I stopped by Reborn Coffee the other day. I'd been meaning to try it for a while and finally made it happen. The space itself is clean, bright, and inviting. And the coffee -- the most important part -- was genuinely excellent. I ordered a flat white, and it was one of the best I've had in the States. Unfortunately, the service was a letdown. It wasn't slow (I was the only customer at the counter), but the basic courtesy and warmth you'd expect at a coffee shop were completely missing. I greeted the barista cheerfully and tried to be friendly, but you would have thought I'd offended her personally. I get that everyone has off days -- maybe I reminded her of someone she didn't like -- but the customer who came in right after me was greeted with a warm smile and a cheerful "Good morning! The usual?" My thank-yous, on the other hand, were met with grunts and glares. All in all, it wasn't the best introduction to Reborn or the most pleasant way to start my day. read more

I've been wanting to try Reborn's signature drinks, and the Coconut Mocha Latte appealed to me right away. The espresso was rich with plenty of body and the coconut was flavorful without being overly sweet. A nice touch: they didn't cover the drink at pickup, so I could actually see the quality (and that great foam) immediately. The shop itself is clean, welcoming, and has ample seating for actually sitting down to enjoy your coffee. Plus, the staff was very friendly and made the visit a breeze. My husband and I frequent this establishment regularly as our local coffee shop and since the new management has taken over...the service has been terrible! What a sad state of affairs for locals to witness such a terrible transition in baristas. Today, Janelle, one of the baristas, was rude, inconsiderate of my request for an artichoke danish...I asked her for the one in the front of the tray and she said, No, I have to give you the one in back because we have to go in order". WHAT! I have never had anyone do that. She was rude, rolling her eyes when I turned to leave and shrugging her shoulders. I will NEVER come to this coffee shop again and that is saying something...because we frequented this establishment since it opened. Had to update my review! This place has so many charging outlets. This allows my to charge my laptop and phone! First time trying this spot out Was brought some goodies from this location I can relay service was wonderful and helpful and it appeared to be a quaint picturesque spot Organic chai and hazelnut made well, soothing, not over powering in the chai, and no odd after taste The pastrami croissant, yes pastrami anything and what a surprise to find thin slices of pickles too! Cheese was not overpowering which I loved and the croissant was not too doughy, over buttery, and dense. Loved the uniqueness of this baked good. The herb and tome cheese danish had a hidden pleasant spice that crept up and disappeared as quick as it came. Hearty crunch and flakiness. Thank you for the recommendation! And let's not forget empanadas. So apparently 3 types available and I was able to try the chicken florentina, dough had a little crunch was filled well With shredded chicken some type of chipotle sauce and little specks of red whether a Tomato or pepper but didn't not overpower. I love that this shop is right next to stater bros so it's nice to get a little pick me up while grocery shopping! There is plenty of seating inside and the service was amazing, so kind of efficient. Unfortunately the matcha itself left a lot to be desired. The matcha had a very grassy taste and the strawberry puree wasn't sweet enough to pull the drink together. I'm pretty new to OC, so I've been checking out different specialty coffee shops. Some are better than others, but I still haven't found anything that beats my love for La Colombe in West LA. Reborn Coffee is pretty good though. The atmosphere is warm and inviting, with a crowd I wouldn't mind being around, whether working, reading, or just hanging out. And here's a big one: it actually smells like coffee inside. That might sound minor, but to me, it's a sign of quality. Walk into a Starbucks and you get... nothing. Reborn has that cozy scent of fresh beans being ground, and it gives the place a legit, welcoming vibe. The barista did a great job frothing the milk, and overall, the late I got was solid. REBORN COFFEE is not so close to the freeway. We went out of our way to visit this coffee shop and it was worth it. This IS a LAPTOP cafe. It's also a great place to meet up with friends or bring your family to. It's a great place to visit not just because of the space, but because the COFFEE is delicious. It was a hot morning so we ordered an ICED LATTE with regular milk and the coffee was strong, not bitter, very creamy, and had some sort of flowery thing going on. Loved it. Even better was their STRAWBERRY MATCHA. Looked beautiful and tasted great! Not too sweet. The matcha was earthy. STRAWBERRY LEMONADE is refreshing. Staff was super patient. Barista was fast. The drinks at Reborn Coffee are top notch: the Americano, the Nutella Latte, the Chagaccino are some of the best. The pastries and empanadas are great. The retail / merchandise items are top of the line, not the least expensive but very good quality. One great thing, at least at the Laguna Woods location, is the ample space table and the plugs. The staff is incredibly friendly - you really don't feel you're being served in a chain shop. The only complaint I have is the hours: this is a place that should be open until 8pm, at least. read more

Cute little spot for coffee and snacks. FOOD - The olive oil cake was really good. The drinks were good as well. I had the hot chai latte. SERVICE - VERY great! They allow dogs inside and it was such a relief because it was chilly outside. We wanted to enjoy our drink and cake but had our dog. Every single worker that day was absolutely friendly and asked to pet our dog. They even talked about some regulars and saw regulars come in. I was running some errands on a weekday morning and stopped here for some caffeine and carbs. I ordered a flat white and chose a cinnamon roll from the many offerings in their pastry case. The perky woman behind the counter offered to heat it up which I enthusiastically agreed to. I wanted to sit and enjoy my purchase there but every table in the place was taken by single laptop campers who had seemingly set up shop for the day (at tables that would normally seat 4 people) or senior ladies with long-empty mugs enjoying their morning chat. There were a couple of available outdoor tables so, braving the chilly morning air, I took my items outside. There was another fellow in his hoodie huddled at the table next to me warming himself with a hot drink of some sort. The cinnamon roll was quite good. Warm, fresh, and cinnamony with plenty of frosting that was rich with a mild sweetness, enough to satisfy my sweet tooth. The flat white was well made except for being blistering hot. Even sitting in the cold air it took 15 minutes before I could even sip it. Still, a great alternative to that behemoth coffee chain if you want better coffee. read more

It's not as busy, and doesn't have quite the traditional coffee shop vibe, but OK, and enough tables and chairs to accommodate more customers than they had, at least at 10 AM today. The downside, no soy milk at this store and unlike CDM where they always have vegan donuts, there were none here today. Would go back. I love coffee but can have only decaf. I stopped here and ordered a decaf flat white and also a hot chocolate for my husband. One of the best coffees I have had in years! Strong and ruch with no bitterness -- no sugar needed -- the rest of excellence. We sat outdoors at one of their 3 tables for two. So glad there is outdoor seating...and our barista brought our drinks out, along with two pastries we ordered. She warmed the hazelnut croissant and it was delicious. We saved the other for later. I wish we could walk there. I would splurge for a flat white and pastry every day! The best coffee I have had in years. I love the atmosphere of this café. There's plenty of seating for you to chat with friends or study. I'm not that big of a fan of blueberry matcha, but the blueberry matcha served here was amazing. Weekends are for checking out new coffee shops! I had heard of Reborn before, as they also have a location in Corona del Mar, but I had never been there. This location is located off of El Toro Rd in Laguna Woods. They're in a medium sized shopping plaza with Home Depot being the largest retailer. I believe that Starbucks used to occupy the space that Reborn is in now. I arrived soon after they opened at 6:30am on a Saturday and I was the only one there. There were two employees and they weren't the most enthusiastic but the guy barista was helpful. I asked if he could make a strawberry mocha and he said that the strawberry powder or syrup wouldn't mix well with the mocha. I appreciated his honesty. I ended up getting a regular mocha with oat milk. It was very creamy and delicious. I liked that the mocha wasn't overpowering or too sweet. Their pastry display looked amazing with lots of vegan options. I'm not vegan but I decided to try their strawberry donut, and OMG'! The first bite was dense but the flavor was amazing! I would return for the donuts alone! This is definitely a welcomed and much needed good coffee shop for the area. read more

This is a super cute coffee shop! I met my girlfriends here yesterday to get some work done, and everything was on point. The staff are super friendly, and the food was delicious! I ordered the chicken Alfredo empanadas and and a coffee pour over. Both were great! My friends got different coffees and snacks as well, the banana cake was a table favorite. Yummy without being overly sweet and still felt light despite being a dense banana bread. Would definitely recommend. PS. Merlin stopping by was an added bonus, someone hire that doggo!
