We ended up ordering a Chicken Toluca Salad ($15) and a BLT ($11). My salad was very good with plenty of diced Fajita chicken, spinach and greens, avocado, mushroom, cherry tomatoes, green olives, jack cheese, goat cheese, walnuts & bacon. It was served with a very good chipotle dressing. Our service deficiencies continued throughout the meal - no check-backs and no personality when the bill was delivered. I thought Blue Goose Cantina was very chill. It's a laid back, casual spot, that also has TVs at the bar which is cool if you're trying to enjoy tex-mex food while also having a sports bar vibe. Service was friendly. Our bartender hooked us up with some pretty strong cocktails. The birria was juicy and flavorful. The cilantro lime rice was a surprisingly great combination of flavors to make something as plain as rice have an elevated taste. Great food great service and fun atmosphere. I have frequented this restaurant first, a must for me great salsa! One of the best and consistently great. Huge queso dip with everything is unbeatable! Big enough to share but I always eat it all. Terrific margaritas! Meats are tasty no matter what you order. Plates are large with extras that you will really like. You're at discount tire and you have an hour to kill while they put 4 new tires on your car that you weren't expecting to have to pay for right now. You know the score. So... a trip to the neighboring mall to deal with thousands of people? Or... run next door and have some drinks and apps to pass some time? Not a difficult decision. When I came it was not very busy at all, but it did get busier as we got closer to 4pm. The wait staff were polite and attentive, the cocktails are pretty delicious. The food is ok. Nothing surprising which can be both good and bad. This is not a dining "destination" for me personally, not a place I'd head to for a meal with friends or family, but it's a good spot for a bite and a beverage if you're in the area. I've eaten here a few times over the years when visiting grapevine mills mall. It's always been a good experience. Today I brought my family after we visited the "Universe of Lights". Far exceeded expectations. Chips and salsa were outstanding. Chips tasted fresh, and salsa was perfect. I ordered the six small street tacos, combination of mesquite chicken and mesquite beef. They come a la carte, no rice and beans. The portion size was perfect. And the chicken and beef was cooked and seasoned to perfection. Service was fast and friendly, and the server stopped by often to check on me. Can't beat the price. I left absolutely stuffed and very satisfied with the flavor of the food, all for under $20. The only reason four four out of five stars,it's going to be difficult for a Texas restaurant to get five stars with so many employees walking around unmasked. Very disappointed in our last visit, We came on an early Evening on a Monday. Restaurant appeared to have plenty of staff and was pretty empty inside, which we were happy about because we had a large family of 11 Dining. Starting with the Good, our waitress was very kind, knowledgeable and friendly, I'm sorry i don't remember your name, but young black woman with glasses Thank you for making our dinner better and not a complete disaster. Our Bar drinks came out fast and were great, no complaints from anyone. The Food however was not acceptable. I had two orders of shrimp fajitas all charred, burnt and overcooked. I also had the Beef Fajitas that were heavily charred and cooked well done but at least still had flavor. My Father order a two taco entree, i don't remember exactly which but it was a shredded beef and it was so salted it was unpleasant. They also shared the large shareable Fajita Entree which turned out the same as mine, everything charred and burnt. I was excited to bring my entire family out to this restaurant on our yearly trip to Grapevine yet we were met with disappointment. I really wanted to like this place because I like the location on University, but it doesn't do it for me. I have been here three times dinner, lunch, and brunch, and nothing stood out. I have had the tacos dorados, the lunch bacon wrapped shrimp, and the chilaquiles. I really liked the salsa verde but the tacos themselves were so bland. The filling was shredded chicken that had never met salt. The shrimp were over cooked and chewy and the chilaquiles were barely covered in salsa, it was mostly just fried corn tortillas. I saw a couple of pieces of chorizo, but the flavor was lost, which is hard to do. It is a shame too, because it was beautiful and the eggs were cooked perfectly. How hard is it to cover the tortillas in salsa?! Overall my impression has been that the food is really bland. The drinks...they're very sweet. Their margaritas are all mix, their spicy margaritas are still really sweet, and I could not finish their grapefruit mimosa. The service has been hit or miss. But it seems like the manager is trying. A lot of the servers are very young and seem like they like to hang out. And have their friends come to the patio on weeknights. I will give it a bit of time and try it again. But the hunt is still on for good Mexican food in Grapevine. read more

Follow your first mind... Went for my birthday with a $50 gift card. Was going to the Fort Worth location but thought let's just eat here. Big mistake Ordered the queso and 1/2 combo fajitas to share. My sister instantly got sick at the table after eating the fajitas. She started sweating and then threw it all up. Now mind up the service was already slow sat for 15 mins with chips and salsa no water. However, we understand that there's a staff shortage everywhere. So we just patiently waited without complaining. Also We didn't order any alcohol since it was mid day. The manager came over offered his condolences and a cold towel. Went to visit friends there last night. First time for me. Margarita night $2 all evening. I purchased one and thought it was good. Not great, good. But it was $2, what do you expect. They were under staffed so things were a bit slow with ordering things. I didn't see anyone not working hard that had to deal with all the customers so I give them a thumbs up for dealing with the understaff issue. Asees was our server and I thought he did a great job working our table. That guy never stopped running, literally running! He was doing his best trying to please everyone at his tables! Thank you Asees for your great service, thumb up to you Sir. Five stars to Asees. As far as the food, was good. We had varied things as the meat queso, which easily is enough for four. I had the fajita quesadilla which was tasty. One thing to bring up was their salsa, I thought tasty and great flavor. Others in my party had tacos and burritos, all good they said. We went here after doing the Peppa Pig playground in the shopping mall. It is located very close to the mall so that was convenient. I have two sets of comments. The first is a standalone assessment. I had been to the Blue Goose on Greenville (in far away Dallas) so I was familiar with the restaurant. Everything was more or less fine at this location. The server was friendly, fast, and efficient. The food was reasonably good. The happy hour prices on margaritas were great. There's a private parking lot so that is convenient. The second set of comments puts Blue Goose in a comparative context. Compared to our favorite, Mariano's, Blue Goose just is not as good. By a long shot. The stuffed jalapeños at BG used halved pickled jalapeños and there was cheese inside. You get mainly heat, not much actual flavor. The ones at Mariano's use fresh, whole jalapeños and the flavors are incredible. Margaritas at BG tasted like chemicals, not fresh. The wife's beef enchiladas at BG were cold inside. My chicken nachos were ok and were hot, but they are not nearly as flavorful as at Mariano's where they use mesquite wood to cook everything. I am going with 3 stars because of the comparison, which, after all, is what we do in our mind when we think about where to eat out. read more

Excellent queso and chips, nice fresh salsa. The shrimp cocktail was pleasant surprise on a tex-mexy menu, and made a good starter. Ranch beans were excellent, and the sour cream enchilada was good. Cheese enchilada was just ok, not the classic cheese enchilada with chile con carne that I've been craving. Chile reminded me a bit of Wolf brand. Crispies don't travel well. That's not a Blue Cantina comment, more of a general to go/delivery thing. Crispy tacos and such should be deconstructed and assembled on arrival. Though the beef in the taco did have a nice kick to it, Would give the Goose another try. Plus, the goose eggs look fun, and haven't tried those yet. read more

A friend recently heard about the tamales at Blue Goose on a local TV show and since her husband likes them, off we went to try them out. On a busy Friday evening, the place was bustling with a casual and energetic vibe. We were quickly seated in a booth, which turned out to be a plus since it was much quieter there than in the table seating areas. Immediately we received individual dishes of a delish salsa and a basket of crispy chips. Great start. Our waitress Sky introduced herself and helped us with drink and food orders. Her recommendations were perfect and welcomed. One of the tamale options was already sold out, but a pork tamale was a hit as were the chicken enchiladas with sour cream sauce and charro beans accompaniment. My Dirty Bob, a large chimichanga, was so good, way more than I could eat with the pico and guacamole, rice, and the charro beans, subbed for refried. Sky recommended a combining the ranchero sauce with queso...great idea! Oh, how could I forget the outstanding frozen margarita?! I can't. We will be back, and if we can arrange to be at Sky's table, we will do that! All so good. We are sure to return. read more

Went on a Saturday evening before the dinner rush. Place was already crowded but we were seated right away. Waiter was right by brought water and took our drink orders. I got the Diablo and date got the rocks house margarita. Mine was a great swirl and he said his hardly had any tequila in it. We started with queso and it was okay. The chip were warm and tasty. I wasn't a fan of the salsa, looked and tasted like it was made with canned diced tomatoes, not spicy at all. My cheese enchilada was tough and I had to use a knife to cut through the bottom. I'm of the opinion they should be tender and able to cut with a fork. The guacamole tostado was excellent. Doubt I'll ever go back. For $75 plus tip Tex-Mex should be way better.
