I have been using Chapman Auto Repair for mechanic services for several years now. I appreciate their ability to assess what is wrong with my car and make the necessary repairs for lower cost than the dealerships. Last month I took my car to have an oil change elsewhere. At that business they said I had an oil leak and I needed to go to a mechanic. Serves me right for not getting the oil changed at Chapman Auto Repair. Anyway, a week or so after the oil change my "change oil" light came on again. So I brought my car to Chapman Auto Repair and asked them to check on the leak. Had to revise this review, parts of it was deleted for some reason (operator error) . I really don't want to spend more time in this but it should at least be coherent. The problem I had on my 2006 mustang gt was an overheating problem. There was water coming out of the car from the engine compartment. Initially I had a verbal quote via the phone. After additional conversation the next day about adding some brake work to the mix the hose replacement cost went to $900. How did the hose replace suddenly went to 900? He says that that's the price I gave you over the phone yesterday, I challenged him on that and he goes back to look at the numbers and says oops I guess I should have added the new customer discount so the hose replacement went down to what he originally said around $730 and then he just so happened to add the diagnostic fee of $90. Well I knew he was a snake but I didn't want to screw with this problem any more and told him to just fix the hose. I to took several days longer to get the parts then they expected so it took around 4 days to get the car back. The next day I drove the car around and it started to overheat again!!!! What the heck.... the idiots never tested the car after the repair. I had to spend some time on my day off trying to find out what the problem was, what caused the overheating?????? I found the fans weren't working, the fan relays were bad so it wasn't cooling!!!! These guys screwed up the diagnosis and didn't find the cause. I will never go back to these fake snakes. read more

Hate leaving 2 star reviews. Drove down from Norcal with my college kid and wanted to get an oil change and hopefully find a good mechanic my kid can use for any upcoming repairs to an older family car. Stopped by on a Friday morning around 9:30. Driveway was full so parked next door and walked in. Was told by Kennyard a first time oil change takes about an hour or more given that they want to inspect the vehicle and photograph it for other issues they can monitor for. Was then told it would be about 3-4 hours but they would have it done before my 3pm flight. The lobby's popcorn & coffee/hot cocoa w/mini marshmallows was nice but took a Lyft back to my kid's dorm to spend the time there. At 12:30 I called to see how the work was going and was told that Fridays aren't good days for oil changes and they hadn't gotten to my car yet. Took a lyft back and picked up the car unserviced. A waste of time on both ends. My mistake for not having an appointment. Hope they have faster turn around times for those folks. read more

Great and quick service! My engine shield fell off over the weekend and Chapman Auto was the first shop to respond to my inquiry, even over Labor Day weekend. Just wanted to give a shout to the guys at Chapman Auto Repair. I was a walk in with no appointment for a smog check. I had my pup Watson with me and was hoping to squeeze this in while out and about. The guys working the front were extremely friendly and helpful and even took the time to make my pup feel welcome. They were able to get me in and I was surprised at the good rate for the service. I haven't had to smog my car in years but eventually they get old enough and you have to start doing these things.
