First time at this location, but have been to Pappadeaux's many times. This location has a really cool vibe, since it is upstairs, giving it a bourbon street feel. (Unsure about an accessible entrance, but would suspect they have one). We made a lunch reservation on Labor Day Monday, and glad we did cause they were busy! Terrell was our server and went above and beyond in service. Genuinely a kind and helpful person, and made our experience even better! He was helpful with suggestions on the menu, very attentive, and made sure we were taken care of. We had a wonderful experience and as usual, the food is amazing. We got shrimp cocktail for our app, perfectly cooked, so flavorful, and a perfect way to start the meal. For our meals we got crawfish étouffée, stuffed crab, and added a pan fried soft shell crab with our stuffed crab and a side of broccolini. Everything was so good, we left nothing behind. For dessert we got cheesecake with raspberry sauce. Different from regular cheesecake, so much more creamy and smooth. Absolutely delicious. Wonderful experience, excellent service, delicious food. Unfortunately, I wish I could give this location a big ZERO! We came here for my sister's birthday and after a hour and 30 minutes we had no appetizers and we had to ask for waters which is weird from the start! The only thing that was brought to our table was dry bread and cold/hard butter. Our waitress name was Kristine and honestly she was the worst i've ever had! The oaklawn location is THE WORST location i've ever been too and I've been to all of the Atlanta locations, the Alabama location and all of the Dallas, Texas locations and I have NEVER had a bad experience. Meanwhile the waiter didn't bring my drink when she brought everyone else's then when I mentioned it she told me I never ordered one! The issue here was the entire right side of the table heard me order my drink and also state that I would be taking care of my sisters drink. We asked for the manager 10 times and someone by the name of Andrea showed up maybe 2 or 3 times out of the 10 with NO SOLUTIONS. The majority of our party ordered from the restaurant week menu so the orders were simple but incomplete and dissatisfying! My shrimp gumbo came out after 1 hour and 40 minutes COLD! Everyone else's came out decent, the waiter Kristine acted as if she ain't understand the issue! I stated that I didn't want any more gumbo after she said she can bring out another. I wasn't offered anything else although on the restaurant weeks menu there were 2 other options. Next, 45 more minutes went by and the waiter came out stating that the dirty rice that came with the majority of our 2nd courses was sold out. Next we all questioning what our options are. 20 more minutes go by and the supposed manager Andrea states that they are sold out of the 3rd course (cheesecake) that the entire table ordered. needless to say for the 2nd course the waiter stated that we could get crab rice instead of dirty rice. Most of us agreed and it came out DRY AF and nasty bug at this point we don't even care we gave up. All of the table received theirs but the birthday girl never got her rice so we asked questions of course the waiter is clueless and the rice later comes out separate from her meal! After that remember they said the dessert of our choice is no more so they bring the bill. We ask if we can get our cake for birthday girl and some guy comes and slams it on the table as if he has any reason to be irritated after what we've been through! The bill was complete bullshit! At that point we don't want our food, we've had a terrible experience but there really wasn't any accountability for anything! We were met with blaming of being short staffed and the kitchen! NEXT, I state that I wont be paying my bill until I speak with the manager and our waiter inappropriately asks me my age! Why that mattered and why she asked me that is still unclear but I tell her my age has nothing to do with my asks of her! Next she explained the check saying that I received over $25 in discounts and after my calculations that was a lie! I went ahead and paid the bill out of frustration although I should've left the shit on the table and walked out! The waiter watches me pay and skip the tip and then INAPPROPRIATELY STATES that I skipped the TIP! I proceeded to tell her that she DIDN'T DESERVE a tip! Her attitude continues and I don't care nor do I say anything else. I approached the manager Andrea to ask one more time if she was really the manager and her, the waiter and some other lady were smirking! THIS experience was Unnecessary , Unacceptable, and Unprofessional and I will not stand for it! I want a refund as this food was thrown in the trash! Received: One salad, with onions and 2 shrimp but no olives, capers, or visible green peppers. Salad 2: no onions, capers, olives or shrimp. Ordered one unsweetened tea and one 1/2 & 1/2. Server never refilled either one correctly. So, we paid $47.00 for bowls of lettuce, one pepperocinis, 2 cherry tomatoes cut in half and a tablespoon (maybe) of feta, drenched in dressing and delivered as is to the table. Our server, Bryson, was in training and provided excellent service. He was patient, attentive, and handled everything with care. I find I do better watching my diet when I actually sit down someplace and eat otherwise I grab just some junk food on the go and that never is good for me. So I popped in here and yes, they had some very healthy selections. We came in on a Friday evening and had no wait! We had thorough, speedy service the whole way through--the waitress was fantastic I wish I remembered her name!! The oysters and gator bites were so yummy and the gator bites come with pickles to offset some of the sweetness of the honey glaze. Extremely disappointing experience -- reservation was not honored, and management handled the situation terribly. We made a 9:45 PM reservation for a birthday celebration. When our party arrived, there was no table available for us. We were initially told that because we had a reservation, once a table became available, we would be seated and served. Then the manager came over and completely contradicted what the host had told us. We were informed that we would not be served because the restaurant closed at 10:00 PM, despite the fact that we had a 9:45 PM reservation and the restaurant had not provided us with a table. If reservations are accepted for 9:45 PM, customers should reasonably expect that reservation to be honored. If the kitchen or restaurant cannot accommodate guests at that time, then reservations should not be offered that late in the first place. The customer should not be left dealing with the consequences of a scheduling or operational decision made by the restaurant. What made the situation even worse was the way management handled it. While we were trying to understand the situation and figure out what to do, the manager proceeded to lock the doors and close out party members who had stepped outside. Instead of trying to find a reasonable solution or even acknowledging the inconvenience being caused, we were essentially left standing there trying to figure out where we could go for a birthday celebration late at night. This wasn't simply a matter of being inconvenienced. Our time was wasted, our birthday plans were disrupted, and we were left scrambling to find another restaurant at an hour when many restaurants were already closing. There were several opportunities for Pappadeaux to handle this professionally, and none of them happened. At a minimum, management should consider: * Making sure hosts and managers are completely aligned on reservation and closing policies so customers aren't given conflicting information. * Adjusting the latest reservation time if the kitchen cannot realistically accommodate guests at that hour. * Implementing and enforcing reasonable table time limits so reserved tables are actually available when guests arrive. * Training management and staff on how to communicate respectfully and professionally, especially when the restaurant's own policies or scheduling have contributed to the problem. * When a reservation cannot be honored, making a genuine effort to accommodate the customer rather than simply telling them they cannot be served. We chose Pappadeaux for a birthday celebration and expected basic professionalism. Instead, we left disappointed, frustrated, and scrambling to find somewhere else to celebrate. A reservation should mean something. If Pappadeaux cannot accommodate a 9:45 PM reservation, then they should not be accepting 9:45 PM reservations. Customers should not be the ones paying the price for poor coordination between the restaurant's reservation system, staff, kitchen, and management. This was a very disappointing experience and, more importantly, a completely avoidable one. read more

Popped in Sunday afternoon for lunch. Got sat right away and perfect timing as it got super busy by the time we left. Got the hot honey alligator bites, gumbo, snapper, shrimp Po boy and something else. The snapper was on my mind as I'd had it at another Pappadeaux and this one was good, just not what I expected. Alligator bites were delicious and. It spicy at all without the sauce. Gumbo was full of meat and tasty. The service was good, when the second round of drinks were a bit delayed, a manager came over to apologize and got a complimentary dessert as compensation. Defiantly a great way to recognize the problem and be proactive on how to handle. Loved the atmosphere as the inside always is bigger than what it looks from outside. Clean and well kept. read more

I want to start this review off by saying I am so disappointed that they took my favorite items off of their menu! It's been a few years since visiting Pappadeaux but I guess I just assumed they wouldn't mess with their popular wins! The experience fell a bit short. We made a reservation for a party of 11 to celebrate an engagement. When we arrived we were told 80% of the party had to be in attendance to be seated. Fair. However the host team needs an updated training on kindness in the delivery. I had a beautiful cake I was surprising the bride with and was told the only option to store it would be in the fridge when I let them know it needed to be in a room temp location. They didn't even offer me a better solution and I had to have our server bring it out herself once we got seated as there were plenty of places for us to put it down in the private room we had reserved for us. This is coming after I called in advance to request holding the decorative balloons for us for a couple of hours before we arrived. We were told no for that as well. The table: we requested seating for 11 and were given only 10 chairs and menus. We had to have our nephew sit at the very end which I know wasn't comfortable. For an engagement dinner it really shocked me that we weren't given any assurance for comfort. Our server Stefany was so kind and accommodating. She was juggling our entire table but without any support, she wasn't able to attend to us fully. The bar was incredibly behind on cocktail orders and my dad's trout came out 20 minutes after everyone else's meals arrived. Another bummer? I was dreaming about the mahi mahi and had my dreams broken when arriving for dinner to not find it anywhere on the menu. Stefany let me know they removed it and I gasped. Haha dramatic but still! Tinka was a great server! We had north east oysters, papas Greek salad, the grouper with carrots topped with pistachios, and my favorite- the hot honey gator! Holy moly. Pappadeaux Seafood Kitchen Friday afternoon lunch was not the best experience. I guess the professional server is a dinosaur theses days. Apparently, Pappadeaux's has had to pull from a a bad pool of applicants. While my server was friendly, she was either overwhelmed or just plain forgetful. I ate a few gator bites that arrived with bread service (which was completely out of order) before I asked for a container to transfer them to so they would not be soggy from the pool of sauce they were in. When she finally resurfaced, it was too late. I had already transferred them to the bread plate to save them. She did apologize. The shrimp & crab cobb salad is a standard for me and the last two times I have been disappointed. They changed it to a wedge of iceberg lettuce. The wedge used to be what appeared was a 1/4 head of lettuce. Now it looks like they have increased the yield and now get 8 wedges from a single head of lettuce. For a $30 salad of nutritionally dense iceberg, this is ridiculous! The wedge looked more like a slice of lettuce. The shrimp were cut in half, and there was an excessive amount of grape tomatoes. The toppings far outweighed the lettuce.If you're not going to cut the lettuce up, then do not cut my shrimp either! Very disappointed! After asking the server for the bill and to-go containers, she disappeared again. I thought it was shift change. I had to ask a manager who was taking a complaint from the table next to me. They too, were upset about the level of service from the same server. I let the manager know as well, "at these price points the service is not up to standard". She apologized but never asked for details. What kind of hospitality manager responds this way??? Now Im super pissed! I thought the FOH mgmt was subpar at Richardson (which is specifically why I drove further to Oak Lawn), but Oak Lawn has them too. I am done w/Pappadeaux's. Have eaten here many times. I've had great service and terrible service depending on which server you get. This last, the server was superb. He was very professional, knowledgeable, and very attentive. The food is very consistent and very good. The fried shrimp are not as good as at my house but for a restaurant they are among the top 3 in Texas. Kathy's in Port O Connor is better but she has an advantage of her husband owning a shrimp boat. Goodies Seafood in Houston has better shrimp also but I'm seldom in Houston anymore They are not a cheap place to eat but I expect to pay more for quality food. Anytime I'm in Dallas, Houston, or Atlanta I try to make it to Pappadeaux. I stopped for lunch before catching a flight at Love Field. The bread and butter was amazing as always. I also had a house salad which was fresh and a good size. I like that the salad was cut up into bite size pieces so it was easy to eat. The vinaigrette dressing was very tasty and not overpowering. I had the shrimp etouffee which had a lot more shrimp than I remembered the dish having. The sauce was very flavorful and rich tasting. It had the right amount of flavor but not overpowering. The service was excellent with the server checking by regularly. This meal reminded me why I like going to Pappadeaux. I only which they had a restaurant closer to where I live. read more

Absolutely divine!! This is my 3rd visit to a Pappadeaux's location. The first was in Fort Worth, the second was at Avenida de las Americas in Houston and now this one. I can honestly say that every experience has been exceptional. Each time, I've come, I've visited while working but this time was for my anniversary and as always, the service and food did not disappoint. Our server Juan was amazing and super helpful. RUDEST staff I have encountered in a really long time. Went in for a to go order of etoufee and an iced tea and was told it would be an HOUR wait. Host kept his head down at his phone the entire time. When I went in on a off time from lunch on a Tuesday there were literally 5 people at the bar and maybe 5 or 6 people at tables. I said an HOUR for etoufee? He just shrugged his shoulders. There's PLENTY of these locations in DFW with superb customer service. I'll just choose to go to them moving forward. Servers were very friendly and had suggestions since it was our first visit.You can customize any dish because everything is made fresh and they will swap items out for you just ask. Our Ceasar salad came out first and I was a bit worried because it did have a lot of dressing. I also got a cup of gumbo which was good but very salty. However when our main dish came out I was floored how good it was. We shared the parpedelle seafood pasta that had almost every kind of seafood including octopus. However, when I was entering the dining area one of the waiters decided to kneel to talk to the customers at a table and did not look when he extended his foot into my path.
