What a disappointing experience. I brought my parents (84-year-old mom and 92-year-old dad) to dinner at approximately 4:10 PM. The restaurant was nearly empty -- maybe 3-4 parties total. We were initially told by an employee to sit anywhere, then immediately afterward told we needed to sign in and wait. Confusing, but okay -- we signed in around 4:15 PM. Then we waited...and waited...in a mostly empty restaurant. I politely asked multiple times whether we could place an order. One waitress responded, "Sorry, I just got here," which did nothing to address the situation or explain the process. What became frustrating was watching a party of 10 get seated while several members of their group arrived later. We were told, while pointing to that group, "they were here first." Only 2 of the 8 were present when we arrived. Maybe they technically checked in first -- but from a customer perspective, when a nearly empty restaurant leaves elderly guests waiting without explanation while accommodating a large incomplete party, it feels dismissive and poorly managed. We left, utterly dissapointed. This isn't about getting special treatment. It's about basic hospitality, communication, and situational awareness. Recommendation to management: * Train staff on guest communication and ownership ("I just got here" is not a customer-facing solution). * Establish and consistently explain seating policies. * Empower hosts to use judgment for elderly guests and small parties when capacity clearly exists. * Review camera footage from approximately 4:10-4:45 PM to evaluate queue handling, staff coordination, and whether customer experience matched intended policy. There's a large parking lot with plenty of spots. Ambiance/Environment: I really like this location because it's very spacious, unlike the GG location. They have a decent amount of indoor seating. No outdoor seating. All tables and chairs were clean. We visited during early dinner hours on a weekday, so it wasn't busy at all. More foot traffic came around 17:00-19:00. Service: Shout out to our server Jewel! She's attentive and courteous. She checked on us multiple times and refilled our waters. Throughput was also quick after ordering. Food: My go-to is the House Special or Beef. I decided to go with the Beef, mild, and rice. It came with a generous amount of protein, vegetables, and toppings. I also got rice in the side. Noodles and ramen cost extra. The soup base was very tasty with a nice kick to it. They also offered some specials like 50% off milk teas and happy hour during specific hours. I love boiling point! I came here quite often and stacked up a lot of reward points but I honestly have not come in so long. I think it's bc I can go to Broth Shabu down the street for roughly the same price and get ayce. Before you come for me, I know that one is Taiwanese and the other is japanese, so I'm aware they're diff cuisines but to me if I'm craving for a good soup/meal, I always consider quality and bang for buck. However, I came on my birthday because they offer a free small pot + drink for guests dining in. All you need to do is show proof with valid ID and it has to be redeemed on your actual birthday. My normal go-to is the #8 Taiwanese spicy! it's a large spicy pot with ramen noodles and lots of protein (beef, pork, and some seafood). But for birthdays, only small pots are included, so I opted for the #4 beef pot. This is a very popular choice, however it was my 1st time having it. Unlike the taiwanese, the beef pot allows you to choose your spice level- I chose mild (I was recovering from a stomach bug, so I wanted to play it safe) The beef pot is very similar to the taiwanese pot imo. It has vermicelli noodles, sliced beef, fish cakes, pork ball, and some seafood. The mild spice had a little kick but nothing too crazy. It also comes with a side of noodles or rice, I just rice. I honestly thought the small size wasn't going to be enough but I ended up not even finishing it and had the rest taken home. For my drink, I was recommended the assam black tea by my server. I very much enjoyed it! There was just the right amount of sweetness to it but you can also customize how sweet you want it too. My Asian parents love coming here for special events!! I got the # 6 Milk Cream Curry Hot Soup with a mild spice level. The soup is served with a fire underneath, but you can ask if you want the fire turned off anytime. The soup was not too spicy, and it tasted great! It's been sooooo long since I've had BP. I always go to Ranch but didn't know this was even here. We went to eat on a Sunday around 7:30pm. No online waitlist so you just write your name and party size on the clipboard. It took us about 20 mins to get seated. Come early to skip the line, or grab boba nearby because it could take a while. There was a new flavor that came out. Talked to the waitress about it, tried it, and didn't like it. It's the green pepper one where it's ma la spicy. I hate that taste. I didn't ask to switch it out or anything, but what helped out was when the staff would come around and refill your broth. That helped dilute it and made it edible for me. The food was great as always and easily the highlight of the visit. Very rich, comforting, and exactly what you hope for from a spot like this. If I were rating food alone, it'd be a solid five stars. The vibes were mostly good, but toward the end of the meal you could hear somebody changing the songs manually before the song ends and they were playing a bunch of very sad songs, which made the atmosphere feel a little awkward for a dining space. Service could use improvement. There wasn't much of an introduction, no greeting, no check-in about whether it was our first time, no explanation of the sauces on the table, and no questions about allergies. Those small details really matter and would elevate the experience a lot. Lastly, the bathroom was not in great shape and was out of toilet paper. My absolute go to restaurant for hot pot! I always go for the beef with a meat lover upgrade, as well as a side of spicy tangy beef. I love that there's a good mix of meat, vegetables, fish cakes, and noodles in the hot pot. Their spice levels are somewhat inconsistent each time you go, so I usually just opt for no spice and just add the chili oil myself. I love that when it's lunch hours, from 11am to 3pm, you can get a free green or black tea with each hot pot order. Otherwise, if I go for dinner, I get an amber oolong milk tea with boba. The milk tea itself is pretty light and creamy, which is perfect when paired with the beef hot pot. Service can be a hit or miss at this location. Lately, I've been going at night around 7 to 8 pm and this last visit took around 30 minutes before we got seated. There were at least 3 to 4 tables open around the 15 to 20 minute mark of waiting, but no server wanted to seat us just yet. I do appreciate that as soon as we got seated that a server asked us if we were ready to order. This time around, the food didn't take as long to come out-- maybe around less than 10 minutes. Sometimes, I personally have to flag down the servers for water refills or to turn off the fire for the hot pot. Other times, servers or trainees are consistently coming around to ask if anything is needed. I do wish that the service was a little more consistent, but coming from experience in the food industry, I understand that it can get busy at times. I love this hot pot place! It can get super busy and sometimes there's a long wait, but that's because the food is really good. I always come here whenever I'm craving beef hot pot. Last time I went, it was a bit annoying because there was this loud clanging from the back (like something keeps dropping), but the staff are still nice and helpful when you actually need something. Just a heads-up, it's listed as "pig oil rice" in Chinese, which gave us a laugh. It's rich and delicious, but definitely something I wouldn't indulge in too often. The iced tea included with the lunch sets is pre-made, so your only options are with or without sugar. My bowl had wood ear mushrooms that stayed tough the entire meal, which was a bit off this time. I've been to this location a few times already, hoping to give them good and fair chances, but unfortunately I cannot. The many times I've dined here with friends, we felt like we're not being served properly. If he was an employee there or if he was the one in charge since he was the only one not in uniform, then it seemed very unprofessional and we felt it was very rude and like he just dismissed us like he did not want to do any work, or could have at least told one of his colleagues that there was a customer requesting help. I want to point out that the trainee, despite him walking around the dining area on his own, amd it wad very busy that day, he did do his best to serve us and we appreciate all the help he had done for us and the customers around our seating area. We like spicy food. The challenge is always convincing the server that we want extra spicy. The standard answer we usually get is "you can use the chili oil on the table. It's the same." Unfortunately, it is not the same. Vincent, who took our order, not only didn't fight with us, he also delivered! Our food came out as we like it. That's called excellent customer service . Vincent! Boiling point's Taiwanese hot pot is one of my favorite versions of hot pot. Your broth of choice is served in your own personal wok with everything included as a complete dish. They have their own sauces on the table, which is great with all of the ingredients that you fish out of your "wok in a box". Unlike traditional shabu shabu, where you cook your meat in a bland broth, the flavors in this taiwanese hot pot are concentrated. There are a variety of options that they have here. I tend to like to go with their "beef" flavor, which has beef in spicy broth amongst seafood, tofu, and veggies. While my wife likes to go with "miso", she went today with "milk cream curry" and she really enjoyed that on this cold night. I appreciate that the flavors of each broth are very unique. While my beef broth was beefy and spicy (as I chose it as "medium spicy"), my wife's milk cream curry flavor reminded me of a Malay-type curry flavor. Waits can be pretty long at prime dinner time- we waited about 45-55 minutes before we were seated. Service isn't very attentive and it's the primary reason that the yelp average is around 3.5 stars.
