    Plain suncup
    Peter H.

A group of us decided to have ice cream post-workout. To be fair, it's been pretty hot, and this place was nearby. People were getting the sundae, hot fudge, and dipped cones, with the only downside being that a few slush/slush float flavors were unavailable that evening. I ordered the small plain suncup which is a generous serving of their vanilla soft serve. Don't let the word "plain" fool you; it's a worthy, full-fat, creamy, and flavorful delight, unadulterated by wafer cones, chocolate, or colorful toppings and syrup. Not sure why it's called suncup though.

Best little soft serve ice cream shop I've had in a while. I am obsessed with chocolate dipped vanilla soft serve and this place, is dangerously good! Something so simple but so satisfying! A must go!! Con: cash only, but I guess that a pro too so I don't go too often and gain a bunch of weight

I don't crave ice cream often but when I do, I expect nothing but the best. My girlfriend recommended we go to this spot because it's been a staple in the area over the years. I ordered their banana split and it was THEBOMB.COM. I 100% recommend this spot but keep in mind that this place is CASH ONLY.

Place is a hidden gem. Got the old school vibe and carnival feel. But the ice cream. Man. It's good!! You definitely taste the freshness in their soft serve. They also got a lot of options. I had the dipped cone and my kid got the Oreo parfait. They hooked it up. Definitely worth rolling up to. They are open late, 10pm. Cash only.

Finally had the opportunity to try Bob's, and it was so great! They have a pretty big menu and it was tough to decide what to get, but we ended up choose the classic banana split. We chose the smaller option, but it was more than enough for two people to share! The flavors and boat made it nostalgic to the banana splits we would get as kids from the ice cream truck. The soft serve is delicious and they are generous with the toppings! They have a small parking lot behind the establishment, and there is also some street parking in front/nearby. I highly recommend giving Bob's a try if you're ever in the area!

4.4/5 Food- you can't go wrong with this ice cream stop. We tried the banana split, chocolate dipped cone, and the icecream slush. The most outstanding one was the chocolate dipped cone! Delicious warm chocolate shell and vanilla soft serve inside. Service- our cashier was swift and attentive. Portions are huge btw if you're getting a banana split it might be double than you think. Ambiance- most people park on the curb and get this to go. You may also stand at the storefront and enjoy your treat

Came here recently and got the banana split and strawberry sundae. The syrups were watered down. It did ruin the flavor. This is not how I remember them to be.

It was good but I wish they had foam cups and not coffee cups cuz then the coffee cups get all soft and soggy

The ice cream itself was fine, but I was really put off by the use of "suicide" as a menu item name. Mental health and suicide aren't things I personally think should be used casually or for shock humor in a food setting. Just something for the business to consider.

Cash only. Plenty of parking in rear. So glad I stumbled upon this spot on yelp, will be coming back often. Strawberry Slush Float - not too sweet, soft serve was creamy and paired well the slush. So good! Large Banana Split - bananas, custard, chocolate syrup, strawberry puree, whipped cream and peanuts for crunch. Cone - so simple but good. Creamy and rich but light.

4++ small little mom and pop type spot that serves up some soft serve as well as other dessert treats. The folks here are very kind. Also note that it's cash only. I was in the area and I wanted some dessert. This place popped up on my radar and I thought it would be perfect. I am a huge fan of dipped cones. Ordered the small and it was a perfect size. Definitely hit that spot.

Why is it cash only? Wouldn't they benefit from card transactions?

It's ice cream. If they took credit cards they would have to pay to a percentage to credit card company and also it would require more accountablilty in their part. Some owners aren't willing to do that.

Then, an eternity ago, it closed and we were sad. Then Long Beach Creamery opened and we weren't that sad for that long, but still, I absolutely still thought about them every once in a while, sad that they'd left. Then, a much closer eternity ago (about a year ago - I've been super burned-out and not finishing my reviews), I was on my way from an event back to the blue line and walked by and noticed that they had, in fact, just moved. So obviously we had to get some. Verdict - yes, it absolutely was as good as I remembered. I wouldn't go back to DTLA just for ice cream, Long Beach Creamery being walking distance and wonderful, but I would absolutely stop here if I were back in DTLA and wanted ice cream. It's a bit pricey, but all craft ice cream is going to be, and it is definitely craft. And you can save a lot by getting a 3-scoop, which is very much enough to share for two people, if not slightly too much.

The line was longer than I've ever seen it wrapping around outside. I saw so many young people in cosplay, possibly characters for an anime I'm not familiar with. Look at the photos and see if you recognize it. A character might be called Silverwolf? Anyway, I was so happy to see Somisomi so busy. My friend and I stayed in line for 20 minutes before we were able to place our order, we had only 10 minutes to spare before our tickets at the Aratani Theatre. We wanted to have the milk and 8-bit boysenberry swirl soft serve in a cup. Unfortunately, we realized that we had to decide between possibly not being led into our reserved seat at the theater or missing out on this delicious dessert. It was just a matter of not realizing how long it would take. I don't blame Somisomi because they had a huge number of ahbong to make fresh, and of course, there was no way to cut in line We ended up telling the lovely staff that we had to leave, and to please give our orders under "Coco" to someone for free so it wouldn't be wasted. I'm sure it would've been tart and delicious!! The staff were working hard and very patient. They sometimes had to call names three times to get a response for adding toppings. If you go there and it's crowded, please be patient and also please be ready to go up to claim your order right away for the sake of the waiting hungry crowd ;)!
