Surprised I haven't reviewed this place. We live close and stop by every now and then but there are so many boba options. My usual go to's are the mango or strawberry smoothie, and depending on what I'm craving, bobo or chichi. There are occasions where my Macu tea is a miss, that could be because I lower the sweetness. I think I've learned my lesson and will not be changing the sweetness of my drinks here from now on! read more

Macu is my favorite fruit tea and smoothie place of all time. No matter how many places I try, I always end up coming back here. The King of Mango is seriously unmatched. Omg, Hey Tea's Mango Cocoboom doesn't even hold a candle to Macu's King of Mango. It's that good. If you come during the summer or early fall when mangoes are in season, it's even better because you can taste how incredibly fresh the fruit is. The drink has the perfect combination of juicy fresh mango, creamy coconut milk, and tea jelly. Every sip is packed with real mango flavor, and it never tastes artificial or overly sweet. It's so refreshing and easily one of my favorite drinks ever. The staff are also some of the kindest people. They're always so friendly and welcoming, and you can tell they really care about their customers. I honestly wish this place got more attention. They're not in the most visible location, so I feel like a lot of people don't even know they're there. They deserve so much more love because the quality is amazing and the service is always wonderful. If you're a mango lover, do yourself a favor and order the King of Mango. We were again in the search for another boba shop. This time it led me to MacuTea. To be honest, I don't remember it but that's probably a good thing cause sometimes remembering a place means it's either really bad or really good. But I did ask my hubby and he's like it's good! So ta-da I'm sure we'll be back one day. L O C A T I O N On N Capitol Ave and Berryessa Rd, there's a plaza and it's on the side. There's parking that's shared with a bunch of other shops, but there's a lot of side walk in front of the place which is nice especially if they plan on having seating outside. I easily found a spot right in front of the place. I N S I D E There's a fair amount of seating inside. It's pretty clean inside. M E N U They have a variety of drinks and interesting options: Chi Chi (cheese foam), Li Li (fruit pulp), Fresh Milk, Brewed Tea, Milk Tea and Drinking Desserts and Specialties. Their toppings start at $1 which is a bit steep but I've seen other spots do this as well. They have an option to upgrade to 1L bottle which you can bring back and get a $0.25 off but it also said it depends on the drink. I got a Classic Black Milk Tea with green tea jelly. Again it's been a couple weeks since I had this drink, but as I said, I don't remember it being bad. So that means it was good. My hubby apparently liked his drink as he remembered it and said we'd come back again. S E R V I C E No one was inside or at the front so I used the kiosk to order. The drink didn't take very long to make which is fantastic. Easily paid with touchless payment. O V E R A L L For not a super busy place during a Wednesday afternoon, it's a good option as you don't have to wait too long. Came here after getting a haircut as it was suggested by my sister that it was good. I love me some mango and this drink did not disappoint. It was delicious. Can't wait to go back and get more. I ordered on a self kiosk and the drink came out relatively quick. There is some seating inside and plenty of parking spaces outside. Ask to have cream on the bottom and every sip is well balanced! Service 4.5/5 It is usually not busy at this location and nothing to complain about for the service. I ordered pick up via door dash and only had to wait like 5 minutes. I was bummed because they had a promotion to buy 2 drinks and get a free tea in store. I already bought my 3 drinks so had I known I wouldn't have ordered via door dash so be sure to check out any promos. The shop is clean and has nice tables inside. My daughter got matcha tiramisu and she said matcha was good but it was more concept of tiramisu lol. The cookie part was more of sprinkling and she felt the cream didn't really taste like tiramisu. My other daughter got bo-bo mango and when I asked she said she didn't taste any mango only jelly lol. So be sure to mix well but they really do jam in the toppings. I got the QQ black tea and it was perfect. The jelly was on the sweeter side or maybe I've been having bland jelly before. Definitely want to come back to try some other drinks. read more

We came for the Taiwanese boba milk tea since we like this chain from Taiwan. I got the tieguanyin milk tea with boba and we got the orange mango lili tea holiday special and a QQ passionfruit green tea. We liked the tea and there was an option to order on the kiosk or at the register and you can adjust you ice and sugar levels. Staff were helpful and nice. Love the mango smoothie here! My favorite thing to get here. It's always good amount of sweetness and it pairs well with the green tea jelly. I don't care for Bo-Bo and they were nice enough to remove it and reduce the price of the topping too! We for the deal for two mango smoothies to get a free winter melon drink (also good). Found this boba place walking around the plaza after eating at Hue! I thought the options were pretty unique and I really wanted to try the Matcha Tiramisu. The kiosk was easy to order on to get the drink and see the menu. My drink was ready in like 5 minutes. It's a small and quaint location, more for grab and go. 7 cups of king of mango later, we're all fans. You can definitely tell they use quality mangos in their drinks. The golden leaf tea was not strong and a bit too thin for me. The black milk tea flavor was also okay. The star is the tieguanyin oolong and I highly recommend! The drink size is also huge. There wasnt much service aside from the employee handing us our drinks. Theres a self order kiosk so no comments on the service. The store is kind of plain and not very comfortable. We got this iced and there's a cute sleeping Snoopy marshmallow on top and the entire cup has perfect, Instagram worthy Snoopy art all over. I stopped by Macu Tea, and I was intrigued to try one of their other grape series drinks. Bo-Bo Grape Smoothie (4/5) - blended frosty grapes, jellies, and fruit pieces that make this a refreshing drink. I appreciate that they use environmentally friendly cups if you do takeout. You can't see the colorful layers of your drink, but it's a tradeoff. If you dine in, you'll be able to see what your drink actually looks like. LOL. read more

Yeah Macu Tea, I owe you an apology. I wasn't really familiar with your game. Me and my friends randomly stumbled upon Macu Tea when walking around the plaza after having dinner at Pho San Jose. It feels like we discovered a hidden gem. We got their promotional smoothie which was only $5. It was loaded with tea jelly which gave the drink a very delightful texture and flavor! This might be one of the best smoothies I've ever had from a boba shop (rivalling N7 in Evergreen). It was a great deal as well, but I'm not sure if it's still available at the time of the writing of this review. The venue was pretty nice too. I enjoyed the ambiance inside, although the location is a bit small. The service was friendly, and although one of their kiosks was broken, the staff stepped in and guided us through the menu. Looking back, if you're looking for a random boba spot to go to after eating at Pho San Jose, I would recommend Macu Tea. read more

I love their grape smoothie with their tea jelly. the tea jelly is SO SO good. i have yet to find another place that has tea jelly. the tea jelly is so soft and the flavor of green tea in the jelly is so strong -- just makes the drink that much better with it. i'm not too crazy for the crystal boba, so i always ask to substitute it for tea jelly instead. their mango is also very delicious as well but my heart always goes back to Grape flavored one. i don't get the one with the cream on top but if you like those cheese top, do try it! i am waiting for Macu to expand to other cities like in Dublin! read more

I think I can see myself having a better time talking with friends at the other Macu location. This location had Snoopy cups, but they did not offer them to any of my drink orders. Omg!!!! This place is a hidden gem! Located on the corner of the plaza. I have been here on multiple occasions by myself and the quality has been good every time. I usually order the milk tea with boba but today I felt a little extra adventurous! So, I order the Mango & Orange Li Li Tea with 10% sweetness and 50% ice. You can literally see small pieces of mangoes and oranges in the tea! It is so good and refreshing! Highly recommended!! In addition, the place is always clean and super fast service! They also have music playing in the background that is soothing and comforting. We tried the chi chi mango smoothie, tie guan yin milk tea with green tea jelly and golden leaf tea (no sugar). Mango seemed to be one of their specialties and it's my favorite, so I tried it with a bit of skepticism since mango isn't in season. The drink was just sweet enough (the sweetness is fixed) and there were small bits of mango in it. The cheese foam was not overwhelming and complemented it well (I usually don't like cheese foam). The tie guan yin milk tea was standard, reminded me a bit of TP TEA. The golden leaf tea was well brewed and overall easy to drink (not overly strong). The store smelled a bit odd when we came in (maybe like cleaning supplies?) but the service was nice. I'd want to try more of their drinks but San Jose is a bit out of the way. Hope they open more locations a bit north in the East Bay. read more
