    Shrimp Quesadilla
    TyAsia W.

One of my favorite "hole in the wall" late night spots in Richmond. Their quesadillas won't disappoint, regardless of what kind you try. I like how they have different flavors of tortillas, which can enhance the flavor of whichever quesadilla you choose. This visit I got on of the RVA Favorites, the shrimp quesadilla. There were plenty of shrimp throughout and it seasoned to perfection, with a hint of spicyness. My only critique is that it fell apart after the first couple of bites so I wasn't able to eat it the normal way. There was a bit much too cheese for my liking (I know, I'm weird lol), but otherwise I really enjoyed my meal. I also recommend their wings, fish and chips and funnel cake.

The food here is very good. I mostly order wings from here and they are a 10/10. We order them online for pick up and they're ready quickly and on time based on the estimate provided. I would recommend the Tripp sauce. They're a good price and a reasonable. Much better than what America's Best is offering. Quesadillas and sandwiches are also good. I'm not a fan of the fries but the funnel cakes are good. Not a fancy place but I definitely recommend the food. I have no idea how I don't have pictures of the wings but I'll be sure to take some next time.

This place is awesome. Almost everything is good. Right in the heart of the Vcu downtown campus. The food comes out quick and they do have some combo deals. The portions are worth the price. This is a go to for the college students. Something to eat after a night of partying and it hits every time.

Went to Richmond with my boyfriend from Hampton Roads for the day and we wanted to try a new place. We loved this place! The food was great and the customer service was too. Will definitely be back!

The food seemed a little expensive but the portions were huge and it was delicious. We ordered nachos and cheese with beef, honey bbq wings (delicious but spicy), and mozzarella sticks. The manager or owner came out and talked with the people who were waiting and eating and thanked them for stopping in.

Right next to the VCU campus, quesadillas are pretty great and their wings are tasty too. Ambiance is dope, the HiC pink lemonade on their drink machine is something I don't see too often anymore so that's pretty cool too. Really good place to go eat but one time I went there around 11:15am (around the time they say they open) and the door was locked. I looked inside and nobody was there so I don't know what was wrong, I checked the hours and it said they were open but I don't know what happened. I assume they were either running late or they just need to update their hours. Another time, I asked for no tomatoes on my quesadilla so it was basically just chicken, honey mustard, and onions. However, they SMOTHERED the quesadilla with onions to the point where there was more onions than chicken. I had to throw it away just because it was kind of nasty. I'm all for having onions and vegetables in my meal to balance it out but that was just way too much. Other than that experience, everything else has been great. I would give them a 4 but I'll probably have to go a few more times before they gain my trust back. Lol.

The risotto that came with my duck leaned a little too far to the mushy side. The duck itself was really good. My niece had the salmon, and she had no complaints. There is a huge empty booth right in the front across from the hostess stand, no one was sitting there, we asked if we could sit there for just a moment to cool off in the AC- we were rudely told no we had to wait outside. The next family in line included 2 elderly women and a baby all dressed gorgeous, they also were told they had to wait outside in 105 weather. After about 20 minutes of waiting, (I was just going to tell them to forget it) they said our table was ready. Well, instead of inside with AC as we requested we were seated in a gazebo porch area that they claimed had AC. By this time we were so desperate for cool, we didn't argue that we had requested INSIDE not whatever this room was. It ended up being like sitting in a tuna can. So uncomfortable, my husband and bro in law just went and sat in the car with the AC blasting. Waitress was sporadic to put it nicely. Meanwhile, back inside the booth across from the hostess stand was still empty. Food was fine. But I don't think this place will be around much longer.

I have tried it prepared many ways and here it was both tender and flavorful, really done well. Shrimp cocktail is usually pretty basic, but often the simplest dishes demonstrate the most skill. This is truly one of the best I have ever had. The shrimp were plump and flavorful. Their cooking stopped at just the right time leaving a slight bit of translucent hue, but still cooked through. Very nicely done. The salad with home ranch was dressed nicely and the dressing was light. The scallops were cooked well and perhaps my only criticism is that the corn purée was better in concept than execution. I can't say enough about the staff. We were two people on a Sunday night crazy enough to dine in a downpour. The staff never made us feel like they wanted to punch out, embraced us being outside and were creative in waiting on us with umbrellas to keep the food from getting wet. Our server, Nadia, was an enchanting brunette, training another young server, Sierra. She took our drink orders and gave us plenty of time to review the menu, checking in after a few minutes to see if we were ready. We finally decided, my partner ordered the 10" Bianca White (pizza), and I chose the Sailor Sandwich. Unfortunately, the sailor was not in the cards for me, and Nadia suggested the Reuben as they were similar. They brought out breadsticks while we waited, and the food arrived within 10-15 minutes. I was pleased with the atmosphere, the old-fashioned chandeliers, the large mirror, the floral paintings, and the rustic frames, all of which added to the restaurant's stated aesthetic. The pizza was hot and savory, while the Reuben had buttery toast, crispy corned beef, and a light smattering of sauerkraut (TBH, I didn't even notice the sauerkraut). For dessert, we indulged in the upside-down walnut apple pie, served with vanilla ice cream, all made from scratch, and beautifully delicate. Our time at Tarrant's Cafe seemed like a stroll into the past; the only indication of modernity was the ordering kiosk used by the staff. We truly enjoyed our time and had deeply meaningful conversations without enduring the hustle and bustle or the rowdy cacophony of an intense crowd.

Every component complemented the others beautifully. The sweetness of the peaches, the slight tang of the mustard, the savory pork, and the cornbread all came together in a way that felt thoughtful and perfectly balanced. It's a very popular restaurant, so today, when we entered, while we were greeted right away, there was a 30 minute wait. The time actually went by relatively fast, and by the time we were seated, large cups of ice water were already there at our table, as well as a carafe to refill them. There's no physical menus, instead you scan a QR code which brings you to their menu. They have lots of drink options, including several specialty cocktails, beers, and ciders. Our waiter was super sweet and attentive, and the food came out relatively quickly. For my drink, I ordered a local cider from a Virginia ciderie, as well as the It's A Wrap, which has cheddar, ranch, mixed greens, tomatoes, onions, peppers, and your choice of protein (I got tofu). I also got a side of the Mac and cheese, which I could tell was made in house. Super creamy and flavorful with a hint of spice. My wrap was also insanely good! I'm impressed by the amount of vegetarian options here. Any burger can be made both gluten free or vegan, and the choices of protein make it more accessible for everyone who comes in. I'm really happy we were recommended this place!

We have had LPH several times and although I think it is a hit or miss when it comes to service, we…read morehave had sold experiences every time. The food won't necessarily blow your socks off-- however it is consistently good, a lot of vegan/gluten free/etc options, lots of cocktail and beer options, and even the pickiest of eaters could find something they enjoy there. Our waiter this last time was outstanding. I noticed on their menu they also have specials including Thursdays where they do a hot chicken sandwich and beer for a cheaper price. They also have a solid happy hour.
