Hands down the best hidden gem in Indy! Delicious food, amazing staff and so affordable. They've also got a big screen and several smaller TVs to catch all the games. Laid back, no frills ambiance. Used to be a staple before we had kids (18+) but we still come back when we have a babysitter and are in the area. The chicken fajita wrap and patty melt are all time favorites. The Boathouse Grill is one of my go-to joints when I need some comfort food, and nothing better than a bowl of their hot steamy clam chowder! My server Rachael was a delight and she greeted me with a smile and made me feel right at home. My food was served quickly and my hot food was hot and my cold food was cold! This place has some of the best clam chowder around! The dinner salad is just kind of average but at least it served cold and fresh.. Tonight was steak night and it looked delicious but I was just in the mood for soup and salad. I had a full meal including a soda for 13 bucks! Pretty hard to beat. I have come here for many years and not as often as I should...I chose here for Mother's Day because mama likes ice cold beer (check!) and a yummy Italian beef sandwich from here! This place has that small hometown feel to it and all the staff are very friendly. We came in during 25% capacity on a early Saturday evening and it was at capacity. They do have a patio however it was a bit too warm for us so we chose inside. Service was very prompt and we got our food quickly too. The drinks are always on point and good specials too! Food is great as well, I had the wings and they were the perfect amount of taste, although I wish they had more spice level choices for the sauces. Wow. First time I've left a restaurant and been satisfied with both service and food in a LONG time. Pictures below you will find my bacon wrapped filet with loaded mashed potatoes, toast and a sizable (not pictured) side salad. All my food was cooked perfectly (medium rare filet as requested) and tasted fantastic. The kicked? It was $13.95...... wow just wow. I live 2.5 hours away and will find a reason to come back here. Even during a city-wide shutdown, I can count on Boathouse Grill to deliver great smiles and prepare great food! Because we are unable to go in and sit down, my husband and I decided to order to-go! They had our meals ready as soon as I walked in to pick them up. We got the chicken burrito and the Turkey Ruben, and, per usual they tasted amazing ! I would suggest everyone getting a to go order from this local bar who is affected during this time...and after this is all over, I suggest everyone going in and enjoying a meal and drinks with a friend or two. I was nearby the west side of town and tempered I wanted to stop by the boathouse grill. They have a small bar and grill and have a decent selection of food and drink. The place was very busy but luckily a booth had come available within 5 minutes. I noticed the special was a fried shrimp dinner. The dinner comes with two sides so one of those I decided to go with the gumbo. The gumbo came out first and was quite good. I probably would have liked more spice too it and it could have been a little thicker but for Indiana it was pretty good. The shrimp were fairly plentiful on the plate all fried up and they had already removed the rails. They tasted pretty good with a decent breading and were not overly fried. I didn't taste any off tones from oil that had been used too long either. The size of the shrimp were medium and for my other side I selected the mashed potatoes. I wouldn't recommend them as they were on the dry side most likely from being made and being kept warm for a while. The fries are probably a better option but I didn't want fries this evening. The service was ok until the end of our meal. It took a very long time to get the bill and pay it after we had been done with our meal for a while. I still thought the dinner special was a pretty good deal for the price and they did have a large bar with most any drink you might want. read more

After meeting our son to look at his latest construction project, he suggested coming to Boathouse Grill for lunch. He had eaten here about ten times during the project and said he really liked everything he tried. So although I wasn't thrilled on my previous visit, I decided to give it a try. And I am glad I did! Although not much has changed in the three years since my last visit, this time I ordered the Italian Beef (served on a hoagie) and it was delicious! The giardiniera veggies, Provolone cheese, and the au jus made a wonderful combination with the tender sliced beef. The bread held up well even after dipping it in the sauce. It was soft and thin enough bread to not make this difficult to get a full bite. My wife said her taco salad had a crispy shell and the seasoned chicken had a pleasant taste. Thought the sauce was just a little hot, but other than that, she really enjoyed her meal too. The place does get full around lunch time and quite noisy. The waitress got busier as the crowd rolled in, so other than it taking a little longer to get our check and processed out, the service was good. The Boathouse Grill is located really close to Eagle Creek Park. When you walk in go ahead and seat yourself. We didn't know that and they didn't have a seat yourself sign up. So, we asked someone and they said go ahead and seat yourself. Now we know! The music selection was great and at the perfect volume! The decorations are eclectic and work well with their boat theme! The main boat is the center piece of the restaurant which is lit up. You can grab a bowl of fresh popcorn when you walk in. They had numerous batches popping all the time we were there. The taco salad I got was full of huge chunks seasoned chicken, jalapeños, salsa, and numerous other vegetables. It was so good. They had TVs airing various sports, shows, and news. I've been dying to get back here since my first very positive experience eating here last November with my daughter. That time we arrived at the height of lunch rush hour and the only seats available in this quaint little place were a few at the bar. We soon discovered why this restaurant was so popular. Katie was tending the bar and she really brightened our day! She provided us menus and kindly answered our questions about menu items and made helpful suggestions. (She's at the bar today also) As you enter, there is a chalkboard to the side featuring the day's specials and a welcoming sign inviting you to seat yourself. The atmosphere is casual and relaxing, with 70's hits tunes playing in the background, and ambience, soft lighting, and miscellaneous sports, gaming, and fishing memorabilia decorating the walls and flat screen TVs throughout. I called it a quaint little place, but it's actually quite larger on the inside than it's storefront would lead you to think. (Kind of like Doctor Who's T.A.R.D.I.S. lol) Back to my review... The staff is very friendly and very engaged with their guests. Today we arrived an hour earlier than last time and were able to grab an empty table across from the bar where we sat last time. Shortly thereafter, Joy, our friendly waitress welcomed us, gave us menus, and told us about the specials and took our drink orders. I asked for a Coke and my daughter had iced water with a lemon slice. I tried the Pork Tenderloin Sandwich (grilled, not breaded, with tomatoes, lettuce, onions, and pickles) and substituted French Fries as my side instead of their Homemade Kettle Fries (which are good, too. Had them on my first visit with my Roast Beef and Cheddar Sandwich and bowl of Chili). My daighter asked for the Roast Beef and Cheddar Sandwich and substituted for French Fries like I did. I also selected the Bait Strips (battereddeep-fried & New England clams) as an appetizer. Before too long we were enjoying our clam strips and then shortly after our sandwiches. I had heard good things about this place from my coworkers, so I finally decided to give it a try. I placed a to go order on my lunch break and it was ready when I arrived. I ordered the Boathouse Club sandwich and a bowl of chili. I was a little taken aback that my total was $17, but my portions were large. The sandwich was thick, and I ended up saving the chili for dinner that evening. The sandwich came with chips and the meal was good. Chili was really tasty as well. The staff I encountered was friendly. It's a small pub with a long bar. There is additional outside seating when the weather permits. I'll probably give it another try. read more

You only have to take a peak at the ceiling to understand why it is properly named the boathouse (boat secured to the ceiling) . With close proximity to eagle creek reservoir you will find many boat owners frequent this establishment. At the Boathouse you will not experience the same old weak bar food. There is definitely extra love and care in every plate they make. My favorites include the huge fish sub, loaded nachos and of course the SALMON BURRITO!
