This place is in a huge lot with lots of other food places. So, ample parking around. Located in a nice corner and has a casual and local vibe to it. It has a cute bakery in the corner with Santa Cruz boardwalk canvas too. Nice place to hangout with friends for a long time or get a book to read while sipping coffee, having nice alone time. Ok, here comes the main one: FOOOOD! I would have given 5 stars for just Cafe Carmelita, Cop car and brownie crepe. But, others meh! Not so much! Hubby tried seasonal veggies with omelette, and it was bland without any salt or spice. Border bagel and latte were ok. But, hot chocolate was so bad, it tasted like hot milk. It didn't have chocolate or sugar. So, hands down one of the worst hot chocolates ever. But, cafe carmelita was heaven and cop car plus brownie crepe were awesome. So, 3 stars overall! Very slow service on a Saturday, but they were few people at the kitchen and I spoke with one of the baritas and told me that level of crowd only happens on Saturdays. It was actually an awesome discovery after getting my car fixed at Nissan nearby. I checked on Yelp for a coffee shop (that was not the usual chain) and Blvd Coffee popped up. I would have never gone to that strip mall if it wasn't because I found it on Yelp, so thanks! It is a very spacious, warm and cozy coffee shop, with different ambiances. We sat at a table by the window. The table was nicely decorated with vintage style coffee posters to get you in the mood. This is the house of the naked latte (I asked the barista and is the way they prepare it:). I heard 'Carmelita'! and got so excited because that was my childhood name! In here it is a drink with coffee and caramel (sweeet!). They have also Mexican mocha and a broad variety of other drinks, sandwiches and crepes. The only thing I did not like (other than the long wait) was that they were entering via the customers door big boxes of croissants from Costco. I honestly prefer to be lied or not know that they are from Costco. Not that i don't like them, it is that from a coffee shop I expect they have more custom made stuff. I live within a mile of this coffee shop and pay them a visit at least once a week after picking up my son from school. I generally order a Cubano and my son likes the plain croissant. Today the crossiant was not fresh at all - on the very edge of going bad. I threw it away. But before doing so I told the young lady at the counter that it must not be served to other customers. And I made it clear I didn't want my money back. I was extremely concerned about the response I got. She said something general about their crossiant being baked fresh every morning. I said that while that may be true, mine definitely came from a bad batch. She ignored my complaint. After visiting my first isolation (float) tank experience (same plaza/few doors down) I walked out side to a intoxicating smell that I couldn't resist. I've already had a cup of coffee earlier in the morning but when in Rome amirite? This place was a gem. I ordered a regular Latte with a breakfast sandwich. It really hit the spot. Came here on a Monday morning at my friend's recommendation. I ordered a double cinnamon twist to go, and I was disappointed with the drink. It had a generous amount of cinnamon, but still tasted bland and lacked sweetness and coffee flavor. It was mostly cinnamon milk, with too much cinnamon. At first it was an alright drink, but towards the end, you get giant mouthfuls of grainy cinnamon. The shop itself is large, with a variety of seating options, looks like a nice place to meet up with a friend. There were a lot of people and many were eating crepes or sandwiches, which did look good. There is a decent variety of items in the menu, I would perhaps come back to try a different drink and a crepe. read more

The coffee was good and actually if you aren't a huge coffee drinker but want to try to ease yourself in to coffee get the cinnamon twist with oatmilk. I've been to the Los Gatos location. Their coffee and sandwiches were good. Today, I ordered a Mexican Coffee. Just what I needed...perfect amounts of mocha, caffeine, sweetness, etc! This coffee shop is my new favorite recent discovery. This coffee shop is located off of Meridian and Redmond, away from the busier streets in the Almaden Valley. There is plenty of parking available and you can conveniently drop by the grocery store, bank, or gas station before or afterwards. Upon walking in, the place is very clean with plenty of seating and tables for studying, conversation, or just enjoying a cup of coffee. They have a menu with plenty of specialty coffees and delicious food. I decided to just get a drip coffee which was self-serve and shared a strawberry Nutella crepe with a friend. The coffee was hot and delicious and the small size was a lot bigger than I thought! They have 2-3 different drip coffees with sugar, milk, and half and half available in the back. Everytime I come here I'm reminded why I should have just gone to Starbucks instead. When this location first opened in like 2018 it had amazing customer service, consistent drinks and food, and very quick service. Now it's quite the opposite- the drinks are very inconsistent- the Carmelita tastes different every time I order it- why? The customer service is horrible- the workers are either old and rude or 16 years old and have no idea what's going on. They need a better system in place for picking up drink orders- they never ask for my name or give me a number when I order a drink so it's always a big guessing game on whether or not it's my drink at the bar. Had a hard time finding this place because the sign says "Roasting", not "Blvd Coffee". I needed a place to work out of for a bit, and this place was perfect! They had plenty of seating and a few outlets to plug in my laptop. There had some really tasty-looking drink options, and I went with the Mexican mocha. Literally the BEST I have ever had. They had some food items (crepes, salads, etc) and fresh baked goodies. I didn't try any, so I can't speak to if they were good or not. I like the Cubano a lot. I also had one of the mocha drinks, but 16 oz is a lot and that's the smallest they have for a mocha.

Nice little spot to grab coffee on a lazy Sunday. Happy to have it so close by. I'll be honest, the coffee is fine but not spectacular (we're from Seattle, so..), and they use mass produced Oregon Chai which is a total bummer, but it's a really nice spot to go and sit outside to feel some semblance of normal during covid. Will definitely be back often. Glad this place is making it through. read more

I hesitated on writing this review as I have had good experiences in the past with Blvd Coffee and as a local smaller coffee shop I was hoping to be supportive with my business, however, I feel that it is fair that I share my most recent experience. I called the store to place an order for our schools Teacher and Staff Appreciation celebration a week in advance as the order was for 90 people for coffee. I was given the owners phone number since he was not there and called to speak with him. We spoke twice, once to ask if it was a possibility to place that large of an order and then we spoke again to go over the details since he was not able to write down the order during our initial call. I appreciated that he even suggested how much coffee to order for the group as well as suggestions on how to use the leftover coffee (put it in a plastic jug and use it for iced coffee). Morning of our event we went to pick up the order and the store did not have any idea of what we were talking about and did not have our order. I called the owner and he said he would call the store and get back to me. Once he called me back all he said to me was that I had not confirmed my order so they did not have it available. I understand that things happen but I find it very unprofessional that he did not own up to his mistake as I HAD confirmed with him and that he did not offer any sort of solution. So we were put in an unfortunate spot at the last minute as we were getting coffee for our teachers and staff and getting coffee for 90 people last minute is not easy. This was a very disappointing experience and I hope that this does not happen to any future customers and it has put a bad taste in my mouth for a once loved local coffee shop. CAVEAT: While I do give this 5 stars on the premise of its food and ambiance, if you're coming here to study or work, this spot probably is not for you. The WiFi and outlets here are limited. If you want to work here, prepare to be offline and with your screen fully dimmed down. That being said, he place is PERFECT for having a conversation without devices, something I think we sorely need these days. WITH THAT SAID: I had my first cup of Cuban coffee (the Cubano) here and it was the most delicious caffeinated drink I've ever had. The combination of condensed milk and rich espresso creates for an incredibly smooth sip. The coffee is like all the good smells of a coffee shop in one cup -- without the acrid or sour taste of poorly roasted or sourced beans. I enjoyed every sip and it got me JUICED up. Too bad there wasn't enough WiFi for me to direct that energy into any work I had on me. Lesson learned, next time I will come more prepared with books and paper assignments. read more

I ordered a turkey panini and I got a tiny sandwich with hardly any spinach or turkey, no pesto and no tomato. And the bread wasn't fully toasted. Blvd coffee has two locations one in Los Gatos and one here in Almaden area. I'm not often in this area so haven't made a point to head this way but now that I've tried their coffee drinks, menu items, and atmosphere I am pretty impressed. One thing I've realized over the years is the laid back style coffee shops are slowly disappearing to more modern looking limited seating spaces where you get good drinks but they are not places you feel comfortable enough to hang out for a while. Blvd is for sure not one of those places. You basically feel like you are in someone's living room with multiple leather couches surrounded by couch chairs to relax in. They also have coffee tables to place your food and drinks computers etc. At at the same time you also have both bar seating and regular tables to sit if you are more in a rush or just want to do some office work. Either way it's has a nice combination feel of being both dates and modern at the same time. The menu of drinks are very similar to what you find at other coffee shops but they do specialize in other unique drinks. One of them is a drink called The Cubano which is basically a concentration of expresso and heavy cream. Usually when they talk cream it usually means they cannot accommodate a non dairy person like me but at Blvd they will make this with any type of alternative mylk they have. This drink has a bit of sugar added but doesn't taste sweet. The vegan version is not as creamy but still good if you like a smooth but more concentrated coffee drink as its it's like 1/2 expresso 1/2 cream/milk in a smaller sized cup. Other drinks they have that are a bit different than your standard fare is one called cinnamon twist where they whip in cinnamon with the expresso Thans then float in whatever mylk you want. Really good option on a cold day. They make other drinks one called Cop Car and Carmelita but they are dairy based with one having white chocolate and the other with caramel. They also specialize in drinks they term naked expresso which are essentially a double expresso but they put it in the machine with a more fine mesh screen which makes the expresso foam more. The taste turns out more smooth and for only .50 cents extra I highly recommend this option. One of the better lattes I've ever tried and full of coffee flavor. Staff here is super friendly and know what's in their drinks so don't be afraid to ask. Finally the food options here are slightly limited but they have crepes, paninis, bagels, and sandwiches. For vegans they make a veggie panini and sandwich for $10 and $7 respectively. By the way you need to order w/o cheese to make vegan. I have yet to try these both but they look to have an assortment of veggies in both and look interesting. The only negative I see with this place is you pay an extra $.75 for other mylks which irks me but it's not enough to drop my rating. So overall 5 stars great spot. read more
