It was fairly easy to navigate their website and Apple Pay was available at check out. My order was ready within minutes. The Los Gatos location was clean and associates were polite. My meal was pretty good, I'll be ordering again. They tend to put A LOT of cream cheese, luckily there's an option for light spread. The everything bagel fit in the palm of my hand. I enjoyed how my bagel was heated but not hard when biting. I order vanilla as a sweetener for my matcha. It canceled the green taste and wasn't too sweet. Boichik has been on my list to try for a while. Today I finally tried them. Sadly, it wasn't bagel nirvana. I've been buying their frozen bagels for a while now, so I knew what to anticipate with regards to taste and texture. My expectation was that, if the bagels are pretty good frozen from a bag, then they should be great fresh from the shop. I was hoping for the skies to open and angels to sing as I basked in the glory of a highly-praised Boichik bagel. Nope. It was not that way at all. I went with an everything bagel toasted with cream cheese. The bagel came to me barely toasted. Maybe lukewarm with nary a hint of golden toastiness that one would expect when ordering a toasted bagel. I ate it anyway. If you like a toasted bagel, tell them extra toasted for that golden glow and warm interior. They were generous with the cream cheese, which had a good taste. But the bagels itself tasted no different than one that came frozen from a bag. I ate it anyway because it tasted good enough. Maybe they just serve the frozen bagels and don't make them fresh in-house? Because that is 100% what it tasted like. Mystery. Another gripe is that they didn't have much of a variety of cream cheese flavors. Maybe this is "New York style" to not offer more than a couple of basics? As for ambiance, the inside offers seating but I had to clean the tabletop of crumbs and food bits. Inside isn't very welcoming. It's as though they offer seating inside but don't really want you to sit there. There is better seating outside. Service was as bare bones as it comes. Give order at counter, pick up order at another counter when they call your name. Service seemed robotic. When there were no customers to tend to, staff chatted amongst themselves about non-work things while tabletops sat dirty. Parking is a bit of a bother as it's a small lot shared with lots of shops and a Trader Joe's. This wasn't the holy grail of bagel shops as I had hoped it would be. I'll save myself the bother and buy the frozen Boichik bagels from the grocery store (when they're on sale for $12/bag for the best deal). read more

Hmmm. I was excited to try this place finally but I won't be a repeat customer. The customer service was very NY, if that's what they're going for? The guy taking orders and questions at times from customers had a idgaf attitude. I felt like I was annoying the cashier with my purchase. I'm so glad I gave Boichik another chance! This was my first visit to this location and the experience was awesome! I was immediately greeted with a smile by the young lady working in the morning. Eats: *Daily Special Egg Salad with avocado, cucumber, tomato, red onion on Garlic bagel *Tuna Salad on Everything bagel *Sesame bagel with Apple Ginger Pumpkin Spice CC I also got a Guava Cold Brew Iced Tea, flavor changes daily. Soo refreshing and lightly sweetened. I learned from the past that New Yorkers don't toast their bagels so I made sure to ask for mine toasted. They're also thicker than California bagels. Boichik bagels has a cute shop in Los Gatos near the Trader Joe's. The service is friendly and somewhat efficient. They basically only do one thing and they do it pretty well. They have a limited selection of bagels and an even smaller selection of drinks. We got the hat trick bagel sandwich on an everything bagel. It was very tasty and well prepared/seasoned. The bagel itself was delicious with a wonderful chewy texture. It was $18 but it came with a generous amount of lox and avocado. read more

Boichik Bagels has gotten a lot of media coverage, so I was very excited to try it out! I got the classic lox bagel on pumpernickel. They load up on the cream cheese, which is more cream- than cheese-leaning. It's right off of 17 so it's a great place to pick something up for a hike along the coast. Service was very fast and straightforward. Not a super big fan of tomato in my lox bagels and the bagel was a little dense for my liking, rather than chewy or pillowy. I keep giving this place a try today. There were two older gentlemen working one the same guy that's always rude and slams things around took my order & made my food this was around 11:30. I got a Lock sandwich with avocado extra cucumbers unfortunately I headed off to work luckily for me I work in the medical Center right nearby. I came back. The older bald gentleman spoke to me and I told him that this wasn't what I ordered and basically I wasted my entire lunch dealing with this. There was no locks, and there was no avocado on the sandwich they let me keep the old sandwich and made me a new sandwich and apologized. read more

I stopped by the plaza for a personal appointment. It's been a while in the area, so I was surprised to find Boichik bagels in place of the former Vietnamese restaurant that was there. Not knocking on the previous establishment, which I did like a lot, but your girl loves a good sandwich. I stopped by the bagel shop around 12pm on a Friday. The place wasn't busy at all, so I received immediate and quick service by the friendly staff members. I would've opted for "The Classic," but the daily special looked fun. It consisted of Boichik Bagels' pink label cream cheese, deli egg salad, sprouts, cucumber, and tomatoes. First thing I noted was how big the sandwich was. It was stuffed with all the fixings and brimming from the egg salad and cream cheese. The everything bagel was nicely seasoned, and I enjoyed getting bursts of salt. The ingredients tasted fresh. Standard egg salad, but the cream cheese was delightfully light and creamy. I'll definitely be back to try a daily special, and I'm looking forward to trying their other spreads especially with that impressive quality of the pink label cream cheese. read more

Closest thing I've had to a NY bagel at home!! The bagels are so fluffy, filling with simple ingredients and spreads that are done really well. I ordered the classic (lox, capers, red onions, schmear) on an egg bagel and it was the perfect breakfast. Inside is cute and the delicious smell of fresh bagels hits you right away. The line wasn't too long for a Saturday morning, and there's a shared paring lot with Trader Joe's and the other plaza stores, making it convenient. I'd definitely recommend eating them fresh, but they also pack orders nicely to-go if you're in a rush. Can't wait to come back! read more

Came to check this place out on a Sunday morning. Boichik is located in the same parking lot as Trader Joe's. They have some seating indoors and chairs and tables outside as well. Parking was a breeze. There was a line out the door, but the employees were really efficient and things moved quickly. They have a variety of bagels and cream cheese options with fresh veggie toppings. A regular bagel with plain cream cheese will cost you about $5. The bagels were pretty big and had great flavor. Quick service, I think I waited around 2-3 minutes for my 2 bagels (sesame and cinnamon raisin) and iced tea! This is the 2nd Boichik location I've tried so far, the other being in SF. Personally the bagel I had at the SF location was a lot more impressive and more fluffy than the one I had here! Parking was a little packed but it was lunch time so I digress! Almost no line but people trickled in right behind me - the cashier seemed friendly as well. Overall average service experience! Also as an avid chocolate chip bagel fan they just don't have the same selection as I could get at Noahs down the street or another local coffee shop so thats the biggest con for me :( read more

I planned to order a dozen bagels ahead of time for an early work event, however the earliest you can place an order for pickup on DoorDash was at 7:30am, while the they open at 7am.. and they don't bake the bagels in-house... So I came a few minutes before they opened to ensure I could order/pick up the bagels as soon at they opened and be on my way. I was the first customer, but was not served until 2 people after me.. Their orders required making sandwiches and additional cream cheese. I only ordered a dozen bagels.. I was frustrated that I was not served first as I was literally the first person there. The service staff apologized since I was the only one left, but there was no communication prior about any mistakes or reasons as to why I was not served first. The 'bakery' is small and they do not take cash. There is a lot of open seating outside. The bagels are pretty expensive.. ~$40 for a dozen. The flavors and quality of the bagels do not really stand out to me, other than the Everything and Pumperthingle bagels were super salty. A little overrated in my opinion.. I only came because they had vegan cream cheese options, but of course they didn't have it, so I ended up picking some up at Trader Joe's. read more

I really want to like this place but not only are the bagels quite expensive but also they constantly run out of egg bagels. I tried ordering some at 7:42am and they were already out of them. They never have enough and don't seem to adjust their ordering. I wish they had eggs so you could get breakfast sandwiches and I find their selection of bagels to be limiting. Boichik has been on quite the expansion tear lately and this location in Los Gatos is pretty good. It's fairly spacious (way better than Palo Alto), with both seating inside and right outside in a little courtyard area in the shopping center. The staff are friendly and I've never had a very long wait and I've come exclusively on weekends, when one might expect it to be busiest. The bagels themselves are great. Great texture, and some fun flavors that aren't available everywhere. I usually opt for just a bagel with cream cheese and they really load up the cream cheese. They have a seasonal cream cheese that changes maybe quarterly - I'm liking the current green garlic one a lot. They have vegan cream cheese options, which I was excited about, but they just use Kite Hill brand cream cheese which is not my favorite. My main issue here is that they don't make the bagels in the store itself. So if they run out, they're out. I've had a few times where my first choice bagel isn't an option. I came the day before Easter and they had barely any bagels left! I guess this model is what is allowing them to open all these locations, but you can't always count on getting exactly what you want if you don't come early. read more

Fairly simple menu for a bagel shop -- pick your bagel (~16 options), add optional cream cheese spread, and then add optional toppings (like lox). It would be more efficient if they had large overhead menus so folks in line can look at the menu ahead of time. It definitely significantly slowed down the ordering wait because people didn't know what to order until they got to the cashier. Also the display of bagels was hidden in the back, so you don't get to see the bagel you're ordering -- sometimes visual cues change people's mind. They also have packs of frozen bagels and merch that you could purchase. After ordering, it definitely took a good while for people's orders to come out. They seemed to be making orders sequentially one by one with no parallelism, so if someone ordered 6 bagels, you had wait 6x as long as if someone ordered one -- basically their bagel line could've been way more efficient. Good amount of seating inside, clean and modern decor. The bagel was definitely hefty in size and you are given a generous amount of spread too. The bagel was a tad overtoasted imo, but I still enjoyed it. It was definitely filling and enjoyable for $5 (bagel plus spread). I'd definitely come back when I wanted some bagels for a good portion size, but I hope they can work through their inefficiencies. This was definitely by far, the slowest bagel shop I have been to - both comparing here and in NY - for the size of the crowd and number of employees that were working for 8am in the morning. read more

I'm so happy Boichik Bagels finally made it to Los Gatos! The space is clean, though a bit small inside, but that doesn't take away from the experience. Their bagels are the perfect reminder of the East Coast--true to form, with the perfect bite and some of the best cream cheese options around. Staff is always amazing, smiling and pleasant to interact with! Always enjoyable coming in. Compared to the Palo Alto location, where parking can be a challenge due to the busy shopping center, this spot feels much more accessible. It's my go-to for a mid-day pick-me-up and a taste of my East Coast roots. If you love a classic, well-made bagel, this place is a must-visit! read more

After reading The NY Times feature on Boichik Bagels, I was eager to try the new LG location. Even though I didn't park that close to the store, I could smell an aroma of fresh bagels from the parking lot. Although the store just opened (yesterday?), there was already a good amount of foot traffic. Ambiance was lively between happy customers and upbeat music. Service was okay...definitely not excellent. A simple "welcome" and "thank you" would go a long way. It would also be really nice to see bagels displayed more easily up front like other bagel shops do. And finally...the food...pumpkenickel was fabulous. Would definitely get again. read more

My child asked Tim G a simple question: that he clearly felt was stupid-instead of being gracious and polite he was rude and obnoxious. He lacks the very basic semblance of politeness that is needed in a customer service job. I witnessed him carry this same vibe with the customer after me. In addition the carelessness of how my order was packaged is on par with the terrible customer service provided. I ordered 4 bagels: 3 the same one was different. The bagels on the outside were labeled as the following: 1, 2, 3, 1. The bagels that was different was the one labeled 2. I expected more from a place in Los Gatos. I never leave reviews, but my experience has been so odd that I made a yelp account specifically for this place. I come in relatively often and overall the bagels are great and so is the service except for one employee. A young man who according to my receipts is named Jesse, has consistently given some of the worst service I have ever received. At first I assumed he was just having a bad day (It happens to the best of us! I used to work restaurants, I get it.) but every single time he has been the one at the registar he has been cold and rude. Where other employees (often one of three young ladies or an older man) are always welcoming and kind, he sighs loudly when I or anyone after me comes in, gives short, cold responses while rolling his eyes, and slams equipment behind the glass while making orders. It's a shame because the other people working are always so nice and I love the bagels and the newly added matcha latte, but I have reached a point where if I see that particular employee at the counter before I come in I consider going somewhere else. read more

I came here and got a "The Classic", which is cream cheese, lox, tomatoes, red onion, and caper. It was $16 before tax, so call it nearly $20 out the door. Ouch. Anyway, getting into the bagel, three things stood out. First, for a lot of my life, I didn't like bagels. Why? Because they are doughy, squishy, and too thick. This is that type of bagel. If you get the chance to go to NYC, the bagels are better. They don't give me that "I made a sandwich with two slices of bread on the top and bottom" vibe. I don't think it's the water, I think it's the fact that people on the west coast take less care when making them. So the bagel wasn't amazing. Second, while I like cream cheese, I don't love it to the point of eating it by the spoon. If you like eating spoonfuls of cream then this place is for you. This was like cream cheese with a side of a bagel. It was so overstuffed, they should have wrapped this like a burrito as every bite caused the stuffing to ooze out the sides. If you happen to have a beard, you're going to need wet wipes, napkins won't suffice. Finally, I know restaurants need to make a profit, but man they are stingy with the lox. Look, the point of a bagel with lox is the lox. Yes it's the most expensive ingredient, but it's also the reason I ordered this. If you order a burger, the meat is the most important part. If Boichik made a burger I guess they'd put 5 slices of cheese on a tiny pattie and call it a day. The amount of lox was very sad, and for nearly $20 just simply not worth it. Parking in this lot is touch and go. The store itself is cute and quiet, and there is some seating outdoors, that I think is maybe shared with the Baja Fresh next door. But there's plenty of seating inside as well. The first day we went we got four bagels with schmear for about 30$ so they are a little pricey. This morning I went again and got 2 with plain cream cheese (asked for toasted, but they did not toast them) and a coffee for 15$ The Poppy seed bagels are REALLY good. Like the best poppy seed bagels around. The other flavors I've tried are just sort of, on par with other, less expensive, options. Not bad, but not better either. The cream cheese can be gotten as plain or pink label, when we asked what the difference was we were told the pink label was tangy-er, but the normal is pretty tangy on its' own. A little too tangy IMO. So I am sort of scared to try the pink label. I've had Bagels all over the place, including from NYC and from the Fairfax, Boichik are okay, the best one so far is the poppy seed. I would go out of my way for their poppy seed, but that's about it. The coffee wasn't great and they only have 12 oz cups, it was drinkable, but probably would not buy it again, and for that price, it's not enough caffeine for me. They do not take cash, only cards. They do have some cute merch, even if their slogan is a little on the snotty side (there are plenty of great bagels in California, thanks) Their coffee wasn't worth the money. They do have a nice selection of Doc Brown's (including celery) The seasonal Cream Cheeses are hit and miss, The molasses spice one was good, but the spicy chili one (can't remember what it was called) was barely flavored (according to partner) They DO have Challah at the weekends, I haven't tried it yet, but IIRC it was ~12$ a loaf. They DO sell packages of bagels for take home in their freezer. Boichik Bagels 15466 Los Gatos Blvd, Ste 110, Los Gatos, CA 95032 is a chain out of Berkeley that is rapidly expanding. I have visited this location twice and found the quality of the lox, cream cheese, egg salad and other items to be absolutely outstanding! The employees that work there are very polite, kind, and really do an excellent job. The menu is limited as there are no meat products. Often, they put on so much creme cheese that I have to ask them to cut the portion in half. I always have to get them double toasted, as that's the only way to get it properly toasted. Now for the bagels-a typical California style huge bread ring that definitely has an East Coast taste. Each bagel is twice the size of a standard bagel but actually tastes excellent! I purchased a challah bread, which had a very good day old taste to it (I like my challah super fresh). This is a card only (no cash) store and has a few round rickety tables and metal chairs that are tough to sit and balance on. There is a great shared patio area outside, when the weather is nice. The restaurant is kept very clean. I read some of the other poor reviews, which seems to mirror my statements. However, employees here have been nothing but kind and helpful to me. I have specifically watched how they interacted with other customers-nothing but superior service! I do recommend this bagel place as it's pretty good, but not as good as other bagel places I've visited and reviewed.
