Food: Grabbed a modest amount of fixings (i.e., veggies, seafood, meats, etc.) for my soup, which totaled out to be ~$13. Not too shabby. Opted for the beef bone broth; however, there was a taste/smell to it, reminiscent of lamb (I only got beef), which was unexpected and a bit off-putting for me. Service: Decent. While it isn't a standard sit-down restaurant, be prepared to be charged a gratuity for a party of six or more. Ambiance: Casual. Pretty spacious and clean, including the ingredient + sauce bar. Parking: Ample parking, but located in a relatively busy/high-traffic plaza, so parking could take a minute, during peak hours.

YGF is a hit or miss sometimes depending on the location, but this one is always a hit! Service is quick, it's a large and spacious restaurant with many tables, and there is a ton of variety of toppings and sauces. My favorite toppings aside from the beef belly include the money bags, quail eggs, cheese tofu, and enoki mushrooms. There is always something for everyone's taste! I always go with the beef bone broth with mild/medium spice depending on how I am feeling. The broth is rich but not too overwhelming. I also like that they have a stamp card here where you get "stamps" for however many lbs your soups are. I always get enough to bring some home to-go because it tastes just as good the next day!

I used to make the drive to Rowland for malatang, but YGF in Artesia absolutely has become my fav malatang spot near me!! So far, I have tried the beef soup base, tomato soup base, and the dry pot mix and they all hit so hard! My favorite soup base is still the beef one, but the dry mix is also so good! YGF has perfected the level of spice, as I don't get so much numbing spice that is overwhelm the flavor of the soup base. I like the broth is super flavorful already and not as bland as Yingtang! They have a great selections of toppings here! They even have the scallop ball that I used to only get at Yingtang! Be careful though, they have meat and good stuff at the end, so don't stack your bowl just yet at the beginning. It's $15.99/lb, which is pretty average compared to other spots. The service here is amazing! Staff is super friendly and attentive, from checking up on you to refilling your water. A+ service with lots of seatings, so you don't have to worry abt waiting in line for long. The space is huge with bright lights and bustling atmosphere!!

Malatang was decent but way overpriced in my opinion. For the price we paid, we might as well have gone to an AYCE hot pot or kbbq for similar or cheaper price but it was nice to try YGF in the states. Veggies were also not that fresh.

YGF in Artesia is the GOAT. Even with so many malatang spots this one is so good. There is rarely a wait and I think the price is extremely reasonable. I also like that the minimum is 0.8 pounds unlike 1 pound at other places (I got away with 0.77lbs!). The beef broth is sooo good and spicy. Be careful though the medium is pretty spicy. The choices are nearly unlimited like theres no way you won't find something you like. The restaurant is very big and in a good location.

The perfect meal after a long day, no matter the weather! They have a really good selection of mix ins that are all good quality and the broth is perfectly seasoned! The service is very good as they offered to refill our waters constantly and there is lots of spice and tables. The vibes here are very cozy and casual

Best way to describe this is your own personal hot pot. You pick different things to go into your soup (meats, veggie, dumplings, and noodles and other things) and then you pick your broth. Be careful with adding things to your bowl because it's weighed by the pound. Service was great and the inside is clean.

Walked in on a Friday night and waited for about 10 min which wasn't so bad. You pick a bowl and add as many ingredients you want and you pay by the weight. I ended up getting 1 lb including the meat and veggies, sweet potato vermicelli with mild spicy beef herbal broth. The broth was not as tasty as I was expecting it to be. It was extremely oily and it had a weird taste and smell to the whole dish overall. We ordered the skewers as well and we weren't sure if it was pork or chicken but the outer layer looked cooked but the inside didn't taste like it and it was extremely chewy. We did not enjoy this food sadly. The sauce bar was also limited and wasn't well cleaned.

The tom yum and curry broths were both good. The service was great even when they were busy. However, we did notice that the broth was a bit grainy once it cooled a bit. Not the biggest fan of that, but the overall flavors were great! The place itself was very busy, so that was the overall vibe of the place. Keep in mind it's ~$16 per lb. The food is very filling and I love having a lot of options!

The weather has been cold late at night so was in the mood for soup. As you enter, you grab a bowl and tongs and fill it up with anything you please. The items range from seafood to veggies to meats and noodles. Once you're done filling your bowl, you then weigh it and choose a soup flavor and let the cashier know how spicy you want. In exchange, they give you a number so that they can bring it to your table afterwards. They also have a self serve sauce bar. You're able to make your own concoction of sauces and garnishes so you can dip your fillings from your bowl. I love the fact it's simple and quick and easy. I ended up getting the beef bone broth in mild spice and it satisfied my craving. I wouldn't mind coming back to try the other soup bases.

One of my fav malatang spots with a good amount of options. They do have a 1 lb minimum like most places though so I would recommend sharing with someone if you aren't too hungry. Also this plaza is usually super busy and packed in my experience so I would recommend carpooling if possible I always get the classic beef bone broth with medium spice. This is usually perfect for me, but I did notice the dry beef bone broth at medium was a lot spicier than the soup version

Love!!! It!!!! Here!!!!! There's a YGF closer to where I live but this one is honestly way better. The wait times are a hit or miss. Sometimes you'll get seated right away even on evenings or weekends but other times you'll be waiting for 40+ minutes. My go to is the classic bone broth SO delicious and tasty but I'd love to try other ones in the future. They have a wide variety of vegetables and different toppings as well. Their food is seriously amazing- only reason for my 4 stars is because their water is a little funky. I'd recommend ordering a different drink!

    Julie N.

First time trying malatang When you come in theres a buffet to grab ingredients for your soup You have to get a table first before doing that Lots of ingredients The meat tasted kind of freezer burned so skip that and just load up on seafood Lots of seafood like shrimp squid scallops Theres a variety of fish balls I got the tom yum spicy broth which was delicious Takes awhile to get your foood cooked though - like 20 minutes The sauce bar was kind of messy but had a lot of ingredients to make the perfect sauce Parking is terrible in this plaza esp on a friday night They accept cc I would go back though but maybe when its not peak dinner time

The Seafood Noodles had a nice flavor to the broth; however, I ordered it with egg noodles, which I would have preferred to be a bit more al dente. We were craving some warm pho on a cold night, and Soup Shop sounded like the perfect spot. The plaza Soup Shop is located in is usually super crowded, but if you go after 9pm when most of the other restaurants and shops are closed, you'll find plenty of parking. Write your name down on the waiting list at the front podium and then wait for your name to be called. They have a few seats to wait right outside the door. Once we were seated, we were given menus. I really like that their menu has a lot of large photos of the dishes, so you know what you're getting! Once we ordered, the food came out pretty quickly despite being busy. For appetizers, we ordered the Crunchy Pork "Bao" since it sounded unique. Inside the bao is pork shoulder, mushroom, Vietnamese sausage, and quail egg. The outside has a thin, perfectly crispy layer that gives a nice little crunch when you bite into it. Really enjoyed these and would recommend! We also got the Crusted Parmesan Cauliflower. Not sure what's in the sauce, but it's sweet, tangy, and delicious! It's also topped with fried onion, cilantro, cucumber, and parmesan cheese. Also a winner! For entrees, we got the Chicken Pho and the Pho Ribeye. For the chicken Pho, you can get it with thigh or breast meat. I got it with breast meat, and they gave a good amount of meat! A little dry, but I appreciated that it was nice and lean. The flavor of the soup is really good. Pho Ribeye was also tasty! Hit the spot.

June 2026 Updated review:…read more Bowls have been dumbed down by 40%. Less meat, more noodles, less broth and less veggie amenities. Truly disappointing since they upped the prices as well. So you're paying more for less good food. I would hope they read my reviews and go back to how they served big bowls of yummy pho with great ingredients. I know food is expensive but they've already increased their prices to offshoot current inflation. SO GO BACK TO HOW YOU USED TO SERVE PHO.

I absolutely loved the crispy bottom layer because it added such a satisfying crunch to every bite. The inside stayed really juicy and flavorful with a good balance of pork, shrimp, and chives. The Juicy Pork Dumplings had soup inside, which was rich and savory. I've had soup dumplings before where the wrapper breaks apart too easily, but these held together nicely while still staying soft and delicate. The Wonton in Spicy Sauce was my personal favorite from the entire meal. The spicy sauce flavor was savory with a little sweetness. I'm typically not good with spice, so this is at a spice level that should be very manageable for everyone. I absolutely loved the spicy sauce, so I started putting it on everything. Definitely put the sauce on the chicken fried rice! The Chicken Fried Rice was a great dish to pair with everything else that we ordered. With several orders of entrees, a solid rice dish is a must order for any Chinese meal. The rice had a nice savory flavor that I enjoyed, and there was a generous amount of chicken mixed throughout the dish. I even asked the waitress if they do anything special with the fried rice because it tasted better than many other restaurants. It felt comforting and balanced compared to some of the heavier dishes. The Dry Fried String Beans were cooked perfectly with a slight crispness while still being tender. The garlic and seasoning gave them so much flavor that it honestly didn't even feel like I was eating vegetables. I do have to note that these were very much on the salty side, so if you don't like foods that are too salty, I would choose a different dish. The Orange Chicken was really crispy and juicy, which I appreciated because soggy orange chicken is always disappointing to me. The sauce had a nice citrus flavor while still keeping that classic sweet savory taste. The Spring Rolls were simple with vegetable filling on the inside with a crispy outside. I would try a different appetizer next time. The Kung Pao Shrimp was packed with flavor and had a really satisfying combination of textures. The shrimp were tender, and the peanuts added a great crunch to the dish. I thought the sauce had a really nice balance of spice and savoriness without becoming overwhelming. Another dish I really enjoyed was the Beef Roll Pancake. The pancake itself was nice and chewy throughout each bite. The sliced beef with green onions and sauce all wrapped together made every bite really flavorful and satisfying. For drinks, I ordered the Jasmine Milk Tea with Boba. I really liked that the jasmine tea flavor was noticeable instead of being overly sweet like some milk teas can be. The boba had a soft chewy texture, and the drink itself paired perfectly with the spicy and savory dishes from the meal. Staff: All of the staff members were quick and friendly Ambiance: Indoor seating only. A good amount of parking in the parking lot that is shared with other shops in the plaza.
