Let me save you some time here…read more The four- and five-star reviews: People who've actually lived in cities, navigated establishments where English may be a secondary language, and often hunt for gems like this one. The three- and four-star reviews: Scared little suburbanites who don't often tread beyond the bright lights and king's English of their supermarket chain, don't know what they're looking for, and don't know how to handle the product once they have it. We've passed Hillsboro Seafood Market on several occasions and had it recommended to us by staff at restaurants like La Mixteca and Pepper's, but also at the fish counters at the Orenco New Seasons and the Imbrie Freddy's. See, if it isn't shrimp or salmon or wholesale crab legs or something that doesn't move in any large amount, your pristine little supermarket seafood counter isn't going to carry it. Oregon Seafood Market does not have this issue. We were in the market for Dungeness and mussels, which shouldn't be as difficult to find here as they are, and went right to Hillsboro Seafood Market. Every time I'm in here, I think of the markets back in Jersey City, Bayonne, Newark, Elizabeth, and Queens and how the fainting flowers of Washington County likely gasp when they walk in here--the lights aren't daylight-bright, the shelves are from the '70s and stacked with everything you could possibly need for a boil, the freezers are in the center of the floor and clearly source from all over to ensure that customers from El Chino to Syun Izakaya get what they need. In back, the iced bins hold the day's catch of oysters, clams and mussels. Saltwater tanks store not only dozens of Dungeness crab, but the occasional lobster. We picked out a Dungeness, grabbed a few dozen mussels, and had a great conversation about the differences in preparing East Coast blue crabs (which they get from a fish market in Hell'/s Kitchen) and Dungeness. She suggested I ditch the Old Bay for a homemade sofrito and it was the best idea I'd heard from a fishmonger outside of South Beach or Astoria. I'm glad to see that more recent visitors understand exactly what they have here, as their supply, price, and knowledge are unsurpassed in this corner of Washington County. I can't recommend them enough, and humbly suggest that if you're going to live in Hillsboro and tell everyone you're living in a growing, diverse city, you should perhaps take advantage of some of the benefits.

Friendly, but there is a slight language barrier. With a little patience, you'll be happy.read more

Cute burger spot in forest grove! Super close to campus too. I always grab a milkshake from here…read morewhenever I come, and out of all the flavors that I've tried, I like the fresh banana the most. Their burgers are yummy and fries are made fresh. I also enjoy their onion rings!

Absolutely unacceptable experience. I have never been treated this poorly by a business in my life…read more An employee named Alexis yelled at and harassed my daughter with zero professionalism or respect. My eldest daughter and I called in our order carefully and clearly--I personally listened as she read everything slowly to make sure it was correct. Despite that, we got home and found multiple items missing. We picked up the food around 8:05, and by the time we realized the issue and came back, it was about 8:12. The lights were on and employees were clearly still there, so there was no reason to assume they were closed, especially given how unclear their hours are. My daughter went back calmly--CALMLY--just asking for a refund or for the order to be fixed. Instead of helping, Alexis came to the window aggressive from the start, yelling, blaming us, and refusing to take any responsibility. She even had the nerve to say we should have checked the order in the parking lot. That is NOT the customer's job. It got even worse when Alexis started accusing my daughter of recording, when she was simply taking a photo of her incorrect food. The entire situation was handled in the most hostile, defensive, and unprofessional way imaginable. Yes, restaurants make mistakes--that's not the issue. It's the disgusting attitude and treatment that followed. This kind of behavior should not be tolerated in any business. Completely inappropriate, completely unacceptable. 1/5. I will never come back.
