    Overcooked carry-out tenderloin #2
    PJ C.

Ok. I really used to love this place. Not sure what was going on in the kitchen last night but the tenderloin I ordered were not fit for a dog to eat! I first ordered one breaded since they described them as a top pick. It was so thin, dry and tough I could barely chew it. So server promised they would make me a much better one and suggested getting it grilled. I ordered it to go since we couldn't stay any longer and waited another 20 minutes (thinking how long does it take to cook a tenderloin????). I should've looked at it before leaving...would've gotten my $10.95 back. Cannot believe they sent them out looking like this! They used to make fabulous tenderloins! What happened???? Oh...I WILL give them credit for the fresh bun, lettuce, tomatoes, and pickles. Great sandwich minus the meat.

I love that this local bar is nearby. Id consider this a dive bar in the best way possible. Drinks are solid, food is good, and there are always locals willing to chat around the bar.

I met up with some friends to watch the Colts game at GG's, and was very impressed with the ambiance of the grill. This is definitely a hole in the wall restaurant with large screen TVS all over the place. You can watch every football game here if you like. They have poker tables in the back if you feel the urge to play poker. The service is exceptional and top notch! Our waitress was on top of our group and made sure we were well taken care of. The food is Ok, but not five star worthy. I ordered the Cajun chicken salad, and it took a little longer to get the salad than I had anticipated. The salad was Ok, but was not the best salad I have ever had. The chicken was not seasoned well enough to make it Cajun spicy. If I am ordering a Cajun chicken salad, I expect it to be spicy and have a kick to it. If I come back here, I will be getting something else. Other than that, GG'S is a cool place to hang out and watch the Colts game. The beer selection is decent from what I can see, and they have other stuff going on to keep them busy. This is a good hole in the wall restaurant to visit, and depending on what you order, you are sure to get a good meal and excellent customer service. I would come back to GG'S again with my friends to watch the Colts game, because it is the only grill that has direct TV that can get the Colts game. You will get a good dining experience at GG'S!

Had the best $16 filet. It comes with 2 sides and Texas toast. You can sub sides as you want. The beer it cheap which is a plus. We had 2 steak meals and 8 beers for $60. The atmosphere is like a dive bar. They had pull tabs, plenty of TVs, pool tables, darts, and music machine. Service was great and plenty of parking!

We decided to give this place a try since we have a groupon gift... and were we in for a treat! The amount of items on menu is enough at great price. The wings were piping hot and crunchy with plenty of Thai chili sauce dripped over for dipping. I was most surprised at how tasty the steak on my salad was for its price; the chopped iceberg salad itself was ok. My husband got their breakfast steak and eggs and he cleaned the plate. Btw, they're currently open during construction; the inside is clean and staff was attentive once we were served. We came on a weekend lunch, and all the guests were sitting by the bar and no server in sight; could be understaffed.. Overall, great food great prices, just sit yourself and you'll eventually get good service. We will come back.

Service was awesome as always. Had my favorite, boneless wings with sausage gravy ! Awesome place to watch the game.

One of the best laid back bars in Indy. The staff is amazing, drinks are more than reasonably priced, everything on the menu is delicious, 3 pool tables, darts and video games in the back seperated so you can play without people walking through your game. Wednesday night they have the best steak special in town! $6.95 for the top sirloin, $7.95 for the Ribeye and $8.95 for the filet. All steaks are hand cut in house, perfectly seasoned and always cooked to perfection! The pretzels and homemade beer cheese are a perfect starter! They also have some if the best breakfast anywhere! Do yourself a favor and do not skip out on the place!

I did see they allow you to make reservations on Open Table, so I booked it for a weekday to try it out. It wasn't nearly as busy as the parking lot looked, there was plenty of seating. It was a nice day so they had the windows open and they also had someone playing live music so it was a tad loud but, not overly loud where you can't hear your conversation. The menu is not your typical menu, it's very crafty if that's a word. The service was very good, and she explained the menu well and we took her up on her recommendations. Turkey pastrami which I had never had before. It tastes really fresh and felt healthy. The salad comes in a little small bowl but full of goodness. It's a really nice place for a girls night out, or a family dinner. Wouldn't consider it a good place for date night as it is pretty loud.

The Brussels sprouts are an absolute triumph: perfectly blistered with a caramelized exterior and tender interior, dressed in a harmonious balance of bright acidity and savory depth. Little crunchy bits and a subtle smoky char add texture, while a finishing sprinkle (and a hint of something sweet-salty) elevates them from simple side to a show-stealer. The Korean salmon is equally impressive. The fish arrives flaky and moist with a richly glazed crust that carries sweet, spicy, and umami notes in perfect proportion. Layers of flavor -- gochujang-forward heat, sesame brightness, and a touch of citrus -- play against the salmon's natural richness without overpowering it. It's plated thoughtfully, with complementary sides that keep each bite balanced. If you're at Big Lug Canteen, don't pass up those two dishes -- they demonstrate skilled technique, bold yet nuanced seasoning, and a real sense of care in the kitchen. Great food, relaxed atmosphere, solid value. Highly recommended.

I ordered a biscuit sandwich with turkey sausage, egg, pepper jack, and hot honey (not on the menu, but just ask for the Fire and Ice biscuit). When it first came out, I had a quick "where's the rest?" moment, but it turned out to be surprisingly filling and really flavorful. Always excited to try…read morea #NewToMe place and also one that is gluten free, as my dining companions need that for medical reasons. The inside is bright and comfortable. There are a variety of tables, also some comfy corner chairs. You order at the counter then they'll bring food to you. We all got (plain) coffee. There's a small sugar station on the end of the counter, but you have to ask for cream. I also told a staff member none of us had been there before, and asked were there coffee refills (since the rest was specialty coffee drinks) or do we pay? She said we can have one refill if we come up. My friends got gluten free egg/biscuit sandwiches. The hubs got a crepe with strawberries, bananas and more in it. I ordered the Galette Bretonne - which is described as "a savory light Buckwheat crepe with City ham, Gruyere cheese, with sunny side up egg" and also comes with a side salad. Our food came fairly quickly. The crepe was visually pretty. The biscuit sandwiches looked like they had nice fluffy biscuits (and, gluten free!) - but they were on the small side (smaller than an egg mcmuffin). My galette looked nice but not like the photo (see pics of mine & one from their web) - and the egg inside was well done, definitely not sunny side up or even medium. I don't mind harder cooked eggs, but the whole effect was very dry, so I went to the counter to ask for some syrup. The server told me that he would have to charge me for it. I said fine, yes please, because my dish is so dry it's unedible without it. So he went back in the kitchen and did bring me out a small side dish of syrup (see also pic of that, for size). I had my credit card ready, but he said "this one's on me." I thanked him and sat down to eat. ... and yes, that syrup was just the trick to make the dish delicious! So this is the thing that makes a whole experience "meh" as opposed to "really nice": Between me & my hubs, our food and plain coffees were $42. (My friends paid separately for theirs.) For that price and just counter service, if a guest asks for a small side of syrup for the food, there should not be a side charge. I think the server who gave it to me realized that (but I would have paid it anyway because the meal was just too dry without it) ... But here's the thing - there was another staff member at the counter when my server gave me that little side of syrup. She heard him say "no charge this time," and her expression absolutely changed, and she looked mad that he did not charge me, and like she was about to say something (but didn't). Guess what? I absolutely saw that. And I totally feel like she was not only mad, but also that he might get reprimanded for it. (Might I add, we were also there when it was NOT busy at all, so there was nothing about the atmosphere that was rushed or hectic - although that souldn't matter, either.) And yes, of course when I went back to the table, I relayed that story to my other 3 companions. A little (little!) customer service goes a long way. And also is easily a deciding factor of whether or not a place gets a revisit. There are so many other places to try. #ReviewsByRL
