We brought my daughter up to Apple Hill for her 18th birthday since there really isn't much to really go out and do during these difficult times. Plus, she truly enjoys coming up here during the fall so it all worked out perfectly. We tried coming here on a weekend and we turned around I know the weekends are it's busiest days, but I figured social distancing measures would be strictly in place and I see that's kind of hard to do. Fast forward we came back on a weekday and I was so much better for use. It was still busy, but nothing crazy and social distancing protocols were in effect as it should. We came I Boa Vista first as it's my daughter favorite Apple Hill business. She loves their bakery and so she stocked up on turnovers, donuts and so much more. We of course had to get some fresh Apple cider as it's so delicious and refreshing. We also got Apple wines which is so good as well as some pumpkin butter and other fruit preserves. I you know you have to get the take home growler of Hard Cider and a few bottles of apple wine. The staff is always helpful and friendly the produces is so fresh and tasty. I think my only complaint on this trip was how disgusting the bathroom were and trying to get someone it clean it. Other than that we had fun and a great time. The views are always amazing. I bought most of my apple goodies here, since this was the last stop of our Apple Hill 2020 tour. Gallon of fresh pressed cider (so refreshing chilled), frozen apple pie (that we already baked and ate and was delicious), bottles of hard cider (no tastings offered during Covid), some non-apple sauces and marinades, and some pumpkins from the pumpkin patch. I love the pumpkin patch that's across the street from the market and bakery. There were still lots of gourds to choose from and prices were very reasonable (bring cash, if possible). Boa Vista has the best view and they provide a lot of cute props and fall/Halloween decorations for your Insta-worthy photos. The parking lots were filling up by noon on a Thursday and the line for the bakery was fairly long. They have security guards directing the check-out lines and making sure people are mask-compliant. Staff were friendly and helpful in the midst of the usual Apple Hill frenzy AND a pandemic, making it a pleasant visit. Pro tip: Check in on Yelp ap for a free small bottle of apple cider. I having been going there for over 30 years it has been become a rip off that will ding you for everything there sell for starter if you pay with a debit or credit card, they charge you 4% and pocket over 1% above what the credit card company chargers and was never told by one of their staff till last week . Upon looking closer none of the sauces nuts and condiments are not made there and bought from some other companies and stick a label on it. It isn't bad enough that you a prompt from a tip from the pastry counter and, from a guy who makes a mediocre costco hambuger ,to the vegetable checkout counter.They will try any to get in your pocket. The pies are not very good, the donuts are terrible, and I've seen any ruin hot chocolate. Apple juice is the best and on a good day some are the pastries. read more

After 2 years and 2 failed attempts to visit Apple Hill, I finally made it! The first 2 times failed miserably... it was an hour wait just from the freeway exit to drive up to the orchard. 25 minutes in and we had to bail out. With COVID and the recent poor air quality, traffic and visitors were very scarce. While the conditions were a bit untimely, it worked out for us since we finally got here! The orchards were closed, and you really couldn't explore however, we came here for the treats and that did not disappoint! Glazed apple donut 7/10: this is an fashioned style donut with a very mild apple taste. Not too sweet but didn't taste too fresh for me Apple turnover 10/10: LOVED THIS flaky, delicate and stuffed with fresh apples! We only bought one of these and instant regretted not buying a dozen when we got home :( Peach dumpling 9/10: super delicious and a sweet treat Apple fritter 6.5/10: this wasn't my favorite of the bunch but it wasn't bad! Very mild apple flavor but it was crunchy and had a good serving of apple chunks Apple pie 9/10: Amazing! But I mean am I surprised? This is what they're famous for! We bought two of these babies and devoured them in 3 days. The pie crust was perfectly flaky and the filling to crust ratio was spot on. Went on Labor Day and this will definitely be the last visit. Business owners are taking advantage of their customers and actually trying to profit from them when using a credit card. There are so many other business that do not charge this absurd surcharge fee. In the area they charge the most for doughnuts etc which is fine but now its going too far with this absurd fee. Beware for all customers using credit cards. When checking out they said to me this is your cash price. I said I was paying by card and my total went up about $4 which is not insignificant. I asked when they stated charging to use a card and I was told by the cashier a month ago. Look at the attached picture, they charge 3.99% which is literally 4% to use a card however it was 4.1 at the doughnut stand and 4.0% at checkout. Google merchant fees, the max charge for Visa/Mastercharge is normally 2.4-2.5%. Amex is more. So ask yourself why is Boa Vista taking another 1.5% after tax and why are they allowed to charge that. They state they are giving a discount to cash customers which is misleading and a lie. If your total is $60 a 4% discount is $2.40 but instead cash customers are not getting a discount as stated on the sticker rather credit card users are being penalized which is their right but they are price gouging you that 1.5% Not sure it's an ethical practice so I reach out to the BBB and file my concern. Again probably the most popular places for doughnuts, fruit and cider so most customers won't notice the fee but after being ripped off at Boa this will be my last purchase. I drove 2.5 hrs to get my normal order and I decided to visit three other businesses and spent my money there and will continue as the owners of Boa are just greedy and unethical. The business already charges more than the others in the area but now they trying to add to their bottom line by charging more than normal merchant fees and pocketing it. Beware if using a card you would think like other businesses they would encourage to use cards due to Covid. Either provide a real discount for cash customers or take only cash or only card. Don't use accepting credit cards as an excuse to line your pockets. Either make it cash only, card only or except either with a minimal surcharge I hope they will revert back to no fee but I doubt they will. read more

Recently visited on a weekday afternoon (no special event). Parking was easy to find. During these times, I appreciated that the employees were wiping down the refrigerator doors very often and that the cashier stands now have plexiglass barriers..... .....but where is the social distancing/mask wearing enforcement?? I saw a few people not wearing masks and there were people huddled in line for baked goods/caramel apples (I really wanted a caramel apple as the ones here are darn delicious, but they're no longer available near the cashiers and hell no was I going to wait in line with everyone bunched together). Not entirely the fault of the customers as it didn't help that there were no markers on the floor to help people segregate in line a bit. Meh. I liked going here from time to time for the goods (as you see in the pic, I got some huge peaches, apples, boysenberry preserves, almond butter, and hard apple cider.....all of them tasty and not too bad for their price), but I probably wouldn't recommend going here on the weekend/special events in the near future (it's going to get pretty crowded as fall approaches) as it doesn't seem like they can't actively monitor social distancing/mask wearing even on a relatively slow day. read more

This is a hard review because I loved it but then I didn't, because of the crowds and the place losing the connection you expect when visiting wineries and orchards. The apples were delicious and products are great but having to stand in line for half an hour to get pastries and donuts is not fun. The lines were to long to the one area to sample products. You had to get in another queue line to buy products for another half an hour. On my day off and after driving 2 1/2 hours, my idea of fun is not to stand in line. I have to say the bacon jam, raspberry syrup, cilantro lime dressing and honey crisp apples were great. I didn't like the $1.50 credit card charge to use it at the market. My favorite place to stop by when heading back home from Tahoe. This place have fresh picked fruits, special homemade preserved fruit jams, honeys, sauces, dressings, and a must try freshly baked pies and other treats. I Did some shopping and bought some fresh fruits; pomegranates, black Arkansas apples, pink lady apples and satsumas tangerines. 1 Star for the apple trees 1 Star for the Dutch caramel apple pies, apple fritter and blueberry sour cream pie I wanted to like this place, but parking was a mess. I had no clue where to park, the attendants just pointed towards the dirt. I could not find one handicap parking spot and this place isn't wheelchair accessible. I almost gave up pushing my daughter's wheelchair out the dirt. The lines were long and no one was social distancing. The rude employee handling the lines at the market had the audacity to tell me and my kids to move closer to the person in front of me when I was trying to stay 6 ft away from them. Mind you, my daughter is in a wheelchair. We stood in a super long line to try the pie. I recommend the Dutch caramel apple pie ($3.99), apple fritter ($4.99) and cold apple cider ($1.99). In my opinion, It was worth the wait. We couldn't find a table to sit and eat. But managed to find a bench. If you're with someone that's disabled, good luck finding a place to enjoy your pie and your surroundings. My family and I took a day trip on Monday to check out their Blueberry Days which ended yesterday. We arrived about an hour or so after they opened and it was pretty empty. We got in line to try their Blueberry Donuts and Lemonade. First off, the Blueberry Donuts are nowhere near the vibrate blue that they advertise everywhere which was a letdown because they didn't end up making for pretty pictures like I thought they would have. Secondly, I wasn't a big fan of the taste - I prefer the OG apple ones to be honest. The Blueberry Lemonade was vibrate and tasty though, but a tad on the too sweet side for me. I was a little bummed to find out that they are the only Apple Hill place open right now. I might be the only one on the planet that didn't know their peak season is September through December. D'oh! Also, even though they had Blueberry Days going on, Boa Vista Orchards isn't my favorite - I enjoy High Hill the most! During COVID-19: All the employees were wearing a mask, so I felt safe shopping here. Had a few pastries to-go and they were amazing and not too sweet at all. I came right before the blueberry season was over. The icecream was sweet, but not too sweet. I think it has carmel which had a fun texture. The Jam we bought was also very delish. But there's plenty of parking. This place has plenty of seating and lot of dining options. Lot of must tries here, including their Ice Cream Apple Donut (yes you can spoil yourself and have one for breakfast), fresh apple cider, and much more. They have separate lines but expect a bit of a wait. And if it's not to your liking, they have tri-tip sandwiches, hotdogs and burgers. Ok this place is a literal zoo. It's one of the most popular apple farms in apple hill which means it's also the most crowded. The lines are ridiculous for the pastry and pies. We waited an hour in the pastry line. It's first come first serve so many items run out earlier in the day. It's not worth it. If you just want to buy pre made products to take home then BOA has a huge selection. They have special mustards, horse radish, jerky, hot sauce in addition to the usual apple products. The line to buy goods is more efficient and moves quicker. You can sample products before buying at the stand outside. Of the products I bought and tried, I would recommend their glazed apple donuts and the queso. I was not a fan of the apple cider. Overall I wouldn't come back because of the massive crowds and I think the apple products are better at other farms. read more

I think this is the only Apple Hill bakery that's open 363 days of the year. They have pies, fritters, cider, streusels, dumplings, of course apples We were on a fritter taste testing adventure. Unfortunately they came in last on our list. They're good but more bready. It reminded me of those dinner rolls restaurants bring to you before dinner but with large chunks of apples. My bf really liked the Apple streusel but it was a bit juicy for me. I probably would've enjoyed it more it were warmed. The boysenberry dumpling was nice and flakey. Boa Vista was good but I have to say High Hill fritters is supreme for me. A do give them a bonus point that we scored a free caramel apple. If you find yourself near Sacramento, California from October to November please take a day and visit Apple Hill in El Dorado Hills. It's a beautiful drive up into the hills of Northern California. I've been coming up to Boa Vista Orchards my whole life. It's an amazing place to visit with amazing food and a wide selection of fresh apples. This is such a popular location for people to pick out different apple products and farm fresh goods. It's always great seeing all of the dogs and people enjoying a nice day in the beautiful foothills. There's so much to eat and see while you come up to Boa Vista! The apple donuts are so delicious and flavorful. It's really special how they've stayed so good over the years. They are super light on the inside and have a nice sugary crust. Boa Vista always finds a way to bring us together. They handle all of the crazy lines so well and have a large staff to handle the large number of people for the weekend crowds. We spent a good chunk of time at the orchard and enjoyed all the treats we bought and took some cider and a whole pie home to enjoy later. We were here for an event-Boa Vista orchards are a great place to gather! The weather I here was spectacular today, very comfortable in the shade overlooking the foothills. Thank you for a gorgeous day! Food/Treats: I wish I had a second stomach to eat more when I was here! I brought many goodies home, including cookies and donuts. The BlackBerry donuts were divine, and the cookies were delicious as well! The cobbler was also fantastic-I can't wait to eat the rest ala mode at home! And the ciders...so fruit forward and delicious! The peach and blackberry ciders were my favorites, although IMHO you can't go wrong with any of them. The tri tip was amazing! A large portion of quality meat for the cost, and it also comes with chips. The honey habanero BBQ sauce was my favorite of the many choices. Event: The orchard tour was really nice, and it was great to meet the owner Brad. Very knowledgeable and willing to share the history of the farm and his family. We stopped by to check out Boa Vista as we were driving through. It's set up like an outdoor farmer market with different fruit, jams, nuts, drinks, a bakery and of course cider. They also have a bbq pit where you can order lunch from. There is plenty of picnic tables to enjoy. Their bakery has different donuts, pastries, pies and caramel apples. I don't understand the crowds! Boa vista is basically a small, farmers market style store front with a bakery. There is a small pumpkin patch directly across the street. Drove 2.5 hours from San Francisco and arrived before 9am and there was already a line for the bakery. Apparently, there are tours that come here with large busses of people which contributes to the ridiculously crowded space. We ordered the popular Apple donut ice cream sandwich and a couple donuts to go then sat down to eat. Walked around and the place was packed by 9:30 with no room to maneuver the small store. Staff were giving out samples of cider and different apples and pears in one area but there was absolutely nothing mind blowing about anything we tried and honestly, some of the older staff were rude and unhelpful. We asked a few questions about the different options of apples to try and staff were hesitant to answer; seemingly not wanting to be bothered. The ice cream sandwich was yummy but by the time we finished eating it, the line for the bakery was wrapped around the building and there was no parking left in the lot. It's not worth waiting that long for and all of the orchards on Apple Hill sell the same stuff in their stores. read more

During out trip back from Folsom to Bay area, we decided to take a detour and visit this place. We found this place via Yelp search. It's a nice Farm & Store that specializes in apples located in Placerville, which is near to Folsom. There is a huge parking space spread across their property. In the store, you will see they sell a lot of items like applesauce, apple wine, baked items, apple salsa, different kinds of fruits and veggies, and many more items. There were fireplaces placed outside of the store. Lot of people were visiting this place the day we visited. So it's definitely a popular place. We are decided to sample some apples salsa and some fruit. Apple salsa was good we purchased a jar to eat at home. tThey had wine tasting too so we decided to go with it. We got total two glasses of apple wine and it was Simply Delicious. We decided to try their baked items like apple pie and a croissant. Needless to say apple pie was delicious. To eat our baked items we decided to sit outside near the fireplace. It was a nice feeling to sit near the fireplace during the cold weather. Overall we enjoyed our visit. If you're ever in the neighborhood or near Folsom then this is a perfect place for visiting. read more

Great place to bring your family for a day trip. Beautiful orchards and pumpkin patch with a HUGE open marketplace with tons of fresh produce, wine tasting, apple cider, donuts, barbecue, and unique canned goods. Great service with many helpful people there! Love it and will return soon! read more

Went to Boa Vista Orchards for the first time today, was very nice place, and the food was pretty good. I had the glazed apple donut and blackberry dumpling and my son had the sugar apple donut. All were very tasty. Bought some yellow pluots and avocado's, beef jerky, apple fudge and some cider. Then we drove around and found a craft fair, got a cool book for my granddaughter and some tea, my son picked up some tea & very cool blood jade spear. Then we found this great little place to eat at Shills Teriyaki and sushi bar! Was so good. Had a great day! Thank you! read more

Yes this place is a GEM! Like other reviewers this place is perfect to stop by if you go up north to Lake Tahoe. Placerville is close to Tracy, Lodi, specifically in East Bay bound. What you must get when you visit this place: - Get their Apple Cider beverages! When we visited we received one extra bottle since our purchase was more than $100. However, they run promotion of buy1 get 1 free all year round. Why they always have this promotion? Because they have their own apple farm, and their apple cider mill is practically next to the warehouse. - Get their Sugar Apple Cider donuts and Glazed Apple donuts. That 's what they are famous for and people even lined up to get their apple pies (even the frozen ones). - Get their El Dorado Honey with Bee Pollen Added if you have severe allergy. My husband & son suffer from seasonal allergy especially on early Spring time and I'm telling ya' this is the only honey that works to reduce their allergy inflammation. Thank God Placerville is not too far from where we live! Long live this place! :) - Their Strawberry Jam is exceptionally delicious! When we were there my som requested blueberry, peach, and guava. All of them are perfect for their morning toast breakfast! - If you're feeling hungry, get their tri-tip sandwich. But nothing can beat their cheeseburger! The meat patty is so thick, and it was perfectly grilled for my lunch! Condiments are self-served. Across the street, there's some bench with gorgeous view where you can sit and enjoy your lunch. Love this Orchards! We come here every year to their pumpkin patch. While the kiddos are picking their pumpkins and riding the train, us adults go shopping and wine tasting. It was super busy this year when I went last weekend. My favorite items are the Asian pears, the beer cider, and the apple wine. My sister loves the jar goods, including the salad dressings. This is a perfect outing with the family. The only reason why this place didn't get a five star is because their food line is a mess. We stood in line for over half hour to place our order and close to at hour before we got our food. We spent close to 4 hours here, we couldn't get to the other orchards in time. I hope their food court find a better system so we can enjoy our day a little better. Overall, highly recommend this place for wine tasting and their pumpkin patch. read more
