This burger place has lots of potential but I am only giving 2 star today because i tried this place twice and am my experience has gone from OK to Meh. First try was during afternoon when there was no crowd. I asked the cashier what the house specialty was, to her it was the bacon cheeseburger with grilled onion. Sounded good, my reply "I'll take it!" What I got was good except the onions weren't grilled. Because my order was to go I couldn't ask for a change and I also took responsibility for not being more specific. The single burger was a little overpowered by the large bun and so I decided to give it a second try going for the double-decker bacon cheese with grilled onion. This time was just past 7 in the evening so nearly an hour before closing I phoned it in this time, when I made the order I was told 15 minute wait time. This seemed like a longer time than necessary so I thought they might be busy and gave the full 15 before my pick up. When I arrived I was the only one in the place and the burger was sitting under a lamp. That is fine but I would have liked to have been given a pick up time closer to, or before it was ready. One reason this is important in this case is because the burger was wrapped in tin foil which might be good for holding heat but also just as good at moisture retention. The bun was soggy and the cheese was stuck to the foil, a total mess! (I had to go knife and fork for this one). Finally, the to go soda cups are small and flimsy, they offer self serve soda when you are in house but for orders to go I think they would better serve customers by offering a larger sturdy cup and lid combo that may cost them more but will avoid potential spills and the need to hang out long enough to fill it twice to make it satisfying. I would gladly pay more for a large/sturdy to go cup option. I said this place had potential and have listed all my criticism. The double-decker would have been awesome wrapped in paper and if I had got to them 5 minutes earlier. I like the decor, music, Shake options and the claim of never frozen beef patties. The addition of BGB to Modesto is still apparently going through debugging and maybe some staff refinement but I see reviews here from August. If BGB doesn't get it figured out by....like, yesterday! they are sacrificing tons of customer repeat business that is being lost by poor first and second impressions. This area is underwhelmed with "great burger" restaurants and BGB could secure a profitable place here if they could nail this. I would be happy to wait longer prep times and endure some other shortcomings as long as it doesn't affect the quality and consistency of the product. I hope they can get it right soon. My patronage won't endure another disappointment. read more

As with other reviews, the first time I was here was going to be the last since their burgers were nothing at all to write home about even though their price was indicative of how proud they were of them. Luckily, my wife and her friend went their and absolutely loved it. She got the Blue Cheese burger and was obsessed for some time. Admittedly, it's quite delicious, and the employees there are great... always very nice and happy to accommodate. I get the feeling they are truly grateful for the business they get, which is truly a break from the norm these days of COVID where it seems at most places we are doing them a disservice by ordering from them (read: El Rosal on Coffee). There is nothing giant about Bob's Giant Burger, except for the bill. A burger combo is in the vicinity of $11.00. I think it might have been a 1/4 burger, but I don't remember. The burgers are good, but nothing special. The fries are good, hot and plentiful. So why 2 stars? It's because I won't go back. The reason is the price. I would go back, if they dropped their prices, a lot. If the price were decent, I would give it 3 stars, which means I would go back if I were nearby and craved a burger, but I would still not recommend this place to anyone. read more

Last night was my first visit. The sign outside said: Football Deal, 4 burgers and family fry for $22.00. The burgers were quarter pounders. Cheese and bacon extra. When our burgers arrived, they were fresh off the grill. The fries were a few minutes behind. When they did arrive, it was a very large amount, pipping hot, and salted just right. The burger was filling and tasty. Thousand island, onion and shredded lettuce top the patty. The fries were the best part. Big, golden, just right. The foot ball deal should include drinks. I had some takeout from Bob's Giant Burger today. It was my first time here. Very tasty. The chili fries were great and they went out of their way to make a lettuce wrap burger (protein style) for me. They were kind. I loved the atmosphere, this place really captures what we all know as a "50's diner". I ordered a cheeseburger, fries, and a fountain drink. The fountain drink tasted "off", the fries were over cooked and lacking salt, the cheeseburger was pretty good... but the bun was way too big for the size of the hamburger patty. As a life long visitor of Bob's Giant Burger, I was so EXCITED to see them come to Modesto. Growing up in San Jose, we went to the one in Newark then Fremont. We moved to the Central Valley (Manteca) five years ago and would try to hit Fremont's location as much as we could as we would travel back to San Jose frequently (and sometimes just make the hour drive to get their delicious food!) I was nervous that the Modesto one may not be the same... so often recipes and quality change over time. Nope!!!! Same amazing burger and heavenly box of fries! Saw the new location DT modesto and wanted to try. Small inside.. little messy but might have been after a rush. It's a burger joint so I did not expect interior to be perfect or really care. Best Garlic Fries In Modesto! I really like this place for its garlic fries as I think they have the best in the Modesto/Central Valley area. This location is in a downtown shopping plaza (with a Smart and Final and Starbucks), so pretty convenient with plenty of parking. Good food, pricey but what got me was the unprofessionalism. As I was ordering, a customer came in and stated that she did not get her fries and left work to come back, the cashier yelled at the cook who swore she gave her fries, they argued for a minute or two. Also, the cashier did not know how to work the atm card slider so I showed her, though seemed iritated by it. My order when I got it was incorrect & I had to hv the cook, which I found out was the mother of the manager, Megan (who by the way was the one adding the trimming to the burgers)!! Read awhile ago that the original Bobs moved to Modesto but didn't get around to trying it until today. Man, it's definitely different from what I remember. Patties are frozen, flavor was underwhelming and they charged me 75 cents for Hidden Valley ranch. I suggest sticking to their garlic fries which are amazing; full of flavor and not very greasy.
