If you are familiar where Time Warner was, now Spectrum, it's next door, but you have to turn in the driveway and go to the back a little bit, you really wouldn't know it was there if someone didn't tell you. We came here one evening and wasn't expecting it to be so good. The waiter suggested the fried oysters. We've never had oysters before so we were open to try them. They were good. Would I get them again, probably not...but that's just me. The texture was still a little too loose for my taste. The bread they brought to the table was REALLY good. It was very dense, but oh so good. We ordered the grouper special which was very good and the filet mignon (medium) dish. That filet mignon was probably THE BEST we've ever eaten. This was an exceptional dining experience. My wife and I had damage to our home on Valentine's weekend, and were not able to celebrate together. A week later, I made a reservation and briefly mentioned our situation to Blue Water's staff over the phone. When we arrived, we were pleasantly surprised that they had arranged little red hearts on our table. Margaret Ann was our server and she was wonderful. She explained the menu efficiently and was pleasant and prompt in continually checking on us, without being interruptive. The food was delicious, and plated beautifully. There aren't a whole lot of restaurants to pick from in High Point, other than the national meh chains, so this is your destination for a nice meal. The seafood is fresh, the staff friendly, and the crowd upscale. But, the prices are good. A lot of old wood in the restaurant, a big bar to wait for your table or mingle, and reservations are recommended especially during the markets. Lucky me gets to go to wonderful High Point, NC for work, twice a year...maybe more if meetings force....this place is no where on my "TO GO/TO SEE" list....but that's a whole other posting! Being that there's a lack of decent restaurants outside of the typical 'fun food' chain restaurants (i.e. Outback, Chili's and good ol' Liberty Grill), the Blue Water Grille is a nice place to have some good food. I had the privllage of being there just last week and had the delicious crab bisque soup, potato crusted salmon and for dessert the flourless chocolate torte. The food is excellent and the service is good, everyone is very friendly. Also...my little guilty pleasure is that I LOVE the after dinner mints they have in the bowl when you leave....yes you're suppose to take 1 or 2 but they're the soft peppermints and I cave whenever I get my hands on them, so I take as many as I can cuz those little mints, for some reason at this place, is really good.....LOL....yes I love the free mints! ....but oh yea, the food is really good too, so if you ever end up in High Point, NC...for some unfortunate reason, head over here for some good cookin' while your stuck in this little town! read more

This is a hidden gem in High Point. No literally you couldn't find this restaurant if you weren't looking for it. I searched for a restaurant on Yelp near home and found Blue Water Grille. I can't believe I have never been to this restaurant before. I think every time i saw it on Yelp I confused it with another defunct restaurant in High Point with Blue in the name (not a good experience) and wrote it off. I am so glad we decided to give it a try. First the gracious hostess asked if we had a reservation. I didn't realize it was graduation for High Point University and that that would mean limited seating. The restaurant is not large but not small either. There is a dining room which is lovely, if not a little small. There are two really nice fish tanks in this area and we were lucky enough to be seated right beside one. The ambiance is great for a date night with lots of dark natural wood and cream walls. The hostess stand separates the dining room from the bar and then past that is a covered patio with heaters. The server informed us that you can have a private event out there as well. We were seated quickly and our order taken after a quick review of the specials. We both had the House Salad to start for $7. It comes with sun-dried cherries, poached pears, blue cheese, candied walnuts, cucumber and a champagne vinaigrette. The presentation is quite nice with the cucumber thinly sliced length-wise and wrapped around the other ingredients. We both enjoyed the fresh greens in the salad and the dressing is the perfect accompaniment, not too sweet. The entrees are divided between small and large plates. If I understand it correctly small plates are meant for sharing. You are encouraged to order several plates and pass them around or share them as appetizers. The server let us know which ones were a good size for an entree when paired with a soup or salad. My husband ordered the chicken milanese milanese for $12. It consists of breaded chicken cutlets with arugula, pickled shallots, capers, tomatoes, lemon vinaigrette and parmesan. The chicken is moist and tender and the bite of the lemon and arugula and pickled shallots cut through the crispy cutlets. You will enjoy the combination and clean your plate. Although it is designated as a "small plate" the portion was ample enough for man's appetite. i always test a new restaurant with shrimp and grits if it's on the menu. Oh boy was this a good choice. The Shrimp and Grits were traditional and served with tomatoes, shallots, and tasso gravy. The grits were creamy and lucious but the server let me know the gravy was made with chicken stock. Maybe that saves a calorie or two but it didn't lessen my enjoyment or impact the taste. We could't leave without having dessert. We ordered the Key Lime Pie. It was obviously homemade and just the right mixture of sweet and tart. The whip cream was a little bland but it didn't take away from the dish at all. The graham cracker crust was thick and sweet. Looking for a date night, this place is sure to impress. read more

But walking in the door an hour after that opened with a maybe less than half Empty restaurant and being told they didn't have anything until 9:30 I almost laughed out loud. My part and I dined here in November of 2016, and while the food was good and the service competent, there were some issues. After a long day of shopping in Mebane, and being turned away by the huge crowds at the nearby (and much better) Full Moon Oyster Bar, we googled this place and decided to try it. The first thing that struck me was that this restaurant was oddly upscale for the location, and surrounding area. Not that it's a bad thing in itself, but it was not what we initially expected, and I found it worthy of note. Secondly, the menu is very limited. Limited as in, I don't believe there's more than 2 dozen items on the entire menu, including appetizers, salads, soups and such. There are perhaps less than 6 entrees on the entire menu, certainly no more than single digits. We decided on several small plates, and a few drinks. The food was good, and the service was competent, and attentive. Why the low score then? When our bill came it was $120, excluding tip. What? How did we spend $120 without ordering ANY entrees? Therein lies the crux of my issue. It seems that I had ordered a plate of oysters, that were 'Market Price'. Now I have had oysters in everywhere from fishing shacks to black tie restaurants, so I know what to expect, and was therefore not overly concerned. However I later came to find out this dozen oysters set me back $32, a full 25% of our bill. While they were tasty, and competently (but not extravagantly)prepared, this gives me pause. I would expect those kinds of prices at Morton's, or Ruth's Chris, or Del Frisco's and while this restaurant was nice, it was nowhere the same caliber of those establishments. My wife and I have enjoyed many fine meals, and this is nowhere close to even half as expensive as some of them. However it is the principle of the thing. The 'Market Price' designation is a concession given to restaurateurs who deal with items that fluctuate in value, so they can spare the hassle and expense of reprinting menus. It IS NOT and SHOULD NOT be a tool to gouge unwitting customers. Should I have asked the price beforehand? Perhaps. However this was a simple plate of shellfish, not an esoteric or extravagant offering. Was my trust in this dining establishment taken advantage of by not being tacky and asking? My wife and I decided to try Blue Water Grille for the first time last week. The atmosphere is quite nice..very tasteful but also casual. Myra was our server and she did an excellent job. Everything came out at the right times and she was very pleasant and personable. My wife had the tuna appetizer (which she loved) and the scallops (which was very good, but she thought the dish would have been better with a thinner pasta like angel hair rather than pappardelle). I had the mussels and the grouper (which were both spectacular). I would highly recommend this restaurant, and we will be back soon. read more

Dined here tonight before my son's graduation. Dinner was amazing. Waiter offered fantastic suggestions. The calamari was amazing. When we arrived we found the staff had TWO tables reserved for us as they were not certain from the message we left for them earlier in the day which one we would want. (We went for the one in the bar.) The service was good even though the two folks behind the bar were busy. We arrived at 6pm and they were not too busy. By the time we left our table was very much needed. When we left most of the pick-em-up-trucks in the parking lot had been replaced with Mercedes, BMWs, and, well, of course, higher-end pick-em-up-trucks. The black (not blackened) grouper was absolutely the best tastin' grouper I have ever had. We had a couple of the craft brews off of their beer list. (Lots of variety there, but not a lot of craft brews.) One previous reviewer commented on the prices. Well, I sorta agree, this place is not inexpensive. But, it is certainly pricy either! I'd say the prices are commensurate with the quality and creativity -- is that not all one should ask? Dinner for two with three beers, no appetizers [not needed!] came to about $69, including tax, but exclusive of gratuity. We split a salad. No damn TV's were blaring -- thanks! The hostess proceeded to tell us that there was nothing available until 8:30. As I left disappointed, we sat in our vehicle for the next 5-7 minutes to try to decide where we were going to eat. We saw one couple enter the restaurant in that time frame. I am in the restaurant business and I sure would do whatever I needed to before I let a $100 plus ticket walk out the door!! Everytime we come down to Greensboro to visit our client, we try to go to a different restaurant. This time around, we were invited to Blue Water Grille. Amazing Choice! Cute location, nice bar area where the group hang out a little before our whole party arrive and a fancy dining area. Service here is one of the friendliest you can ever find! Our server was such a sweetheart, she was also a good "sales person". We had a great time with her! Now to the food.... We tried three different appetizers (scallops, seared ahi tuna, dumplings and some dips). Everything was so good, I really liked the scallop dish. IT was supposed to be an entree, but since they only have 2 of those available, we opted it for appetizer for everyone to try some. Great choice! What a disappointment! I made reservations for this place and I made sure we were there on time. Once we arrive they offered us a high top table in the bar area. I told the hostess that we would prefer a regular table not in the bar area. She stated she didn't have any. I told her that we made a reservation for a table, not a high top in the bar. Normally, I would not care but I was tired and I wanted to sit comfortably at a table not a bar stool. She had additude right off the bat. Finally she said she would look and lo and behold she checked and said to "have one left". The table offered was right at the front door. I had no interest in watching every patron come in and out during my dinner. Right at the time a very loud group of people came and I could hear every word they said from such table. I Noticed atleast six other tables for two were available, and she said sorry those are for people with reservations, which we had. She said we had an "online reservation" not sure if they have a problem with OpenTable. I said nobody is here, we are on time, and we have a reservation. I then asked to speak to the manager. I was told that they were busy helping other customers. We waited a few minutes and at that point decided to walk out I'm puzzled on why they would treat their cusomers like that. For an appetizer we had the fried oysters with white barbecue sauce, which I've never had before. I generally don't like fried oysters but this was really good and the white barbecue sauce added a nice touch. The bread is delicious it's homemade with sea salted butter. I had scallops with the delicious kale bacon risotto. The scallops were perfect they were large seared and flavorful. Very odd location, that can be hard to find. However the inside of the restaurant is very nice, and the service matches. Started with the duck appetizer which was absolutely delicious. Here come the downsides, entrees: I had the Mahi, it was good, but boring and the fish was dry. My girlfriend had the Scallops with came with a bhock choy salad. The fish vs the side did not match at all and the Scallops were cooked nuce, but not cleaned completely. I doubt I will return because of the price tag versus quality of flavor. read more
