Having found this location in OC was amazing! For the longest time it had only been in NorCal and then in LA so I'm glad it finally reached OC! While there is a parking lot, it's a nightmare on the weekends. From what I heard from friends, it's definitely a lot better during the week. It is located at the CAMP and is such a neat little place though. The aesthetics blend outdoors with indoors. On this day I went, the screen menu wasn't working so the only menu they had was on the counter. Overall, I thought the drinks were the same quality as I've tried in other locations and they even implemented their bamboo straws here as well! Boba Guys is one of the better boba chains in SoCal for sure. I absolutely love the banana milk here; it's one of my favorite boba drinks of all time. Location/Parking: This Boba Guys store is located in this really hipster mini mall, which has some other restaurants and clothing stores. Parking is free in the lot but it can get busy here. The store itself has a walk up counter for you to order or a self-service kiosk. It's outdoory and hipster, with just a few places to actually sit. * Korean Banana Milk ($5.85, 16 oz): I absolutely love this drink. It's creamy and not overly sweet. It doesn't taste like those artificial banana milk drinks from the grocery store. Boba here tends to be firm and chewy, which is good. They use bamboo boba straws here. As someone who avidly gets boba, I was by far disappointed. Boba Guys for a period of time was extremely mainstream and prevalent in social media, so I was eager to try it out after being told by a friend that there was a location in Costa Mesa. I've went here twice, and let's say I wouldn't see myself coming back. I've had both their strawberry matcha and and a tiny bit of their mango matcha. Unfortunately, I was unable to finish both drinks. The matcha was bland and had a distinct taste of bitterness to it. The strawberry matcha was only good during the first sip, as you're drinking the strawberry syrup which carries the flavor. After that, all you're able to taste is watered down matcha. The mango matcha was straight up disappointing. It had a really strange aftertaste and I had enough after the first sip. The boba was huge, but had an extremely weird and plastic like taste to it. The service wasn't anything to look forward to either, just what you'd expect from a local boba shop. For years i've considered Boba Guys as nothing out of the ordinary, considering there's a bunch of amazing tea spots in OC, but i was pleasantly surprised after stopping by again with friends the other day! I've had their strawberry matcha at their SF store many years ago, still a solid drink all-around. I love how they can substitute dairy for other milk options. equality for the lactose intolerants. Unfortunately sweetness can't be adjusted for some of the drinks - which is understandable given it'll change the flavor of some drinks. 3 Blossoms is still my favorite place for matcha, but this place is a staple if you're by the camp/costa mesa area. I also tried the banana milk drink - very creamy and not overly sweet - which was a refreshing twist. I don't really crave boba but when I do it's from Boba Guys. I'm so glad this place is not in San Diego (where I live) otherwise I would be fat. I ordered the 24 oz Strawberry matcha Latte with oat milk and oh man does the oat milk make a big difference. I like that it's not too sweet and very well balanced. One thing I would note is that it's not super cold which might be a turn off for some people but I think it helps bring out the flavor more. Service was fast and great too! The hojicha in the black sugar hojicha latte had a good, strong flavor to it. The one downside about this drink is that they serve it with the black sugar on the bottom of the cup and there's not really a way to really mix it well without spilling some of the drink. Stirring with a straw is your best bet. If you're steering away from tea or coffee, the strawberry jasmine drink is pretty good though a tad sweet (sugar levels are not customizable). I wasn't a fan of the berry hibiscus because of the mint aftertaste. Parking: All the stores within this plaza share the parking lot, so spaces can be hard to find. I fell madly in love with Boba Guys after trying their beverages from 2nd & PCH in Long Beach.. so you could imagine how dangerous it was when I discovered their Costa Mesa location delivers to my apartment. I was finally able to try Boba Guys after several attempts. They were closed during the holiday season, and thankfully they're back and open for business! I really like their drinks! More so because my son, who is very picky, loves it! Growing up, he has always liked 7 Leaves and nothing else. I couldn't get him to switch to my favorite boba milk tea places. Everything had been mediocre for him except this place. He even prefers it more than 7 Leaves. He really LOVES it! Too bad though, cuz the only location in OC is in Costa Mesa, which is a farther drive from us. SERVICE: 5 out of 5 There were 7 of us in our party, and the lady that helped us was very patient even though it took us more than 20 minutes to finalize our order. It was our first time here, and we didn't know what to get. I specifically told her that we're not a fan of overly sweet milk teas, so she took that into consideration and recommended 50% sweetness. Since their drink menu is quite different from the normal boba places, she patiently explained to us each drinks, and used assimilations in describing each type to give us a sense of what to expect from each of the items. I really appreciated her service, and I usually tip minimally when ordering for to-go, but she totally earned a full 20% tip from us for being so patient, and incredibly helpful. DRINKS: 4 out of 5 VALUE: Comparable to its competitors I have my own biases and favorites, but in all honesty, I like how different their selections are. If I'm ever in the SCP area, this is the first choice for boba milk tea over 7 Leaves, Feng Cha, or other boba milk tea places in the area. However, I wouldn't pick it over Yifang. This was my first time trying Boba Guys and I was NOT disappointed! Originally, I had though that their drinks would be basic and mediocre but boy was I wrong. I got the Strawberry Tea Fresca and my sister got the Korean Banana Milk. My drink was soo refreshing and fruity, I loved it! I also tried my sister's drink which was very obviously made from real bananas. There were tiny chunks of banana in it, which may sound a little unappetizing, but trust me when I say it was delicious (if you like korean banana milk). 2/7/2022 First time at Boba Guys. Was passing through the Anti-Mall, so decided to order via online. So easy to order and pick-up! Was super quick and no real wait time. STRAWBERRY MATCHA LATTE - 16 OZ Ordered this with Organic Strauss Whole Milk. No sugar level adjustments made. You gotta make sure you mix the whole drink together well before consumption. If you don't mix it well, the sweet strawberry puree sits on the bottom and the whole drink tastes overly sweet. But when the full drink is mixed well together, it is not sweet at all! You can mostly taste a lightly sweetened Matcha flavored drink. Strangely, the strawberry flavor disappears. But before mixing it, you can taste both flavors separately. Adding whole milk is what made this drink creamy too. The boba was firm and slightly chewy, but overall on the harder side. Didn't enjoy the boba, as I Iike a more softer, squishy, yet chewy texture. The boba was not sweet either, but I prefer a slightly sweeter boba flavor. So paying an extra 65 cents just for boba, does not make this girl happy. Overall enjoyed the drink and liked it, but would I order again? Not really. I'm happy trying this once. And yes, the recycled boba straws were digusting to drink with. When you first walk in you're greeted by a bunch of greenery and boho/rustic decor. There's a digital menu on tv screens up above, but when you get the counter to order, there's a paper menu with pictures in front of the cashier. I opted for what the employee said was one of their most popular drinks, the strawberry matcha with oat milk. Apparently you can't adjust the sweetness for this particular drink, but he did mention it was about 50% Sweet which is perfect for me. Then you pick up your drink at a smaller counter with a window next to the cashier. Apparently you can also order online ahead of time and pick it up when it's ready. Ok you guys, I really, really like the drinks here. So much so, when I go here I double fist it and get two drinks for ME only. When my friends first told me about this place I'm not gonna lie - I had serious doubts. First of all it's in The Camp so I thought oh I dunno - about a great boba place in The Camp (I hail from 626 where there's a legit hole in the wall boba shop or Taiwanese transplant chain on every corner). Then during our friendsgiving, my friend's boyfriend ordered it as his contribution to our potluck, and oh my goodness. It washed away all my doubts and no joke, sometimes when I have their drinks it legit makes me all warm and fuzzy and for a moment while I'm drinking it, I believe in humanity again and have hope for the future. First things first, the drinks here do fair on the lightly sweet side. Some drinks cannot be adjusted but overall, I think their drinks even at 100% sweetness are lightly sweet. The ones where you can adjust may be sweeter. For reference my preference is typically anywhere from 30 to 50% sweetness and 0% sweetness if I'm having a fruity tea. Next you can make milk substitutions! They have coconut, almond and oat milk. For those of you that like milk, they do have organic straus milk which they use. As for toppings, they offer boba, coffee jelly and almond jelly as toppings. Onto the drinks. The drinks are all really refreshing, especially when you substitute for a non-dairy option. Sometimes dairy can make me feel a little mucus-y after, but I don't get that with these drinks. They're so easy to drink I can easily drink two in one sitting (please don't judge me). I've had: Black Sugar Hojicha with boba This is for those of you who like hojicha and black sugar drinks. It has an earthy nutty flavor and is supposedly mineral rich from the kuromitsu they use for the black sugar syrup. You cannot adjust the sweetness on this and I believe for reference this fairs on the half sweet side of things. The boba was also great and had that qq chew even when delivered! Ube Latte This is made with an ube marmalade (halaya jam) with coconut milk. I love adding almond jelly to this drink. It's very refreshing like a juice tea is, without being a juice tea - and I'm wondering if that's because of the coconut milk. Also, hands down, this is the first place I've had almond jelly in a drink, and honestly, it's also the best place I've had almond jelly in a drink. Instead of cubes, I think they cut the jellies into thin slants. It just seems overall easier to get through the straw. The ube does come up in teeny tiny bits, similar to if you've had halo halo, and has a nice subtle flavor. Strawberry Rice Milk This drink is also super refreshing. I think it's cuz of the rice milk and strawberry. I also love adding almond jelly to this drink. My co-worker also swears by their classic black milk tea. This place like most places in The Camp definitely has a hipster vibe to it, but in all the ways that matter for a hipster boba shop. There's a lot of thought into the flavor offerings (tea is real brewed tea from Tea People, dairy is organic from Straus, they offer an array of non-dairy options, syrups and sweeteners are all house made from real ingredients - no fructose. On the sustainability front - they use bamboo fiber straws which are not only great (no soggy straws here) but are super compostable within 4 month time span. Service has always been fast and friendly. The only thing that can be a pain is parking at The Camp on weekends - but it's pretty easy on weekdays. Lastly, if you're not wanting to venture out, they do deliver on Doordash! Not sure why this location has 3.5 stars. I really enjoyed my experience here. Parking is definitely a mess because it's in the Camp complex which is full of trendy shops, restaurants, and second hand shops, but I was able to find a spot in the 10 minute parking for a quick grab and go experience. I was able to make my order online, so by the time I got there it was ready. I ordered the matcha with almond milk, 50% sweetness, with boba. I was going to order the classic matcha strawberry since I see that one everywhere on social media, but you can't change the sweetness on that one. What a bummer right! Anyways, I got there about 15 minutes later than my pick up time because of the parking situation there, but they were so sweet and offered to remake the drink for me! I really appreciated that!! It took no time at all for the new drink to come out, and I was in and out probably within 5 minutes of parking. The drink itself was pretty good! The matcha flavor tasted pretty good quality, but not as strong as I expected. The boba was soft, but it's on the firmer side of soft, but it has a nice sweet coating which I loved. I've heard of Boba Guys through a few YouTube videos and social media articles regarding the boba shortage this summer. They seemed to have a decent business model from what I could see, and I was curious to give them a try if I was near a location. They took over the former cafe/restaurant space next to 2nd Street Japan and turned it into a cute walk-up cafe with some seating under the covered area. The space is modern and clean - perfect to sit or stand under on a warm, sunny day. You walk up to the counter to order your drink and it will come out at the Pick-up window to the left of the register. They do have alternative milk options for those who are dairy-free or lactose intolerant. (Oat milk and almond milk) The gal who waited on me was quick and pleasant. I ordered their black milk tea in a 16 Oz with half sweetness, oat milk, and boba. Prices were comparable to other bubble tea places I've gone to. At this time they seem to be doing card only transactions. Drink took only 2 minutes tops. They encouraged me to let them know if I needed adjustments. I had to run more errands so I took my cup to go and enjoyed it in the car. Was glad I did 50% sweetness and a 16oz because the boba was very sweet. There were floral notes in their black tea, which was a bit off putting at times and didn't balance well with the other components of the drink. Boba was a good consistency but I did have to toss the rest because it got a little too sweet. Eventually, my stomach didn't care for the drink and I felt a bit nauseous for about an hour after I finished the drink. While the team was nice, the location was cute, and they were trying to make a conscious effort by offering compostable straws, I don't think I'll be coming back here again. Omg I'm so excited they opened one in OC!!! They're currently in their "soft opening" stages so check their hours before you go. It's located across the Natives Cafe. There's only one register so the line can go by slowly. WHAT I TRIED : Strawberry matcha - my go to and my absolute fave. A little sweet. Mango Matcha Fresca - this one has sparkling water in it so I wasn't a fan. The mango flavor was overpowered by the bubbles. Banana milk - basically banana flavored milk. Also a little sweet but it's good. CONS : all their drinks seem to be premade so you can't adjust sweetness level. I saw them pouring out drinks from cartons that's why your drinks will come out fast. Since it's located at the Camp, parking can also be a hassle. read more

first time coming here . heard abt the boba guys hype from SF. the boba is pretty solid. good and chewy and i like how they offer these environmental friendly bamboo boba straws too. cant recommend the thai tea drink though, it tastes watered down and near/worse to canned thai tea you find at the supermarket. the strawberry matcha was fairly good but heads up, if you stir the strawberry/syrup too much like how one would stir a brown sugar boba drink, itll mix out and taste pretty bland. first few sips will be good, the rest? customer service is fair, reasonable wait time but parking is small and packed bc the overall area is popular read more
