I knew we were going to on the north side of Vancouver early morning and breakfast was in order. Blvd stuck out with it's overwhelming positives but their menu was also great because it went beyond the usual avocado toast or eggs and bacon. They did not disappoint and it became thee Vancouver standard for brunch. Definitely one of the best for us. Blvd is unique in the sense that it is a neighbourhood spot and loves being that way. It's not necessarily interested in being in the hippest spot in Kitsilano, Yaletown, or West End. What I saw in the line up before it happen was the conversations between neighbours which also happily included the staff. This is a spot you WISHED you had near you but somehow North Van scored it. Even most patrons popped in their head into the kitchen to say hello to the chef and the staff before sitting down. It was genuine and authentic in every interaction. When I went, they were apologetic cause they were expanding their dining room but unfortunately that mean their interim was a teeny tiny space available on Father's Day. I think there was only 7 tables available inside and only 2 picnic tables outside. Tiny might be an understatement. I did peer over into the new dining room and it would more than double the space currently. Service here was great. Even a first timer like me was feeling the love from everyone here. They're quite honest and open on their lack of seating and how long it would take. There were a few people after us who were looking to an hour wait and they got there before the doors open. But once you're seated, it's all good and you're looking at a very nice curated menu. You have some familiar things like Farmhand and Rancher which is just eggs, toast, and some sort of meat BUT then you have fun things like macadamia nut banana pancakes, cinnamon toast crunch french toast, pulled pork pancakes, paella ... you get the idea. Lots of interesting options for everyone. Cinnamon Toast Crunch French Toast - This first landed on our table and my eyes went almost as wide as this serving platter that pretended to be a plate. There was 5 generous slices of french toast all caramelized and sitting on top of cinnamon and vanilla custard sauce that looked like the childhood milk you'd have at the bottom of the cereal bowl. I normally am not a fan of baguettes used for french toast but this one worked well. The bread soaked a lot of the custard and crisped up nicely to give it a sweetened taste that was almost brown sugar. This wasn't too sweet either and if isnt sweet enough, there is real maple syrup to soak this in. Another great thing about this dish is that Blvd partnered with Mealshare to donate a meal to a youth if you purchase this 5/5 Beautiful Buddhist - Love that they had vegan option that wasn't just a pancake or avocado toast. This combined so many great vegetables ... sauteed kale, mushrooms, cherry tomatoes, potatoes, onions, sprouts, and seasoned tofu. Lots of variety and flavour then it's topped with the perfect oozy egg that just has the golden yolk coat everything in a gleaming sheen. The addition of the miso tahini sauce just gives it a nice savoury flavour that keeps it from being boring. I loved the nuttiness of the sauce. One of my favourite breakfast dish I had all week. 4.5/5 I think part of the reason why I can give this a 5 star is that we didnt wait more than 15 minutes for our seats. I arrived 15 minutes before they opened and by luck, most groups were 3 or 4 so they couldnt sit in some of the smaller tables. Hopefully their reno will be done and they can open up more tables to reduce the crazy line up. I think their food is really well done and very generous with great service. It can prob accommodate 18 ppl or so. Tables can fit 12. The small bar area about 6 ppl. The service and staff are great. Always made sure our water and coffee were topped off. Very friendly. A server asked us if she could take a photo of our food for her Snapchat, which was funny as we were taking photos ourselves. The food is great. I had the Huevo Ranchero with chorizo. Had a good balance of flavours and delicious. Another had it with pulled pork. One friend ordered the Philly Cheese hash. They liked it and said they would go back to try other dishes. Sunday Brunch Day! I try to avoid Sunday Brunch, why, Looooonnnnggg waits. All Vancouverites love brunch and especially on the weekends. I love brunch menus its my fave. My dilemma with brunch is always what to get savory or sweet. So lucky for me my girlfriend agreed to spilt a savory and a sweet dishes. We ordered french toast and eggs Benedict. No coffee as we were both coffee out. Our food did take some time, my friend ended up ordering a caesar just to pass time. Our server did come by after to let us know food is coming out slow and it shouldn't be much longer. We were in no rush. But we started to notice tables around us getting antsy, we saw a table leave, without getting food. The table right beside us, was not happy ended up talking to what we assume was management. We felt bad but it's Sunday brunch, it's busy. We got our food. We were starving at this point, both dishes were fantastic defiantly worth the wait. French toast hit that sweet spot, and the captain crunch on top was awesome. The eggs benny with salmon was yummy as well. Great hollandaise sauce and good potatoes on the side. The food is decent, however my eggs Benedict was cooked hard so the yolk was completely rock hard. I prefer softer yolk, which I assumed most Benedict's have so this was disappointing so basically ate the Benedict but not the eggs. The potato bread pudding was way too chewy and almost raw tasting. My brother had gotten the French toast and for $17 it was a pretty tiny serving. Caesar was delicious, as was the hollandaise. This place was 100% NOT worth the wait. We were told it would be 30 minutes and it took over 45. On top of that there was a point the hostess called for a group of five quite a few times, but it was clear they had left. Well about 20 minutes later they finally PULL UP IN THEIR CAR and demand to be seated instantly. And they got sat. Pretty upset about this as they obviously left the queue and should have been required to go to the back of the line. Will not be returning here. Bartender was nice though and did a good job. The wait was long. You have to wait in the area if they call your name and your not around your spot will be given away. Everything at the restaurant was local, so that is great. The menu is a bit pricey, but I guess your paying for free range eggs! Not too much of a drink selection, but the beer was great! I am a vegetarian so I only really had 2 options but I went with the Buddhist choice which was great! After brunch I usually feel overly stuffed I actually felt pretty good after this meal. This place has converted me to brunch ! I was never a huge brunch person but my partner loves it , so we biked out to North Van today and, I gotta say, I am hooked ! They have a spacious patio during covid which is great in the sun. Service : super attentive and friendly . Casual vibes, family kind of a feel. Food: we had the upstream Benny, Heuvos Rancheros with avocado and the macadamia nut banana pancakes. The upstream Benny was not bad but also not the most memorable. The pancakes and Huevos were outstanding though ! I would definitely order these two again, my only small wish was that the yolks on the Huevos were more runny so I'll make sure to ask for that next time . We were in the Vancouver region a few weeks back for Heathers birthday weekend and rented a great little VRBO in North Vancouver, The owner, Annalise, recommended we try Blvd Bistro while in town. That recommendation was echoed the following day by Heathers uncle (who lives not far away), so with two recommendations we changed up our Monday morning plans and decided to give this spot a try. It was busy, especially for a Monday morning, and we had a seat on the bar just as you enter as we had a flight to catch in a few hours. The coffee was AMAZING... JJ Beans Railtown Blend. Breakfast was off to a great start. Immediately the Philly Cheese Steak Hash caught my eye... it took about 0.2 seconds for me to decide what I was having. And it ended up being better than I could imagine... fresh, gooey and tasty, I love different spins on breakfast dishes and this was out of this world. Heather opted for the The Rancher and went with chorizo for her meat and was equally as please with her breakfast. I used to take my dad to Blvd Bistro quite a bit about five or six years ago... the restaurant closes at 2pm during the week, so the staff would let us know that as long as we could get to the restaurant by 1:45pm at the latest, they would always be willing to serve us. We never had any issues as long as we would arrive by 1:45pm. Then, a few years ago, my nephew was visiting from out of town. We arrived at the restaurant at 1:30pm and asked if we could still get brunch. My nephew was visiting from out of town and I wanted to introduce him to some amazing eats. The staff took a look at the two of us and told us they were closed. I am not sure why we were turned away, as they would always seat me and my father at 1:45pm. This was a big disappointment for me, especially since I wanted to treat my nephew to a great meal. As a result of this rather distasteful experience, I have not been to Blvd Bistro for several years. Today, I thought I would give Blvd Bistro another try and invited a friend for brunch. We arrived at noon and had no problems getting seated. The food was absolutely amazing. However, for some reason, our server completely ignored us. We ordered coffee, but never got a refill or a top off. We were not asked if the food was good or if we wanted anything else. We were completely ignored. The server was aloof and taciturn. This was, again, an absolutely abysmal service experience. It appears that the owner and some of the staff have absolutely no sense of customer service. The ingredients tasted fresh and delicious! The banana pancakes were sooo fluffy and the bananas tasted fresh (not that overly rip stuff). Service: very good. When they ran out of the French toast at 1:30pm, we went with the banana pancakes and asked for strawberries, they really went all out on strawberries! Made me feel more valued as a customer. So thanks! Price: $15 on average per dish is not bad for the quality Interior: The clean small space felt intimate and comfortable. We could even chat with the lovely people beside us while still enjoying our meals. The ambience set by the fresh plants, wood texture, and music made us feel like we were on a little vacation. The great weather also helped haha. Hygiene: A for cleanliness. The washroom was bigger than expected too for such a small. Fantastic little place just off Keith Road with some very delightful menu items. There's also some gluten free and vegetarian options. We ordered the Huevos Rancheros, Beautiful Buddhist, La Paella Del Patron and Upstream Benedict. Portions were generous and everyone had a little taste of each plate. Flavours were awesome, especially the Huevos rancheros. The smoked pork belly the Paella dish was packed with flavour. Service was friendly and fast. On our first day in Vancouver we were looking for a great breakfast spot. We had asked the hotel and they recommended some places close to it, but we wanted to venture out. Blvd Bistro popped up on Yelp and we are so glad we went there. The location itself is very small - something we noticed throughout much of Vancouver. We sat at the bar stools which share a wall with the kitchen. There is a great variety in the menu choices, and we went with things we hadn't seen elsewhere. I got the French toast that is topped with Cinnamon French toast cereal and strawberries, and a side of eggs. Gary got the pulled pork pancakes. We shared the Apple sausage bangers dipped in pancake batter. From first bite I knew we made the perfect choice. Amazing flavors, the bread wasn't soggy, and the sauce on top couldn't of been more of a compliment. The vanilla bean flavors really stood out. Gary was on cloud 9 with his pancakes. It had a generous portion of pulled pork and the flavor of the meat didn't overpower the dish. The apple sausage bangers were HEAVEN and I asked myself, "Why doesn't every breakfast place offer these?" I thought the pancake batter was a little heavy on them, but they were still fantastic. We wanted to grab brunch before the vintage market, so we decided on Blvd after reading so many positive reviews. The 45 minute wait wasn't fun but it was a rare sunny day and they had a bunch of chairs lined up outside. The place is very small, only about 4 tables and a long bar for singles or twosomes. It's cute inside with a variety of kitschy decor and fun salt & pepper shakers. Once seated, service was warm and prompt. Everything on the menu looked delicious. I was intrigued by the Benny's which came on savoury bread pudding. I decided to get that (smoked salmon + lemon chive hollandaise) and I split that with Vincci L. who got the paella. The Benny was delicious but I wasn't a huge fan of the bread pudding. It was a little too...bread-y for me. I wanted a traditional English muffin. The paella was unique, with chunks of meat, crispy rice, peas and a fried egg on top. The flavour wasn't very complex so I'm not sure I would repeat that order. I saw many people ordering pancakes which look nice and fluffy. Next time! All in all, a charming restaurant I'd try again. But probably not with more than one other person. read more

Before heading to Quarry Rock we stopped by here to eat some breakfast. We arrived a little late in the morning so it was already busy but we did not wait that long. The hostess did keep us updated on the time wether we were next or letting us know that our table was being cleaned which I thought was kind of nice. Before sitting down we all knew what to order so it went by quickly. For drinks I usually stick to just water but for some reason I ordered orange juice. The orange juice tasted just like the one I can buy at the supermarket yet a bit watered down so I thought that was kind of a bummer. Finally our order came and It looked beautiful. Each of our plate was just as delicious but the best one was the Beautiful Buddhist I believe that's the name of the dish. I enjoyed my breakfast here. We found this place on yelp. All the reviews seem to concur that if you're willing to wait a little bit it's worth it. Our party on a family vacation definitely agreed. I had the more traditional eggs Benedict my son had the one with the salmon. My wife had the cheese steak hash and my daughter had a stack of pancakes and a side of scrambled eggs. Eggs Benedict are served on stick of bread pudding which was absolutely delicious. We were told it was a 25 minute wait when we arrived, it ended up being 20 while we enjoyed a cup of coffee next-door. Food took a little long to come because it is all prepared from scratch but they all came out together and were all equally delicious. Including the tip it came to about $80 Canadian.
