I just had my 20th and 21st piercings done at Body Electric and I have to say, Brian is hands-down the best piercer I've ever gone to. He was warm, patient and incredibly professional. He walked me through everything in such a calm, confident way that the whole experience felt easy. His technique is outstanding. This is the first time after all my piercings that I woke up the next day with absolutely no pain. ZERO! Both placements are perfect and you can see the care he puts into every detail. I've been pierced all over LA. Yes, Brian is on the pricier side, but you truly get what you pay for. The quality, precision and overall experience make it more than worth it. I won't go anywhere else. He also did my teen's belly piercing and it came out flawless. She even said her ears hurt more than her belly. I spoke with Eric Dakota (the man who invented the daith) who said that I have a tricky anatomy for this piercing. I am retracting what I said about the healing because it simply wasn't Brian's fault. Brian was courteous and professional the whole time: definitely worth a visit! Also, what I thought was expensive for a gold ring was actually pretty standard. I will say, however, that I wish there was a larger jewelry selection after having seen other studios' BVLA, Tawapa, Hialeah, etc. collections. If you're okay with a simple stud, Brian has you covered; if you want something with more shape or different precious stones, I'd recommend somewhere like Julhead or Oak and Poppy (even though Oak and Poppy's selection is mainly diamonds). read more

Brian Keith Thompson is truly an expert piercer and stylist forsure. He's pierced Queen B, Cardi B, and many others. I really admire and love his style of piercing so I inquired about an appointment over email, which he then replied it's a $500 minimum to reserve an appointment with him. Each piercing being $50 each, a rook being about $370 total (jewelry and piercing) and each diamond stud being about $210 total. I made an appointment with him over email. His assistant confirmed the appointment the night before. Right when I met Brian, he immediately went straight to business while making me feel very comfortable. He has the type of personality where you instantly trust his opinion on what looks good, what doesn't, ultimately trusting him in general. I told him I wanted a rook piercing with a triple cartilage piercing. He said a triple would make my ear look too crowded, so we agreed on a rook and a double. (We both didn't want to do too many piercings at once). We then decided on jewelry (from BVLA -- so gold and diamonds), and then he prepped/sterilized all the equipment. The placement and actual piercings took about 5 minutes total. The entire process taking about 40 minutes. He also is very personable and talked to me/distracted me throughout the piercings. I'm not anxious or nervous about needles, but if you are, he would definitely be able to calm anyone down. After the appointment, they give you and explain a handout of how to take care of the jewelry, along with some mild soap. I'm so glad I booked an appointment with him. I will definitely come back in the future to get my lobes styled and pierced. read more

HI MARINA!! Next time spend the extra money, or have a better attitude. I think I win the ear sensitivity game. I went to Brian after spending money at a plastic surgeon's office who sewed up my gauges from when I was 15. He pierced my ears about 4 months after I had them snipped with scissors. The scars at the time were very visible. And he was an absolute rockstar. I felt no pain, no discomfort and had Brian do multiple piercings in one sitting. (6 total) He spends time asking you what metals you want and double checking before sterilizing them. If you didn't get your preferred metal, YOU weren't clear. I just want to update my review to let everyone know that Brian is the most responsive guy! You are paying for not just the quality of the piercing and jewlery, but also the best customer service for aftercare. One of my piercing has been having problem since I got it, I would write Brian emails and send him pictures, he always responded to me and would instruct me on what to do. Even though the piercing kept on having problems, but every time I just followed Brian's instruction, my problematic piercing looked a lot better within a few days! Unfortunately I kept on hitting it by accident so the problem kept on coming back. But Brian has always been so patient with me and he would even offer me to go see him. The last time I went to see Brian was last week, he scheduled me in right away with his first availability that suited my time. He magically fixed my piercing. Now my piercing looks brand new, and it's on the road to recovery again, minus the new-piercing-pain. Hopefully it will just heal 100% from here on. Second thing - everyone who works here is kind, you don't get the attitude that you will sometimes find other other shops. I was getting cold at the end of a long session and I guy I hadn't spoken to all day asked if I was ok and could he get me a jacket or something to put on. Last thing - Martin is AMAZING. Yes, it's currently appointment only (and I heard walk-in wait times were gnarly pre-COVID, never tested it out myself) and yes, you're paying a pretty penny to work with people who cater to VIPs and celebs, but it's worth it for the artistry, service, and quality work you leave with. I first came to get pierced by Brian after seeing him in a couple of Refinery29 videos. The process was nice, gentle, and easy as can be when you're getting poked with a needle. I have sensitive skin and have had some issues come up with my helix even though it's almost been a couple of years since I've had it, and BKT hasn't hesitated to help over email when I've asked. I came here for my first tattoo, was recommended to Ray (@rayjtattoo on IG), and other than a trip here or there to other artists when I'm out of town, haven't strayed far from him when I want a new piece. My best friend and I just got our ears pierced by Brian and it was the most amazing experience. We have been wanting to get pierced by him for years and since she is in NYC and I am here in LA it has been tough for all of our schedules to match. I think this was probably the best part of her trip here to visit me in California. I had not gotten my ears pierced since I was in middle school so I was super nervous. Brian made it such a personal and unique experience, he seemed just as excited to pierce our ears as we were for him to pierce them for us!! It was a high energy, exciting, uplifting experience (to say the least). Literally worth every penny. I asked him for advice on what he thought for my ear and it was so crazy he said exactly what I was thinking I wanted!! He switched out both my double holes for gold hoops that he had to thread into my holes that are so dainty and endless I am obsessed with them. Then he did a double stack diamond piercing in the center. I am SUCH a baby when it comes to pain...I was so nervous before they gave me a nice silver can water and thankful for that because I was getting so worked up I prob could have passed out anyway it was (almost) PAINLESS, and coming from me that is a really big deal. It has been healing so well, I go back in 12 weeks for him to replace the backs of the earring and make sure everything is perfect. It was such a nice touch that they provided water and a small bottle of cleaner that he recommends washing with once daily. Honestly I love the way my ear looks now and it feels so special that Brian pierced it for me and I cannot wait to go back and see him in 12 weeks!! I would give 10 stars if I could. Also, everyone was saying it would be hard to sleep on the ear I got pierced and I def avoided it for a few nights but Brain does such a good job and is so magically I seriously feel super healed and can even sleep on my side- such a relief! We got pierced during the pandemic. The studio is super nice and very clean, spotless. During our time there I saw every staff member help to clean and I love how they seemed like such a family/team. You need an appointment so make sure you don't just expect to get pierced as a walk-in especially during COVID. The door was locked outside, we almost panicked because we thought they were closed, it was 6:30 but I called and they ran right down to open in- another plus during COVID to avoid walk-ins and make it more exclusive. I had a really positive experience with Brian & his staff. The booking process was straightforward. I was able to request an appointment on Sunday and come in the next day. The shop is clean and beautifully decorated with vintage furniture. Brian is a consummate professional. I have many tattoos, so I have experienced many shops, but this is the first time I have met a piercing/tattoo artist who wears a perfectly tailored suit to do the job! Going to Body Electric is not *just* a shop but rather an *experience*. I came here because I had researched the shop ahead of time, saw Brian's Instagram account, and liked his piercing work. It is a curated experience - I trusted him 100% because he has seen a lot of ears! It's clear that he pierces you and picks jewelry based on the shape of your ears and not just generically. I want to address those that have written: 1) the shop is too expensive; 2) the staff is rude, and it's hard to book. First off, if you've never experienced a high-end piercing/tattoo shop, you might be confused that you can't just walk in and get a cheap piercing in a few minutes. The reason to come here is that you want the full treatment. You want a curated experience. Would you walk into a Mercedes dealership and expect to walk away with a Honda? If you want something done cheap and fast, then there are tooonnnsss of piercers in the city that can do that - but you have to do your research beforehand. Again, you haven't done your research for those who think waiting for an hour on the same day is too long. If you read the information on their website, it says you can call or fill out the form. They will get back to you with information about booking. This is NOT unusual for a high-end shop because you are there for a specific experience. If you don't want to wait, there are tooonnnsss of piercers in the city who can take you in a few minutes. You wouldn't walk in off the street and get a haircut from a well-known hair stylist the same day or a facial from a fancy spa, right? And, I think some people may think the staff is rude if you're not looking up the booking information. If I worked in a shop that had explicit instructions on how to book, and this was not followed, I would be annoyed, too. But, this is NOT unusual for a high-end shop. You need to follow instructions because they are there for a reason. To weed out those that book and don't show or waste the piercers/tattoo artist's time by coming late. It is all about knowing your expectations ahead of time. So, if you want a clean, beautiful, well-curated experience where you aren't rushed with Brian, this is the place for you. From the beginning of emailing to the end of the service itself, the staff and Brian were on top of it and were extremely accommodating and COVID-safe in every protocol when I came in for my service. I for one love when an artist has the potential to do their thing when it comes to their artistry. That's why from the moment I met with Brian I let him do whatever his heart desired to my ear lobes. Its been almost a week since my roommate and I went in for our custom constellation piercings from Brian. Everything is healing great and I can't WAIT to go back to get my other ear done! Brian was hilarious and charming and completely distracted me from my anxiety! Even though I have other piercings he still went over aftercare (which I appreciated) and even provided supplies. Was it cheap? No. But you get what you pay for and I LOVE everything from the placement to the pieces of jewelry he chose. This is not the place to go to if you want cheap, basic piercings... If that's what you are looking for don't bother coming here and don't leave a negative review over this place not being what you wanted... there are a million crappy piercing places... go there... lol To the people complaining he wouldn't pierce them where they wanted; he is an artist and no artist is obligated to do as you say. Had an appt scheduled with Brian for piercing but unfortunately, he cancelled as he injured his back. The staff gave me a couple options to reschedule with Brian or book with Dom, who trained with Brian for over 6 years. I chose Dom because I was excited to get it done and didn't want to wait! It was pretty busy but Dom managed to handle each client with patience and professionalism. The process can take a bit of time as you decide from a selection of very nice earrings...from size to type and what will look good for the particular area. I am really pleased with Dom's recommendation and knowledge of where to place the earring. I absolutely love it!!! And the easy part was the piercing...barely felt it. As a side note the front staff was great too and did a nice job of explaining the process over the phone and booking my appt. Was inspired and made an appt with Brian for multiple piercings yesterday on a whim. I came in with a couple ideas but after researching him online knew I needed to ultimately trust his instincts on where to be pierced. I knew I wanted to do one ear at a time (for obvious being able to sleep on one side of my head purposes) but he helped plan out both sides so that they will eventually complement each other.
