We stopped for lunch at Bocaccini's this afternoon. I have to say that this was undoubtedly the best meal I have ever eaten out. The waitress was wonderful. The rolls with garlic butter were to die for but our meals were out of this world. I had the Chicken Parmesan and the other 3 in our party had Chicken Alfredo. Top notch service, great food, and the prices were less than you would expect for the amount of food served. Needless to say, we took home our leftovers and had them for dinner. We went here for family graduation celebration and there was about 15 of us. The food was delicious. I had spaghetti and meatballs and it was a good size portion. The service was very good. Lots of drinks to chose from. Menu is a good size. My only complaint is we sat by the fireplace in the back and it was very dark but other then that it was good. Went in for dinner last night and be warned, it is under construction. It's going to be beautiful when it's completed but we were disappointed. A long black plastic curtain was hanging from wall to conceal construction. Random weird and distracting sounds throughout the meal. So for whatever reason, I found myself driving around in Palmyra and I stumbled upon this elegant restaurant, Bocaccini's, and when I tell you my experience today was absolutely divine, I am not exaggerating. Today, I was graced with the welcoming smile of the manager, Mia. She was tending the bar and I was happy to see that her and the rest of the staff (hostess, waitresses, and cooks) were taking necessary precautions to keep us safe. Everyone was wearing a mask and everyone was sanitizing. I sat at one of the booths in front of the bar and was impressed with how hospitable and genuine servers Kelly and Penny were. I've been to my fair share of restaurant and I know for sure that good waitstaff is hard to come by. In my brief conversations with the servers I know that Kelly is as loyal to Bocaccini's as she is to her Ohio State Buckeyes and Penny is always locked and loaded with punchlines guaranteed to have you holding your belly in laughter. Now, when it comes to the food, Bocaccini's nails it! Unfortunately, I was too busy inhaling my food to take a picture of it. Alternatively, I did snag a photo of my desert! This Peanut Butter Pie was absolutely amazing. This aesthetic desert was rich and as you can see well prepared by the aforementioned manager, Mia. We went here for lunch on a weekday. We sat outside which was nice for an upstate NY warm weather day. Our food was tasty, the wood fired pizzas are flavorful and large! The pasta dishes were plentiful and also had a great amount of flavor. The main fail was the service- we were one of three tables there at lunch and the service was very slow! I don't know if the kitchen was behind somehow or if the waitress just didn't have any sense of urgency with our orders... but it was quite a wait for having little customers in the place. Ordered eggplant parm and no kidding I received about 3 tiny, thin sliced medallions of breading/eggplant and double the amount of mozzarella thrown on top which was barely melted...way overpowered the lack of eggplant. Came here for a retirement party. Its located with the plaza of tops and other stores, but very easy to find with the sign of the restaurant in big red letters. the decor was nice with mostly booths as seating and tables and chairs surrounding. there is a bar to your right when you walk in and straight ahead is the kitchen where you can see them cooking. the restaurant closed off a separate section for our party of 25. there was a curtain to separate from the restaurant and they put tables together to fit us where the fireplace is. we had their bread with garlic butter (my fav), salad(good), cheese pizza (good), bolognese pasta (very good), another pasta unsure of the name but it had a white sauce meat spinach beans (it was ok), and then chicken farm (very good). our waitress was awesome who kept refilling our waters and removing the plates that we completed. i would come here again if i was looking for an Italian place (different from the chains) and if it was in the area. read more

I loved the atmosphere of this place! Spacious and roomy with nice modern and some industrial elements. The one thing I felt was really missing was a drink menu. I didn't even know there was a full bar until I walked past it as I was leaving. I thought all they had was beer and wine, if there had been a martini menu I would have ordered one. Maybe they can work on making that happen. The service was great. The server I had was so friendly and accommodating. I wish I could remember her name, but she was working lunch on Tuesday, 2-5-13. I believe she was the only server working. It wasn't crowded for lunch. I hope this place gets busier in the coming months because I want to back and with so many small independent restaurants not lasting it worries me. But it was a Tuesday... The food was very good. I ordered the Gorgonzola pear wood fired pizza. It comes with proisutto which I had left off. In a previous review another reviewer ordered this pizza and said that this pizza would be sweet without it. I felt without the meat it was very salty. There were only six very thin slices of pear on the pizza. I would have liked more pears on there to really consider this a Gorgonzola pear pizza. Next time I will order it with more pear. If you are in Fairport or near Eastview mall and don't want to eat at the same old ho hum boring chain restaurants go over to Perinton Square Mall and try this place out! read more

I just ordered the Penne Vodka for takeout. I got there a bit early, and the order was still ready when I got there so great timing! The hostess was very sweet and welcoming. The actual pasta itself is okay, it's nothing to write home about though. My meal did come with a whole loaf of bread which was amazing!! It's not dependent on what we ordered - because we've gotten a couple of the same dishes and one time they were good, next time, not so much. Came on Mothers day with my Mom and sister while the boys watched the kiddos :) Service was ok. She tried taking our plates before we were finished. The ambiance is on the loud side bc of the open kitchen but not bothersome to me. The Caesar salads we ordered were unfortunately watery and not dressed at all. The wine pour was very generous and we enjoyed! The 3 pasta entrees we ordered enormous! Enough for 3 meals but not at all memorable. My sisters was overly peppery and hard to eat more than a few bites. Not a terrible experience but I probably would not return. read more

The sauce on it is like someone took a tomato, put it on the chicken and started smashing it with a closed fist. We were looking forward to a nice Birthday dinner for my wife at Bocaccini's as we had never been there but had read some good reviews. My wife had the Wild Mushroom Ravioli which she said was delicious. I opted for the Shrimp and Lobster Risotto. The risotto had a wonderfully cheesy taste and the shrimp were large and nicely seasoned. My first encounter with a small chunk of "Lobster" had me suspicious. One bite and it fell apart in my mouth into small uniform pieces or strands. I recognized the texture immediately as the cheaper Imitation Crab/Lobster that is common on many Chinese buffets or used in Sushi. It's also known as "Surimi" and usually contains White fish or Pollack as the main ingredient. I dug out a few more pieces for a better look and confirmed my initial suspicion. I mentioned this to the waiter who relayed my disappointment to the kitchen. He returned to tell me that while it was a "processed" lobster it did contain real lobster meat. I did a quick search for imitation lobster products and while some do contain lobster, it is usually the 6th or 7th ingredient after egg whites, potato starch, sugar and the "contains less than 2% of the following" statement. Found in an unassuming strip plaza in Fairport, Bocaccinis is one of the best Italian restaurants in Rochester. While it seems like there are hundreds of Italian restaurants to choose from in Rochester, Bocaccinis stands out for the freshness of the food and the modern atmosphere. I have always stuck to the pasta and chicken dishes, with their Orecchiette Fagioli-Italian Sausage and their Fussili Aioli & Olio-Grilled Chicken with Asparagus being some of my favorite dishes. I have to agree with the first reviewer of Bocaccini's. I could eat there every night of the week. Their menu has such great variety. We will drive out of our way, past a number of other bistros in Rochester, to go to Bocaccini's. The servers are nice and the food comes out in a timely fashion. I love the warm bread with lemon garlic butter. The salads are unique, fresh and delicious. The paninis and thin crust brick oven pizza are done just right. The Penne Fagioli is my favorite (I'd like it even more if it had just bit less oil). My wife says the fish fry on Friday is excellent and she loves the vegetable lasagna, butternut squash ravioli, and the french fries (but not all at the same time...usually). We like to get there early without a reservation as it fills up quickly on the weekends, but if we ever have a wait, there is a nice bar with a television. A ruined evening... I feel compelled to write this review to warn other diners. My wife & I stopped in for a drink and meal this evening. It's the first time we have visited since the beginning of the pandemic. Needless to say we did not enjoy our experience. While the staff was friendly and responsive and the food was good(not great), it was when we looked up that we were appalled.. The ceiling, light fixtures and window blinds were covered in a layer of grease and dirt. When we mentioned this to our server, she apologized and explained that the restaurant was supposed to be renovated, but the pandemic interrupted that plan. It seems that the decision was made to wait for renovations rather than clean the facility. The hostess also apologized, but offered no explanation. Finally, the air quality negatively affected my wife's COPD. She is having difficulty breathing as a result of our visit. A filthy restaurant is not appetizing. If I had to pick only one restaurant in Rochester to eat at for the rest of my life...man, it'd be Bocaccini's, hands down. You cannot get any better than this. Several years ago, we discovered it by accident, hidden as it is in a long strip mall/plaza, but we have been fans ever since. I'll gladly drive the half hour it takes to get there from my house, rather than eat somewhere closer. The food is AMAZING. Pizza, pasta, salads, appetizers...every single thing I've ordered there, I have loved. From the warm bread with lemon garlic butter that they bring out at the start of every meal, to the salad (I dream about their salad, that's how good it is), to the entrées (their tomato sauce beats the heck out of Olive Garden or any of its contemporaries, to say the least), to the desserts (in a word, tantalizing) I'm just in love with it all. Add to that a trendy atmosphere (casual, social, yet low-key and relaxed) with great décor, and servers that are second to none (our most favourite waitress there doesn't even need to ask us what we want to order anymore, even when we haven't been there in a couple of months, she never forgets!) and you have a recipe for success. I had to remind the server that he didn't take our drink order AFTER we ordered our meals. The Sicilian calamari was very tasty. My meal (Limone with veal) however, was sub-par as the sauce is supposed to be a 4-cheese alfredo but there was no thickness and tasted watered down less wine-ish. The time between the salad and meal was extremely long and there was hardly anyone at the restaurant. They messed up my girlfriend's order but still charged full price for the meal she didn't get. I complained about it and they only gave $1 discount. (Tip to manager: if you cook an entire meal with one meat, it will taste entirely different than the one she actually ordered for it.) Chanced into this place on a recent business trip where I found myself at a hotel in Victor. Was in the mood for Italian, and the Yelp reviews seemed good, so I went for it. Was not disappointed. I went for one of the specials, a panko encrusted veal chop served over grilled cauliflower and baby potatoes. It was excellent. The chop was tender and done to perfection. The grilled cauliflower was delicious and a nice touch. Perhaps a bit too much butter used in the recipe, but on the whole it was very good. The wait staff was also very good, w/ my waiter being attentive but not annoying. I ordered an espresso after dinner. It came to the table a little on the watery side, and w/o creme; and I pointed this out to the waiter, who promptly apologized and brought me another w/o any problem. The second came to the table brewed perfectly. The restaurant is located in a strip mall, but it offers an outdoor dining area, and the inside is specious and unpretentious. I was hard on them the last time I reviewed Bocaccini's but it's been over a year now and they've changed the menu so I thought I would review them again. Bocaccini's is right down the way from us. We probably visit there about once a month, sometimes once every few weeks, as a simple place to have a bit to eat after work when my lovely wife doesn't want to prepare one of her excellent meals (she'd get 5 stars by the way). They continue to have the traditional things on the menu (like their pizzas which I always like and recommend - try the pear and gorgonzola pizza but ask if the pears are ripe first as it's only really good if they are sweet to cut the gorgonzola and proscuitto). Anyway, I tried a new pasta carbonara dish (warning, it's not the same one listed on the web site - the web site presently shows thier old menu, not the new). It was excellent,. and I'll probably finish it for lunch today - tender pieces of chicken, smoked flavor, onions and bacon. All in all a nice combination. The crowds seem to have picked up a bit as well. They were pretty busy for a Monday evening. I'd definitely recommend giving them a try. A nice local addition in a area that is devoid of any good restaurants. Oh by the way, the service staff is top notch.
