Body by Brooklyn was recommended to me for a facial. I stopped by today to schedule an appointment and they told me I could have the facial today, which I did. I have never been able to book a same-day facial. The front desk staff was friendly and attentive. I was given a robe, disposable under clothes and flip flops (you pay for the undies and flip flops or you can bring your own). I was shown the women's locker room which was very clean and fresh smelling. After changing, I was given a brief tour of the facility. I had the Deep Pore facial with Marlene which was divine. She really took the time to care for my skin (the facial lasted about 80 minutes)and the massage of the arms, neck and shoulders was the icing on the cake. I will definitely return. read more

I attended a Birthday Celebration for my friend this past weekend and I was not pleased at all. First, the robes were a little dingy to my liking and it didn't have a fresh detergent aroma to it. Now the package there was supposed to be sauna and Jacuzzi available, we were told that both were were unavailable due to maintenance issue/repairs. Which was unfortunate because we just sat around in our robes and drank champagne and talk. The host did mentioned that the Jacuzzi is open to sit in and the water was warm but the jets not working and just to tell you no the water was not warm. I just wished they informed us about the Jacuzzi and sauna and gave us a discount because we all spend money instead they gave us voucher to come back Mon-Thurs which I will not be returning. At first I did not choose the massage option and decided to while I was there and the lady who did my massage it was OK but it felt rushed I guess because it wasn't planned plus I wasn't asked which massage I wanted out of the three options that was offered. The food was like Chinese food as if it was purchased and delivered over. The appetizers were plated with the main meal which was weird to me because it was supposed to served before the meal. To be honest the staff that was there did try their best. The host was the bartender, the "cook" and the receptionist and manager all at the same time which was also weird he was nice but that was a lot. The place is a big scam. I won a raffle from a charity for this spa that said to expire in a year. Fast forward to a year a later and I'm trying to redeem my gift certificate for the raffle I won. I called in to make sure I was still able to come in.They denied my raffle and didn't acknowledge me at all. I sent them all the info needed to verify I won the raffle. They still denied saying they had no proof I came to redeem spa.How do you not keep track of theses things. And the manager Paola was utterly unprofessional and does not know how to establish a clientele with potential customers. What a shame. I love spas and if I would've like this place I would've came back well good riddance to them and I'll make sure not to refer anyone to this place. I've been here before for a massage, and again, most recently to take advantage of the wet lounge. And my experiences have been okay. The staffers are helpful. The women's locker room is spacious and serene. There's plenty of space and seating to lounge, chitchat. And besides being expansive, its aesthetic appeal is sleek, modern, minimal. Downside: Steam room was out of commission when we were there. And it was a bit crowded in the wet lounge (left the sauna, then waited to take the cold plunge--I didn't think that part was meant for people to stay in there awhile, oh well. Maybe I'll try the wet lounge again on a weekday. All in all BBB is a nice escape where I can sneak away from all the deadlines and just relax...even if just for a couple of hours. read more

Convenience is key! Great to have a spa right in the 'hood! Like on of the other reviewers, this spa is walking distance from my neighbourhood so its been a great find to have a full service spa that is very CLEAN and relatively new within walking distance. I had a similar experience with towel scarcity when they first opened, but I've been a couple times recently and it seems like they have worked out some of the kinks in their service (the manager seems to be pretty focused on improving this - I even scored a a free pass once when I complained about the service I'd received). Since then, it's been steadily improving. I really appreciate a russian banya in a newer/ cleaner setting than the ones in Manhattan. I've had some excellent massages AND also importantly, they have a full bar with some great cocktails (though these are a bit pricey for BK with $13 specialty martinis). Also look out for their specials that they offer frequently (45 min massages or facials for $55) as a cheaper way to visit. Access to the banyas are free with any service. Luxury pampering.....did i say that correctly? LUXURY PAMPERING! Been coming here since they opened maybe 7-8 years ago and i have never left disappointed in my dozen or so times. I do not know why it took me so long to review it. I love them that much that i purchase gift certificates for family and friends for the holidays and they all come back so happy that they went. The therapists are world class and the environment is so relaxing. Feels like you walked into another world coming off Park Avenue that is for sure. The place is spotless! I have gone there looking for anything out of order but i never can find it. They also serve food and drinks which are top shelf as well. Nothing to complain about in anyway. Not Worth It-- Poor Guest Experience I booked a couples massage as a gift for my boyfriend months in advance. I had been in contact with the front desk via email multiple times before the visit so the line of communication was definitely open. Upon our arrival we checked in and the woman at the front desk informed us that 1/2 of the wet spa was "undergoing remodeling" and therefore not available. I expressed to her that it was very disappointing that nobody thought of contacting guests beforehand to let them know. I would have rescheduled the massage as it was a gift and the whole gift was the spa experience. Needless to say the woman at the front desk did not even acknowledge my comment and the gift to my boyfriend was ruined not to mention I spent over $400 on it. Overall just a really disappointing experience. Would recommend going to Spa Castle in Midtown or one of the spas in Korea Town if you're looking for a wet spa experience with the ability to also add on treatments. read more

First, me and my friends were skeptical about coming here based on some of the reviews but long story short we wanted to still celebrate a friends birthdays who chose this spot ( the birthday girl) so two of us decided to call management and go check out the place before the day of the event ( spa party of 7) during the visit we checked for roaches and mold and everything looked clean and nice. Fast forward to the day of the event. Place was beautiful and cozy and seemed really clean. Our host was so beautiful and amazing! Everyone enjoyed their massage except one of my friends who requested a specific oil but got something else. Everyone was having fun until it was time to eat and some of the food was cold unfortunately except ( I will say my plate was really really good and warm tho) and next to our table was a pillar with a ROACH ‼climbing on it we told the waiter and he went over to kill it while more guests were coming towards our section which was awkward af. In the beginning it was hard to connect with the event coordinator but once I did she was very helpful and responsive. I would definitely go back. The facility was clean and the staff were nice and accommodating. We actually had the food and it was good. Please try the corn bread muffins with the whipped honey butter. Here are some highlights: 1) The facility is clean 2) We forgot flip flops and they sold us decent ones for $3 3) The front desk staff was very friendly 4) The steam room and saunas were fun Here are some negatives: 1) The facility is very small - no privacy 2) The massage therapists were not very friendly and seemed like they didn't want to be there 3) I have had MANY massages in my life and the one I received was less than mediocre. I have been going to Body by Brooklyn for years and have gone back during some ups after experiencing the downs. This is because the massage therapists are excellent (as were the facialists though based on what one did to my sister I do not recommend that service). Today we were there and were told when we arrived that the saunas were being renovated, which they could have told us in advance or at least given us a discount. We have sadly watched as the rickety lounge chairs have all broken. Today I practically fell on the floor in one and so it was taken away, leaving us with four chairs. My robe had a stain in the pocket and I pray that was the only thing dirty. Meanwhile the lockers which used to work fine with keys, were changed a while back to some that are now mostly broken (go all the way to the third set to find any that may work). Overall, it's not a relaxing experience and it is EXPENSIVE. I've tried to be loyal but from now on I'll go nowhere or elsewhere. When it opened it was spotless, there were plenty of towels, everything worked well, and there was a nice menu with healthy snacks and drinks. (they recently began what appears to be bringing in take out from a Thai restaurant) read more

This review is for when I went with my friend in April, hopefully for the sake of this establishment it isn't as horrendous anymore. I wish that yelp had negative stars because that is exactly what I would give this place. Honestly, I did it to myself by not reading the yelp reviews before booking a "spa day". On a whim I found their instagram page and mentioned to my friend that we should go here for a spa day for my birthday. She booked us both swedish massages for two and also booked to have the VIP couples room for an extra hour after our massage. The day of we were super excited for a relaxing day at the spa. After we checked in and they verified our massages and room reservation we were given keys for a locker and robes. We should have turned around right then because the locker key that I got was to a locker that was already occupied... I'm sorry but lets say the next person they "accidentally" gave an occupied locker key to wasn't as honest as I was and decided to steal someones entire life out of their locker, then what? When I gave the key back to the receptionist she was just like oh, so I guess it happens often. After we got changed we went to wait for our massages. Both of our massages were great, and when we were done they asked us to wait back in the waiting room because they were going to take the massage beds out and get the room ready. Apparently the room that we were getting the massages in was the VIP room. Okay, fair enough. After waiting outside for 10-15 minutes the receptionist comes up to me and tells us that apparently they double booked and someone was getting a facial in the room we were just in, and that it wouldn't be available for another hour and they were sorry for the inconvenience. You should have seen our face. So obviously we were beyond furious, not only for the amount of money my friend spent on our "spa day", but the fact that not once but 3 people CONFIRMED our massages and then the room we booked afterwards. So as were flipping out a lady who WORKS THERE overheard and told us that it happens all the time and to check the yelp reviews and that we need to complain to management and hopefully something gets changed because it happens so often. Thats how you know something is wrong with your establishment when your own workers are tired of it. Anyways so the receptionist sends over another lady who tells us the same thing and were still flipping out, when finally the manager Nina brought us into her office. Basically she told us that we were overreacting and it wasn't a big deal and something about how the computer system had a glitch and people book over the phone and on the computer and it got overbooked by accident. I'm sorry but if your workers (and numerous yelp reviews) are saying this happens all the time, no it isn't a glitch, you just don't know how to run a business. She pretty much tried to brush off the fact that it was her fault that they "double booked by accident" and made it more into the fact that we were making a scene. She basically wanted us to wait another hour and then get an hour in the private room after the other client's facial was finished. I told her that we had plans afterwards and didn't anticipate spending an entire day waiting for what we paid for. Basically after going back and forth with her after numerous times where she asked us "well what do you want?" hmnnn I don't know maybe what we paid for??? She told us that the lady was getting the room ready. Honestly at that point it was probably already the hour it took the other lady to get her facial done I was fuming. So were sitting outside waiting (again) for the room to be ready and Nina comes and brings us two glasses of champagne (on the house) thank you so much. The other manager Rose came up to us and she apologized profusely. I guess she could see on our face that we were nowhere near relaxed and probably even more tense than when we first arrived. Rose was ten times more pleasant to talk to, and she even told us that we weren't the first ones to have an issue with the way the first manager comes across (LOL). She gave us like a 10% discount and gave us both passes to come back in and try the spa again. I really don't know if I have it in me to even give it another chance, but maybe one day if I'm extremely bored. The place is also super small, the pictures are deceiving on instagram. In all honesty, if you want to try this place out, come for a massage and then leave, don't talk to anybody and you will probably have an okay time. Or talk to Rose she was a doll I genuinely feel bad that I have a bad taste from this place, and she really tried everything she could. The massage itself I would give 3 stars. But our experience overall there was completely irritating for the amount of money we spent. read more

I celebrated my birthday here on Saturday12/15/18 & it was PHENOMENAL. I had the 60-minute Swedish Deep Tissue Massage & my massage therapist (Elizabeth) was incredible. I only had to tell her my tender spots once and she was on it. An amazing experience. The room was dark, zen & a total escape. The staff was very nice. The bartender was very friendly, asked me why I was there & if there was a special occasion & when I told her it was my birthday she was super engaged and pleasant. LOVED my experience there. I do have to admit that the prices of the services (IN MY OPINION) doesn't match with the overall LOOK & SIZE of the spa. Honestly, the appearance of luxury wasn't really there to me. The quality of furniture in the dry lounge is not as upscale as it appears online. The tables and benches and chairs had rips and marks and looked very old. All in all, everything was clean, very spacious and I had no issues. The locker room was clean & spotless and very nice. They had razors available, shaving cream, cotton swabs, & blow dryers. Warning: they changed their menu, so everything on there ( which is only three items) is fried. All they offer is chicken and waffles, crispy chicken salad, and guacamole and chips (which they didn't even have the ingredients to make). Our food took over a hour and 20 minutes because we were told that "They don't have any of the ingredients so they have to go to the store." The funniest part is when we tried to order a second round of guacamole and chips we got denied due to them running out of ingredients they supposedly went to the store for earlier. The drinks weren't anything to to talk about. I asked if they at least had any fruits to be told that they only have kiwi, which we were charged $12 for a kiwi cut up in a bowl. First of let me say the massage was great, as was the facial however this place needs a huge overhaul and makeover. It's dated old and falling apart. How they pass any inspections is beyond me. I got a 45 min Swedish massage special for $70 as well as a 45 min facial for $70. There was a very loud drilling construction noise going on during my entire massage.. this was not something I was told at the front desk. They also hold your id at the front desk which is odd. I had already paid part of it online, so I wasn't going to skip out on $100 bucks. Also the lockers have these cheap battery operated pin code locks that don't work. I managed to lock it but then couldn't open it again. A worker told me how too open it with a reset code so I was concerned all my stuff would be gone when I got back. Sketchy. Also it's very dark in there, not relaxing. Both saunas were out of order, which was annoying. Steam room was ok but every spa should use eucalyptus oil for steam, so I it smells better. Overall I wass happy with the masseuse Rina and the facialist Elizabeth, but happy I didn't pay full price. Also my massage ended at 243pm not 245, however it was great she's very thorough and strong! Go at your own discretion, but there are better more well maintained spas. Bathrooms were clean, but not many towels and the robes are dingy, However white is a terribly hard color to keep bright and clean. read more

Please do not go to this spa if you're looking for an actual spa experience I can write an entire article regarding the horrendous experience I had, but i'll keep it short . 1. The facility itself is outdated and unhygienic. The woman 's locker room was not stocked with towels and there were dust bunnies everywhere. 2. I was injured when an unsecured pallet of wood fell on my leg in the sauna , I informed the manager and he said " Thanks for telling me" , A real lack of concern and consideration was shown however the bruise and swelling on my leg were apparent. 3. My friends and I asked for a menu and after 10 minutes of waiting by an empty bar we were informed by that same manager that he cannot find the staff, " the must have left" . why would the staff leave at 4pm on a Friday and the manager not know? At this point we just left , I cannot comment on the treatments as those employees weren't there either. It was a waste of time and money to go to Body By Brooklyn and I would not recommend it to anyone. read more

Forget a star rating, how about an F? I went for a 30 minute massage and prior to me booking my reservation I checked out the website. I called to make a reservation and 2 different people checked with a manager to confirm the price. The therapist I had was great, so I booked her again right after my massage was done. I happen to call regarding my upcoming reservation and was told by Terrance that I have to pay an extra $55 entrance fee for the same service I received a week prior. Now, after explaining to him my previous reservation was confirmed more than once by a manager, which was him, and that there was no entrance fee, since I was not going to be using the sauna, lounge, etc., I was done. Totally disappointed! And, the worst part is that the other manager Tukki booked my second reservation( same massage a week prior) and mentioned nothing about an entrance fee. When asking her about the discrepancy( since she didn't even charge me the $55 entrance fee) she now was unaware of anything...smh! I had Terrance cancel my appointment. Husband and I came to redeem a gift certificate for a couples massage. Our massages were good (not great)(not strong enough, despite my asking) but the overall experience just didn't feel luxurious enough for the price. For the pricepoint, I much prefer more highend experiences like Setai in FiDi..... or a down and dirty Korean massage that gets the job done for much less money. Worth noting that the front desk area seemed especially frenetic which makes arrival and departure a little stressful. (On the plus side, loved the heated massage tables! I first visited BBB back in 2010 hadn't been back in a while as I live in Queens and its not the easiest place to get to, but as my birthday just passed I figured I would treat myself to a Facial and some stress relief. As I mentioned BBB isn't closest spa to me but I liked it the last time I went so I booked here again to get a Microdermabrasion facial. Due to lovely NYC public transportation I was running way behind, then I took a cab and they had no idea where they were going so I of course missed my appointment. So I got out and hustled to the Spa and I was really amazed at how BBB moved things around when I was running late for my appointment, I started to not even come when I missed my scheduled appointment but I am glad I did. When I walked in and they told me to calm down and relax my day got 1000 times better, I would recommend Body by Brooklyn to anyone. MY VISIT WAS DIVINE... I joined 2 other friends for my friends 30th bday ; ) and we all recieved swedish massages. What i loved most was the ambiance,It was quiet and soothing. We just felt like we were in a spa retreat somewhere far away(outside ogf bk lol) We enjoyed every bit of this spa,from the moment we left our lockers in our robes and slippers.We had brunch at the bar (bartender alicia was friendly and even brought a dessert for my friends bday which made him feel so special)Although they ran out of the french toast the Jerk chicken wraps were on point! After our massage we sat and had great conversation by the fireplace. And later While my 2 friends enjoyed the steam room I recieved a tour of the VIP SUITE.* A MUST DO FOR SPECIAL EVENT BDAY/VALENTINES DAY. This spa is nice, great for groups and/or just a couple. I enjoyed the wet room including the two saunas and steam room for the day. However, there were two occasions in which I could not find any towels after showering. When leaving, there was an unpleasant surprise when we found out that we were charged for all top shelf drinks. They were never requested, and we were never informed by the bartender that we were not getting regular priced drinks. This was my first time at this spa and I will say I had a great time. I enjoyed it for the relaxing and calming environment it was. The only two things that were short from a 5-star rating was the misleading statement on the website about $10 all day parking; there is no parking and I went on a weekday... if I we're to go to this spa on a weekend I am not sure if I would've had the same tranquil experience. The wet lounge is only a capacity of 55 people (fire hazard) but with the enjoyable relaxation space to the actual spa-goer I would say less. If a whole bridal party is in the general area, I wouldn't say its spacious enough for them and the general public. The jacuzzi can seat about 5-6 people comfortably and the cold plunge is meant for 1 person at a time. The sauna is can definitely accommodate much more but if you have been to other spas, saunas are much more bigger than your average household room. My favorite part was my massage. I got the body polish special of July, it starts with a body scrub applied to the front and back surfaces. You then shower and then get polished & buff incorporating the massage portion. I felt amazing after and ready for a gracious nap haha! I had Riina, she's great! My favorite place in the spa was the locker rooms. It was absolutely divine, spacious and SPOTLESS! Everything you needed was there. You honestly needed to bring yourself. Now that I am acquainted with the establishment, I can definitely visit them again! read more
