Yesterday I went to body by Brooklyn for my best friend birthday and we both got Swedish massages. It was excellent. My guy Ron did his things making sure to pay attention to were I needed extra attention at. After our massages we wet into the wet lounge which was also relaxing. We went after 5pm so it wasn't to many people there which made it even better. We also enjoyed the rum punch pitcher which was nice and strong. Definitely would recommend this spa and will be coming back very soon. read more

I was given the give a prenatal massage today and I had E. She was awesome. I'm 7 months, but she was gentle and effective. I was impressed with the cleanliness and openness of the establishment. Every part of the spa was "relaxing" visually-open, airy, and neutral. One should realize that many book parties here, so it may not be the quietest spa in NY, but how many spas offer food and a bar? Not exactly aiming to be quiet like a library. I will definitely be back after the baby is born to see how well they give a normal massage. The water spa/and entire place was dirty, mold smells, service was abrupt, water was cloudy, a bit abandoned....BAD spa music-RAP-not relaxing. The ONLY thing good about my overpriced massage (I have had them in 21 countries in shacks and in 4 star hotels) was that Rosa was actually quite good and the BEST asset they have on staff by FAR-loose her loose everything. I think she is the ONLY reason I would consider returning... but probably wont as there are WAY better places, including my own bathtub. The room was okay, a bit dirty dark tiled walls never cleaned, the place overall needs SERIOUS cleaning, from floors to walls. The water rooms were empty and water was cloudy and dark, dirty and old. I just want to preface this by saying that I am a spa virgin. I have no idea what to expect, I have no idea what the whole spa experience is suppose to be like so this is new to me. I had a massage appointment at 1:45 was promptly taken in at that time. I request the half hour swedish massage and it was good. I was still a little tense afterwards but maybe that's because I didn't know how to relax. The wet lounge was nice as well, the area is rather small for the 35 people max capacity. There were only about 5-8 lounge chairs for people to relax in, other wise you'd have to be in one of the saunas or in the hot tub. I went into the steam room which was relaxing, but then all of a sudden there were very loud banging noises, not sure what it was but completely killed the serenity I was feeling. The other suana was too hot for me. It was 194 degrees, I went in there to see what all the hype was about and singed my nose hairs! Too hot to bear. I still don't really understand the appeal of saunas. All in all this was a nice place. Fairly relaxing and really nice decor. Price point is rather steep which is one of the reasons preventing me from coming back. read more

I've never been to one of these places before and had no idea what to expect. My boyfriend got me and his sister a gift certificate for "the works" which was basically mani/pedi/ massage so who am I to say no? Good boyfriend indeed! I went on their website to book our appointment, kept getting nothing available no matter what day or time I chose, ended up calling them to book the appointments. Inside it was nice and empty, we ended up going on a week day and it was a chilly day, perfect for craving nice warm hot tub! Despite the emptiness, they couldn't seem to book us for service at the same time, so one of us was forced to kill an hour alone. The mani/pedi itself was fine, but super limited color choices. The massage portion of the service was incredibly brief, and the 1 hour total was really more like 45 minutes. But service was fine, I had liked it but overall unmemorable. They advertise as being large, but the overall 'wet room' facilities seemed small to me. I think it would be a nightmare if the place was packed. Wish they had more jacuzzis and steam rooms. The jacuzzi was nice, though had a funny smell, but I sat in there and boiled myself happily for quite awhile. The steam room was tolerable for about 15 minutes for me. Went into the 195 degree sauna for about 5 seconds, that was all I could stand. Seriously its too hot to even breathe in there and after a second the suffocation panic sets in! We were there for about 4 hours, and I was starving but the food was on the pricey side and I didn't want a meal, just a snack, but they only seem to have brunch so I skipped on that. Overall we both enjoyed ourselves, and the facilities were clean. and I would probably go again if I have a weekday off. read more

The services were great. I got a deep tissue massage, a facial and reflexology treatment. The transitions were seamless. The lounge area was cool. They have a fireplace and about 6 flat screen tv's. On the downside, there were quite a few derelicts/ undesirables there. Not the fault of the spa but I took one look in the wet room and I knew that I wouldn't be using it, even if I had brought some swimming trunks. If you're a guy and you wear a size 13 like I do, remember to bring your own flip flops because the biggest size they had was a 10, not very comfy. read more

Pros: give you a robe free, russian sauna really hot, steam room nice, locker room clean. Cons: grossly insufficient towels, hot tub has icky gross nasty *really smelly* dirty water w no circulation, russian sauna totally falling apart w boards loose (one flew up at me) and no lights working. So for $45 you get 1 steam & 1 sauna that are ok and 2 other unusable facilities - but I can get that at my ymca and in better condition. What a nice little jem in the middle of Brooklyn. Headed there on my birthday for a couple's treatment and ended up having a wonderful relaxing day. My friend gifted me a massage for $114 to this place. The gift certificate is not yet expired but I am being told the new owner has established a policy where gift certificates can only be used for extra VIP services or general entrance, not for the actual SERVICE that was PURCHASED. That is a really inconsiderate policy especially since it would have been really difficult for me to use the gift certificate earlier. This is just bad form and I don't recommend anyone put money in the pockets of owners such as these. Had a couple's massage for my boyfriend's birthday with Jessica and Ron. I must say Ron was excellent. Very professional, not inappropriate AT ALL like the spa virgins on here mention. He gave me a great massage and my boyfriend his massage by Jessica. The wet lounge leave a lot to be desired. It would be nicer if they had a pool. The receptionist was not friendly, not pleasant, looked like she hated her job. The locker room is small and uncomfortable but fairly clean. I do not regret coming here, but I would never go back. So I went back yesterday for the full spa experience. A friend was having her bday party at the spa and I was invited to come along. Upfront..for $170 I would get the spa scrub and massage, brunch and one drink. Tax and tip were included in the price. While pricey I thought what the heck. You only live once! We arrived around 1 and had brunch. I decided on the burger. It was a little over done but the fries and side salad made up for it. The waiter had a bit of a tude when I asked for water without lemon. The pitcher was placed no so gently on the table and he proceeded to stomp away. The lounge where we were eating was packed with women chatting. I had an issue with the level of noise in the room. Many were a little, uh, tispy and they proceed to talk louder and louder with each sip. Although it clearly states that cell phone usage is not permitted, plenty of people were chatting it up on the phone. So much for relaxing in the lounge. We headed to the wet lounge after and that was a far better experience. The water for the hot plunge was perfect and the cold plunge was just that. Just plain cold! The steam room was pleasant as well. That area was a lot more relaxed and I liked that part. For my treatment the scrub was good. The only part that I didn't like was the changing of rooms during the procedure. It seemed to be routine though. The bathrooms and locker room were clean. However some of the faucets barely had any water pressure. The lack of soap to wash your hands was also quite apparent. Other items were available like lotion and hair products. Some of the people in my party complained about the dinginess of their robes. So all in all it was an eh experience. Not the best scrub I've gotten nor the best service. This place is UNSAFE FOR TRANS FOLKS-- that is why I feel it warrants a one star. I went here for a couples massage with my trans wife. I am nonbinary trans person myself. The masseuses were very kind and non judgmental, but I cannot say the same thing for the front of house staff. After we had both entered the woman's dressing room and began changing, a staff member followed us in and asked "excuse me, are you female and male?" We were so taken aback by that question-- because the answer is no, and we were both in the changing room we felt most comfortable in. But I answered "um, female and female" out of fear of outing ourselves and being discriminated upon. The staff member replied "okay good because I know if a woman came in here and saw a male she would freak out". This interaction was super uncomfortable and made especially my wife feel so unsafe. Like I said, the masseuses were very kind, but we were both worried about the encounter throughout the whole massage-- making the whole experience not very relaxing. read more

Went back again with a friend this past weekend. My masseuse was an hour late. The manager was very nice and apologetic but at the mercy of his employee so I was stuck. Waited it out and got a great massage but the aggravation was not worth it. Plus my friend had to then wait around for an extra hour until I was done. Other annoyance - only one pair of broken flip flops left in the locker room (they did bring out a new pair for me but originally said I had to pay $4 for them). On the positive side - I also got a glass of champagne gratis during my wait and was placed on a list for future free VIP service. What they SHOULD have done was give me a discount on the service or, better yet, comped it. What the masseuse SHOULD have done, was refused the late client that came in before me so I wouldn't have to pay for her inconsiderate behavior. If I could rate this venue with a demerit I would. As a long time patron of Body by Brooklyn, it pains me to update my review, however, this establishment is no longer worthy of my dollars. Yesterday I paid a visit to the spa only to leave wholly unsatisfied. Let me rephrase that: I left sick to my stomach because of its filthy conditions. It's as if the owners feel that they do not have any competition and subsequently have little regard for customers' experiences. The facilities look worn with noticeable chips in the furniture, cracked tiles and odd stains (and odor!) in the showers and bathroom. The robes are dingy af! The stack of towels that is on the table before entering the wet lounge was damp and dingy as well. The drains on the floor inside the wet lounge area must be clogged because of the constant wading pool. The water in the jacuzzi pool was lukewarm. Upon entering, I could feel a level of viscosity in the water. Like, why is that a thing?? WTF?! There was a dark ring/film of filth in the pool enough to obscure the sign demarcating the depth. #fuckinggross It appears that something is growing or eating (take your pick) the wooden bench in the Swedish sauna. The steam room, that is now working after being broken for almost 3 months-more on that later, has an odd and putrid smell when the steamer dies down and lays dormant for a few minutes... (After bringing this to the attention of management -as if they didn't know the conditions -#howsway- they let on that there was a party of 200, replete with DJ, that wrapped at 6 am. So clearly, they did not clean thoroughly, as they did not have time, but they took my money, though??) The impervious attitude of management/owner has far exceeded its capacity; this has now become a department of health issue. Body by Brooklyn used to be a pleasant and easily accessible spa getaway that I used to enjoy. Unfortunately, I purchased a couple of massage series and BBB has refused to refund any portion of it even though the circumstances under which I purchased them and services were not upheld by the vendor. Instead, they simply throw around spa passes for the wet lounge... I have about 7 of them shits - you do the math! (Oh, to be fair, they did comp me and my guest with a dry ass kale salad and shrimp tacos... #unimpressed) Do yourself a favor, pass this "spa" by. read more

The therapists, the sauna, the jacuzzi, the steam room, the showers, the lockers (which were all spotless by the way) the food as well as the staff were all amazing especially the spas manager Ms. Rose. Ms. Rose was the consummate professionally as she ran around accommodating all six (6) of our girls needs. She paid attention to detail, which isn't always easy, and did NOT disappoint us. The ONLY reason this place is getting any stars from me is because the woman who did my massage was good, I highly suggest she leaves and goes to an actual spa that is clean and properly run. We had a group that each had multiple treatments scheduled and the woman who checked us in was rude and could not comprehend us putting all treatments on the gift card we had (which was the only reason we came here in the first place). We were never given a tour of the spa being it was our first time and every spa I've ever been to I've been shown around, all we got was a point and her saying the locker room is that way. Filthy locker room I had to pick up 6 towels before I actually found a clean one. The we were left to find the jacuzzi on our own which was so cloudy and had a layer of God only knows what on top of it. There was club music blaring from everywhere, not exactly a relaxing spa environment, it really seems like a place a sleazy man would take a hooker. My massage was good and I really think the woman who did it would benefit greatly from moving locations. When I was supposed to have my final treatment no one seemed to know about it and I was told it was booked for 2 hours later which was incorrect and then When I said I didn't even want it anymore I was told I was going be charged a fee for cancelling!!! A decent local spa option. Went to Body by Brooklyn on a late Sunday afternoon to use the water lounge. Not crowded. Overall, I think this place is just ok. Being right around the corner for me, it's nice for a quick hit. However, it doesn't compare in my mind to Spa Castle in Flushing or more luxurious spa facilities such as Great Jones. When I want to treat myself, I hit Great Jones - by far the best massages I've ever had. For general water lounging, I think Spa Castle has a better layout and options and since it's the same price as Body by Brooklyn, it wins in my book. Pros: clean and friendly staff. Unlike Spa Castle, this is adults only and people are there to let go - not drink up like I've seen on the roof of Spa Castle. Two different saunas are nice options. Cons: Really small hot tub and plunge pool and lounge chair area that could use some feng shui. Felt like it could be a little cleaner - could have been due to a day of use, but I would have liked to feel more relaxed through the illusion that it was being cleaned throughout the day. Bottom Line: I think the $45 price tag for the water lounge is way overpriced for what you get. WIth a massage, I think it might be worth it, but I wouldn't pay that again. read more

We came in for massages for a birthday celebration and we're disappointed by the facility itself. The wet lounge is very tiny, there is a small hot tub and a small plunge that won't fit more than for people comfortably. We basically had to wait for people to get out of the hot tub for us to get in. The sauna's were very nice. The bar wasn't open until 12 so we couldn't have some champagne before our massage which was a bummer. My friend needed a larger robe and they didn't have any to accommodate her size, she felt embarrassed walking throughout the spa in an open robe. HORRIBLE EXPERIENCE!!!! Everything started out very nice. The receptionist was very shady. They gave us fresh robes and had a nice changing area. They lacked aromatherapy for a "spa". I went with a group and we ended up waiting 15 mins for our massages even though our masseur walked right past us! Their wet bar was very small and lacked what they amped up on their sites. After my party and I began to leave the wet bar that's when the problems worsened: 1. We stumbled upon three roaches in three different areas. (One at the entrance of the wet bar, and two in the showers). Their excuse had been "the exterminator was called last week". 2. There was a horrible odor that reeked of wet mop (GROSS) 3. They "misplaced" my ID for about 20-30 minutes. Once they realized that they misplaced the ID they made the manager come to the front desk. He slightly helped looked for the ID. As I kept saying "i don't have it" they continued to tell me that it was given to my mother who had left minutes ahead of me. As I frantically called her asking her to look for the ID she kept telling me the same thing "i'm sorry but I don't have it". Time kept passing and each of the cashiers gave me disgusted faces, like this was my fault. Their attitudes got worse and worse to me as I sat and waited for them to find my ID. And after the whole ordeal was over all they could say was "sorry for the inconvenience" with horrible attitudes in front of the manager (who did not even offer compensation for my time or apologize for his workers attitudes). What was great was the sauna, hot tub, steam room and then the cold pool to cool off. I went here with a friend of mine and, overall, our experience was pretty good. There is a parking garage available nearby but frankly, we thought it was a little sketchy looking so we opted to use the ample parking that was available across from the spa (under the BQE). As some others here commented, the front desk are was a tad hectic. I believe that the small desk being staffed with multiple staff members contributes to the confusion. Nevertheless, they were professional and helpful. Once we checked in, we had mimosas and some continental breakfast in the lovely, sunlight drenched restaurant area. Brunch and sandwiches were also available. The locker room was very clean and stocked with towels, robes, flip flops, soap, shampoo, conditioner, and at least one blow dryer. The lockers, however, were small -- especially with winter gear. Additionally, it seemed as if some locker areas were crowded (like mine) while others were empty. That said, lockers should be assigned in a manner to avoid crowding. My one hour swedish massage pleasant: the lights were very dim (practically dark) and there was soft music playing. The oil was heated and my masseuse was attentive and did a solid job. Afterwards, my friend and I spent about an hour in the wet lounge: hot sauna, even hotter steamroom, a not-so-hot (temp wise) jacuzzi, and a cold plunge (I wasn't even going there). They had lounge chairs but mine was broken (it didn't properly recline). When all was said and done, I left feeling clean and was happy I tried out BBB. ___________ Your take aways: (1) Try to go at an off-peak time as the wet lounge area could get crowded and loud. I must be living a charmed life because my day at this spa went very, very smoothly. I took a friend here for his birthday. It was a Friday and we got there quite early. The place was mostly deserted. We were greeted politely at the front desk where we purchased some sea salt for the Turkish steam room. With locker keys in hand, we were given a short tour of the spa before we were led to the locker room. The locker room/shower area was spotless and had some toiletries available such as razors, q-tips, hair spray, etc. The robe was soft and the slippers comfy. We were there taking advantage of a $22/day coupon for the water cycle so I can't vouch for the massages or other services available. The water cycle area is small and I can see how it can get crowded quick, but if you go on a weekday you should have no problem finding room in the hot tub or the saunas. Our bathing companions were few, but certainly added to our enjoyment. We made conversation with a couple of gossipy sybarites, an Argentinian musician who was tattooed from head to toe and an orthodox Jewish man who exhibit a complete fascination with my cleavage. Fun. The water cycle is not as vast as some you might find at a Russian banya, but it was enough to get the cramps out of our muscles and allow us to relax. The spa provides cards with different cycle combinations that you can try. Once we were done soaking and sweating we tried one of the juices at the bar. Service was great, no complaints. First, upon entry the place had a fowl odor. For a first visit we asked the front desk where things were and they said it was self explanatory rather than giving us a tour. When we entered the "wet lounge" it smelled disgusting. There was hair inside the hot tub, no sanitation required before going in, the steam room reeked of Bo, and in one of the saunas I again found more hair and stains. I'd compare the hot tub to nothing less than a mud bath. In the dry lounge my friend and I were going to sit on one of the beds but after witnessing almost a dozen different people come out of the wet lounge and lay on the beds we realize they don't clean them between usage. My massage therapist was the only person that gave me a tour , answered questions and acted with any sort of professionalism. To reiterate we asked the front desk staff what we needed to know in our visit they said it was self explanatory. So my friend who also purchased a massage did not know she had to go sit in a waiting area before her massage. She was sitting in the next room & had dozed off. My massage ended at 6 when Hers was supposed to start. My masseuse and I saw her sitting on the computer and asked if my friend was inside. The lady said she's been looking every where. My masseuse said she was probably in the next room. We found her within 30 seconds and said her name and she woke up. Meaning this lady did not attempt to look for her she just lost track of time. When my friend went back with her she had nothing set up so the massage didnt begin till 6:30 and the lady ended at 6:50 and then ran to her boss and said that my friend had headphones on and was missing. This was a complete lie. When I explained what actually happened they said they needed to hear both sides of the story. I said that the other masseuse (my masseuse) saw what happened and could verify but they didn't call him because he was "off work." The manager than comes and we need rexplain everything just for her to interrupt me and say "can I talk" and reiterate that she needed to hear both sides. So even though the wet lounge was filthy I couldn't have even gone to relax because I spent all of my time going back and forth with staff. I have photographs of the filth I witnessed but to respect privacy of others in wet lounge I'm holding off on posting in hopes the business finally rectifies their mistake. They offered a bull shit discount. Rather than giving my friend a full refund. So between her and I we spent $325 for the worst, unsanitary, and unpleasant spa visit I've ever experienced. I don't think any thing in their spa is even up to code. The only thing I will say is if this is your last resort personally request Kindu as your masseuse. He was professional , kind and gave me the tour I'm sure someone else was responsible for . I've never been so infuriated in my life by the lack of customer service and accommodation of the customer. read more

My experience at Body By Brooklyn was exactly what I had hoped for! From the atmosphere to the facilities to the services, it is truly a great spa. I got a Deep Pore Cleansing Facial and I was very pleased with the results. It was the perfect length of time and I felt extremely relaxed throughout the entire hour. After my facial I went into the sauna and fell into a truly blissful and serene state--something that every college student needs to escape to every now and then! The other great thing about Body by Brooklyn is that they have a Martini Lounge! Although I didn't go in as part of my visit, it looked as though all the customers inside the lounge were having a great time. I also saw that there were private parties and catered events, something that not every spa in the area has. I would definitely book a party here for an event such as a birthday party or a reunion of some type with close friends. Ok so, I visited today based on word of mouth, and a little help from a Yelper(Alysha R.) . I wated to check it out for few reason, especially since my birthday is next week and trying to get some girls together or a special someone. Upon entering the receptionist was friendly, on the phone with another client, so I filled the form out. Then wisked off to the ladies locker room. Everything was extremely clean, the decor was great, so far so good. I agree fellow Yelpers yes, you are in your street clothes when shown the facilities. I brought my own slippers, you can use theirs, they are washable and they do wash them. She was eating her lunch(the receptionist) so my tour was somewhat rushed...that I did not like at all. Her speech wasn't too clear, but she was friendly. Friendly doesn't cut it when I'm paying my money to receive a tour by a receptionist with food in her mouth. They have these little note cards that tell you ways you can use the jacuzzi, sauna and cold plunge. whcih wasn't a favorite for me...too cold. I received my braclet with my key for my locker, the lockers were nice and clean and had everything you needed, soap, shampoo, conditioner, deoderant, towels, shaving cream, and slippers. I had Sharon she was very nice and very good. I recieved the swedish massage, it was great. I too exspected more scents during my massage, but it had oh gee I forgot the oil but it's one of their best sellers. I was not going to spend the $ 60.00 on the little bottle of oil, but was told it's concentrated and last longer than most oils used in burners. I then went to the wet lounge and the Jacuzzi was HOT , and powerful! I met 3 people discussing work, they were friendly introducing themselves but their deep conversation, forced me out to the sauna, where I think I sweated off 3 pounds of salt in my body. Loved that. I then showered off and lounged in the chair. I waited for about 15 mins and no one came, so I went to get a menu. I ordered a tuna sandwich and pineapple martini, the martini was waaaay too strong, but I don't drink that much anymore so for some it may be good. People were friendly in there and although I was alone I didn't feel anyway at all. It was a calming relaxing enviorment and I'd go again...Oh, the sandwich was good as well. My review is this, it was nice, I'd revisit BBB. It's close but I wanted just a little bit more. read more

Body by Brooklyn was recommended to me for a facial. I stopped by today to schedule an appointment and they told me I could have the facial today, which I did. I have never been able to book a same-day facial. The front desk staff was friendly and attentive. I was given a robe, disposable under clothes and flip flops (you pay for the undies and flip flops or you can bring your own). I was shown the women's locker room which was very clean and fresh smelling. After changing, I was given a brief tour of the facility. I had the Deep Pore facial with Marlene which was divine. She really took the time to care for my skin (the facial lasted about 80 minutes)and the massage of the arms, neck and shoulders was the icing on the cake. I will definitely return. read more
