The open late night which is great if you're craving for boba drinks at night. I have the non caffeine brown sugar milk with boba, the boba was good, just the right texture, not too hard to chew. The service was great and stuff was helpful. It's located in downtown where parking is a bit pricey and limited. The exterior dining area is pretty nice.
Food: 4/5 Service: 5/5 Ambiance: 4/5 I got a mulberry soda, it was decent! There was no caffeine either. The flavor was fun and light, it tasted like syrups though. Service was very friendly and asked if I needed help and then suggested what I could do with the drinks when I asked about non-caffeinated options. They have a cute setup with crocheted figurines to purchase on the side too! Lighting is a bit dark, seating is limited indoors but they have outdoor seating. It's up a short flight of stairs and there's two doors to get through to access the place
I ordered a Thai milk tea with boba, some garlic fries, and popcorn chicken with dynamite sauce. The portions for the chicken and fries were great and could feed several people! I really liked the garlic sauce on the fries. A strong garlicky flavor. The chicken was cooked well, but I wish the pieces of chicken were bigger. The milk tea was ok. It tasted mostly of milk with a hint of Thai tea flavor.

You can order with the cashier or on the tablet in the front as soon as you walk in. I got the Banana cream matcha latte and my friend got one of the fruit teas. I was not impressed by the matcha flavor and didn't taste the cream just the crumbs on top. My friend said her drink was good but not great. They have little claw games inside and there was plenty of seating but I wouldn't come back to try any of there drinks when there's 5 other spots I prefer over this one

Cute little spot inside a cozy and comfortable Victorian house. Big window/nice porch and patio area. Must love downtown San Jose. Park SJ 90-minutes free parking garage is just diagonally across the street off San Carlos. Staffs were ready at 11am as I entered as first customer on a Wednesday morning. They accept all kinds of credit cards. Boba Bar is operated by Vietnamese people. Location is very convenient. There's a banh mi place next door inside another Victorian house too (I'll check it out next time). I like the honey green jasmine milk tea $5.95. Kim cheese fries plain $9.95 was ok too, but it had much more kimchi in it than potato fries. Small portion of sour cream in it. Very cheesy that cheese fully sticks tight to the fries. Not bad. I really had to dig into the bottom to find fries. Fried chicken wings 5-pieces $7.45 with salt and pepper was dry and overdone, seriously with too much salt. I might not order it again as the salt was an overkill. Prices look pretty decent and not as expensive as other boba and snack places. There were longer lines after 11:30am, but at 11am, it was quiet and a breeze for ordering over the counter. Must give them credit here. It's a unique place for SJSU students and faculty members to enjoy. I would come back for beverages, but not sure about chicken wings. Overall, decent good stop at this small family owned business.
I ordered a jasmine milk tea, 50% sweetness, less ice on the kiosk and only had to wait a little bit before my drink came out. The first sip I took did not taste like anything at all and tasted so diluted there was no tea left in the drink. The boba itself was good though as it was soft, chewy, and really tasted like sweet. I brought my drink back in and asked if they could add more sugar to it and the worker was happy to do so. After the addition, it tasted better and I could taste a little bit of the jasmine, but overall wasn't a good drink. Honestly kinda disappointing.
Catering for 80 was amazing! Ordered via EZ catering website and we got a variety of teas and three toppings. One bag of ice was plenty for a staff of 80. Order was delivered on time and took less than 10 minutes to set up. Definitely will be catering again! Favorites were the passionfruit, strawberry green tea, Thai and jasmine milk tea. We opted for lychee jelly, honey boba and tapioca pearls. TY for making our lunch time epic!
This review is only for their popcorn chicken, which I ordered through DoorDash. The portion size was pretty significant compared to other boba spots, so I was already pretty satisifed when I received my order; however, I was disappointed to find that despite the chicken still being warm, most of the pieces were dry. The chicken was fried well (very light crisp) and seasoned well (plus the creamy chili sauce, while not spicy at all, was yummy). I think the issue is the pieces are too small even for popcorn chicken, to the extent that the skewers they provided could not pick up the tiny pieces and I had to use the skewers like chopsticks instead. I'd give it a 3.5 stars if I could but default to 4 rather than 3 because the flavors and portion size were good. I wouldn't order this again though
This is my second time in recent going to Boba Bar near SJSU. The service is a little lacking as you never really speak with an employee other than when you're picking your drink up, if even. You order through a mobile kiosk and it's pretty quick and efficient. This is my second time getting the taro milk tea with boba and I believe it was about $8 which is average pricing in the bay and in San Jose. I had gotten egg rolls which were around $3.75 for 3, which I thought was a pretty good price. The milk tea in the drink was delicious, very creamy in a way. The boba was also very good not too soft or too hard. The egg rolls were delicious. The dipping sauce it came with was a great compliment to the egg rolls. The egg rolls were crunchy and warm, very tasty. The only downside I have with Boba Bar is that it takes quite a while to prepare your order despite not that many people being in the shop. However, it's still a good boba location.
Cute little boba shop in downtown San Jose. The space is on the smaller side, so it can get a bit crowded when it's busy, but the interior is really charming and has a nice vibe. I ordered the brown sugar boba. It wasn't the best boba I've ever had, but it was still really good and definitely hit the spot. The staff were friendly, and the service was quick. Overall, it's a solid place to grab a drink, and I'd definitely come back to try some of their other teas the next time I'm in San Jose. read more

The popcorn chicken and fries were really disgusting. The chicken pieces were the size of a fingernail, harder than a rock, and soooo dry. Tasted like a bunch of crunchy batter. The fries looked old and gray and drenched in oil. Highly do not recommend!!!! read more

Cute small shop in San Jose. Parking only available on the street but I usually don't have a problem finding a spot. Decent milk tea and popcorn chicken. I like that they have a big variety of drink and snack options. Not my favorite boba spot in SJ but gets the job done! read more

I am pregnant and was craving a taro milk tea ordered because I know it has no caffeine!!! I receive my drink and checked it it did not look like lychee drank it and confirmed it was coffee bits. Had to throw away my drink you guys need to check what people order. read more

Got this at work as a reward and I ordered the Lychee green tea with crystal boba and aloe Vera and I must say it was good. Could use a bit more lychee flavor but nonetheless I enjoyed it. Definitely help keep me awake during my long night shift. read more

First, the boba, jelly, bits don't come with the drinks. So its a separate price. We got the Mango Slush, Peach slush, and the Strawberry smoothie. The strawberry smoothie didn't have enough strawberry flavor. So it tasted like a weak strawberry milk. The mango slush was good. The peach was alright. It wasnt very slush. It was more liquid. The place is really busy and the line very long and we waited for about 15 minutes in the line because you could only order on the one kiosk. Which does take some time because the menu is a bit on the medium size. The room isn't that big either and theres not many tables, maybe about 5 or 6. Overall it was an ok boba shop. read more

Go to Boba in downtown San Jose. I go to the gym nearby and this is the Goto spot for me and my Climbing Buddy every time we're wanting a little sweet snack or even a savory meal. When it comes to Boba, I always get the standard black milk tea with pearls and they have options on how much ice and how sweet you can make your Boba, which is nice. I always select 75% sweetness no ice with pearls. There is also an amazing food menu that blew me away. I had the fried eggplant and tofu and I could not believe my taste buds when I tasted this food. Obviously, I did not have high expectations. I really just came here for the Boba, but the tofu was fry to perfection and the sauce that they used, which I believe was a teriyaki sauce was absolutely delicious. It's such a cute atmosphere is super hipster and just takes me back to my college days. Highly recommend. read more
Not bad, but there's definitely better bubble tea spots downtown. I had the caramel milk tea which wasn't bad, I wish it had more tea flavor though. Solid 3.5/5 It's easy to order at the kiosk or you can order at the counter. Definitely lots of options to suit everyone's needs. read more

Prices are way too high. I can tell the quality has really declined over the years, which is such a shame because this used to be one of my favorite spots! Braised Pork Belly Bowl: The pork belly was dry, the broccoli undercooked, and there was no sauce so the entire bowl was very dry! The rice was great though. It also comes with an egg, but I'm not the biggest hard-boiled egg fan. Crème Brûlée Boba Latte: This is actually quite good! The crème brûlée top is perfectly crunchy, and the drink is nice and creamy. I will say the boba texture is not the best; I'm a slow drinker and ended up throwing the drink out because the boba got gross. The aesthetics inside are so cute as well! It is a small storefront so it does get crowded fast. Overall, although I have many fond memories of Boba Bar, I probably won't be returning. $25 for a simple meal and a drink is simply too expensive for the mediocre quality. read more
Very convenient food spot for SJSU students since it's right off campus. I didn't get boba this time around though I'd say it's decent, there are definitely better places but it's not bad at all. The garlic noodles were pretty good but a little plain, you have to add condiments on it yourself. I got the fried tofu with it for the first time and it's not very visually appealing but tasted good. I thought $4 for the tofu itself was expensive though. read more

This place is near SJSU. We dropped by after lunch to buy drinks because it was so darn hot. Order at the kiosk. I got the mint oreo smoothie. The drinks came timely. The smoothie was pretty good. You can taste the mint and it wasn't watered down. This place is inside some historic house. Very interested to know the history of the building. read more
An organization I volunteered with put in a mass order with Boba Bar for an event we were putting on, Boba Bar staff were good about working with us so that we could get all the boba by the beginning of the event and I appreciate that since I know it was a lot more drinks for them to prepare than they normally would be getting orders for. I myself got a strawberry milk tea with mango jelly, the lowest sweetness they were able to do was 50% which was still very sweet. But I liked it overall, I do enjoy strawberry milk tea for that balance between sugary fruity flavor and dairy, and I appreciate that they have some toppings offered like the mango jelly. Overall, a decent option if you're in the downtown San Jose area. read more
It was quiet for a Friday afternoon. We were there around 3 pm and we ordered 6 drinks. It was nice ordering at the computer but if preferred you could order with the cashier up front. They have lots of different options and it tastes really refreshing and light. It's a family friendly location that is mainly Togo but does have some seating with lots of outlets for customers. read more

(This review is based on the last two visits) The shop was small, but lively. Students kept coming in for their drinks and food, so the place was almost packed. My drinks arrived pretty quickly each time I went. I got their Halloween specials: Taro Terror and Spooky Matcha. The taro smoothie was delicious, a good balance between the taro and the ube cream. But the spooky matcha felt like a gimmick because I couldn't taste the sesame on the top of the drink. At least the matcha itself was good. read more

I love love love their Thai tea, but I decided to try their popcorn chicken as well. The portion size was great, but that didn't really matter cus I didn't even want to finish it. Update: I'm updating my review because management called to make things right and apologized to me to make sure nothing like this would happen to me or anyone else. Don't come here if you have autism or any sort of developmental disability, because you will be treated badly and discriminated against. Instead of telling me she didn't want to serve me, I was bullied by a worker who tried to gaslight me about previous orders when telling me that they would not do my usual order, in front of my social worker. She quadrupled down on the lie that you have never been able to add matcha to a crème brûlée drink. I literally have pictures proving that she is lying. To be clear, I'm not complaining about a new policy. It's simply not okay to gaslight customers about their previous experiences in attempts to embarrass them enough to not want to return to the store. Even my social worker noted that her treatment of me was uncalled for, mean, and unnecessary. I had done nothing wrong to merit that sort of treatment. read more

if boba bar ever closed down, I would mourn the fried tofu for the rest of my life. haven't been here since college (2017ish) and am pleasantly surprised that the fried tofu and garlic sauce is as good as i remember. also got the Nutella milk tea and it tasted more like hot cocoa powder but iced. not bad, just not what I expected. read more

Quick service. Tasty boba and smoothies. What more can one ask for?! I sampled (switch with my sister) the lychee rose with lychee bites and honey tapioca, which wasnt my normal but not too shabby. I then had the taro which was very tasty and a nice alternative to regular my carmel milk tea. read more
This is definitely an "out of convenience" type place. My friend, boyfriend, and I came here after we finished climbing for dinner. We ordered a Dirty Thai, Lychee Lemonade with Lychee Jelly, garlic fries, popcorn chicken, fried chicken wings, coconut chicken curry bowl, garlic noodles with a fried egg and pork belly, and garlic noodles with a fried egg and steak. Overall, it was like $100. At this point, you might be thinking "Maggie what is wrong with you guys?" Keep in mind we were tired, sweaty, it was 8 PM, and these guys wanted MEAT. I was crying out... $100 at this place is so not worth. Drinks are mid, the food is okay, but good God my chicken curry bowl was SALTY and the white rice on the side that they gave me was so mushy. Definitely added too much water when they were making it. My boyfriend said his garlic noodles were very very buttery, and he was salty that I finished off the majority of our Lychee Lemonade, but I seriously needed a drink after my very sodium packed curry. Gah. The popcorn chicken was pretty good, the garlic fries were very garlicky, and the chicken wings were just okay. Nothing super remarkable about this place stands out to me other than the optimal location by SJSU and where my friend works. If you actually like boba, don't go here. If you like boba because it's sugary and because you crave a social activity and place to sit with your friends and you're in the area, this will do. read more
