I had the seafood mixed grill at Blue Mesa! Overall, it was amazing munis the salmon. The salmon tastes very fishy and had a distinct fish harbor taste. I liked everything else in the dish such as the coconut lime rice, shrimp, and blue cheese enchilada! It all tasted divine. I just wish they made the salmon a little bit better or flavor it a different way. The atmosphere is what you expect at a cantina- loud and very casual seating/environment. We visited on a Wednesday for lunch. We arrived at 12:30 & were quickly greeted. Within five minutes, we were led to our seats, after stopping by the lunch buffet for a tour. The waiter quickly introduced himself, explained the buffet & menu, and took our drink orders. The restaurant is beautifully decorated & although it was the middle of lunch service, the environment was relaxed & calm, still busy though! All six of us decided to eat the lunch buffet, just for convenience & to save some time. Chips & salsa were brought quickly, although the chips were not hot upon arrival. Love Blue Mesa for lunch or dinner, but they just jumped past that. We just had them cater a "Taco Bar" for our 50th wedding anniversary, and they out did their usual wonderful food. The delivery was on time, and I can't go on about good the food was, all my guests loved it. There was so much food no one left hungry and most took food home with them. The whole process was simple, and Lindsey, the catering director, was wonderful to work with. She answered all my questions in a very timely manner. Been here twice for their Taco Tuesday taco buffet and man do I like this place! So between 5pm-9pm you get unlimited tacos, rice, and beans for $12. They also have a happy hour special: order an alcoholic beverage and enjoy the complimentary quesadilla bar. I believe you also get chips and salsa with that as well. Sweet deal for meeting up with friends after work. The place is nicely decorated with beautiful big windows along the walls. I got upbeat Latin vibes from the modern decor. The bar area is lively but you also have a more quiet dining area on the other end. There are plenty of seating inside and also an outdoor patio area. The hostesses are always welcoming and inviting. They bring out a bowl of complimentary tortilla and sweet potato chips along with two different salsas to start. The sweet potato chips are lightly salted, thick cut and seriously addicting! It's even better with salsa. Who'd thunk it?! Head on over to the taco buffet station and you'll find delicious seasoned rice and black beans. Then to make your tacos, you'll have a choice of either freshly made corn or flour tortillas. I mean, what's better than freshly made tortillas? The smell is heavenly. Next, fill your tacos with four choices of meat: barbecue pulled pork, chicken, shredded brisket, and picadillo. They're all delicious. Right next to it is a pan filled with grilled veggies. Who cares about veggies?! I do! They are delicious and a lighter side to your tacos. Finally proceed to the last station where you'll find your taco fixings including shredded cheese, chopped onions, cilantro, pico de gallo, pickled onions, lime wedges, and a few hot sauces. Everything to top off and complete your delicious taco creation. So my only complaint is consistency. For example, on my first visit, they offered shredded chicken as one of their meat options, but on my subsequent visit, the chicken was sliced instead. Other examples include different grilled veggies and cheeses between the first and second visits. They were minor changes, but when you like and appreciate certain things, it's disappointing when they're not there. So far, service has been consistent with both times being exceptionally enjoyable. Our servers were attentive and efficient. I love that Blue Mesa Grill is right by the Montgomery Plaza. There are lots to do around there and it's fun to just walk around and burn off some calories. That way, you can make room for any of the many dessert options in the area :) read more

The food is great and we have eaten here many times. However, today's service, 12/29/22, was terrible. Our table of six arrived and we're seated immediately but it took more than 15 minutes to get our soft drinks and waters and we had to ask for every refill. Food took more than 60 minutes to be delivered. We've always enjoyed Blue Mesa but will probably not be back for awhile. Hopefully they can get some better staffing in the future. read more

We stopped in for a late dinner tonight. It was lovely weather to sit on the patio with our dogs and enjoy a margarita (or two) on National Margarita Day. We loved the blanco queso with sausage, especially with the sweet potato chips. The smoked chicken enchilada and the barbacoa taco were both delicious. My husband enjoyed his steak fajitas as well. It was late, so we grabbed some tres leches cake and empanadas to enjoy when we got home (so glad we did!). The QR menu at the table is smaller and different from their online menu, but still a good variety of options. Plenty of parking in front of the restaurant. Service: Great service, food was brought out quickly and all the orders were correct. Ambience: Casual restaurant, great for big parties and gatherings. Very spacious inside. Food: Ordered the cheese enchilada and corn crusted chicken taco. The dish came with side of corn masa, black beans, and rice. The enchilada was tasty, but the portion size was small. The corn crusted chicken was good too, but needed more sauce. The corn masa was a little too sweet. Price: Normal tex-mex restaurant price, but quantity and quality of food was mediocre. I asked the server if they were participating in the promotion, and he said if I said so, he would honor it. Dude, you either are or you are not. Was not a fan. Had a party of 7 and they sat us at a large table leaning to one side. My drink was sliding when they set it down. When we asked for another we were told to put some sugar under the table legs to level it. We decided to move to a bar high top as the restaurant wasn't busy and it seemed to be the best spot to get some drinks. That proved to be a bad assumption as we were largely ignored until I walked up to ask the manager if we had a server. Salsa was good as was the guacamole. Most of us decided to get the street tacos and they were ok. Not a fan of the coconut lime rice with black beans. Once we received the drinks we enjoyed them but overall I'm not sure I would return. read more

We decided not to cook on Easter Sunday, so some family members joined the hubbs and I here for Easter Sunday Brunch. They do brunch here every Sunday, and had extended hours on Easter. First, kudos to Blue Mesa for having a nice sized free parking lot. Paying for parking makes me cranky. The restaurant was well prepared for their Easter crowd. We were greeted by an outdoor hostess stand that we checked in at. I had not made a reservation, but we arrived at 10 AM before most churches are out. There was only a 5 minute wait for a table. They had a self serve lemon-water area as well as tent covered seating in the outdoor waiting area. Nice touch! The service was amazing. The restaurant was super busy, but our waiter kept our drinks filled, cleared our used plates, and checked on us at an appropriate pace. He was very polite, as were all of the staff that we interacted with. The dishes on the buffet were hit or miss. Some were standouts like the black bean adobe pie, ham, pulled meats, etc. Some dishes were simply "ho-hum," but there were so many options on the buffet that each of us found various dishes that we truly enjoyed. It was also nice that we could have just champagne, as the mimosas were watered down. Also, the coffee was weak, so we stuck to champagne and the watermelon aqua fresca (on the buffet). The $22 per adult price is worth all that you get with the buffet. It's a nice buffet spot to take visiting family. I haven't tried any regular menu items, but I'll update this review if I do. read more

A lot of variety in choices. For example, while my SIL satisfied his sweet tooth with a plate full of waffles, my husband plowed through chili rellenos, guacamole, and pulled pork. I was super excited to see shrimp and grits, so that was my primary choice. Unfortunately, the grits were stone cold. I had sprinkled a bit of cheese on top and it didn't even slightly melt. I simply ate the three shrimp I had scooped up and left the grits behind. I did eat a yummmy quarter of a waffle instead. It was super fresh and tasty. Really enjoyed the sweet potato chips, and the cinnamon coffee was the bomb. A couple of chocolate dipped strawberries was the perfect way to end the meal. Of note: It seemed particularly humid and warm in the restaurant to my husband and me, and we couldn't stop sweating. We even had some table conversation not brought up by us about how AC used to not even be available anywhere and people had to resort to paper fans instead. Our granddaughter had heard rave reviews for the weekend brunch so we thought why not go for Father's Day! Made reservations for 12:30 and we arrived early, as always, and waited outside at a umbrellaed table which wasn't too bad considering the heat. Our table wasn't ready until about 12:45 but it was a holiday and a buffet so that's to be expected. We were seated and our waiter, Josh was very prompt to get our drink orders which were of course mimosas cause it's bottomless mimosas!!! Food was really good, much better than I expected being a buffet and all. Between the 3 of us we all tasted at least a bite of each item and I don't think anything was bad. All very tasty, seemed to be very fresh. Waffles were great, the corn cake was amazing and really all the food we had was def worth the $30. The cheesecake is fantastic!!! I came for my birthday week to redeem my free table side guacamole, passion fruit tea (ask to add agave), and dessert with any entree. What a deal! This location has a great patio for a fall lunch and is kid friendly. I ordered the lunch combo steak street race & chicken enchiladas with rice, beans and corn cake (basically a small corn ball). It was enough to share with my 1 year old son! The guacamole was very good. But the cheesecake. Chiiiiiiiile, the CHEESECAKE! So. De. Licious! I attached some pictures to show how beautiful the presentation is, and the flavor does it justice!!! Also, I watched a few orders come out at tables nearby and the veggie plate, chicken fajitas, and seafood sampler looked VERY good. Oh, and the tortilla & sweet potatoes chip blend that comes with the salsa is great too! All in all, this is a great restaurant with quality service as well! My server has been with the company for 20 years, and Dennis, who the general manager who mentioned working with the company for over 30 YEARS, did my tableside guacamole and was super kind.
