I was sitting at the restaurant when I started writing this review. We decided to come because we love really love French food but this is not even closed to the the real deal. I love eating out and try new restaurants but this restaurant was over rated. The ambience was good but the chairs very uncomfortable. The service was good at the beginning until they brought us the food. We were very excited that we ordered Steak Frites. The presentation was underwhelming and I asked for Alioli sauce instead of ketchup. The fries were crispy but very salty. My steak was raw even though I ordered medium and it had a lot of grain that it was very hard to chew and I had to returned it. My mom ordered an onion soup which had some small pieces of bread and cheese that was melted but no gratineé like the original recipe that I had at Le Relais de l'Entrecôte in Paris. My other friends food was the same salty and hard to chew or very fatty. The only thing that we liked and we thought was delicious was the bread. When we complained to the manager he didn't show any concerned. In my experience a good manager will go out his to make the customer happy. This was my first and last time coming to this restaurant. If you have been in France and like to eat authentic food this is not the place to go. read more

Had tuna. Everyone's food sliced in small pieces. Very little vegetables or unappealing. Salads too expensive. No good vegetable options as sides for meat eaters. I was disappointed honestly. Chocolate dessert was dry. They were out of one of them. read more

First of all, it's a gorgeous space. At once light and airy, welcoming and stylish. Drinks were clever and delicious, no surprise coming from the folks at H&W. And the food was absolutely delicious. The dinner was not great experience. One gets he sense that all plates are designed to reduce the cost to the restaurant and effort. Had dinner with a visiting family member on a Friday evening . The green bean salad was far better than I expected. The steak frites was generously portioned and the fries were competently rendered. The scallops were excellent. The beef cheeks were a disappointment. Way too much Demi glaze produced a bitter taste that ruined the dish. The gnocchi served with it were very nice. The waiter recommended the floating meringue. Meh, it was served with peach chunks and a pleasant sauce. I can do better at home. The service was very very slow. read more

I happened to come upon this place when it was first opened and it is certainly one of the best blind surprises I've ever had. One bite of the Poulet aves Truffle Noire and I was hooked! It was the best chicken I've ever had. After two more visits, I can safely say that this is one of the best restaurants that has graced the Chapelboro area. The service was kind, the bread was nice and crisp, and the butter was delightfully salted. There was a mix-up with my dish and they prepped the new dish in no time. One waitress even remembered our faces after three visits. The tables, seating, and location are all lovely. There is a nice ambience for either brunch or dinner. Here is a breakdown of all the dishes I've had from the menu so far: Poulet aves Truffle Noire: The chicken was moist and flavorful and was supremely complimented by the sauce and vegetables. Very filling, delectable, and savory. Sole Véronique: This fish tasted like comfort. I've never had a meal invoke an emotion from me before. The sweetness radiates from the plate to your mouth and reminds one of a warm hug from your grandmother. Truite Grenobloise: If the flounder invoked comfort, then this dish invoked joy. The lemon spreads through the plate, but doesn't overwhelm the dish. It sparks energy with the radiant flavors of the fish and its accompanying vegetables. Bluebird is an amazing, 5/5 experience that I look forward to each time I want to dine out. Be prepared for a slightly higher bill than other restaurants, but it is 100% worth it. read more

Ate at Blue Bird tonight and had a very disappointing experience. We sat down at 7:45 and got served at 9:15. Apparently we were lucky. Our waitress told us some orders were taking two hours. The kitchen was ridiculously slow. Whoever manages this place was totally negligent and inconsiderate of the customers. There were tons of wait staff and bussers. The kitchen looked well staffed too. The food was very good when we finally got it as usual, but I am unlikely to eat there again after that treatment. read more

This was our second visit to Bluebird. The first time was to celebrate with a birthday dinner and we had a wonderful dinner then. This time we gathered for a Galantine's brunch. It was very busy and fortunately we had reservations. After a short delay in seating our group, the manager politely apologized and offered to bring us drinks while they got our table ready. Believe me it was worth the wait. The quiche was just short of amazing. It was about four inches high and filled with an eggy custard and goat cheese. It was served with a green salad. The only thing I wish they had was bacon but they did have lardons which I declined.one of the other people ordered the quiche as well and also had the breakfast roll which I cannot remember the name of but it was sweet and flaky and she enjoyed. The other two ladies enjoyed a ham & cheese omelet also served with the green salad & by the looks of the empty plates, all was good. They had a cocktail as well & I believe it was aperol but not familiar with this drink so I could be messing up the name! In any event it must of been delicious since a second one was ordered. The restaurant is located in Meadowmont with lots of boutiques and other venues and is just large enough not to feel lost. As before this was another win and will be back. read more

Excellent brunch. Sat at the bar which is perfect for two of us. Started off with the perfect cappucino and morning bun is a must. Then had simple salad, Salade de Laitue followed by mushroom and cheese omelet. Mushrooms were everything. Simple food done beautifully. The service was attentive and friendly. I really like this place. Food has been great and atmosphere is fantastic. I do wish they had a more interesting wine list though. THere are so many great organic wines available now that are reasonably priced that they could add here. I understand they only buy from one wine distributor which limits the list. I never love what I get btg, it is just ok... That being said I still love it and will come back! Just not drink much wine. read more

Chef Brandon does it again with a great restaurant. The smoked salmon rillettes and the trout main dish were delicious. My husband had the lobster bisque, the beef Bourguignon and the financier cake and he liked them all. For those who complain that the food is too fatty or buttery, they must not understand French cuisine. Growing up in Europe with a dad who loved to cook nothing but French-style dishes, I can tell you: French food is rich and decadent. I think Chef Brandon's recipes do it justice. Excellent meal here. My wife had a very nice salad and then an excellent sautéed flounder on a bed of leeks with Mornay sauce. I had the Brandade, which I found tasty but a little too rich, and then the lamb, which was excellent. I wish they would offer sautéed sweetbreads sometime as this is a favorite bistro dish of mine that I am sure they could do an excellent job of. read more

First, the food. Wonderful. I have eaten here at least 6 times over the past several months and have never been disappointed. The onion soup is sublime and the coq au vin is just astonishingly good as is the bread. The service has always been top notch. Now for the cons. I have a bone to pick with the sadist who picked the torture devices aka chairs. They are just awful and completely take away from any remote comfort that one should expect when having a fabulous meal. On the other hand, if people don't linger, they do turn the table over faster. The other issue is the noise. I don't know why the management insisted on the open kitchen. I don't see anyone watching their food prepared and all it does is contribute to the already noisy atmosphere. If the food was not so good here, both the noise and the uncomfortable chairs would keep me from eating here. But as a quick go and eat without lingering, it is just fine. read more

I have been at Bluebird before and enjoyed it. But tonight i went with three friends to have a nice dinner and discuss some important shared concerns. We had a 6 pm reservation - were enjoying ourselves - had drinks, wine, appetizers and entrees. We had just had the dinner plates cleared and had not even been offered a dessert menu when the supervisor came by and said the people with the 8 pm reservation had arrived so they needed us to vacate the table. The supervisor said we could have dessert and coffee at the bar ... It was appalling. We actually had been discussing some important things about the University and the State and had chosen Bluebird so we could discuss these things over a nice evening of dining. So don't go to Bluebird unless you want good food but not the time to enjoy it. I felt like I was in some low-class restaurant that tried to be high-class. I never plan to go there again. The food is good. The service is good for the time you are allotted. But time is allotted so if you have anything to seriously discuss or celebrate, go somewhere else. read more

A friend and I went for her birthday dinner. We selected 5:30 pm for our reservation and I noted when I made it that it was a birthday and could we have a table away from kitchen etc. When we arrived, we were escorted to the very first two- top table right near the hostess stand, near the kitchen and near the front door. We asked if we could move to another table that was further into the restaurant . the hostess initially said NO. I asked again and she reluctantly took us to another two top table a little bit further away from the hustle and bustle. In my opinion, you give that table to a walk-in customer, not the customer who made a reservation and is trying to celebrate a special occasion so that started us off on a bad foot. Now, they were not BUSY at 5:30 pm (why we went then) so there was no reason to not want to give us a nicer spot to sit. That said, our waiter was very kind and helpful and made great suggestions and the food was delicious! We ate every morsel and what we did not eat we took home. My friend had the flounder and I had the trout. Both were outstanding. The cocktail I had was also delicious as was the salmon appetizer. We tried the almond cake for dessert and it was good, too. All in all, this was a nice experience but the hostess stand lacks class and a welcoming service attitude towards guests. There were all kinds of empty tables that night that stayed empty during our meal so they could have been more cordial in that regard. Hostess attitude and crowded tiny table are the only things which keep me from giving 5 stars. read more
