Blair Bodensteiner has come to rescue my AC on SEVERAL occasions and is always quick to respond and offer solutions. He takes good service personally and that is clear in the way he conducts himself and his business. I am writing this review because once again, Blair has come to the rescue. This past week during the extreme freezing weather many Houstonians, including myself, experienced pipes busting in their homes and found themselves in dire need of a plumber. I had reached out to several plumbing companies with no luck. I thought of Blair and reached out to him to see if he had any contacts. He immediately picked up his phone and provided the contacts he had. Later that day, he checked in to see if I had found a plumber to do the repair. I was still in the service line. The next morning, Blair reached out with another plumber whom I immediately contacted and that afternoon he showed up to repair my pipes. Within 1.5 hours, I had running water. The plumber was also very professional and conscientious to create as least damage to the wall as possible. FANTASTIC service. This plumber has now repaired the home of my neighbor and a friend in the heights. Based on other good reviews we contacted Bodensteiner Service when our AC started to short cycle. We initially left a voicemail and Blair got back to us right away and Hank was able to come out and troubleshoot our problem the same day. It ended up being a bad fan and because our system is finicky Hank had to come out 3 other times to get the system to work perfectly and he did so promptly and professionally without charging extra and making us feel bad. Overall we are extremely happy with our experience. We felt that the communication was great from the start and service was prompt, professional and fair. I had a problem with my air conditioning unit (an outside, old HVAC), called Bodensteiner and got a nice voice on the other line answering my call. She was plenty friendly, but couldn't say when anyone would call me back. Fortunately, Blair did call me back within a few hours, got to the repair the same day (after hours), and the repair was quick and relatively inexpensive (under $200). So I'd give props for having a friendly receptionist, prompt service, and reasonable prices. I ding them one star only because it wasn't clear to me when they'd be in touch with me. read more

I have always used Lee Thompson Co for my HVAC repair needs. I had a leak in my evaporator coil and LTC recommended replacement of the entire air handling unit due to the location of the leak on the coil. I was not convinced that I needed to spend that kind of money on a leak and called Bodensteiner upon the recommendation of a friend. Blair diagnosed the leak and recommended soldering as an alternative. It worked and is still working - as I should have written this review over a year ago. read more

Our AC has gone out twice in the last month. We were finally referred to Blair. He arrived first thing in the morning and fixed the problem. We are renting an old Heights house so when we got home from work and realized I the fan looked like it stopped, we called again and left a message. Five minutes later Blair called back. Five minutes after that he was at our house. Basically, the issue was in a poorly maintained unit and a lack of insulation in the house. But, he inspected the unit and the ductwork in the attic....after hours....on the same day. Great service for AC repair. I found Bodensteiner after receiving a quote from another company. Bodensteiner is located in my neighborhood and they have great customer service. From the initial call, diagnostic visit, and repair, they were very professional and courteous. Hank, the service man, came by on the same day for the diagnostic visit. He tried to troubleshoot the problem, but found that he would need to replace a part. He came back within two days and completed the job. Their price was even less than 1/3 of the cost the other company had quoted. They were able to buy a generic part to repair my AC and save me money. Blair is our hero. We came home from a week away (in July) to a 95 degree house. Outside and inside unit were not making a sound and fuse were not tripped. We had to sleep in this beatbox for the remainder of the night as the "24 hour" places were not answering First thing in the morning we called a few places most really unprofessional. Bodensteiner had a phone number on their answering machine for Blair. He answered. We could tell he was busy but took the call anyway and told us he would come over right after. He shoulder up under an hour later ran some diagnostics and called his partner to start working on parts. He was finished in 3 hours and we have AC. Very affordable price and very honest technician The thing I liked most about this is how Blair didn't start the convo with how much it will cost to come out to do an estimate (and if they do the work they will waive it). He gave us advice "turn off the thermostat to make sure you don't burn the unit". Then he came out and started problem solving. The resulting service was ~$400 and could have been a lot worse. Being, a Saturday, I anticipated, the possibility of not being able to get same day service. Yet, despite, being booked, Blair, empatheticly, squeezed me in & was at my home in less than 2 hrs. Overall, very happy with Bodensteiner's service. When I returned from vacation I noticed my AC was short cycling and wasn't cooling the house, so I called a local HVAC company that had more reviews to diagnose and repair. Their quote seemed high and they were also vague on the reason for repairs, so I wanted to get a second opinion. I called Bodensteiner later that Saturday but got their voicemail. Their voicemail said "for emergencies call...." but I just left a message instead. I didn't get a response until first thing Sunday morning (which was a bummer, but I would say is my fault for not calling the emergency line). Hank came out within an hour of the call (Sunday morning), diagnosed the problem very quickly and explained the issue to me and answered all my questions. Hank said they could repair the evaporator coil and replace the Freon AND give me a discount on the Freon (since I was going to need so much) the following day (parts store was closed on Sundays). Originally, they quoted a $80 "callout charge," but this was included in the total repair costs. In all, I saved a big chunk of change by going with Bodensteiner. They were fair, competitive, professional and speedy. I will continue to use them for any future HVAC needs and would recommend them to anyone in the area. read more

Finally, an honest AC company! Blair arrived within the timeframe that we requested. He checked out our AC and didn't find anything wrong with it. John Moore Services had been out a couple weeks earlier and quoted repairs ranging from $270-$970. I knew there was nothing wrong with one of the parts they said had to be replaced so I called Bodensteiner. John Moore has an F rating with the BBB for good reason. Called them one morning recently when our AC quit working at night, and Blair came over within the hour. Of course you always assume the worse, but he was able to pinpoint the problem pretty quickly and easily and didn't try to sell me a whole new system ( which is what I was afraid of, as mine is fairly old). I have had a home warranty for over 5 years and have only made 1 claim prior to 2 weeks ago when my AC started acting up. It would not cool. The home warranty sent one of their certified techs to my home. Upon his arrival he seemed nice and professional. He said that the temperature outside is just too hot and cleaned my outside coils and then went on his way (only after he told me that I was such a beautiful woman atleast 4 times). The following 2 weeks were saturated with rain and the temperatures were now in the double digits in lieu of 3. Then on a Sunday My AC shut off completely. The technician returned (this time my boyfriend was their in lieu of me) and said the unit was shot. The compressor and the fan motor are gone. Since my unit is 10 years old that I needed to replace the condenser and the furnace for a discounted price of $7300.00. I am a single mom and went into panic mode instantly wondering how I was going to make this happen. So for 4 days I transported my children from my parents home to school prior to getting to work. STRESSING like I couldn't believe. Then my boyfriends co-worker recommended Bodensteiner. Said that these guys are great and he just had his entire unit replaced and is 100% satisfied with their honesty and integrity. Needless to say I called on a Friday and spoke with Blair. Blair came to my home on Saturday afternoon. When Blair arrived he immediately looked at the unit and said that it was the fan motor only and the compressor and all other items are fine. So other than wanting to cry in relief and give hugs to all at Bodensteiner I just could not believe or help to wonder how many people are taken advantage of during situations like this. It is just sad. So I am going to gladly spread the experience I had using Bodensteiner with all people I know or anyone I hear in need.
