We also made a reservation yet had to wait awhile since our table wasn't ready. During this time, the manager or maitre'd (not sure of the title) offered us glasses of wine while we waited, insinuating they'd be on the house due to the delay - then proceeded to charge us for them. We ordered five things and left hungry because the portions are laughable, even by New York standards. The crispy artichokes were delicious, but it was four small pieces for nearly $20. The gnocchi was the only thing that was both delicious and reasonably sized. The ahi tuna was a joke - completely flavorless and expensive for five itty bitty slices of tuna. The fromage du jour was maybe a half ounce of cheese - with two, count them TWO - microscopic pieces of bread. We asked for more bread, and two more tiny pieces came out. While I was waiting for the bathroom, waiters were walking out with the same item that had non-famine portions of bread, so I'm not sure what we did to be on the bread blacklist. To finish off the teeny meal, I had the lemon tart, which was exquisite and deliciously sour and overpriced. I spent a nearly $100 for just myself, only to stop by a food truck on our way back. I recommend going in for a drink and nothing more. The portions and prices are nothing but a joke. read more

We had a reservation in the den for happy hour, and we got there and there were no tables in the den free so they seated us upstairs. After ordering a second drink, the Maitre D' came over to our table and said we had to close our tab and leave because the table was reserved for another party. Never got our second drinks, in and out in 45 mins, after we had a reservation. We were ordering food, I've worked in restaurants and know the difficulty of it. I would never want to take up a table without spending money but I didn't even get a chance to do that. There were many other options they could have given us: a table in the den, a seat at the bar, even an apology and come in for a drink when we're less busy. But nothing. Just a "we need the table back" after we had reserved a table in the appropriate section, after 45 minutes! Truly one of the rudest experiences I've ever had in a restaurant. And again- I've worked in the service industry and have the utmost respect for people that do. But there were a million better ways this could have been handled that were disregarded. Bobo is a cute and quaint restaurant in the West Village that is worth trying once. We came on Halloween and had the sweetest waitress who was more than happy to take photos of us in our costumes. We started with drinks-honestly, I was not a fan of either of the drinks I tried (Blackcurrant Spritz was too watery and the Vesper Lynd tasted like straight rubbing alcohol!) so that was slightly disappointing and why I had to dock one star. For my meal, I had the Parisian Gnocchi, Brussels Sprouts, and Roasted Carrots. Please note that this restaurant does not have a vegetarian entree option, which is quite sad...but luckily you can make a meal out of their delicious apps and sides. I LOVED the Gnocchi-the mushrooms in the dish had so much flavor and it really was the perfect portion to have in addition to the side veggies. The brussels were decent, but those carrots were a winner! Prices are reasonable as well. Would this be a place I come back to? I went here for girls day brunch with my friend. We were excited to go for the boozy brunch special, which is $25 with the purchase of an entree and includes champagne, mimosas, Paloma's, and Bloody Mary's. We requested to sit in the garden room, but when we arrived we were informed the room was booked for a private event. We were seated in the upstairs area, which was adorable. The entire room felt like you were in a French townhouse . Once we were seated we were given water immediately. It did take about 15 minutes for a server to come over to greet us and take our drink orders. We didn't mind the wait because the server extremely polite and apologetic. I started with a Bloody Mary, it was the perfect amount of spice. We ordered the truffle croquettes for the table, and they were amazing. It was the perfect amount of truffle and not overwhelming at all. Our brunch entrees came out pretty quickly within 20 minutes of us ordering. We both got the Eggs Benedict with ham and a side of potatoes. There is also the option for a salad. We ended brunch with the lemon tarte for dessert. The tarte was scrumptious, the only complaint is that is difficult to eat. Initially were were just given a large spoon, so we requested two forks. Even with the forks, it was difficult to break into the tarte. Overall, the experience was extremely pleasant. The boozy brunch is an amazing deal and the alcohol didn't taste cheap. I would highly recommend this place for a girls brunch! After brunch we headed downstairs for a few espresso martinis, which were excellent. Obsessed! My friend was so excited to try this spot and it really lived up to the hype. We entered into the basement where there's the coziest little bar. The strawberry rhubarb drink was a fan favorite - SO GOOD! We were eventually seated upstairs and it was so cozy and quaint- a perfect date spot. We got a few different entrees to split and they were all perfect. Not huge portion sizes, but we were all satisfied when we left. Good choice for a dinner. Great decor! Came on a weekend night with reservations set already. Had to wait about 15-20 minutes still which was no issue as we sat at the bar downstairs while we waited. Service was friendly. Upstairs, they have high ceilings as you can find in the pictures on Yelp which was beautiful. 1. Crab cakes - Delicious with arugula salad. Simple! 2. Duck - Juicy and tender. No flavor was overbearing here. Could maybe add more orange to it. 3. Creme brulee and bread pudding - Both were delicious. Nothing that blew me away but very good. While visiting NYC for the weekend, my friend decided to take me to bottomless brunch here. This place was decorated adorably and the ambience was very classy yet still cozy. The waiter was also very attentive, checking in on us regularly, and not trying to rush us out the door since we had to wait a little bit of time for the rest of our party to show up. All of us got the bottomless brunch, which was a pretty good deal. $22 for your choice of bottomless mimosas, aperol spritz, and a couple of other cocktails that you were able to mix and match. Not a bad deal. For the entrees, I ordered the The Ouefs Meurette en Cocotte (pictured in the skillet) and it was incredibly delicious. The entree itself was pretty filling, and the only critique I would have is that it was a little on the bland side. My friend ordered the Boba Burger which came with a side of fries and honestly it was one of the best burgers i've had. If I had to critique one thing, that would be the prices. There was not much for what you did get, and the entrees were all similarly priced although ranged in sizes greatly. Although there was a time limit for the bottomless brunch, we did not feel rushed at all. Omg this place is a gem in the west village The outside is pretty unassuming, it's inside what looks like your average brownstone - thankfully there's a huge sign pointing out the restaurant. The entrance is through what would be the basement level apartment and there are at least 3(!) floors of dining. I met a friend here for dinner and was, surprisingly, early. I decided to grab a drink at the bar on the first level. I got the pomme fumee, a gorgeous mix of mezcal, citrus flavors, and baked apple syrup - it felt like I was transported to a crisp fall day. Highly recommend for any mezcal fans. My friend arrived shortly after and we were seated in what I think was the main dining area on the third floor. I let him have a sip of my drink and he promptly ordered himself one I just want to pause and say, now that we're getting to the food part, that I wanted to try everything on the menu, but there were only two of us and my eyes were definitely bigger than my stomach. I'm going to need to come back with a bigger group. We started out splitting the crispy artichokes and a kale salad for our appetizers. Both were delicious. The artichokes were cooked to perfection, that great mix of crunchy and savory. For our mains, I went with the Parisian Gnocchi and he got the Filet au Poivre. I took some bites of the filet and I'll be ordering that next time I visit. For dessert we split the lemon tart. Truly a hidden gem in West Village - one of the best cooking I've had in NYC. Food: 5 Drinks: 4 Service: 4 Ambiance: 4 Price: $$ We ordered the Crispy Artichokes to start, as well as Crispy Skin Salmon, and Hanger Steak. The artichokes were delicious and a great appetizer, although the bearnaise sauce was a bit thick by the time we ate it. For our entrees, the salmon was delicious, cooked perfectly, and paired very well with the lentils on the tray. The hanger steak was the standout of the night; the pommes pavee and garlic confit were delicious, and the steak was flavorful (my girlfriend ordered medium and it came closer to medium rare / rare, although I preferred it that way). We had a peach cobbler cocktail to enjoy, which was incredibly sweet. Haven't tried the non-dessert cocktails but think they would be just as good. The restaurant wasn't too busy, but service for entrees was a bit slow. That being said, since our anniversary was coming up, the restaurant also provided two glasses of rose champagne to make the experience even better. What made the meal better was the value - $25 / entree is hard to find in NYC, especially for quality cooking. Certainly coming back. read more

We ordered a bottle of wine for the table, but they do have a larger list of cocktails, wines by the glass, and beers for any palate. For food, we shared the artichoke, blood orange & fennel salad, and oysters. I went with the Moules Frites as my main. The food was fantastic. We loved all the appetizers and my mussels were great. Cooked perfectly; not chewy and easy to get out of the shell. The others in my group ordered the Salmon and Filet Mignon. Both were happy with their orders. Thought just a note the Salmon has red pepper flakes on it (which isn't listed on the menu), so if you can't do spicy I would avoid or ask them to hold it. The ambiance is really quaint. It's in an old townhouse, so the wood all around and the dim lighting gives you a cozy feel. We were seated on the second floor at a larger table near the front windows, which was a nice view. Service was great too. Our waitress was attentive and checked in on us. We always had water. We also did not feel rushed out at any point, so we could really enjoy a nice evening. Overall, I highly recommend Bobo for your next dinner. Bobo is actually insane. Amazing vibes, attentive service, great food -- this is the ultimate (reasonably priced) date spot. The food: I ordered a hanger steak which absolutely blew my mind. As a caveat, I ordered a medium and the steak was definitely more on the medium rare side, but I'll chalk it up as a happy accident. The meat itself was delicious. There was a char on the outside, while the inside was juicy. It was something out of my wildest dreams. The hanger steak also came with pommes pavee (think a little brick of layered potatoes) and garlic confit. GUYS. I would eat this every day if I could. Consider me officially shook not just by the quality of the steak but by the sides that came with it. The service: Our server was amazing! Our water glasses were never empty, and he knew his way around the menu. The food did come out a little slow, but I didn't mind. It didn't take away from the ambience, and I still had a great time. We came for happy hour turned into dinner but even the dinner prices were reasonable and the ambience CANNOT be beat There seemed to have been multiple levels but we were in the "den" which was very cozy and intimate - the best date ~vibes~. Happy hour is only offered in the den Tues-Fri 5-7pm -- $1 oysters, $9 glasses of wine, two $10 cocktails, $5 Brooklyn IPA. The oysters were delish and not very seafoody tasting (I'm easing into it :)). The margarita was perfectly spiced, not too sweet, and the When in Rhône cocktail had a fresh cantaloupe flavor but it was light and not too sweet. To eat we had the salmon - perfectly seared and seasoned, gnocchi - so so good with a nice basil cream flavor and a little crispy on the outside which was different, and the pomme frites - perfectly fried French fries :) We finished with cappuccinos and the chocolate mousse which were both to die for. One of my new favorite spots for delivery - they do a great job with the orders and the food is absolutely PHENOMENAL. I didn't realize at first that it was associated with Rosemarys and Claudette but it makes sense because they're all amazing. Entrees are around $25. My favorites are the chicken with pommes purée, baby zucchini, crispy squash blossoms and the steak with roasted fingerling potatoes, crispy shallots, wild mushroom vinaigrette, but everything is great. They also cook the steak perfectly, too, so you never order anything medium rare and get it well done. The portion sizes are, admittedly, a little small. I think the prices are decent given the quality, but I still end up hungry after most dishes. That being said, it's some of the best food I've had. My new favorite restaurant in the West Village and probably my favorite French restaurant in NYC! I absolutely adored that this restaurant is in what looks like a home. It really transports you to a cute home in France. The little touches are great, such as the French flag on the outside. When you enter on the lower floor, you'll see the bar and the host stand is on your left right in front of the stairs. Above, you'll find a lovely room with several tables and warm, cozy lighting. We ordered the gnocchi to start and I ordered the seared hanger steak as my main dish. The sauce that came with the gnocchi was sooooo delicious--think butter and honey, like caramelized sweet potatoes. The gnocchi itself was quite soft, as thought it may have been overcooked? And the steak was great as well, but I'm still obsessed with the gnocchi sauce. For dessert, I would recommend the bread pudding and chocolate mousse! Would suggest this for a date or a nice catch up with friends although I can see it becoming quite loud since the tables are quite close to one another. read more

We ordered the pastry basket to share which had fluffy croissants - normal, chocolate, and apple! The jam was also very delicious. As for our main, we got the oeufs meurette en cocette which had this delicious red wine sauce. Our waiters were also super attentive and offered to refill our coffees multiple times. Came here for their winter restaurant week menu and it was fabulous. Mercedes Marxist Any cocktail that gives a nod to persimmon usually ticks all the boxes for me. The bourbon aged apple brandy was a bit strong for my taste but I did end up warming up to the kick it gave. The drink warmed me up nicely and had me feeling rosy. Tomato Bisque Tastes like Grandma's tomato soup for the bad tummy ache days...but with a little bit of spice. It was warm, yummy and the sourdough croutons added that great level of crunch within the smooth soup texture. Very good. Roasted Chicken Breast First off, the steam was coming off the chicken with every cut of my knife- that's how freshly cooked it was. Cooked perfectly, tender and juicy with flavor. When we arrived, I was nervous we were going to be shelling out big bucks for this place. I was pleasantly surprised at the prices. When you go in for French food, it's almost guaranteed to be good. And this place delivers. We got an artichoke app and it was delightful. Also the proprietor or at least head of staff was walking around checking on people, and he was lovely. Sometimes those interactions can be weird, but this guy just wanted everyone to be having a good time. Speaking of the staff: the whole crew cultivates a nice fun laid back vibe.
