We ordered the Carne Asada burrito and Mixto Salad. We also shared a Mother Road IPA with our meal. First to arrive was complementary chips and salsa, which was excellent. Fresh and crispy chips and salsa with a little bite. Our server Joe was very friendly and attentive. Our mains arrived about 20 minutes later. The carne asada burrito was delicious. Meat was flavorful and juicy. Accompanied by rice, black beans and a roasted jalapeño. Loved the roasted jalapeño! My friend enjoyed the Mixto Salad, a hearty vegetarian meal with romaine lettuce, black beans, avocados, tomatoes in a nice cilantro line avocado dressing. Hubby & I had a late dinner here while staying the night at the hotel for my birthday. You get waters & chips with 2 salsas to start. The chips were flavorless. The mild (red) salsa was good. The other salsa has a back heat that finally caught up with hubby, & he loves spicy. Hubby ordered a create your own margarita. I forget the name of it, then he added pineapple & a shooter of Curacao. He's a beer drinker for the most part, but enjoys a margarita every now & again. One margarita did the trick, & he had a buzz. We ordered the queso. It wasn't anything special as it had no flavor. It was supposed to have green chilies in it, but the only thing green in it was the green onions on top. Our server told us about the stuffed poblano pepper with hamburger & cheese, served with jalapeño rice. He said it was spicy. Hubby loved it, but said it wasn't spicy at all. I had the tacos loco. It's cheese rolled in a flour tortilla and crispy. It comes with a jalapeño cream on top. I do not do spicy at all. It was a little spicy for me, but not too bad. We had excellent service! We arrived in Scottsdale a bit too early to check in to our hotel so we decided to pass time here at the Talking Stick Casino and ended up having dinner at the Blue Coyote. The service here was great! The staff were friendly, the food was good, and they offer complimentary chips and salsa--which was actually very tasty. The ambience was amazing: everything was decorated for Christmas, and there was a DJ playing upstairs, which made the whole experience really fun. We originally came in just to grab a burrito to go because we had a bad experience at Tosh and our family decided they was so annoyed they didn't want any casino restaurant food and we was too tired to leave. We planned to just sit outside by the fire and eat a burrito, but a staff member seated us and even told me it was okay to finish the appetizer I had brought from tosh . She apologized for the experience we had elsewhere, which was incredibly kind. From there, everything just kept getting better. We were served water, chips, and salsa right away, before we could tell them we was ordering to go and glad we didn't we ended up ordering margaritas and more food, and before we knew it, the whole night had completely turned around. We asked for a manager the host told the waiter he ignored us for 5 minutes then strolled over hunched over me and said-What's up?" I was pleasantly surprised by the reasonable prices and the high quality of a meal at the Coyote Cantina inside the Talking Stick casino. With the horrific sounds of the casino's 80's house band reverberating, we escaped to the Cantina for a fair priced, large and very strong margarita. The chips were thin warm and fresh and crispy. The salsas were amazing including the really hot one. I had a shrimp taco plate with all rice no beans. I really loved the Chipotle shrimp, which was recommended by our bartender as one of his personal favorites. Very flavorful and the shrimp were prepared perfectly. Companion had the quesabirria tacos with consomme and enjoyed them a lot but they didn't look griddled and gooey enough to me compared to others I have eaten. 1st the food was very tasty! The ambience is very nice but my walk away from this restaurant was the server! Josh was amazing, young admirable man with a bright future ahead of him. my husband and I were visiting here on memorial weekend and Josh was our server. I'm kicking myself for all the visits I have had and passing by without trying this hidden gym. The restaurant is located downstairs. You can walk the glowing light up stairs or take a ride on the elevator. Either way you will have beautiful views from the open windows in the restaurant. Your greeted by the hostess staff who will seat you either at a round table or at a high top. They even have a bar area. This place is located in the Talking Stick Resort. You take the elevator down to level G and make a right. I came a little bit before dinner time and was seated right away. I received house chips and salsa. I had taken a look at the menu before, so I knew I wanted the Shrimp Enchiladas. This was a huge mistake. This literally came out in mins and was rancid. The first bite I took tasted like expired dish soap. I thought maybe it was me. I took a sip of my Peach Margarita, which was ginormous! I cut into my enchilada and tried another bite. As soon as I put it into my mouth, I knew it wasn't me. The food was horrible. I waited for my server to come check in on me. However, 15 mins later she still never came. My daughter and I ate here before the Fashion Week show. We got the sampler appetizer which was delicious. The server was attentive and didn't mind that we weren't in a hurry. It was a fun people watching night with so many there for the fashion show. Threre was live music upstairs and we might have moved up there if we didn't have the show to attend. While in Talking Stick I went to the downstairs water Coyote Cantina for a light bite to eat. There are plenty of tables but we sat at the bar since the Phoenix Suns game was on the tv. We ordered and chatted with fellow patrons at the bar. The bartender/waitress was very busy but took our and everyone else's with ease. True professional. Our food was tasty, I didn't care for the veggies to much, I thought when I ordered the veg I would get a vegetable medley but is was zucchini. Not a huge fan but I did eat a few of the diced veg. A group of eight presented to the blue coyote cantina. We were places on a wait list, with 1 hour wait. Once a text alert was received we presented to the cantina. The hostess said two minutes they where getting the table ready. (the table had been cleared for at least 30 min). After about 30 min from receiving our text alert the hostess asked us our name, and told us to have a seat at the table. We sat at the table only to be yelled at by the staff, who stated we were not to sit yet. We informed them we were asked to take a seat by the hostess. The staff then complained they had to place drinks, chips, and salsa around are party. And then waited approximately 20 minutes to see a waitress. This was a great place to get some good food at the talking stick casino. The cantina is located directly underneath the Palo Verde bar which is directly centered on the floor of the casino. This was a great place to enjoy a margarita, chips and salsa. It has a good assortment of Mexican dishes and a good view of the outside patio area. I had the shrimp enchiladas which were very enjoyable. I do wish there was more in the portion they gave you . In town for work and stumbled into Talking Sticks. We stopped by Blue Coyote Cantina for Sangria's and queso. The Sangria's are delicious - fresh made and topped with a bounty of fruit. The queso tastes scratch made and topped with roasted poblano's - it's not your heat in a bag queso - you can get that down the street. During a couple of visits I've had both the shrimp tacos and shrimp enchiladas with verde sauce. Both were equally delicious - the shrimp tacos were full of flavor and crunch and the enchiladas with verde was a tangy treat. I had no leftovers. I'm very surprised by the low rating. Love the build your own margarita concept and wish more restaurants offered this kind of variety. My personal fave is the banana margarita and I love that they have numerous brands (at various price points) of tequila to choose from. I myself am NOT a liquor snob. I will drink the cheapest version of whatever's available, so Jose Cuervo was A-OK with me- although my girlfriends scoffed and chose pricier, more "top-shelf" versions for their own margaritas. Whatevs, my $8 HUGE banana margarita made me a verrry happy girl! As far as the service goes, I can't say it's spectacular but it isn't terrible either. The food here is good and reasonably priced which is a big plus. They have really excellent tortilla chips, but the salsa is somewhat bland. I've had quesadillas and shrimp tacos with rice and been pretty pleased with the taste of everything. Usually a pretty solid choice for dinner when the Mrs. and I are at Talking Stick Resort/Casino. It's nice that they serve two types of salsa with chips to start. There is a pretty standard, but tasty red salsa and a spicier, smoky chipotle salsa that I especially liked. The build your own margarita option is nice because you can tailor you drink to your liking with choice of tequila, mix and liqueur float on top. Chicken Tinga, barbacoa, carne asada are all good choices for tacos. I can not recommend the pork Al Pastor as it was neither authentic nor particularly good since they overdid the addition of pineapple. read more
