample of. I grabbed a caprese sandwich up front they they offered to hot press for me on the panini grill (she read my mind). From there I asked about the coconut muffin and they took one fresh off the hot rack and pulled a piece of one for me to try (what is this sorcery??). I bought 2. The coffee was divine and when I showed hesitation about trying the strawberry s'mores latte, they told me that if I didn't like it, then they would make me something else. I finished my hording with a lemon cookie that I wish I could clone. I loved hearing about the 18 hr Kyoto drip cold brew and the 100 year old sourdough starter in the jalapeño cheddar bread, which were both top tier. In a world where real customer service and quality is dead, you restored my faith in what could be. I felt like family coming into your shop and I dont say that lightly. Let me tell you guys about the best yet most underrated bakery and cafe! We were walking around downtown glendale and there we saw a bakery we had never seen before. We went inside and the bakery was way bigger than we thought, it was a calm place to be and it smelled delicious in there. As we made our way through the front door the owner welcomed us in and asked an employee to get us some free samples. We had a sample of the "Ube Muffin" and it was moist, fluffy and very tasty. After the sample, we started looking for what we wanted to order. The employees, including the owner were working and they were very nice and friendly to us. The bakery is very welcoming in my experience. They also had a large variety of pastries that included pies, cookies, muffins, cinnamon rolls, cupcakes, tiramisu, cakes, fresh homemade sourdough and many others. We decided on the "Chocolate Muffin" it sounds like it would be a simple dessert but the taste and texture of the muffin was incredible. It's a pretty big muffin and definitely worth the price, $5.55 for a muffin might seem like a lot, but it's a high quality muffin and you can't really argue about the price because it's really good. Anyways, as we headed out with our muffin the owner runs up to us and hands us a whole muffin for free! He gave us a "Lemon Blueberry Muffin with streusel", It was delicious and this is a bakery we will definitely be coming back to, even if it's just for a muffin. I happened to be in downtown Glendale and was really craving something sweet. I used to go to Blue Corn Bakery when I was in the area and knew it would be the perfect place to satisfy my cravings. The bakery is so clean, cute, neat. I was greeted warmly and offered a sample of their sourdough and zucchini bread right off the bat. They were warm, flavorful and delicious--it was better than I remembered! I was absolutely giddy! I'm your typical cheesecake or cupcake kind of girl but once I tried that zucchini cake, I was sold! I got that, along with a coffee cake, carrot cake (with the most amazing frosting!!), and a lemon blueberry muffin. Everything was out of this world! I brought it home to share with my family and at the speed and gusto with which we ate everything, you'd think we hadn't eaten in days! I don't have any pictures for that reason but just hop onto their IG page if you need a feast for the eyes! If you're lucky enough to have Nick help you, you're in for a double-treat! He is so friendly, generous and kind. From his warm greeting, sample giving, and giving me fun facts about their baked goods, his friendly demeanor just made the experience at Blue Corn Bakery that much better!
