We decided to spend our 10 year wedding anniversary here because we had heard good things about this place for many years. Unfortunately, the experience was very poor here. Most important note: I had an allergic reaction here after I told the waiter TWICE I was allergic to dairy products. I first told him when we were ordering, and he assured me he would ask about the peppered gravy served over the sautéed potatoes and everything being served. Once our food arrived, I confirmed again about the gravy (because it looked suspicious) and I was again assured I was good with two thumbs up. Our waiter then came around 5 min later and said there actually is milk in the gravy and took my plate away to correct. The damage had already been done though as I had a few quick bites. I was then re-served the same steak from my original plate (my only cut still present). We had to quickly pay and leave to tend to my reaction before it got worse. Honestly can't believe I haven't left a review yet. I have been coming to Bobs for 9ish years, and trust me when I say that's peanuts compared to most people eating at Bobs. This is our favorite special occasion spot. The food is always delicious and the service is amazing and consistent. Ask for Justin to be your server, order some Bacon wrapped jalapeño's or Calamari, get the filet, and wash it down with a lemon drop for the perfect special dinner with the special people in your life, and I guarantee you will be back. After another year around the sun, it was time for a birthday steak dinner. I chose Bob's since it has been a Dallas staple for years. Valet was easy, and I paid online. We were greeted and seated early. Water, bread, and butter arrived quickly. Our server was excellent. She was attentive, friendly, and upbeat throughout the meal. Martinis arrived cold with minimal ice, perfect. We started with calamari. The portion was large, and the flavor was good Not over breaded!!!. I wish the cocktail sauce had more heat. We ordered a filet and a New York strip, both medium rare. Both steaks were cooked correctly. The New York strip only had seasoning on one side and was harder to cut, though not chewy. I ordered a glass of Austin Hope wine. The pour was the smallest I have ever seen. The wine smelled musty and tasted off. I have had this wine before, and it was not right. I mentioned it to the manager during her table check. She did not notice an issue but replaced both glasses. The second pour was worse. The wine still stayed on the bill. I had high hopes for a birthday dinner. I left disappointed and will think twice before waiting another 365 days to celebrate here. UPDATE! First time coming to bob's. We started with the lamb chop - which is honestly a must. Also got a bottle of Justin for the table. The shoe strings (from the lamb chop) were THAT good that we ordered them again as an extra side for the steaks. My wife also got the Mac and cheese as a starter, which unfortunately came out lukewarm. I ordered the NY strip with the smashed potatoes + onions rings + green peppercorn sauce. She ordered the filet with the skillet potatoes + bernaise sauce. Both sauces were good enough. New York strip was cooked to a perfect medium and perfectly complemented the shoes string fries with the green peppercorn sauce. Onions rings were HUGE, but decent, and decided not to add them to the Togo box. Don't eat too much of the bread app offered in the beginning, it'll make you too full. 2. Always get the bacon wrapped shrimp. 3. Skip a salad if you want to enjoy your steak without getting stuffed. The atmosphere is very warm and inviting, and the service is "Class A". I ordered the wedge salad which was excellent. I also ordered the 14oz. ribeye steak, cooked "medium plus" which is between medium and medium well. My sides were the tasty carrot, smashed potatoes and spinach. I was disappointed that my steak was prepared medium rare. Another guest had their steak undercooked as well. There should have been more attention to the steak cook time. The inside is well appointed and the staff was welcoming and gracious from the beginning. We had a large work party of 20 people and were seated in a back dining room. One steak was so blue it may as well been tartar. I ordered mine medium, it came rare, not medium rare but rare. Our waiter was good but he was struggling to keep up. My wife and I made our annual visit to Dallas and as always, had dinner at Bob's Steak and Chop House on our last night. And again, the food, wine, and service were impeccable. For the second year in a row, we were lucky to have John Carlos as our server. He is exceptional at reviewing the specials, taking drink orders/asking the sommelier for his suggestion of a wine that evening and handling the food service throughout. The sommelier suggested a wonderfully full-bodied Argentine red. For an appetizer, we had the shrimp cocktail and had the remoulade sauce on the side. The shrimp were large and delicious. For dinner, we split a 28 oz steak from a local ranch with marbled meat that was tender and delicious. The steak was carved into medallions making it easy to select pieces as we finished a slice or two. The meal came with a delicious, carmelized carrot and we chose garlic mashed potatoes for our second side. Nothing was left on either of our plates. That good. For dessert, we tried the chocolate mousse, made in house. It was light and had a delicious chocolate flavor with a chocolate graham cracker crust. A very good interpretation of this dessert! We sat there a few more minutes over coffee and enjoying the ambiance of the dining room. It was fun to see people coming in, some with children (well-behaved, I should add!) and everyone was smiling/enjoying their time at Bob's Steak and Chop House. We'll be back again next year. I have eaten at Bob's twice in the past year and it's just not that good, despite being considered one of Dallas's best steakhouses. Each time, the steak has been undercooked and under seasoned. Kind of a letdown for $75-80 per steak. On my visit this past week the service was excellent, I will say. We went for an early dinner and were led through a basically empty dining room all the way to a back room that had the atmosphere of a Denny's. (Why do hostesses take people to the worst seats in empty restaurants?) The crab cakes, salads, and mac and cheese were excellent but they didn't make up for the steak. (I can cook a better steak at home: Reverse sear plus SPG and butter.) My scotch and soda came in a tall glass which always annoys me and tells me the bartender isn't a pro. My drink was weak and not very good so I drank maybe half of it during the whole meal. If my drink had been good I probably would have had two or three. The best part of the meal was hanging out with my old friend. That part was great. As we left, we walked back through what was by that time a booming, wood-paneled dining room - like what you imagine a great steakhouse to feel like. Oh well... read more

He knew the menu, and had good suggestions. The only caveat is that we were there on a Thursday night - not Friday or Saturday. The noise level coming from the bar area was eye-popping. I was so glad we were seated in another area of the restaurant away from the bar area. Even then, it was noisy. You can see a nice char and crust on the steak, which is always great. But my first bite, something did not taste "amazing" to me. It seemed as if it lacked flavor and seasoning. After a few bites, it started tasting better. I realized they possibly forgot to season the steak fully. Normally this should not be an issue, but for a Steakhouse known to be one of the best in DFW, I'm imaging every bite to be delicious. However, my steak came with a piece of carrot and skillet fried potatoes tossed in gravy and sautéed onions, which they are apparently known for. The potatoes were a hugeee let down. - Jumbo Scallops Tuscan Pasta (6/10): My wife ordered this, and she was not impressed, especially for the price of $60+ for a pasta dish with 4 scallops that had no flavor. There's not much to say for this entree besides the fact it was not good. - Lamp Chops (9/10): We got this for the appetizers and was by far one of our favorite things. It was cooked and seasoned perfectly. I would say the only thing wrong was that it was a bit too salty. Mushrooms & Spinach (4/10): Not sure what they were trying to do here with this. But was not a fan of this... just was spinach with mushrooms. Lacked seasoning and flavor. Overall, besides the fact that I wasn't too impressed with the steakhouse. Went to Bob's last night and was very underwhelmed. you know for a place thats supposed to have the best steaks in Dallas. They were incredibly average. The worst part about it is it's $70 for a 9 ounce fillet! just a poorly prepared low quality meat of mostly gristle! We started with a Caesar salad and it was about as average as they come as well. We also ordered a large calamari for the table- the batter was nice and crunchy and had a light seasoning that complemented the marinara sauce.
