Half turkey sandwich with watermelon gazpacho

Bluebird is truly a hidden gem. First of all, it's located on the cutest Village Square that is off the beaten path, but definitely worth a visit in Glendale. There's plenty of free parking and the gardens are always impeccably maintained. Go on a nice day so you can sit outside on their patio seats with umbrellas. That alone is a treat in itself! I've had Bluebird pastries before, and their scones are some of the best in the city, especially their cream cheese filled scone and their fruit filled scones. Today I was visiting for lunch and I was wary of their small menu because I am dairy free and I wasn't sure if there were many options for me. I called the shop and spoke to Kelly, one of the owners, who was able to give me a detailed rundown of the menu and explain that they would make several accommodations and there would be several options for me! She explained that they are happy to make accommodations and love when people ask. I ordered the soup sandwich combo, and enjoyed the turkey sandwich and watermelon gazpacho. The combo was a good size served with pickles and chips, and I was very satisfied. The watermelon gazpacho was especially delicious and a unique dish that I would recommend for summertime. I don't think a lot of people know about Bluebird and I wish they did - it's the sweetest little place and you will be very glad you visited!

While waiting for my hubby, I stopped by the Cafe. I was greeted as soon as I walked in the door. I made my self comfortable then ordered a coffee and one of their famous pecan sticky buns. While enjoying my treat I enjoyed the banter between the employees. It felt like I was invited into a friend's kitchen. I was there long enough to grab an Egg Salad sandwich and some PB cookies. It was all amazing.

    Mushroom soup

Stopped in for a little mid work day treat and got a slice of asparagus quiche and a cup of mushroom and barley soup. The quiche was okay-- made well, but not my favorite flavor. The soup, however, was some of the best I have ever had. My only regret is that I didn't buy the entire pot of it! They don't have it all the time since their soups rotate, but I bet the others are great if they are even half as good as the mushroom one!

What a quintessential bakery in the Glendale village square. It's endearing with its tall ceilings, the antique wooden floor and charming furnishings. It offered a nice selection of fresh baked items and also lunch items- sandwiches. Quiche and soup. You can eat in or carry out. The service is always pleasant. The food and baked items delectable.

We came here while staying for the weekend near the convention center. It is nestled in a little quaint downtown area of Glendale. It was a sunny day in January and walking around was a great experience. The bluebird is a real, legit bakery making scones, pies, bars, cookies, buckeyes and other real fun treats. Want more than treats? Come for lunch. They have meatloaf, chicken salad, egg salad, curry chicken, soups, pb&j, turkey sandwiches and more. The coffee is good any kids said the hot chocolate was delicious!

I came here with my BFF for breakfast while I got tires on my car. This is a small kind of out of the way place that you can't even see from the main road. It is kind of town square from years gone by. You walk in and they have several tables and the counter is full of yummy options. We both got quiche and coffee and I also go a scone. The quiche is warmed up in a microwave so I would almost knock a star off, but I thought, they can't make everything fresh on the spot, this is a small bakery and it isn't like they have hundreds of people walking or driving by everyday. This is the hangout for friends and daycare moms. Service was very nice and the food was super yummy. I would be happy to recommend this unique place to anyone looking for something relaxing for a pastry or quiche. They also do sandwiches for lunch.

Very popular place, lots of elderly people enjoying quiche and soups when I walked in. Such a cozy neighborhood place. The scones were very soft and had a good flavor but they didn't wow me. The chocolate chip cookie tasted like something I would bake at home, nothing super special. The lemon bar was yum yum. I really liked the lemon bar. I'm glad I finally made it here but unless I was in the mood for pie, it won't be a regular stop for me.

Seemed to be in a very nice area. Coffee was cold, pumpkin scone was nice but a bit bland. Floors need to be updated looked a little iffy.

We got there at around 9:10 and were first offered a seat inside but it was so loud in there the hostess couldn't hear what we were saying and vice versa, so we got a spot on the patio. Our sever was very nice, but service was VERY slow for a Sunday night. She told us they were busy the night before because of a conference and they were still in town that day, so the bar inside was busy. After ordering our drinks it took about 15 minutes to get them, and she didn't even take our food order when she came back despite us being ready. We waited, no problem. We ordered a 'Spice Bag' and it was decent but took about 25 minutes to get to us despite being potatoes and onions in a bag. For 40 minutes we waited for our food and when it came out it was terrible. I ordered the Fish and Chips and Caesar Salad to share and both were mediocre at best and inedible at worst. If you come here: DO NOT GET THE FISH AND CHIPS. They were battered nicely, but aside from that the fish didn't feel fully cooked and tasted like nothing, with a hint of dirty water. The tartar sauce seemed homemade, but didn't have any flavour. The coleslaw was boring and watery, with no flavour. Our server never checked up on us during the meal, so I never got the chance to ask for something else, so I was just stuck with the fries it came with. I know what good fish and chips should taste like and it's not that. Others ordered the curry and the wings and seemed to enjoy it, which is nice. However, 30 minutes after placing our order we were told that the kitchen "ran out of rice" and they asked us what we would like to replace it. When the curry came out, it was missing the naan but again, server never came to check on us so we didn't notice until the end of our meal. Overall, it's a cute place that feels Irish, but service is slow and food is terrible. Our server was lovely and it wasn't her fault that she was busy with tables, but management should be doing more when they know there's a conference in town to set their servers up for success.

The food is outstanding across the board--from the steaks to the cheese sticks--but the real star is their bread pudding. It's absolutely worth the trip from anywhere in the tri-state area. Parking is also easy and convenient, with a garage right across the street, as well as their own lot and additional street parking. Highly recommend if you're looking for a great meal and an even better experience.

Both were friendly & acknowledged the birthday girl in our party. Atmosphere is great. You could comfortably walk in wearing jeans or come dressed up. Neither would be over or under dressed. The menu has juuuust the right amount of options, which is great! Heather was our waitress & while she was kind, her service skills were lacking. Granted we weren't at a Michelin Star Restaurant, but we also weren't at a dive bar. There was an endless amount of awkward reaching through, over & around when refilling drinks. There were a couple of instances where she actually touched our shoulders to nudge us to the side so she could reach through. Totally not okay during service at a restaurant nicer than a dive bar. We ordered the cheese sticks starter which were so yummy! Highly recommend! A couple of us ordered the Cesar side salad & were highly disappointed. The dressing tasted like it was mayonnaise heavy & then watered down by lettuce that wasn't dried after being rinsed. Even adding tons of extra pepper didn't help. The lettuce also tasted like it has been too wet for too long. The lobster mac was ordered in the group & it was tasty but soooo greasy. So, order with caution. We had the Black N Bleu salad in the group & that was good. The Atlantic Salmon was another dinner ordered & the crust seasoning was delicious! Sadly, the salmon was a bit overdone. It does come with a lobster cream sauce, which confused me. It was only so so & I definitely skipped it entirely. The steamed broccoli was done to perfection though. Not soggy & not too crunchy. We also had the 12oz ribeye & that was great! Flavorful, cooked perfectly! I will add though, that the steak knives need an upgrade. I really wanted to love this place, but we won't return on our next trip to Newport/Cincinnati.

Normally, I find hotel food is just okay and nothing special, but Coppin's was a pleasant surprise. We were greeted by a very friendly hostess, and our equally pleasant server quickly brought menus and asked what we would like to drink. When it was my turn, I happily ordered Coppin's Old Fashioned. I was the odd man out because everyone else ordered the Spring Manhattan. Judging by how quickly everyone's drinks disappeared, I'd say they were all very tasty. I was a little unsure about mine at first, so to make sure the quality and taste were consistent, I ordered a second, and it definitely was not a mistake. I ordered the B+G biscuits (which are made by hand according to server in the hotel) and gravy with an extra egg. Others at the table chose a variety of dishes, including the CVG, Cobb Salad, Bagel and Lox, and several other selections. Based on the clean plates all around the table, everyone thoroughly enjoyed their meals. My wife ordered a sample of banana bread, and I was fortunate enough to snag a small bite, it was excellent. After we had all finished, everyone agreed that my niece had made an excellent choice for her graduation celebration brunch. As my wife and I made our way back to Louisville, we both commented that we would definitely return the next time we were in Covington.

I ended up being in the North Building and cracked up when I walked into my room and saw I was in one of the Lightwell Lofts (a few of us ended up in them by chance, guess they included them in our room block lol). While the room was super cool and beautiful, there was a lot to be desired. After taking a million photos of the gorgeous room, I quickly realized a major flaw - the bedroom is upstairs, the bathroom is downstairs, and the staircase between the two is a crazy narrow spiral staircase. As someone that gets up to pee in the middle of the night, having to traverse the spiral stairs was terrifying lol. One of my coworkers actually swapped with someone who had a "normal" room because he was worried about falling down the stairs. My downstairs tv wouldn't turn on. I fiddled with the remote a bit, tried rearranging the batteries, but couldn't turn it on. I used the ipad in the room to put in a maintenance request, but no one came. I figured I would just let the front desk know when I headed out to dinner that night. Hours later, the front desk calls me to see if anyone had come to fix the tv - they hadn't. The girl was very nice and apologetic, she said I sent the request in the middle of a shift change and someone had accidentally marked it as complete. So she said someone would be right up, and he did come up. Handed me a handwritten note and a $25 coupon for Coppin's which was totally unexpected and a very nice gesture. Turned out, he knew exactly what the problem was - he said the remote was broken and he was supposed to swap it out but forgot. Gave me a new remote and all was good. He also mentioned there is a second remote upstairs for that tv. After he left, I went to look for it - there was no second remote. We held our meetings in the Scheper Room, which was also beautiful. The room was absolutely freezing the first day and I'm someone that prefers it a touch colder and was uncomfortable. We had to get them to update the thermostat and then in the afternoon it was way too hot. We had food brought in from the hotel and it was all fine, nothing super memorable. There was soup at lunch but the sign didn't even say what it was - just "chef's choice." The Italian hoagies were way too big and needed to be cut in half, I couldn't even finish half of one. The salad with fruit/pecans/etc was my favorite though. They had the completely wrong password on the tables for the Wifi but thankfully we figured it out quickly that we just had to use the room password. The second day for breakfast, there was yogurt on the menu and even on the sign with all the food - but there was no yogurt. Some of my coworkers were specifically asking for yogurt so we had to request it directly because it was included and paid for. Box lunches to take to go on the second day which were fine, I had the chicken caesar salad wrap. Housekeeping didn't come to service my room until 5pm when I was in there getting ready for dinner, so I was not able to get the room serviced. Just asked them for some more coffee. My conditioner in the shower was empty but I didn't bother reporting it after the tv issue and I had my own conditioner with me, so used that. The lotion at the sink was so thick that I could not get it out of the bottle at all, I had to use q-tips to get it out (it was nice quality, just kinda useless if you can't get it out of the bottle lol). Great local offerings on the mini bar and in the fridge. My coworkers and I got a kick out of the "intimacy kits" because we were on a business trip haha. The Magic 8 ball was fun, I loved the conversation cards even though I just read a few of them to myself haha. Even with the bedroom upstairs, it was nice to have the big double closet in the bathroom hallway so I really was just in the loft to sleep and kept all my stuff downstairs. The location is great, lots of fun stuff right nearby. The courtyard is lovely. I would say this is a solid 3.5 stars but since we can't give half stars, I'll give it a 4 because the staff was overall very nice and quickly fixed any issues, just a little annoying that we had any issues at all.
