I generally don't give out "meh" ratings, my reviews are of places that are really good or really bad, but can't seem to help this one. Stopped in around 11:30am on a Saturday. Ordered a toasted blueberry bagel with cream cheese and a drink for there as well as a cinnamon roll to go. There was no one in line so ordering was quick. I was standing and waiting for my order till I noticed that orders were coming out slowly for a table that was seated. I found a seat myself, wiped the sesame seeds off the table top, and read a newspaper sitting there while I waited. There was no music or ambiance of any sort except for a couple of toddler types who would squeal loudly at random times. The toasted bagel took far longer than I expected, but no big deal, I wasn't in a rush. I then waited for my drink. It seems there were 2 people working food and drink and one on the register and their process was to make all the food orders first then the drinks. Ok. Finally after getting my drink my bagel wasn't exactly hot. Nor was it very toasted. There was a good amount of cream cheese. The cinnamon roll is beautiful but very sweet. Tastes good but I was smearing the cream cheese off the bagel on the roll to cut down the sweetness. And then a family came in with young boys who were allowed to talk loudly and run around the cafe. When I was cleaning up to leave the trash was overflowing. All in all there's not much to say. The food and overall experience wasn't impressive enough to return. They did showcase a nicely presented bagel and cream cheese display to take to work or for a little party for $19.99, I may be back for that if there is ever a need. read more

My husband LOVES bagels and we are from the northeast so we are bagel snobs. This is probably the best tasting bagels we have found in the Vienna/Oakton/Tyson's areas. There is a large menu, they are well staffed and COVID protocols seem observed. It is a local small business. They offer several cream cheese options and a nice variety of bagels including my favorite...egg everything! They offer online ordering on all major platforms, have lots of seating, rest rooms and wifi. One odd note is that their sign says Oakton Chesapeake Cafe Bagel Bakery. Support this small business! Despite some of the angry sounding reviews, I decided to host a friend group coffee get together here. We liked it. I'm so shocked by the number of crazy reviews on here about "how expensive" it is. It's totally on par (or cheaper) than many other local bagel and breakfast places. $5.28 for a specialty (very tasty) bagel with specialty cream cheese is pretty normal. A number of people freaked out because they "expected $4.28" and was charged $5.28 because they picked a specialty bagel. Really? You live in Northern Virginia and you're soooo poor that an extra dollar for a gourmet bagel broke your bank and now you're going hungry? Seriously weird how many whiny reviews this place has. I'm only mentioning it because it almost made me skip coming. Glad I didn't! I didn't have any complaints about service or quality. The coffee quality was definitely better than Starbucks. And, they have two things I totally love: kombucha on tap (!!!!) and rainbow colored bagels. We've already been back a second time and certainly won't hesitate to come regularly. Found them through Vienna Foodies and always like to support local businesses. I liked the ease of ordering online-- didn't have to create yet another account-- ordered the night before. I was the only one in line when I went to pick up but the employee ignored me for awhile until I stared him down and got him to at least mumble "just a minute." After awhile another employee emerged and grunted something. I just spoke up and said I was collecting my order. There was only one order behind the counter but it took awhile for him to give it to me. As the only person in line I waited seven minutes for my pick up. I'm ok with Einstein's or wherever. Rude people make me grumpy and I don't need that. Maybe with better customer service they can make enough money to get decent store signage out front. To me this is a bagel place. And then they offer some sandwiches too. There are pros and cons here. The cons are the confusing signage really should be fixed. Unless you are ordering a plain bagel then anyone walking in should be clearly shown the gourmet bagel prices. Other cons include the no frills space. The bathrooms aren't dinky outdated too. The pros outweigh it all. The bagels are great. Fresh. The cream cheeses are fresh and homemade. The best deal of all is the day-old bagels. You can get a bag of approx. 6 bagels for $1.99. I visited this establishment and I will say this...the staff was friendly. The environment was dark and had an old musky smell. The food was disappointing... the cinnamon crunch bagel was tasteless and the sugar fell off in large clumps; go to Panera for a cinnamon crunch bagel....now Panera has it right. I also tried the honey walnut cream cheese...no flavor in my opinion. Very unfortunate. I wanted to try something new but it didn't work out. I will stick with the cinnamon crunch bagel at Panera and for all other bagels there's a bagel shop in Tysons. It has the large bagel display so you can't miss it...their cream cheese no matter which flavor is absolutely delicious! Oh, I also purchased a cinnamon roll from Bobby's Bagel... didn't like it. It was wet because of some syrup drizzled over the roll plus the icing. A little too much and didn't have a good taste. Unfortunately, I will not return to this establishment and gave it a maybe in terms of recommendation...maybe the breakfast sandwiches are good...who knows. Well, true story - I ordered coffee. They have self-serve hazelnut and regular. The hazelnut container was empty. I saw a woman sweeping and alerted her that the hazelnut coffee had run out. She kept sweeping, wouldn't look at me. I asked if someone could replace it - head down, no eye contact, she shook her head no. I found that startlingly rude; pretty appalling. Other staff have been pleasant and efficient. Now - the bagels and breakfast offerings are delicious. The blueberry pastry was bland and unsatisfactory. The bagels are quality and the food is good overall but the service sucks. Almost every time I go my order is messed up. We ask for no cheese and there's cheese. We ask for a a turkey bacon sandwich, we get turkey slices AND bacon on the sandwich. We ask for a whole wheat bagel, we get a whole wheat sesame bagel. We have always loved the bagels from this place and have had great service. During Covid they have been especially amazing, and we've got a delivery from them a couple of mornings! Yesterday for Easter we got a ton of bagels and also one of their cookie decorating kits, and they just do such a great job with everything. Not great, not bad. We go here sometimes for a Saturday morning bagel and coffee run. But I prefer the Main St. Bagel Deli in Fairfax slightly more. It seems like Oakton Chesapeake's bagels are just half-done versions of other place's bagels a lot of times. Because it's so close to where I live and not horrible, I'll still go here if I'm strapped for time, but quite honestly I prefer Panera Bread's bagels to any place around. On my most recent visit to OCC, I had the cinnamon crunch bagel, which was basically a plain bagel with a strange cinnamon gooey center that just fell out of the hole whenever I tried to take a bite. There were also raisins all up in the bagel -- raisins are for babies. I'd prefer something more like Panera's cinnamon crunch bagel that evenly distributes the flavor across the entire surface without dried-up fruit involved. Also, they had several coffee dispensers in the shop, but a few of them were empty and didn't get refilled the whole time I was there. I previously got a breakfast sandwich here too, and it was a microwaved "meh" sort of experience. Finally, OCC is a bit expensive compared to other bagel shops in the area, but I think the bagels are actually smaller. On the plus side, service is fast and friendly, and the shop seemed clean. read more

Perhaps a fair question if you were eating at the store, but not if you drove several miles and were at home when you discovered the mistake. But did I get an apology. Nope. Only an arrogant look. This place is a hidden gem in Oakton/Vienna area. Their Veggie Delite sandwich on Focaccia bread is to DIE for. They open Mon - Fri 6am to 5pm. Catering service is available. The place is clean and service is wonderful. Great for breakfast and lunch. I'm not sure about their weekend hours. My family absolutely adores this bagel shop. I consider it a hidden gem of Oakton. The staff is extremely nice, and over the years we have developed a relationship with the owner who has an impeccable memory (They basically know our orders by heart). It is an intimate bagel shop that is reliable, tasty, and much better than the chain bagel shops in the DC area. Unfortunately, I've got no love for this place. I'll second a few other reviewers' comments that the bagels are sometimes stale. I would also say that they are generally over-priced. A bagel with cream cheese and a drink is going to be over $5. Service is never rude, but I do take exception to their "$5 minimum credit card charge" policy. Everyone uses plastic now. I understand as a business owner that card companies are always trying to bump up their rates on the business side of things, but minimum charges are a thing of the past. Today I entered the store at 1030 AM but they were totally out of plain bagels and cinnamon & raisin bagels. If you want bagels you had better show up very early because the management appears to be incompetent and unable to maintain a reasonable level of fresh bagels for mid-morning customers.
