Service has always been quick and efficient. They also do phone orders. They have the best crème brûlée boba. The sugar is bruleed and adds a different texture to the drink once mixed. They recently added new variations of coffee to their menu, Saigon coffee. They have egg coffee which has a orange hue versus pale yellow. The coffee tasted bitter and the egg cream didn't do much. However today when I checked out at the register the cashier young lady was nice and she was as not aware of such thing so proceeded to ask her manager and the manager herself has a facial expression that was snobbish. She answered no. No such thing here. I told them I was here just a day ago and both times student discount was applied. I just took it for what it is and because she is only the staff and has no control. I just feel some type of way by the manger response and look of her face. To management/owner, please be up to date with what your store offers and make sure all employees are aware so that there is no miscommunication and cause confusion for customers. We were in the area for a family party and wanted some boba and popcorn chicken for the kids. Whenever I go to a new boba shop, I tend to get the very basic boba milk tea just to get a taste for comparison to other shops. I got a milk tea with boba 50% sugar and wasn't very impressed. The black tea tasted bitter which often times is due to the tea being brewed with water that is too hot. The boba was a nice consistency though. I do appreciate that you can taste the tea rather than it being purely sugar water, but it didn't taste smooth. For the drink, I'd rate it a 2/5. We ordered an order of mild popcorn chicken. This was a huge hit for the kids and they claimed that it was even more delicious than their usual favorite tea shop. My husband tasted it and confirmed that it was really good popcorn chicken. I'm currently on a vegetarian diet so I didn't try it for myself. We also go an order of regular fries and these were delicious. I was expecting some regular fries, but the when I opened up the box and found some battered fries, we were elated. For the snacks, we're gonna give it a 5/5. If we come back, it's mainly for the food. If we're in the area again, we will definitely get the popcorn chicken, try the cajun fried mushrooms, and get the cajun fries. There are many places to sit inside Bobaholics, it has a comfy aesthetic. --Drinks-- Large Banana Split w/ Honey Boba 75% sweetness: Huge 32oz drink, unfortunately, it tasted like a weird yogurt. We drank a fourth of this and threw the rest away. Large Coconut Mango w/ Honey Boba: We really like this drink, can taste the coconut and the mango bits. It's a no brainer to get the 32oz drink which is $7, vs a 16oz at $5 --Service-- The staff was patient as we chose our drinks, and the huge jugs came out quickly! --Future-- We originally came here as dessert after Sizzling Lunch (delicious btw). My verdict: pleasantly surprised! The milk tea competition is the Bay Area is seriously no joke. It is competitive out here. I ordered the creme brûlée milk tea and my boyfriend ordered their standard black milk tea. Their black milk tea was honestly not good. There was nothing special about it and it was the exact same price as my creme brûlée. The creme brûlée milk tea, however, was much much better. It was super creamy and decadent. It was a tad bit too sweet, so I would request to adjust that next time. I thought there would be some actual creme brûlée on top that they would torch, but there is not. Ordered Hubs the passion fruit milk tea w/rainbow jelly w/25% sweetness - he said it was alright. Came here on a rainy Sunday afternoon and boy was this place pack. I ended up ordering the taro milk tea with a free pudding topping with Yelp checkin. The taro milk tea came out fast. this is my second time visiting and unfortunately i was let down. if you're looking for authentic viet coffee, i don't think this is the place for you. the staff was really helpful in answering questions and shared that they add whole milk into all of their coffees. There is no adjustment option to not add milk if you are ordering manually. I ordered The Vietnamese Latte which tastes & looks like a watered down starbucks coffee with not very potent flavors, as viet coffee traditionally is. They did offer to make me another drink but I opted not to risk being let down again. I am always looking for a new boba spot to try out and this was bookmarked under my Boba list for a little while now. Came on a Saturday and there was barely a wait. I wanted to try the Hokkaido milk tea but their huge popup banners of their top drinks at the front convinced me to try the creme brûlée latte instead. I checked in on Yelp and got a free topping, so went with their honey boba - with less ice and 75% sweetness level. I should've gotten regular ice and 50% sweetness since I anticipated creme brûlée to be sweet but went with my regular measurements I usually do for all my boba drinks. Of course, it was pretty sweet but it was super tasty. I wished they torched the top a bit more because that's the best part! Came here on Xmas eve in a grinch outfit(wish I took a pic) and got some Vietnamese coffee on a beautiful afternoon. That Vietnamese coffee lives up to the strength. VISIT: August 11, 2020 at 3:45pm. I was in the neighborhood running a few errands and wanted to get my quick boba fix. This spot showed up on my Yelp search with decent recent reviews so I decided to give it a go. As soon as I opened the door, with not even both feet into the shop yet -- a young lady screams from behind all the curtains and shields "are you ordering or picking up?!?!!!!!!!!" Yes, she screamed so loudly that it startled me. Not cool. Mind you, I wasn't even fully through the door yet and was still trying to figure out the layout at the front of the house. I didn't even know where this young lady was screaming from until I looked beyond the cash register toward the very back. Shortly after my entering, a Dasher stopped in to pick up an order. The same young lady handed the order to the Dasher in the most unprofessional manner and then quickly turned to me to ask "are you ordering?" -- I was frustrated at that point and decided I did not want to conduct business with an establishment that clearly wasn't welcoming from the gate. Regardless of the fact if I was a new or returning customer (which in this case -- a spanking brand new customer), the service should be consistently epic and welcoming. There are so many other boba shops spread thoroughly all over the Bay Area -- if it's not a priority to maintain top level service then what will make this place stand out from the rest? Some final comments for the owner or managers: * yelling or screaming from the other side of the shop should never be appropriate. Train your team. * at the very minimum, a "hi, welcome in" or a "hi, we'll be right with you" or a "hi, what would you like to order?" etc. should be the welcoming remarks for customers as they walk in. Are you a Bobaholic? Well, I am and I am not afraid to admit it. Now with that out-of-the-way... when I first discovered this place I got three of these drinks in one week. That only proves that what I am about to tell you is 100% true and you need to be 100% ready for it. Although I do love Boba, I don't tend to normally venture out into unusual Boba drinks. For example I like to stick to the traditional milk teas with boba or green teas or even sometimes an Horchata (they sell it at my other favorite milk tea place). With that said, when I saw the menu and realized that they had a Crème Brûlée Latte drink I was really curious. I love crème brûlée but I wasn't sure if I would love to drink it. I figured it was going to be really sweet and maybe chunky . I gave it some thought... and decided to be adventurous . Needless to say, I made the right choice. The crème brûlée latte not only had Coffee in it but also has this thick foam inside. It was like drinking clouds. That's the best way I can describe it. And the rest of my drink was just to die for. I adjusted the sweetness to 75% and I think you can even go lower than that because it is a sweet drink but it's totally worth it. Definitely a dessert drink. The rest of my drink was composed of Boba and brown sugar crystals that traveled through my straw and surprised me, and a thin, solid sugar crystal disk at the top that was created by fire almost to replicate a crème brûlée dessert. Honestly, since that drink, I haven't ventured out to any other drink or have got basic because it ruined to be. In a good way.. We came to bobaholics for the grand opening a few years ago and didn't think we'd ever come back again. The first time around, I ordered the burnt almond milk tea. In general, I liked the taste of the drink, but there was this strange artificial aftertaste that made it difficult to continue drinking it. Fast forward a few years and we decided to give it another try: - Love potion (lychee, mango, strawberry) 5/5: honestly, the mango and strawberry flavors are very subtle and I can't even taste it in this drink -- it's predominately lychee. However, I really enjoyed it. It was fruity and didn't taste syrupy like a lot of flavored drinks can taste. This may be one of my favorite drinks! The boba also had a good texture. - Peach please lemonade (3/5): unfortunately, I couldn't taste any peach in this drink. It tastes very similar to a strawberry lemonade. It's definitely a good drink, but you can't taste any of the tea. If you're a lemonade lover, you'll probably enjoy the drink but I don't think I would order it again. Overall, their menu is extensive and they offer drinks in various cup sizes which I love! If you know you'll like the drink, or if you have someone to share with, the 32oz is perfect. I'm glad that we gave this shop a second chance. We'll definitely have this place in our boba shop rotation. I digress. Today was my first time actually seeing the shop and getting my Bucket in person. It's a small shop filled with diabetes, just don't think about it too much. They have a huge array of flavors, variations, add-ons and even a tasteful "waiting" area. It feels awkward to wait, but, it only takes about a full minute or two. Order a Bucket and the popcorn chicken and you're set...for the week. Hahahahaha!!!! It's just a large thing to swallow. (That's what she said). Staff if cordial. I really enjoyed my compassion fruit tea which is one of their top sellers. The Hokkaido tasted different than what I expected - it was very nutty, almost coconut-tasting. I'm so happy I stumbled upon this shop when I was craving a boba. I am glad to say they offer non-dairy alternatives so I was able to go with my first choice on the menu which was the Hojicha milk tea with oat milk as the substitute. It came out delicious and there was a substantial amount of boba. The inside of the store is spacious and has comfortable booth seats to sit at.
