My husband and I have been taking our cars to this Bobby & Steve's Auto World location for oil changes for several years. I have also gotten repairs for my car here several times. The most recent one was earlier today - had to get my front brake pads & rotors replaced and get a new car battery. Friendly and nice customer service - appreciated the discussions of background and different options. Would have been great if the updates are more prompt - I was waiting in the waiting year and had to follow up a couple of times to check in on the progress of the repairs. And if you're understaffed and that is the last resort and that's the best you got , the teach him some basic customer service 101 skills. They actually have seminars online on YouTube and in the state of Minnesota for free training. Went here for an inspection on a newly purchased car and what they recomended after was such an egregious upsell it was actually laughable. I'd assume they thought I was oblivious because I'm young, and would get scared and just pay for the service. They even recomended services which were documented as being performed less than a month ago in the CarFax. On top of that the prices were insane. read more

Triple A sent them and when he brought the car to my house I instructed him to put it in my parking spot in the back street parking is hard to find on the street. He tried to maneuver for about 2 minutes gave up and left it half in the alley. Luckily some neighbors came along and helped me push it out of the alley. I would give no stars if I could. read more

I had an oil change at this location and the technician removed the screws to my skid plate in order to replace the oil filter....they reattached the skid plate incorrectly causing the plate to fall off while I was driving. Luckily, I was driving in an ally-way the technician then blamed it on rusty bolts! If that was the case why in the world would they allow the 40lb plate to be reattached knowing the bolts and screws were compromised? I returned to the location and they will not fix the damage they caused. The Bolts sheered off from them reattaching the plate with "rusty bolts" If I was on the highway this could have cause a serious accident. This will be reported to the BBB! read more

When my car got towed, I asked if there was any other way to prove ownership since my parents that i am no longer in communication with still have the title. the man who i was speaking with was very rude and spoke down to me assuming because i'm a young woman and he said that "i could just go out and take a picture of your vin number and say it's my car". the woman i spoke with early today was very sweet because i clearly sounded distressed, but this man seemed extremely misogynistic and dealing with a car being towed is stressful enough. i'm not really the type to leave reviews, but if this means that i can help anybody else in the future not have to deal with this guys attitude then it's definitely worth it. read more

I needed my AC repaired in my car ASAP. I drive for Lyft and couldn't take riders if I didn't have working AC. Bobby and Steve's accepted me same day as a walk-in. I was in and out in less than an hour. I feel the price was a little steep considering what I needed done and how long it took them to do it. But it was worth every penny for the convenience of same day service and getting me back on the road driving for Lyft. They were friendly and efficient. I thought my car had been stolen because I was towed from a public parking space. After calling the police, I found out that my car had been towed by this company. Bobby & Steve's claimed I was parked in a private lot and that the owner of the apartment across from me called them to tow me away. They combatively denied the truth when I called them to get my money back and didn't respond to my email, even after the owner of the apartment called them to tell them that he didn't request to have my car towed and asked them to refund me. I thought I was going to have to take them to small claims court, but luckily, they mailed me a check after I threatened to do so. read more

I went there today with my car in desperate need of four tire installation and care. I brought the car in limping and in need of care and I drove out feeling as if I had a new vehicle. The staff was friendly and professional. They were willing to answer any questions I was concerned with. The workers inside the gas station were very friendly. I'll start with the positives. It was helpful that a tow truck could come to get my car, which had two flat tires. I also appreciated that we received an email saying what was good to go, what were non-urgent issues, and what needed to be fixed right away before any work was done. My issue was that I had two flat tires on brand new tires I got at a different location. Nothing else was wrong with my car. I just needed simple tire changes. When I went to pick my car up, they informed me that my window was broken and wouldn't roll-up. This has never happened to me, and I haven't had any issues whatsoever with my window functions. They didn't attempt to fix the issue and kept my car outside (which is understandable given they have no extra space). The least they could have done was put a plastic covering the open window since I drove my car last night to my home with the window down. I am extremely unhappy with this. The point of this review is to remind customers to review everything before they pay and make sure that errors, not caused by them but by the shop, are fixed before they drive their car off the shop property. read more

I was impressed with the service. I had a slow leak in a tire. They patched it in less than an hour. Also got a free car wash. I am skeptical of automated car washes, but theirs is really through. I'm an engineer, know a lot about cars. While I was waiting at the counter, the customer service person was patiently telling an older woman what had to be done to her car - and some things could wait. I moved to Minneapolis 7 years ago maybe. When I first moved here there's a lot of pressure for me to get settled. I do a lot of business with my vehicles and I need them to be reliable. With Uber and Lyft and doordash I put 50000 miles a year on my vehicles. I used to do all the work myself to maintain and service my vehicles. But after moving to Minneapolis I've never been in the position to be able to do the work myself.when I first moved here I had an engine problem and I had to get an engine swap and that worked out really well. You guys hey Bobby and Steve's here nicollet with the help of Dave swap my engine in two days. since then you service my wife's vehicles and my sons vehicles and over the seven years I've had spectacular service. Wheel bearings, brakes, water pumps, belts, hoses, several towing's, and most recently tires tires. I've been doing a lot of work with Andrew lately. And the level of service is exemplary. Every problem I present to Andrew he deals with expediently it doesn't destroy my wallet. I'm very happy with the new tires they're better than the old tires. I recommend to all my customers Bobby and Steve's and in particular the nicollet location because they said a bar, a standard of service I've never witnessed anywhere in any City and I've been around this country's serviced apartments. The worst of Seattle the middle ground is Texas and Oklahoma the best is Minneapolis Bobby and Steve's. and like I said the nicollet location is a standout even among all the separate Bobby and Steve's locations because of people like Andrew.I noticed every time I visit Bobby and Steve's on nicollet the level of camaraderie in the positive energy at this site. I think when people work well together the result is business runs fine and customers are generally happy. I know you can't please all customers but Andrew and his crew really do a good job getting things done. Called for a tow from here through my car insurance, I was told 55 min, I called and told the customer service rep that I was not with the vehicle and it would take me awhile to get there. Almost an hour later the driver called me and asked if I still needed a tow, I said yes, he asked where I was I said I could be to my vehicle in 15min, he replied that he had to call his dispatch and hung up the phone. I called him back to let him know I was almost to my vehicle, turns out he had left and did not notify me and neither did the company itself. I would have appreciate a called letting me know that he could not wait on me. Absolutely horrible service, I would not recommend using this location at all!! read more

Called Thursday noon and was now told it would be ready Friday afternoon late and another fifty dollars. Went out of town for two days. Called to check on car on way home. Horrible road side assistance / towing. Don't ever call them if you need any tire repair or towing. Their store service may be fine, but I was stuck on the side of the road at 4am with a flat tire waiting over an hour when the station was only 1 mile away. Every time I called back to find out the status, I could hear the tow driver yelling at the dispatcher that he was lost. I was clearly on the side of the interstate that you couldn't miss me. He showed up and offered no apology. Wanted to charge me extra to move my car, jack broke and had to call for another tow truck who showed up and started yelling. Dispatch kept apologizing to me but said she felt bad but was helpless to help provide me any help or discount. The driver was as bad as it gets and I would have rather called someone else and paid double since i had to wait over 90 minutes anyway. The service guys rock and are always willing to go out of their way to help out. I would like to see a few different items offered for quick grab bites but I also understand it isn't as sustainable as their downtown location. I just was in here yesterday for my quarterly oil change and had my carbon air filter cleaned! I was surprised.. When I got there they weren't that busy, or at least as busy as they normally are. I had never gotten an oil change here before, so I didn't know what to expect, but I've been to the other locations to do so, so I figured it should be fine. The oil change totaled, after tax, about $20.00, and the air filter was about the same as well. My total for both was $42.56. I was happy about that. I don't know anything about cars... at all, so I was a bit weary about getting my air filter cleaned. Mike helped me, and was very nice and understood my lack of knowledge about my car.. I mean, shit! I couldn't have even told you the exact make! The main thing that I seemed to love so much about this place was the amount of time it took for them to do this work. I was in in and out of there with new oil and a new air filter in about 30-40 minutes! That was the fastest it has ever taken me, and it made me happy. I hate sitting and waiting for cars! read more

The guys were good, laid out everything that they were going to do, were all of the costs were, ect. I didn't feel like I was getting run over by the mechanic. My college age kids were traveling to Minneapolis from Madison Wisconsin to attend a hockey game when their car broke down.These guys were able to quickly diagnose the issue and fix the car, and they provided a loaner so my kids were able to get to the Excel center to still make the college hockey game! This place is so good at ripping people off and over charging. I had a plugged up A/C hose, which the simple remedy is using an air hose to unclog it. Normally, a 2 second process, and because I did not have access to the right kind of hose, I thought they might be cool, and let me use theirs, or even do it themselves.The guy working the counter was rude, and wanted to charge me fifty dollars. I drove my car across the street over to Wuensch Automotive Services, and they came out,explained things, and proceeded to try and fix the clog. Bobby & Steve's was recommended to me by a friend who was jerked around by a dealership. My car was jumped and they replaced the battery, and they just fixed up my truck which needed a BUNCH of work. Why do I love them? Let me count the ways. 1) The tow guys saved me $25 by jumping my car instead of just towing it like I asked them to. (I didn't think it would start but it did!) 2) Jason was brutally honest with the estimate for my truck, but he framed it by asking, "Do you love your truck enough to pay for this? It's up to you." I thought that was a nice way to cushion the news. 3) They told me about a 0% financing deal I could get with GE Capital, ran the paperwork, and all I had to do was sign when I came to pick up the truck. 4) Free coffee or soda with service! 5) All the guys I talked to were SUPER nice. While I'm still not wanting to take another chance on their garage services, I'm good with fueling up here. I just had an impressive transaction while getting gas here on Saturday. I was trying to enter my Rewards card in the fuel pump transaction slot and it just wasn't happening. I finally went inside and the gal at the registers apologized that she wasn't able to get to be over the intercom because of being in the middle of helping someone. She explained that they just transferred to a new processing system and talked me through how to get the display to do what I had originally intended. I went back to the pump and was able to make it work quickly. After about 30 seconds, she even came out to make sure that I had it running smoothly. The new screen prompts aren't fully user-friendly (or more, intuitive), but glad that there was a friendly and apologetic employee to set things straight. read more

We were in need of a tow and was referred by roadside assistance. They took nearly 2 hours to show up. When the driver arrived he decided to try and jump the vehicle and was able to get it to start. He was very kind and we thanked him and he went on his way. As soon as we tried to drive the vehicle died again. With the driver still in sight we called bobby and Steve's right away to have him come back and the dispatcher told us he's already on the highway and we need to call our roadside assistance again. While this seems unfortunate and even comical. It was not funny to have to wait another 2 hours when he was 2 min away. Did I mention we had an infant with us and she was tired, hungry, and in need of a change. The driver was courteous, the dispatcher was a jerk. I WILL NEVER USE THIS COMPANY AGAIN. read more

I went in for a routine oil change, and when I returned to pick up my car they had generated a list of $1000 worth of recommended repairs, including rear brake replacement. They did fine work as far as I can tell, but I continued to hear squeaking when braking afterward. So I brought it back to have them look at it again, and they told me that I also needed to replace the front brakes as well as get a front-end alignment for $450. I decided to get a second opinion this time, and sure enough a more honest assessment at another shop revealed that my pads still had 50% life remaining and that the sound was due to the fact that they were glazed. The people at the shop were plainly mystified that I thought I needed an alignment. The only conclusion I can draw from this is that staff at this location are encouraged to write up recommended repairs that are unnecessary, thus I will not be returning. read more
