After I arrived it took almost 15 minutes for a host to acknowledge me. The atmosphere was nice with open seating and rustic boathouse decor. There was an open kitchen, indoor seating, a bar area, and outdoor seating. Took awhile to order once seated. The bar staff was not too friendly on this visit. Great atmosphere - super pretty views and a cool vibe in this place. The service was great so, very attentive and she really seemed like she enjoyed her job. The dock in stars is for the food. I has the salmon tacos and while the tortilla was great, the salmon was way over seasoned and dry. They'd try to cover that up with some coleslaw, but it was still dry. My husband had the crab salad and it was such a sad looking salad....the crab was bland and the romane was borderline at best. With such a focus on fried foods it seems like it might be a good place to have some apps and drinks, but I wouldn't go back for lunch or dinner. read more

It's been a minute since I've been to this part of Tacoma - and SO MUCH has changed and is changing. A friend took me to Boathouse 19. Love the location and view, even at night. Took a while to get service going. And after we ordered and our food was delivered, it was impossible to get the attention of anyone to ask questions, order something else, etc. Frustratingly so. I'm told this is a common experience there. Service is pretty paramount in a restaurant service, so it really affected our dining experience. High prices and the lack of service informed the review. 2 stars didn't feel right. 3 stars felt generous. Will update the review if / when appropriate. read more

I have patronized this restaurant many times and the food was always excellent. A few days ago my family visited and I was very disappointed in our meals. The greas used to deep fry our "fish fry " dinner smelled and tasted odd. Fish was overly breaded. Fries were soggy. Service was great. Enire three meals a big disappointment. read more

For dinner I ordered the chicken Caesar and it was delicious one of the better chicken Caesars I've had in sometime, however it was $22. I know food costs are high for restaurants, but that just seems unreasonable. The service was great and very attentive and friendly. All of the staff were great from the hostess to server to management staff onsite. The restaurant could use a little update on the inside but still a decent place to eat. Amazing food! My husband and I stopped by for a quick bite to eat but in exchange we found our new favorite spot! We had the clam chowder and crab artichoke dip and we wiped our plates clean! Our second time here. The first time, we were out on the deck on a hot August day. Good food and great service that day. We went back again yesterday to celebrate a birthday lunch. We had an amazing waitress named Shawana. She was friendly, attentive, personal and really good at her craft. We had an appetizer, 3 mains, drinks and then she brought us a birthday dessert. Not sure if it was a new cook or recipe but I wished I had another one. My only downside is the menu. There aren't a lot of things I'd normally choose to eat. Brought my brother here for a Birthday lunch, came right at the lunch hour on a Wednesday. No problem with parking, sat down right away. We both had burgers and fries, the burgers were delicious and large. The fries were nice and crispy, perfect temp. They brought the extra sides we requested and Melida was keeping our drinks full. For such a beautiful restaurant and location, felt like a great deal for the price. I saw some bad reviews, but going myself revealed maybe some bad one offs? Take a chance and try this place out! Cute location. I'd definitely suggest sitting by the window for an excellent view. Food was great. I got the Fish Fry Sampler with the chowder which I found to be an excellent choice. The calamari was a little chewier than I personally like but the cod and shrimp were excellent and the chowder was perfect, great flavor and consistency. My partner had the Cesar salad with chicken which also was really good, the chicken was juicy and charred to perfection. The dressing was perfect. However unfortunately our service was subpar. Our waiter filled my water once before our meal arrived but then proceeded to ignore us. We tried to grab his attention to because I wanted cocktail sauce for my shrimp (for some reason mine came with ketchup...) yet even after making eye contact with my partner he did not stop by to see what we needed.
