Absolutely amazing! I'll never eat a beef dog from anywhere else again. So good! The Kalbi flank steak and chicken thighs are another favorite but the winners are the candied bacon (put it in a salad) and the Beast Mode Skittle sausage! Purely delicious! If you want a meat wrapper then this is your place to go. If you want a true butcher look somewhere else. They charge to cut meat here, which I have never had to pay for anywhere else. I had requested to buy four steaks, two rib eyes and two new yorks, and wanted them thinly sliced for philly cheesesteaks. This is a request I have made for the last 30 years of various butchers in my area. I have never been to a Blue Max location to inquire before but on this visit I was advised they would be happy to cut the meat for me at $1 more per pound. My grandfather was a butcher and I heard him roll over in his grave. So much for a true butcher shop and good customer service. FYI, Butcher Boys Meat Market on Meridian was all too happy to cut the meat for me and we were able to enjoy a delicious Philly Cheesesteak dinner last night. read more

Decent butcher that has a wide variety of beef, sausage, and jerky. When I stopped in they were very busy but the line went pretty quick. Due to the crowd I did not have much time or space to browse and ask questions so I just went for some ribeyes and some sausage links. The steaks turn out nice on the grill and the sausages were not bad. I would definitely stop by if I was in the area, but it wasn't so spectacular that I would drive out of my way. read more

New favorite store. Swung through here with my father in law, we picked up a beef rib roast, pork loin, some kalbi chicken, and a few different summer sausages. Everything was phenomenal. Prices vary, but worth every penny. The kalbi chicken were out of this world when I did them on the smoker, as was the pork loin wrapped in bacon. read more

For Halloween I had 8 people over and had bought 3 dif steaks for the event a week earlier. i froze them for 3 days, took them out and put them in the fridge to thaw til saturday. i had gotten 4 ribeyes, two ny strips and two fillet mignons. OMG! First of all, they grilled wonderfully! secondly, all i had were great and many thanks on these steaks, my guests were thrilled with the flavor and the size, even after they were cooked!!! i had the fillet mignon and it was huge! the taste and tenderness was the best i've ever had! the total of these huge steaks were only $11.75 a piece! AND WELL WORTH IT! this was my first time going to blue max and yup, you got it, i'll be back again!!!! Exceeded all of our expectations! We held an event, Dogtoberfest, at the beginning of October. To stick with our theme we wanted to provide Bratwursts. After hearing about Blue Max Meats our Doctor drove down to check out the selection. He came back to the clinic with more than enough choices and boy did our staff have a problem choosing just a few. After taste testing and a little debating, we settled on the Dakota, Cheddar, and Regular. Our order for 200 was ready when we got there and the staff was very friendly and helpful. Been in twice so far since the new owners took over. The second time I came in they really had lots of sausages, jerky and meats to chose from and I sampled two different sausages. I haven't gotten anything I wouldn't buy again. I thought the 90/10 hamburger would be dry on the BBQ but Evan told me he didn't think so and he was right. I also tried the bacon burger that they actually grind the bacon in with the burger. For Mother's Day I bought two tenderloin steaks with the bacon wrapped around and they were so tender and delicious. Glad to see "new meat" running the place. read more

These guys are awesome. Always knowledgeable and willing to answer all your questions! He quality of meat is also great and they make their own marinades. The Kalbi is the best! The prices are decent as well. My husband is addicted to the candied bacon. We don't even buy our meat from the grocery store anymore. I actually joined yelp to write yet another 5 star review for these guys. The service... impeccable. The quality of the meat...great!! Its not even that close to our house and we will be making regular trips....I'm already looking forward to it!! We bought a brisket that he hand cut to the exact amount we needed ....then trimmed it up for us before the weigh in. Ok..almost enough said. He also helped my husband with the right temp to smoke it at with the hours per pound ratio. Better than a you tube tutorial...and I have full confidence he knows what he is talking about with the clear passion this guy and his partner clearly have for their business. Refreshing!! Again...excited for our next trip to Blue Max!! On a side note I do recommend the Biffs BBQ sauce as well. We bought some after talking with the men who actually make the sauce. I will say I am a Sweet Baby Rays fan as the day is long and again will now be going out to Blue Max for Biffs as well. Its real BBQ sauce. ..not the weird texture that comes from the long shelf life but the kind I would make myself if I had the gift that these two men do. So nice to have a great place to go for meat that you feel great about supporting!! read more

Tonight we cook the chicken thighs that we bought the other day they were marinated in a teriyaki sauce, very very impressed the chicken tasted much different than the chicken we usually get from Safeway for some reason it just tasted organic and healthy almost like a chicken jerky for lack of better words I must say it was the best chicken thigh I've ever had in my whole life. So impressed that I probably won't ever go to Safeway in for chicken thighs and Blue Max will get my business every time I want to buy chicken thighs. Very impressed will definitely go back to get their chicken thighs I recommend it to all maybe a dollar or two more difference per pound but very much worth it. read more
