Looooove this place! Such a friendly, welcoming vibe with lots of open-plan seating. There are tables ranging from 2 seats to much large, as well as a small high top bar. I've been here several time and it seems each time I visit the Price just keeps going up and up. $7 for a 24oz Cold Brew is WILD to me. Then to add insult to injury, I ordered a breakfast burrito that was almost $9 dollars. When I got the burrito it was obvious that these are premade and just heated up. My boyfriend came here with his brother a few weeks ago and he had been mentioning how much he loved the mug he enjoyed his coffee in ever since, of COURSE he had to take me! Though they were super busy, Kelly made a point to talk us through the menu as she was fulfilling orders with her team. What caught my eye immediately were their "mocktail-like" specials, if you know me, you know I can't say no to a fun drink. I was struggling between the Pumpkin Cold Brew Matcha ($6.70) & the Muffin Man ($6.70) but after mulling it over in great detail with Kelly, I went with a 16 ounce Iced Muffin Man (more than $6.70 because I changed the size) & The Big Bird Sandwich ($8.95) My boyfriend chose a Nitro Cold Brew ($5.40), a Double Espresso ($4.25), & The Classic Breakfast Burrito ($8.55) We were able to grab a high table by the door & were given our items pretty quickly despite how busy they were. There's really not much to say, the Big Bird was amazing, there's a seasonal jam on there that I thought was phenomenal (it was apricot maybe?), I will say there was a ~tad~ bit too much jam but I'd much rather that than they skimp out on me, ya know? It shows they care! They also have really good turkey, that along with the sourdough is a good enough reason to get it. 9.7/10 The Muffin Man was yummy, I loved that I could taste the blueberry syrup and brown sugar equally, neither were overpowering to each other or in general, would definitely get it again (but my eye is on the Pumpkin Cold Foam Matcha next time) 9/10 My boyfriend enjoyed the cold brew and espresso shot, he's something of a coffee nut so he knows the beans and all of that better than I do, I trust his opinion. 9.8/10 He liked the Classic Breakfast Burrito, I grabbed a bite and enjoyed it as well although it was his second choice but the Haymaker Burrito doesn't come without Pickled Jalapeño so he had to pass (something about pickled peppers & coffee just doesn't sit well with us for some reason....) 8.8/10 As I'm looking through the photos, I remembered that we got a Vegan Cake Donut (Churro flavored) from the stand by the register. The Bodhi drip was okay at first. I had it black. After several minutes of cooling a bit in the heavy ceramic mug the flavors really opened up. The bedsheets scene with Harvey Keitel in Pulp Fiction comes to mind. It wasn't the best cup I've had, which was a Kona peaberry at a coffee farm in Kona, but it was pretty good. My wife had some kind of chai matcha latte thing that she said was very good. Too sweet for me, but we were both happy with our drinks. I look forward to trying their French press and pour over cups to compare, and will likely grab a bag of one of their fresh roasted whole bean. I'm not to sure how this place gained popularity. Maybe it was just today but the lady taking my order seemed miserable. Ordered a ham breakfast burrito and sausage breakfast burrito. The tortilla itself I was soggy despite eating within 10 min, the eggs felt like chewing into warm styrofoam, the first half of the burrito was pure eggs before getting to the any other contents and to top it off, the didn't put the ham in. The sausage burrito didn't do much better either. It was bland and lifeless, I wouldn't feed that to my dog . The coffees were just okay too. Just moved to OC January 2022 and I'm on a quest to find my favorite third wave coffee shop. This is the 4th cafe I've tried. I ordered my usual, a cortado. It was decent and only $3.50! I also liked that they had agave syrup out on the bar with the sugar packets. This Bodhi location has a ton of seating both indoor and outdoor. I was in a bit of a rush after going to Baker Ranch dog park nearby so I didn't sit and enjoy my coffee but there were plenty of people doing just that when I went around 10am. I got a matcha latte here and unfortunately it wasn't very good. I love supporting local spots and wanted to love their matcha latte but it was very watery and did not have a strong matcha taste. The sweetener was too light and overall felt like it was drinking an iced water with a little bit of matcha. I am sad to say that despite the fact that Bodhi makes the very best coffee and matcha latte's in South OC, I won't ever go back. The coffee is excellent. The service when the manager is there is excellent. But when she is not there - the service is simply inexcusable. When the manager is there it is a tight, well oiled machine and she is amazing. She remembers everyone's name, their order, and something about their life. When she is not there it all falls apart. Today my husband waited in the car while I went in. I warned him - this place is slow and it might take awhile. But 20 minutes for one matcha latte to go? He was getting frustrated and so was everyone else waiting before me. It wasn't even that busy. People were grumbling, starting to lose patience. I could not believe how slowly the baristas were moving. Every single movement - slooooooowwwwww, pause, slooooowwwww. I finally asked how much longer and they hadn't even started making my order so I asked for a refund - including the tip I gave. So - what's going on? Is it true what everyone is saying about the service industry, this new generation just not caring??? All I know I that I can't wait 20 minutes for a latte to go despite how wonderful the coffee is.
