My solar system came out great and very clean work.

I can't speak for other peoples experience but i am happy with the service and install from blue raven who FYI is owned by sunpower now. So it's called blue raven powered by sunpower. I talk to a lot of Solor company's and they are all pretty much the same , except for some like blue raven who are a trust ally with the Oregon energy trust which help my decision making. Price was more than fair I went with a PPA since there is no more tax credit available. I am saving money already and did not have to take out a loan. I would recommend them to anyone trying to save money on their electricity bill. I think being owned by sunpower could have changed how they operate, because James , Danny and Roberto and I think the other guys name was Franco. All professional and new there stuff I did a lot of research and have sat down with many company's. These guys knew there stuff and the install came out great even had my roofer buddy check the roof after the install and he said everything look great.

This company will scam you and threaten to hold any compensation owed due to negative reviews posted. Which is a clear violation of the Consumer Review Fairness Act of 2016. An employee by the name of Maddie Barlow, will lie to you and then completely stop communicating with you. The BBB of Salt Lake City Utah has even contacted them about the violation and they apparently don't care. I still have not received the money owed to me. Do not use this company. They bully people into removing negative reviews to make themselves look good. Which is illegal. Not only will they bully you. They will take 7 months or more to turn your solar panels on after installation. They won't communicate with you about the entire process. Highly recommend you don't use them.

Why are your sales reps ignoring the No Solicitation signs?? I have two clearly posted, one right next to the doorbell and a sale was still attempted. I do plan on getting solar eventually but due to your solicitation practices, I will not be using your company.

Update following the company's response:…read more I want to clarify one point raised in the owner's reply so readers understand the concern accurately. Yes, I mentioned that I would prefer the panels be placed on the rear of the home if possible. That was simply an aesthetic preference and not a design requirement. I relied on the company's expertise to determine whether that placement would still allow the system to reasonably meet the goals discussed during the sales process. I also want to be clear that the system functioning is not the issue. We appear to agree that the equipment is producing energy as designed. The production numbers themselves have never been what I questioned. The concern I raised relates to how the system size and expectations were presented during the sales process. When we explored going solar, the conversations centered around offsetting most or all of our electric bill, which was the primary reason we decided to move forward with a $20,000 installation. If it had been clearly communicated that the system was intended to be a smaller "starter system" that would only offset a portion of our electricity usage, we likely would have approached the decision differently or waited until we had a longer utility history available. Another important point is that no written proposal or modeling documentation outlining the assumed household usage or projected offset was ever provided prior to signing. Because those design assumptions were never shared with us in writing, it has been difficult to understand how the system size was determined relative to our expected energy needs. As a result, we are now paying a monthly solar loan while still carrying a meaningful electric bill, which is not the outcome we understood or expected when making this investment. At this point, I have shared my experience and clarified the concerns raised. I do not intend to continue a public back-and-forth discussion on this review. My purpose in posting this update is simply to provide context so other homeowners researching solar know to request clear written modeling and offset assumptions before making a significant investment.

Install a single wafer light fixture Their invoice showed over 4 hours of labor billed beyond the service call, which is far more than industry averages for these tasks (most electricians I consulted, including my own family member who is licensed, say these should take 1-1.5 hours each). I repeatedly asked in writing for a clear, detailed explanation of what caused the work to take so much longer than normal. They refused to provide any written justification, instead insisting on a phone call. I made it clear I wanted everything documented in writing for clarity and transparency. While these discussions were still ongoing and unresolved, they ran my credit card for the full amount without my authorization. This was after I had been responsive and clear that the billing was in dispute. I chose Smiley Electric because of their high Google rating, but my experience matches the lower Yelp rating. Based on how my concerns were dismissed, the lack of transparency, and the unauthorized charge, I cannot recommend this company.

Fast forward two years: I found Andrew and Wise Solar totally by accident, through a referral from someone with a lot of knowledge about the industry. Andrew came out and flew a drone over my house, showing me exactly where the panels would go for best results, recommending what kind of panels would be best, and working up clear pricing and terms without a lot of confusion. He never tried to oversell me on equipment beyond what was necessary. Andrew handled the city permitting and inspecting process with patience and diligence, and the installation went without a hitch. My system is up and running, and generating even more power than expected, which is good for me, good for the planet, and just all around -- good! I highly recommend consulting with Andrew at Wise Solar if you're shopping around for solar.

He's extremely experienced, having started in the solar business in 1981, so there really is nothing a roof or house could throw at Brent that he couldn't handle, I think. I got multiple bids including the most highly reviewed/mentioned Portland firms, and his was not the flashiest proposal or largest possible system, but it was straightforward and took the most efficient approach with respect to the tax incentives. And he didn't want to take chances with the final inspection by cramming too many panels on my roof. Another company sized a 7.3kW system and he felt it may not pass code. I also needed a service upgrade from 100 amps to 200 amps coming into the house, and Brent was happy to build that into the project. The sub he used for that was absolutely great and also added a 240V plug in the garage for my EV with no complaints or haggling. In comparison, one of the other companies I talked to really didn't feel like doing the service upgrade, even though I was happy to pay for it. Brent just wanted to do what was needed to give me a great system. He was fast too...from my first contact with him to switching the system on was two months and a couple days. With respect to payment, he takes a very small payment with the signing of the contract and then doesn't even say a word about getting the rest until everything is complete and all inspections are done. I highly recommend Brent and Gen-Con for your solar PV and thermal needs.
