I visited on a Monday with my husband for a little birthday date, and let me just say... this place is TINY! We were able to park nearby in a paid parking lot, so parking wasn't an issue. But once we walked inside, we immediately realized seating was VERY limited. It's definitely giving "grab it and go" more than "sit down and enjoy." It took us about 15 minutes just to place our order at the counter. Thankfully, while we were standing around waiting, a table opened up, so we grabbed it! For drinks, I ordered the Banana Pudding Latte, which they normally don't offer during the week, but they had some extra available. My husband got the Peach Tea. Both were okay--nothing that had us planning our next visit around the drinks. For food, I ordered the Classic Egg Drop Sandwich, and my husband went with the French Toast Egg Sandwich. We were given a buzzer for the food, so we sat back and waited. Now... this is where things got interesting. The drinks came out in about 10 minutes and were called by our names, so I'm assuming the buzzer was specifically for the food. The sandwiches are made to order and cooked right in front of you, which I actually liked. I thought, "Okay, at least these are going to be HOT and fresh." Well... surprise! We watched sandwich after sandwich come out and just sit there. At one point, there were at least FOUR sandwiches waiting while several employees were busy making drinks. We kept looking at each other like, "Are they going to come get these sandwiches?" Our buzzer finally went off after about 25-30 minutes. By that point, our sandwiches had apparently been enjoying a nice little rest on the counter for at least 10 minutes. The good news? Both sandwiches were actually flavorful and good. The bad news? They were lukewarm. And that was frustrating because they were literally made fresh, so there was no reason for them to be served that way. There definitely seemed to be a disconnect between the cook and the staff. The food was ready, but the focus appeared to be on getting the drinks out while the sandwiches waited patiently for their moment. I want to say we spent around $60, and honestly, that felt like a lot for what we received. Overall, I think there's potential here because the food itself had good flavor. But between the VERY limited seating, the long wait, the communication issues with getting food out, and the price, I'm not sure this one is calling my name for a round two. This location was a little hard to find. They should probably get some type of building signage so it's easier to locate. Inside is very cute and modern however it's also small. So don't come in here with a big group. Everyone there was friendly and welcoming. Brown cinnamon matcha 8/10: good flavor, and perfect portion size. My only small group was that there was a little too much ice and I couldn't enjoy the whipped cream that well. Strawberry refresher 9/10 perfect amount of sweetness. Veggie egg drop 8/10: a little messy but overall good flavor. Original egg drop 8/10: the bread was nice and soft, and the eggs were cooked perfectly. Whatever they say good about this place, believe it!! GOSH how can one sandwich be so divine?! Ambiance: very small space so don't expect seating for a large party. However, service moved well and the ambiance exudes Black excellence. That said, it is a Black woman owned restaurant and I'm proud to have supported such a great spot. Drink: cold brew with almond milk and sugar free caramel syrup. Wasn't anything spectacular but a refreshing cold brew nonetheless. Classic egg drop: this sandwich was AMAZING!!!!!!! Found this place on TikTok and had to try because it's woman owned and black owned!!! Love everything about that so I took the 15 minute walk from my hotel to try it. Love the decor in this place...very nice and sleek and you place your order at the counter but there are seats and tables in the place to sit and enjoy your food. 1st off I absolutely love the ambiance! The color scene and cute space immediately catches your eye. Then you immediately notice the cook making fresh cotton egg drop sandwiches. AMAZING is the only way I can begin to describe my experience at BMP & GRND, a fabulous matcha café in an incredible location right on the edge of the CBD and the French Quarter. From the Sheraton on Canal, it was an easy eight-minute wheelchair roll to this hidden gem. In fact, I had passed it a few times because it does not have a visible sign yet, and the address listed online can be a little confusing (the actual location is 419 Carondelet, not 410). Once I found it, though, the experience was absolutely worth the search. The moment I entered through the flat glass doors, I was greeted by a clean, chic, and inviting space. The atmosphere strikes that perfect balance between modern and comfortable. And let me tell you, the three sisters behind the counter were absolutely PHINE! Beyond their beauty, they were warm, welcoming, knowledgeable, and incredibly accommodating. Their energy made the visit even better. We were visiting from Texas and so excited to try this place out but disappointed at how many items they were out of by 11am.. almost half of the matchas and lattes were out and they were completely out of whole milk. We ended up just ordering a strawberry matcha for our daughter and a couple sandwiches but no coffee which is the main reason I wanted to come here. New Black-owned coffee shop in the CBD is a must try. I recently heard about this spot on Instagram and decided to give it a try Saturday morning after the gym with my friend. Was pleasantly surprised when I walked in, this is not your average coffee shop. This place is giving high end coffee and breakfast spot, the ambiance is beautiful, I mean what coffee spot you know that has a chandelier. My friends and I were staying at the Residence Inn in the Central Business District and wanted to find a coffee shop that also served food within walking distance, and I'm glad we were able to find Bmp & Grnd! The cafe is small, but it does have some seating throughout. I am not a coffee drinker, so I can't give a personal review on the drinks, but my friends are and said their drinks were delicious! I understand the menu notes that wait times may be up to 45 minutes because everything is cooked to order. However, that seems excessive for items such as sandwiches, toast, and lattes. I also noticed staff refilling whipped topping while other baristas moved at a slow pace. Restocking should ideally be completed before busy hours rather than during peak service. Additionally, writing customers' names on cups or containers would help staff identify orders more efficiently. I noticed some confusion about who had ordered what. Branding on cups and containers would also be a nice touch. Mine, along with several others, was plain, even though I have seen branded packaging featured on social media. Consistently incorporating those details could further elevate the customer experience. That did not include time waiting in line This place is about quality, and they take their time. The place is small, basically a hallway with a good amount of seating. I can't imagine if this place was packed. I came at a great time. The music was a vibe, chill, relaxing. The aesthetic is great, very upscale and chic. The menu is via QR code. You order at the counter and sit or go. Everything is made when you order. The matcha was delicious! I got the banana pudding with almond milk. There were a lot of steps to make it, but at least it served as entertainment while I waited. The egg drop sandwich was an egg sandwich, nothing too crazy. The sauce on it gave a good kick. It was cooked well, but omg, it took forever. I hope this place does well, but they've got to get more quick menu items. It's the CBD. Not that many people have 15-20 minutes to wait for food. Really love the atmosphere and ambiance in here. I didn't get coffee today but will definitely be back to give their matcha a try. I can see it getting crowded during peak coffee hrs but I came a bit before 11 and it was really chill with lots of open seats. What bought me in was the egg drop sandwich and it's a solid 4/5.
