My car's front passenger tire was punctured with a big screw while in the public parking at 2pm. I was told by the towing driver that it needs to be replaced. Jason had looked at it initially and hesitantly agreed that the best course was to change the tire and has to be ordered and delivered the next day! I've asked him if he can try to fixed it. He agreed but said that it will take time. I gave my contact information to Jonathan and asked for an estimate. He gave me an affordable quote. Wow! Breaking my assumption of high cost SF living. Jason and Jonathan understand a fellow San Franciscan neighbour in need. Jason solved the issue by sealing leak inside and out and even recommend to change the tires as the treads are wearing thin. He said that there's no more leak and it's safe to drive. Jonathan, on the hand, provide me updates via texts on how the work was progressing while Jason keep on fixing the problem. Jonathan even told me to be with family who were visiting SF and to enjoy some time with them (which we did in Ghirardelli Square and Japantown). I do not know any other repair shops that will do this kind of service even staying up late until 8pm. Such dedication and professionalism! Jason and Jonathan are really true San Franciscan neighbours to keep around for good! A rare treat to find in this urban jungle. Kudos to you both, Jason and Jonathan! And yes! Excellent service! My roadtripping friends and I were stranded when our car broke down while we were driving up a hill near Lombard. Since it was 5pm, we were afraid that the shops would all be closing- and to make it worse, we were planning to leave the next morning. We needed the car to be working by then! So there I was trying to get lunch with a friend and socially distance eat in our cars when I turned my key and nothing happened. No clicking, no engine rumbling to life... nada. After trying to jump start my car with my friend's car, a passing stranger's car, and then a AAA contractor that was not a tow vehicle (that was a whole fiasco itself), it was definitely going to need a tow. Jumped on Yelp and found Bob's as one of the few auto repair shops still open on a Saturday afternoon on a holiday weekend. Called them up and a nice lady answered asking (her husband?) the mechanic if I could tow my car there. Success! They could fit me in and I continued my wait for a tow truck. 2 hrs after my failed attempt to start my car, I decided to try again for the hell of it. By some miracle it actually started up!! I was able to drive to Bob's (and cancel that tow truck request) in no time. The dad and son duo were amazing to work with, diagnosing the problem pretty much immediately once my car died again in their parking lot. It was the starter that had failed and letting them know I live in the East Bay, the dad said he could get it fixed in a few hours so I could get home! Incredibly, he was able to get it fixed along with replacing my front brakes, which he saw were down to 20%, all in 2 hrs! Luckily, Chinatown is so closeby so I could roam around and run some errands while waiting. Throughout the wait, there was great communication via text with his son about what was being worked on and when I could pick it up, along with confirming the 10% off labor discount for Yelp check in. While not thrilled this happened to begin with, super grateful I was able to get my car back in a super timely manner and in working order. Very reasonable prices and great customer service. Would gladly go back for future maintenance or repairs (hopefully not for the latter any time soon)! read more

I had a problem with the mechanic named "Jason," and this venue. I brought my SAAB 9/3 Aero convertible into this North Beach shop because the Air Conditioning (A/C) had a leak. I ordered a condenser. From Germany. Brand = Behr. Lifetime warranty. (Why do I include that detail? Means no b.s. junk-parts from eBay). The garage handed me the car back with the crash sensors disabled. When I challenged the staff, and showed them the "Airbag Malfunction" alert on the dashboard information display, Jason claimed he never touched the sensors. I had to have the whole job re-done by another mechanic in SoMa (Auto Analysts at 6th and Harrison) because the condenser itself was not even installed correctly by Bob's Auto -- that is, the initial job. (Freon leaked out within a week.) At the request of the California Bureau of Automotive Repair, I am supposed to say that I received a full refund: $450. My complaint was resolved in my favour but only because the licencing body for the state of California intervened on my behalf. The case is resolved thanks to the California Bureau of Automotive Repair. Why did I post this? To save you all time, money and stress. If you hand your vehicle over to this shop anyway: Ask for a written and signed work order, describing *exactly* the job and price! read more

5 PM on a Tuesday I called and asked if they sold vehicle low lights. They said yes. I am a North Beach resident and stopped by with the car. I was trying to replace my own headlights and thought I had bought the wrong model. Turns out - I was trying to replace my high light bulb with a low light bulb. Bob explained the difference to me, let me set up my car his garage, gave me a lamp and let me get to work. I was almost complete when I dropped a light cap in the car. I couldn't find it nor see it in the undercarriage. Bob came to help again, looked around, got on his knees and unscrewed something on the bottom of the car to fish it out for me.
