I first came here about 2 years ago with a friend and thought it was fairly decent. I decided to order drinks for pickup vis Doordash since I was in the area today. I ordered Love Potion with honey boba and brown sugar milk tea with honey boba at 75% sweetness. I got there way earlier than expected since I hadn't yet been notified by Doordash that my order was ready but the staff were really nice and I got my drinks within 5 minutes of walking in. Great customer service. However the drinks were WAY too sweet. I tried a sip of the Love Potion and it tasted like I was drinking lotion. The drink was so thick it tasted like I was drinking straight heavy cream and there was no creme brûlée pudding in the drink - So it was just extra flavoring for the extra $.75? Out of all the boba spots in SJ, I always end up here. Their tea and boba has NEVER let me down. They actually make THE BEST honey green tea-- I order this at every tea spot and haven't had one better than bobaholics. Their tea flavor is strong and isn't overwhelmingly sweet like other places. I mean it when I say I get it at least once a week. Their jasmine milk tea and the trouble in paradise smoothie is really good too! Inside is modern with cute decor and sofas. They have a good amount of space/tables which is great to hang out with friends/family over tea and some snacks. They have a pretty extensive food menu but their popcorn chicken, fries, and fried mushrooms are super yummy. I just can't become addicted to what I tried today. Bobaholics is a spot in a busy restaurant-filled plaza. Although they do offer food, they're probably best suited as your post-meal fix for bubble tea / milk tea / boba / whatever you prefer. The interior looks inviting, and they offer Wi-FI so that you can be productive on the couches or relaxed at the tables. Or is it the other way around? The menu is large and clearly legible, and the atmosphere is quiet (or perhaps silent - I can't recall due to being distracted). I wanted to try the Hojicha Milk Tea ($5 for 24 oz) after seeing it on some Yelp photos, and it's now on their main menu. I greatly appreciated that I was able to customize sweetness (50% for me) and ice (light ice, i.e. between zero and normal ice), and both results seemed appropriate. I likely could've gone for 75% sweetness and not found it very sweet. However, I just couldn't pick up more than a whisper of the hojicha flavor which I've become accustomed to enjoying whether it's in milk teas, smoothies, or soft serve ice creams. It's either that they're skimping on this, or their creamer is somehow wiping out the flavor. Either way, I'd be wary of ordering other milk teas if this is how they're presenting hojicha. I wish that I could give a stronger rating to Bobaholics. I liked seeing the extensive menu (with coffees too) and ability to customize drinks, but the execution fell too flat. This review is based on COVID times. I tried to call to order ahead and save some time, however, they never answered their phones both times I tried to call. They have a huge drape separating where the customers are and where the staff is. They require all customers to wear masks and have signs up saying no more than 5 people inside at a time. When I arrived, there was only 1 person in front of me. However, the line quickly grew and there were about 6 groups of people behind me. Once I ordered I stood to the side to wait for my drink and food. As the customers would order, they would also wait in the store. At one point I believe there were about 8+ customers inside the store despite the many signs saying maximum of 5 people only. Unfortunately, none of the employees enforced the 5 person rule, therefore, we were packed in their like sardines attempting to social distance. For my drink, I ordered the compassion fruit tea. This was a good tea if you are looking for something fruity and refreshing. The popcorn chicken was flavorful and paired well with the french fries. The cajun fries and the seasoning of the popcorn chicken had a nice spice to it. The sampler portion is pretty large and is great to share with others, I was unable to finish the whole thing myself. My favorite thing I tried at this place was their house sauce. I was allowed to pick one sauce with my sampler and chose the house sauce. The lady at the counter described it like a chik fil a sauce and she was very on point! If your a fan of the chik fil a sauce, then I highly recommend getting this sauce. Despite the many orders they received at once, they were very quick and efficient with the orders, I probably waited about 7 minutes total for my whole order. I was definitely impressed with our first time trying this place out. Was in the area & needed a boba fix, and found this place. It was a little busy inside, but we were front of line right away. I was surprised at how fast our order was ready. I literally pulled out my credit card, and our drinks were ready! 100% the fastest boba order ever, which was crazy impressive. The quality of the drinks we got was awesome too! Perfect boba pearl texture, and the drinks were tasty. We got the Banana Split Milk tea with boba, and Creme Brulee with boba. The Banana Milk Tea had great flavor! Tasted like banana milk, but the tea flavor came through too. I can't really taste the strawberry foam well because the lid wasn't a spout-style lid, just the sealed on plastic. Maybe if they used the other style of lid, the foam would be more noticeable. This was only my 2nd time at Bobaholics. Came to try one of their croffle that was free with a $15 purchase last weekend. Prices for their drinks are fair and they have 32oz cups as an option. Some of their snacks are a bit pricey though. $7.50 for popcorn chicken is a bit ridiculous. The croffle was really tasty and would definitely buy it next time. You can see the layers of croissant in the dough and it was crispy but not overly sweet. I also bought a Pandan waffle which was also tasty. They make some good waffles here. Tried 2 boba drinks, I enjoyed the love potion at 50% sweet. Also tried the compassion at 50% sweet which I think would taste better when it's mango season. The fruit on the drink wasn't ripe and a bit sour and bitter. Service here was ok, the girl wasn't super friendly but not rude either. When I asked if they were offering the free croffle she just nodded once. COVID safety is good. They have a microphone for customers to order which makes it easier because it is hard to understand people when wearing a mask. Also have plexiglass up between the customers and workers. They are only allowing 2 people inside at a time and call your name when your order is ready and it's placed on a table. Really like this boba spot! I was at the airport so wanted to check this place out on the way back and I am really glad I did. First and foremost, the employees were nice! I decided to try their Jasmine milk tea (M), with boba, 75% sugar, and less ice. I checked in on yelp for their free topping deal so my total came out to be $12 flat for 2 of the same drinks. This deal honestly is not too bad for a cup this size. Not to mention they have THREE different sizes, which I thought was pretty cool too! With all that said, I enjoyed my milk tea. I placed an ordered on Door Dash for pick up and I have to say its very true to the time it's estimated for pickup, about 20 mins yesterday and today. We ordered the jasmine milk tea with grass jelly (50% sweetness) and the strawberry milk tea with strawberry popping boba (25% sweetness). The jasmine milk tea was decent. The sweetness of the milk tea paired well with the herbal flavor of the grass jelly. Jasmine flavor wasn't too strong, but it was ok. My friend who ordered the strawberry milk tea was not pleased. Her milk tea, at 25% sweetness, ended up tasting like water (I tried it as well and can vouch). I had wanted to order this with soy milk since my friend is lactose intolerant and the cashier recommended that we still used cow's milk for the right texture. There was the option to swap for lactose-free milk to make that happen. Since my friend wasn't vegan, this was totally okay. He reported the drink was luxuriously decadent and full of brulee flavor. I honestly don't think he will settle for boba from anywhere else now. This drink has set the bar pretty high! For my second visit, I ordered the Thai Matcha Soy Milk Tea with boba and coffee jelly. I totally blanked and forgot to tell them to make it less sweet. Totally my mistake!! I thought maybe I could try to take it at full sweetness after my drink was made but I couldn't. Bobaholics is what I like to describe as reliable. It's a milk tea shop that has saved my butt from "boba deficiency"* many times in the past due to its convenience and late light schedule. It may have not won me over completely, but it certainly can be a great addition to your personal boba rush. As I've been here many times in the past, I can't list all of the drinks I have tried. However, I would highly recommend the Jasmine Milk Tea and the Taro Milk Tea. I have tried the Genmaicha, the Hokkaido, and a few other premium brews but was left disappointed by how it was barely reaching the taste and strength that I would find in decent boba. Nothing wrong with staying simple, especially with how extensive their menu is. (They serve pho here? A possibility in the future!) No customer satisfaction guarantee, however. And the pearls themselves aren't even trying to be memorable; they just exist so you can reasonably call your drink "boba". Some additional notes: the customer service is pretty good. The time it takes to get your order can vary; on some occasions, I would find my order is complete within less than a minute and on other occasions, that same order can take roughly eight to ten minutes. Friday nights and Saturday afternoons are the most packed according to the cashier I talked to, but you already knew that. Lottery machine available. Free wifi! As aforementioned, opened really late during Fridays and Saturdays, making Bobaholics one of the few places you can legitimately perform a midnight boba rush in. My friends and I came here for some drinks after dinner on a Saturday. There was plenty of parking and there were a lot of people here. They apparently sold lottery tickets here or at least there was a sign outside. The menu had a lot of drinks and I was there to try the Black Milk Tea ($3.75 for a 24oz) with boba ($0.50). The seat bench cushion was super soft so it made us sink lower than the regular chairs attached to the table. Our drinks were ready very quickly. The Black Milk Tea with boba tasted good to me. It was similar to other milk tea places to me. If you were to get the largest side they had, then you'll have difficulties putting that in any cup holder since it was that super wide cup.
