The smell of the fresh bread when you walk in is amazing. Got a macaroon for a treat- soft and tasty. Customer service was great- friendly but not overbearing staff. Food was timely and great portion. To go or sit in. We sat down and the seating area was nicely decorated - making it cozy. They have a deli and a small area with some Italian brand goods for sale. I was brought here yesterday for lunch and was instantly in Italian heaven. Their freshly made bread was intoxicating to say the least, it took every ounce of strength not to take some loaves home. I was going between the Ba-Da-Bing and the Chicken Parm, both hot sandwiches. I opt'd for the BaDaBing and it was a game changer. It was so flavorful, even when I asked for no tomato or onion. The sandwich was hot all the way through and I found myself eating the second half - on the assumption it just wouldn't be that great the next day. The house made dressing is amazingggg and I was squirting that stuff on every bite - it was a little overboard. So i inhaled the rest of the sandwich. No regrets what so ever. Food: Incredible Italian Bread ready to be topped with a variety of meats to include house made meatballs and some legit Italian sausage. We took a pound of the meatballs and sausage plus a quart of their fresh marinara sauce. We brought it home simmering all this together for a few hours and then put together some meatball subs. Service: Almost as good as the food. Pleasantly engaging staff. No rushed service just a warm smile accompanied by useful suggestions. Ambience: what one would expect from an institution that's been around more than a fee decades. I didn't order a premade heat and eat dinner but from what I saw they looked tasty! Old school fantastic! Imported meats, cheeses and olives plus freshly baked bread. What's not to love?? It's a freakin' Time Machine of 70's deliciousness. This place really has very refined tasting Italian sandwiches. The meats have a deliciously subtle and elegant flavor, and the house-made bread is of an equally suave taste. It definitely does not taste like a plain old rock'em sock-'em sub sandwich. These are the more polished cousins of those sandwiches. I can actually imagine some not liking this elegant taste if all they want is an old warhorse sub sandwich. But I thought this was a superior delight from a rather unprepossessing spot. If I wanted to eat Chinese food, I would look for an authentic Chinese eatery. The same is true for Italian food. The moment you take your first bite, you can tell the difference that this is authentic Italian food. You can order meals hot or frozen. They also carry a small selection of Italian dry goods including the most sought after San Marzano tomatoes. If you order cannolis, they always fill them fresh. What most people go there for is their selection of sub sandwiches using in house homemade rolls. They also sell the same sub rolls in bags of four to six so you can use them at home. I am going to cut them in half longways and slather them with garlic butter made with parmesan cheese, and broil them the next time I make my mom's meatballs which are pan fried and then left to simmer in a can of San Marzano tomatoes purchased here, and served over thin spaghetti. read more

Oh the bread is so yummy here! I believe this is how an Italian sandwich should taste like. Very casual place with great service. There have been tons of reviews of the great sandwiches here I will review the soup I had.....Clam Chowder....and boy it was pretty good :) I tasted pretty homemade and on a rainy day like today it hit the spot! The exterior is a bit sketchy, the dining room is run down and outdated, the packaging is lacking and a little disheveled, BUT the FOOD is ABSOLUTELY DELICIOUS. Fresh baked bread, imported Italian pasta, and homemade sauce. The marinara was flavorful and rich, but not overly robust and the texture of the meatballs were moist and tender. Lobster ravioli is scrumptious, and the bread is crispy on the outside, soft on the inside. Will definitely return if we are in the area. They also offer take-home meals that are grab n' go. I have lived right across from this place for 7 years and tried it for the very first time last week. the torpedo, it has to be one of the best sandwiches I have ever had . You won't get the Yelp deal. The sandwiches were fine, but the person who served me refused to honor the yelp deal for buying two sandwiches and getting one free.
