We ate at Bob Evans two mornings during our visit. We had a nice server, and she was clearly in charge. On Sunday morning, she had help, but the next visit she was working solo, yet she kept everything flowing. Over two visits, the best thing we tasted was the Blue Ribbon bacon - essentially a syrup & black pepper mix poured over the perfectly cooked bacon. All the breakfasts come with a side, and I was pleased to find a fruit cup was one of the options. It was different than most fruit cups in that it had bananas and apples, as well as blueberries. The Griddle Stacker is a triple-decker breakfast Sammy made on pancakes. Their breakfast biscuit sandwiches are made on biscuits that are tasty, yet sturdy enough to hold up to the construction of a sandwich. We've all had those biscuits that totally crumble when you try to bite into sandwich - these do not, and yet they are light. The prices are reasonable. The location is convenient (so close to the Hampton you can walk over in just a minute). Overall, this place is a win. read more

Had the key supervisor, Jamie. Absolutely terrible experience. Took forever to be acknowledged, did not greet us once she came over, not a single normal server exchange, went straight into what are you having...etc, etc. All of her section was looking around at each other like what the hell is going on. I truly cannot believe this place is functioning with such terrible staff. I can't remember the last like I did not tip generously, but I left her 10% tip and did not feel bad at all. I AM SO SO UPSET! I ordered two Thanksgiving meals for my 92 years old mom and myself through Uber earlier this week. I had scheduled it to be delivered between 3-3:30 on Thanksgiving Day. At 2:34 I get a message from Uber that the order was cancelled. Apparently for whatever reason they said the merchant, Bob Evan's cancelled the order. I called them and was on the phone waiting for them to answer the call and they would not pick up. I was originally 2nd in line then 1st, then next. It would ring, then take me back to the recording about answering as soon as they can. It kept going back and forth between the two. Needless to say, I was very angry that they did this to us on Thanksgiving of all days. If it was any other day, I would not have been so upset. After waiting half an hour, I hung up! I then called back choosing another phone option and they still did not answer. The second time I was on the phone for almost ten minutes and no answer. Same recording going back and forth. Bob Evans, for me (raised in California) is comparable to Marie Calendars. The food is ok, the service was only ok. The decor was inviting and bright. Meatloaf was very well advertised, however, I did not care for it at-all. The pancakes, if you have an IHOP nearby, go to that instead. Breakfast items I ordered were the sausage patties with scrambled eggs and bacon too. All of it was just your regular typical low-end stuff. Stick to Denny's or if you have, IHOP is better. Better yet, go to a real restaurant like First Watch. The chicken fried steak was awesome and very well made. The potatoes on the breakfast plate could definitely have been cooked longer to develop a better taste and texture. I finished my water literally about 10seconds after it was put down, but it didn't get refilled till about 15 mins later after the food was brought out, although the two nearby tables did get better service. It's a knockoff crackerbarrel. It's a old time eatery that makes things like country friend steak, but it's low quality. However the staff makes up by being expedient and friendly so there is that. The entire menu is very affordable, so if you want a quick no frills dinner for the family that will be prepared quickly, this should be put on the list. Went for breakfast and were greeted right away. A nice young kid sat us. He saw a couple crumbs on the booth and wiped down before we sat. We were then greeted by our server. I asked for a hot tea. She came back with a small pot of hot water , a saucer with a cup, lemon , honey and a tea bag. All the tea fixings! I ordered my usually sunrise breakfast. I've been wanting to write a review about this place for sometime now but I've been hoping for my experiences to get better, and they certainly did. This morning we stopped in for a quick breakfast before heading to work and to our surprise we actually had great service and great food this time. Once we came in for breakfast before work and the hostess seated us but no server came to our table. After waiting about 10 min we walked to the hostess stand to ask where our server was and she apologized that she forgot to tell our server that we were seated. After we ordered and got our food, we found a hair in the food. So that was a total turn off. We took a few months off from visiting this place and every other time we stopped in the service was bad. The hostess wasn't warm and greeting like a hostess should be, the service always seemed to take a long time. However, this time we had a great experience. We went there on a Tuesday evening, there were hardly any people there but still the service was very slow and minimal at best. It took quite a bit of time for us to be seated which was surprising since there were only two other customers in the restaurant at the time. Everything from the quality of food to the quality of service to trying to find someone to ring us up when we were finished and wanted to leave was sub standard and lacking. The young staff which included the one server, a cook, and the front of the house/cashier all seemed to be having a good time jamming to music that was coming out of the kitchen and hanging out in the kitchen laughing and swearing at each other. I just had the worst experience at a restaurant that I have ever had at this place. Period. We arrived at 11 and were told there would be a ten minute wait. The whole lobby was full of people waiting at this time. When we went back to be seated we saw that there were three or four tables actually being occupied. The rest were open. There didn't appear to be any shortage of workers either to explain that. When we got seated "Jamie" our server came over, no hello, no welcome. "What do you want to drink?" Was the only word she spoke to us. After placing our orders, sitting with empty coffees and waters for a half hour, a bus boy noticed the confused look on our faces and asked if we were okay. We asked for our food to be packaged to go since we had somewhere to be and honestly couldn't wait any longer. Well that really inconvenienced Jamie, but we got our food packed to go and left. Never returning. We didn't go to Bob Evans for 5 star service, and we didn't expect to have the most awesome experience ever, but being acknowledged by our server and a "hello" was something we did expect (after all, she IS working for a tip). This was just so unpleasant for both me and my husband. I wouldn't even be willing to give this place another shot. Bob Evans isn't my favorite place to eat but, I do like their pot roast sandwich, fried chicken, & wildfire chicken salad at the Middleburg Heights location. Not all chains are the same. I ordered the pot roast sandwich with a side of mac & cheese. I really shouldn't have. The sandwich was kind of soggy when I got it & the meat didn't look very appetizing. The mac & cheese was COLD & I had to ask the server to take it back. I really didn't care for the server, she seemed like she had an attitude & was very forgetful. Not only that, there was hardly anyone in the restaurant at the time & it took awhile to get my table's food. The best thing this Bob Evans has going for it is that it is right next to the hotel, and even in the rain we could walk there. After a long day of driving, that was as much as I was up for, but I wished I'd taken more time to find a better place to eat. Was visiting West Lake Ohio with family for the weekend and wanted to treat them to breakfast our first experience wasn't very good the skinny guy with red hair and a red goatee sat several parties ahead of us, When I asked why he said he didn't have a table big enough for five people even though half of the restaurant was empty he mentioned social distancing which of course we respect however I've managed several restaurants and asked if we could take a walk through dining room together so I can explain how we can be seated immediately with three chairs on one side of the table and two chairs on the other side to not block the fire exit or violate social distancing guidelines..he agreed to this -so thankfully problem solved - not rocket science but I understand there are changes to seating policies now..however on the way out the same employee, now acting as cashier -while paying forced us to leave a credit card tip (even though we left $10 cash on the table (and we told him this already) but he insisted that "The credit card machine will NOT accept zeros on a credit card tip /" so apparently THIS Bob Evans restaurant is illegally FORCING you to tip on a credit card / soooo not OK....whether you like it or not!!! Then he reminded my wife again he said he wants "to make sure you did not want to leave a larger than .1 cent tip?" For the second time reminded him that we left cash tip on the table....NEVER coming back here again . I almost walked back to the table to take the $10 cash tip BACK but that's not fair to the server whom while couldn't identify the difference between the "breakfast burger" and "the bacon burger " (I told her that the breakfast burger has hashbrowns on it- she looks rather confused but then admitted that that was correct) and that our server was great food took a long time to come out but it was good when it did come out this location definitely needs some help with customer service) HORRIBLE HOST / CASHIER SERVICE /but same guy so maybe he just needs better training - but it's a shame because we will not return to bob Evans chain at any location after this- read more
