I would have liked to try Blush, but as soon as I mentioned the fact I was calling with regards to the Pretty In Pink special, the receptionist cut me off and asked for my name and number. That was FINE. I was sympathetic to the hard work they were doing with this amazing offer -- $31 for massages the month of October. The receptionist then proceeded to snap about how they'd had "hundreds" of calls, as if I was giving her attitude. I'm not leaving out any parts of this story, no snooty reply on my part, nothing. She said someone would call me back "if not today, then tomorrow." They never called. I'm sure I'm not the only one. I know I got lost in the pile, but for some reason that just infuriates me. Good, old fashioned business sense -- If you are going to participate in a special offer, you MUST be prepared to accommodate the appointments. How do you prepare? Hire a few temporary people to take calls, ask questions and make sure you know what you're getting into, circulate communication about the change among the staff... Either that, or take your participation down a notch -- offer less impressive services for the discount. You won't get as many calls. Or appreciate the valuable opportunity to expose hundreds of potential repeat customers to your exceptional services. Or don't. Just don't take a number, bitch at a potential customer (and we spend hundreds of dollars on these spa services) and consider their "discount" business so invaluable you don't call them back. Yes, a bit of a management-directed rant. But as someone who has had, god, 10+ customer service-oriented positions, I've been there myself, so I consider this justified. If I really wanted revenge, I'd say I came here, tried everything and it all sucked. read more

Okay, so this is where I go to get a bikini wax. Maybe I should say where I USED to go to get a bikini wax. I can't go anymore because I can't convince myself that its worth $40 a month. That is only on a personal financial level though. The place is nice. Its not too snobby - although I have to admit I definitely left my old jeans at home and put on my very nicest panties when I came here. The ladies that work there are pretty nice. And even though the process of a bikini wax is pretty uncomfortable by nature, the comfort level is pretty good here. It definitely hurt less here than other places. I mean, let's face it, pulling out a bunch of pubic hair never feels good. At Blush, so I'm told, they use a different kind of wax that soothes you as they pull it. I don't know enough about it to argue and like I said it doesn't hurt as much as other places I've been. I definitely feel comfortable coming back here. ** They give you a bottle of water or juice in the waiting area, which is a good plus. read more

If I could give negative stars, I would. I too got a Pretty In Pink "1 hour massage" that only lasted 30 minutes!! They had called me to come in early since I was the last appt. of the day, but due to my busy work schedule I could not come in early. The girl who called me was really rude to me after I said I could not come in early. Then, after I got there, they had me pay AND tip BEFORE I even got my massage!! My appt. was at 8:15pm and I was walking to my car at 8:48pm. The girls who worked in the spa were pulling away in their car before I even dug my keys out of my purse. I called the next day and spoke with a manager and all she said was "Oh sorry, I hope you still come back." Riiiiiight. Unfortunately for them I will never be back, nor will I reccomend this place to anyone else. I had 5 friends who were going to book appts. afterwards if my massage went well. My first few visits here were extremely pleasant, with Jessie, massage therapist extraordinaire. But then, I got cocky and recommended my "find" to a friend. We planned a girls' outing. What a disappointment! Despite plenty of planning and three (!) calls from Blush, they managed to screw up the order of our services. As in, they booked my friend for a pedicure, followed by a massage. Damp polish and face down on a massage table don't mix... but this was a point dismissed by a woman named Lindsay, who seemed to be in charge that day. "She can hang her feet over the edge." Um, no, not unless she's 7 1/2 feet tall. So, instead of getting a massage and facial, I got to sit around for an unpleasant hour while my friend took the first massage so she could finish with a pedicure. I took the second slot and had to skip the facial. Throughout the morning, the staff was quite rude about this and never apologized (shouldn't they have been able to figure out the order after calling me three times?!) I've not been back since, even though I miss Jessie's fabulous massages and always try to support businesses in my 'hood. The quality of the services we did receive was good but the staff turned a much anticipated day out into an annoyance on par with renewing your driver's license. read more

Worst customer service ever! I have been to Blush on a couple of other occasions and have never had a pleasant experience. The staff is rude and so unprofessional. I have even heard complaints from employees on how the owner runs the business. I booked a 60 minute massage and received only 40 minutes. And as the other reviews have mentioned the massage was horrible! I was so disappointed that I was shorted 20 minutes I called to talk to the owner, she said there was a misprint with the special and it wasn't her fault. She wasn't willing to do anything about it and didn't seem to care that she would lose customers over it. I would highly suggest steering clear of this place! read more

Blush is my dependable, no burn/not much pain place for eyebrow waxing. The waxing goddess knows what she is doing, and she does not miss a hair. I have always felt comfortable in this non-snobby environment, and I highly recommend it to friends. What I love, is that she just doesn't go in for the eyebrows, she asks you what you like, or if there is anything you don't like before she begins. Its great for my friend that hates getting waxed between the brows. The lingerie in the front is pretty excessive, but its nice to know that in a pinch I can run down the street to grab a pair of Spanx. read more

Unfortunately, I actually did get appointments for the Pretty in Pink special---$31 for an hour massage. Sounds too good to be true, right? Well, exactly. This was the absolute worst massage I've ever had. The massage therapist used little to no pressure, even after I asked her to use more. The oil is dipped out of a bowl which seems unsanitary. And the worst thing...the horrible early 90's music is pumped into the massage room. Who wants a rubdown while listening to third eye blind? horrible, just horrible. I spent 17 days in Thailand which means that I have had 17 Thai massages. I believe this qualifies me as some sort of expert, well, maybe at least in Chicago. Anyway, so I went to Blush for a one hour thai massage. My massage therapist was white. I had to admit, I was being a little racist when I figured this guy would have no idea what he was doing. I was wrong: he has studied for several months in Chiang-Mai and was fantastic. After being stretched, twisted, and flipped, I felt very good! The salon was being remodeled so it was a little loud and not as peaceful as I would prefer. However, that is only temporary so I will definitely be coming back. read more

I was at Blush for a facial I signed up for through the Pretty in Pink special- $31- normally $90. Had I paid $90 I would have been really disappointed. The music in the rooms is too loud and not relaxing at all- '90s pop. Before I took my clothes off I opened one of the closet doors to get a hanger and the door fell off track. Oops. The facial was fine. The specialist was aghast to learn I do not use foundation or a tinted moisterizer. (This came up when she was trying to sell me a moisturizer with no SPF- claiming my foundation should have all the SPF I need...) At some point I was left in the room alone for 5 or 10 minutes. I was thinking that another mask was coming, but instead she massaged my face for a little while and asked how I felt. Hmm, guess it's over. She then handed me a mirror and asked how I liked it. I said, "Fine." She was all too eager to point out the tinted moisturizer she used! I left and felt worse and worse about the experience. Thinking back to amazing facials I've had at the Aveda teaching salon. In the end I cancelled a second appointment I had scheduled using the Pretty in Pink special- even at that discounted price it wasn't worth it. I have no plans to go back, ever. Lesson learned. UPDATE: Not 3 hours after I wrote this review I received a phone call from someone at Blush letting me know that, "Congratulations! You won a free facial..." I came here and tried to open the door, and it was locked. Apparently, you have to be buzzed in. I didn't get any juice as is mentioned here by Kris. I came fore the Pretty in Pink promotion to do the Brazilian Bikini Wax before my trip to Hawaii. Also, I am a perfectionist and was looking for very straight lines, no stray hairs, and very little or no pain (which is pretty impossible with bikini waxes unless you are used to them). My aesthetian was very knowledgeable, and I let her know what I was exactly looking for in my wax. She was quick, and it was only slightly less painful than the other place that I usually go to. They are known for using a different or unique wax that is supposed to make the process slightly less painful. My asthetician was helpful in recommending products to avoid ingrowns, etc. I was disappointed that she didn't really introduce herself, and I had to ask her name when I was paying. It was a decent job, but I think I'm going to my old spot and pay $5 less. I may come back if the product I bought doesn't work as she told me I could get my money refunded in 30 days if I used the product as instructed and it doesn't work. I do like that. read more

I went here for my first bikini wax based on the reviews on Yelp and I'm glad I did! It was fast and relatively painless (I was expecting it to be so much more painful, but it was just like ripping off a bandaid. And, no, I didn't drink a 1/5 of scotch first.) My wax was somewhere between a full monthy Brazilian and a standard bikini wax - Nina was quite flexible on listening to what exactly I wanted done. I'd definitely go back. read more

This place is awesome! It was my first time there and I had a Brazilian bikini wax and a mani/pedi. I've had Brazilian bikini waxes done other places and this was definitely the least painful experience I've ever had. The hard wax they use makes a huge difference. I felt no pain at all after she was done. Nina did a great job putting me at ease and chatting with me. She was also quick; the whole thing took about 15 minutes. Rosie, the nail technician gave me the best mani and pedi I've had in a really long time. She took her time and was so gentle at trimming my cuticles (lots of places shove too hard with the instruments). They use OPI and Essie nail polishes and they also have those awesome massaging pedicure chairs and lots of current magazines to read. read more

I accidentally stumbled across the reviews for Blush just minutes before my Pretty in Pink massage appointment that I'd booked not only for myself, but for my pregnant friend. Needless to say, I was more than worried. I spoke with my friend and we both decided to go have a little talk with the manager before we spent our money.... We were pleasantly surprised that our experience was nothing like what some of the women have described here on Yelp! We were warmly greeted as soon as we walked in and were promptly attended to. I immediately started expressing my concerns and worries and asked a million questions about the negative reviews and the qualifications of the massage therapist. I know this wasn't an easy conversation to have, yet all my questions were answered and I really felt like they cared about my concerns. I decided to go ahead and go through with my appointment. While I waited for my friend, they served me a cold glass of water as I relaxed in the massage chair. How did the massage go? It was nice. I've had much better. MUCH better. BUT - the massage therapist did a GOOD job. She was friendly, accomodating and gave me options on what I wanted done. I definitely feel like I got $31 worth. I would not go back and pay regular price for the service, but overall I had a pleasant experience. I was not disappointed. Thanks Blush :) ps. They have a nice selection of undergarments. I went for the Pretty in Pink $31 60 Min. Massage. I arrived 20 mins early. I didn't get taken into the room until my scheduled apt time. Which was fine. But then I had to lay on the table for 30 mins before the girl entered the room. My massage last about 30 mins. and it was just alot of lotion and rubbing. Something that I could do myself. I had never had a massage before and went in with high hopes but was very disappointed. I definitely will not go back. I love this spa!!!! I'm a dental hygienist so every 2 weeks, I treat my self with a manicure, pedicure and eyebrow and lip wax. Then once a month I try to get a message or a facial. My job is really hard on my body and I don't have time to keep up with doing my own nails or waxing. I was going to this spa in my neighborhood every 2 weeks and spending alto of money on services that were till then what I considered pretty good, but then my husband got me a gift certificate for our anniversary to blush b/c a friend of his had recommended it. What a fantastic experience!!! I had never expected the shop to be sooo cute. There is a small lounge couch in the reception area, surrounded by beautiful bras, panties and sleepwear. They even sold robes. Then I received the best facial I had ever had. Now I try to pamper myself every chance I can so I have had some good facials at the Four Season's spa, or spa's in Vegas, but this facial was the best. Mary did a peel, then zapped my face with something and then extracted alot more than I knew was in my face. I also bought some of the products that she recommended and used them the whole next week and I got so many compliments on how great my skin looked. I have already booked my next appt. for my nails and next month I have booked a couples message to surprise my husband for his birthday. I highly recommend this salon and it's staff for any of the services they provide. I have met the owner and nail girls and everyone was nothing but pleasant. I should have came on this website to look at the reviews before my friend booked out reservations for the pretty in pink promotion $31 hour massage, which was actually 45 mins. We were both excited to be able to get massaged at the same time, except the room was not large enough for 2 beds, the massage therapist who was massaging my friend kept bumping into my arm during the massage. To top it off, the 90's music was not helping me relax along with the 2 massage therapists talking, whispering, and laughing, which was very unprofessional. The waiting area was also in the middle of the store, which was not very welcoming. Overall, this was one of the worse massages I ever had. The therapist also did not use enough pressure. Our appointment was at 7pm, they didn't call us in until 7:15 and the therapists did not start the massage until 7:30. They claimed that they had not eaten all day so they took our time to eat. When we paid for the services, we asked the manager that the advertisement stated that it was a 1 hr. massage. She claims that she knew about it but it was never changed to 45 mins. This should have been mentioned to customers when they were booking the massage or at the very least before the massage began. I will never go back to this place and I would not recommend anyone to go here either. My friend and I even went to the bank to make sure that we had enough money to tip the massage therapists since we could not add tip to the sale when using a credit card. They did not even deserve a tip. read more

I found this spa out through customer referral. I like to try different Spa's once a month around Chicago. I've come to the conclusion that Blush is one of my favorites that I have had services done at. Its not only a comfortable environment, but its also a place that makes me feel relaxed and a place where I could actually feel tranquil. I have had numerous facials and massages there and have come to know the girls quite well. I heard about all the clients she did not like and who did they think they were...blah blah. My only complaint is that they don't have a changing room to hang up your stuff and take a shower after. But it was a charming place. It for sure was worth the $31. read more

I also cannot believe that I did not check this site before I booked my appointment for the Pretty in Pink massage. I was very dissatisfied with the service that Blush had to offer its customers. I booked my appointment for 7pm, and another one for my friend at 8pm. When we arrived for our massages, we were not greeted with the friendly hello and courteous smile that you would normally see at an establishment like this. The lady, who I believed was the manager of Blush told us that we can have a seat and wait while until they were ready for us. Have a seat? There really was no seating for people who had to wait. They had this little ottoman in the middle of the front room, which I assume was supposed to be seating, but really wasn't. After about 15 minutes of waiting, the manager asked if me and my friend wanted to have our massages done at the same time. I'm assuming this was done because they were backed up with everyone coming in for massage specials. We were excited, because we had wanted our massages done at the same time anyways. We got into the room, which was not equipped for two beds. My friend and I undress and talk until our massages were ready to start. I was wondering what was taking so long, and I told my friend to check the time. It was 7:30 and still no massages. A few minutes after that, the girls come in to give us our massages. I refer to them as girls, because I do not even think they were out of high school yet. So, finally our massages begin, and need less to say, I was not impressed with their massage skills. I guess what can you except when you hire high schoolers to do a job that you need certification for. Throughout the massage, all I could hear was whispering and mini laughs coming from the girls massaging us. Were they laughing at us? Who knows. To top it off the music they played in the room was not the type of music that you think of when trying to relax. It sounded like we were listening to the radio in the 90s. After the massage was done, it seemed to be fairly quick so I asked my friend to check the time. It was 8:15. A 45min massage advertised as a 1hr massage to get you in the door. When I got outside to pay, I asked the manager about the time discrepancy, and her response was "Yeah, that wasn't supposed to be on the ad. We are only offering 45min massages. It has been removed from the website". I don't care if it was supposed to be there or not. Being a business owner you should acknowledge errors to your customers prior to the service being started. No wonder the people that work there are unprofessional, the management has no sense of running a business. I had high hopes for this place when I made the appointment, but I will never come back to an establishment that is so unprofessional and disrespectful. I was definitely disappointed in my experience at Blush. I will never waste my time or money on this place again. And I will make sure that when asked about spas (massages), to inform my friends that this place is not the place to go. $31 towards a good cause, but for service that was under par. read more

Blush Spa and Intimates is the most unprofessional salon that I have ever experienced. I booked an appointment for a Pretty in Pink special. Upon arriving at precisely 9am for my appointment, I was told it would be a few minutes. A few minutes turned into 35 minutes! When I expressed my dissatisfaction, I was informed that my wait was long because I was booked for a promotional special, not a "normal" appointment. The girl quickly backtracked by insincerely stating that she did not mean that the Pretty in Pink appointments were not valued, but the message was clear - Your time and experience are not valued if you are not a "normal" client. Against my better judgment, I went into the massage room. Before even asking me what I wanted her to focus on, the massage therapist starts massaging my arm. After stopping her and informing her that I wanted to focus on my neck, she said she could try but that the head rest was broken. I am not sure how she was planning on massaging my back and neck safely without a head rest, but I immediately dressed and left. The whole experience ended up being a huge waste of time, and I will never go back there. read more
