This place doesn't try to hide what it is behind some fru-fru sign or an elaborate menu. It's a neighborhood bar and grill that serves a tasty burger. Make sure you get the onion petals or a different side than french fries because the fries are crinkle cut out of a bag type fries. My friend Dan usually gets the club sandwich, but I'm a big fan of their burger or, if I'm not super hungry, I'll get the clamstrip appetizer. Nice bar and grill located on the west side of the city near Eagle Creek Park. Nice crowd for a Wednesday and lots of foot traffic to pick up carry out orders. Clearly a trusted spot for dinner for those that live in the area. Typical bar decor, comfortable seating and overall good service. I ordered the chef salad. Boathouse grill is one of my favorite local restaurants in the area. Ordered a custom burger (1/2 lb patty, cheddar, bacon tomato, bbq, and onion petals) and it was DELICIOUS!! I first visited Boathouse about 4 years ago as they were listed in a dining miles program. I continue to return especially because of Katie. While she has many strong attributes, her customer service abilities are second to none. I eat meals away from home routinely 300+ times a year(except this past year where I did not travel as much, but still 150+ meals in 2020) Not only is Katie awesome, but the atmosphere really seems like one of community. And for grill/bar food, the quality and selection are great. I wish I drank more, and lived closer so I would visit more. If you get a chance, give them a try, see for yourself. The food here was solid as was the service. I give only three stars because this place is not accessible to folks with disabilities. The lower level has only high-top tables, while the upper area is where you can find low tables and booths. This doesn't make sense to me at all. The bathroom seems to be mostly ADA compliant. If you can put grab bars in the restroom, you can put some low tables in the main area. It isn't that hard. read more

Went here for an early dinner before a book event in the area. Since it was an early dinner, there was plenty of tables available. Our waitress was familiar with many of the patrons there, but was friendly and attentive to us as not regulars. The menu was your standard bar food with lots of good choices. I opted for the Roast Beef and Cheddar, they have multiple options for sides, I went with cottage cheese. Tried this with a friend of mine for the first time and honestly, from the outside of the building im thinking "what did i get myself into?" The outside is not in bad condition , but it isnt a place that catches your eye or is really attractive. It looked very dark if your outside looking in but once you walk in, the lighting gets much better. Didnt have a chance to order too much food, just went for a drink and some potato bacon soup! The patron margaritas were good and they were only around 6-7 bucks? That was a huge plus and it was not watered down at all. Actually had 2 of those. The potato soup was good. It was a nice sized portion. Wish it had more bacon but overall the atmosphere of the place was nice. Everyone seemed friendly and interacted well. The only reason I did not rate this as a 5 star was bc I didnt eat anything on the menu other than the soup, so my next time going, hopefully I can make the review a 5 star after tasting the food! read more

Visiting from out of town. Not sure what I was getting into. The windows are blacked out. But when you get inside you will find a very friendly staff. Nice bar seating area and good bar food. I'm really at a 4.5 here, just because I don't love throwing out a 5 after one visit. With that being said, this place is an old school local bar/grill. I could see a lot of regulars coming here, but let me tell you that the clam chowder and fish sandwich are outstanding. This fish sandwich, picture is posted, was just fresh, huge and delicious. so..let me just say first that I love this place. it's like an upscale dive, if that makes sense. Laid back, clean, funky décor. Friendly staff. The reason for the low rating is because I decided to venture from my usual grilled chicken salad, which is delcicious Fish and Chips was the special so I thought sure. I rarely eat that. Horrible except the cole slaw. Both the fish and fries clearly came straight out of a box/bag. But I have had better from the grocery store in a bag, box. If they can't at least bread their own fish you would think they could get better quality from their supplier. The place is also filled with character, with some very interesting items hanging on the ceiling, on the walls or underneath the clear tabletop covering. Katie is one of the nicest, happiest, most customer-focused people on the planet, whether she's managing things or bartending or waiting tables. It's always cool when a place is better than what I was anticipating. Boathouse fits that bill. Neat bar and grill atmosphere and as others have mentioned the service was super friendly. The people I was with raved about the roast beef sandwich...this prompts the 4 star rating. I had the bacon cheeseburger (3 star at best). The burger was a bit dry and no different than a burger you could get in 100 other pubs in Indy. I'll definitely be back to try some other menu items. read more

We stopped in for lunch on Sunday. The Grill had a nice crowd. You definitely get the local bar feel. Close to the Eagle Creek park. The service was warm and friendly and you felt you were at a party that if you visit more, you might be apart of the crowd. Seems like a good place for a beer and football. The food was great! Only reason for 4 stars is because the service was slow. This was our first time here. We went with a friend that lives in the area and eats there a lot. I started with the loaded potato skins with chili added. There was nothing left on the plate. For my main meal I had the Boathouse club with fries. Make sure you are hungry because it is huge. I loved the fact the the bread was soft and not dried out. If was easily one of the best clubs I've had. I will certainly go back when visiting with our friends again. Tall booths give a nice sense of separation from the people sitting behind and in front of you. The food is priced really well, and there's a good range of options on the menu. Well folks! Boathouse Grill popped my Tenderloin cherry! I have lived here for 3 years and never had a tenderloin, but when we went here after a day of brewery touring with friends, everyone convinced me to try it. Well? It was ok, but that may just be because I'm not into thinly pounded then breaded meat. I thought the bar was cool. I love how they really go for it with the theme.
