My partner and I have been a loyal customer of this store since she moved to Cerritos in August. We frequent this location often during the day, and have filled 3 customer loyalty cards. First you grab a large plastic bowl and add whatever items you want from the buffet. They have a huge variety of vegetables, herbs, meats, tofu, roots, fish balls, seafood, noodles, and authentic Chinese toppings to select from. Then, you bring it to the counter where they weigh your bowl and you select your broth. Since it was my first time there, I opted for the classic herbal beef bone broth (their signature) with a mild level of spice. They give you a number, and you sit at whatever table you wish. While you wait, you can get some sauces from their sauce bar and you pay at the end after your meal. The food came out super fast and piping hot! I loved the authentic Chinese flavors and the amount of spice was just right. I'm glad I got mild because it wasn't too spicy although I could have handled a notch up. YGF has perfected the level of spice, as I don't get so much numbing spice that is overwhelm the flavor of the soup base. I like the broth is super flavorful already and not as bland as Yingtang! They have a great selections of toppings here! They even have the scallop ball that I used to only get at Yingtang! Be careful though, they have meat and good stuff at the end, so don't stack your bowl just yet at the beginning. It's $15.99/lb, which is pretty average compared to other spots. YGF in Artesia is the GOAT. Even with so many malatang spots this one is so good. There is rarely a wait and I think the price is extremely reasonable. I also like that the minimum is 0.8 pounds unlike 1 pound at other places (I got away with 0.77lbs!). The beef broth is sooo good and spicy. Be careful though the medium is pretty spicy. We brought 20 lbs worth of free coupon cards and she collected like 7 of our accumulated stamp cards but decided to put her ipad down on top of a credit card we left on the table to charge us without our consent. She explained nothing about the stamp cards and whispered everything and totally charged us without consent. She said that we could only have 1 lb free because she combined our checks but never asked if we wanted separate checks. We went to the front to ask the manager to split the checks so that we could apply our free lbs and he complained that it was a lot of paperwork and the girl who charged our card gave us so much attitude. Tom Yum 4.) sweet and sour tomato 5.) Curry 6.) Spicy dry pot. You get a big bowl and pick whatever ingredients they have on the counter. It's $14.99 a lb so be careful, the bill can get hefty but you get a whole lot of soup and food. Enough for 2 people or leftovers. After you picked your ingredients such as seafood, vegetables, meat, etc. They weigh your bowl and pick your soup base. I can only tolerate mild spicy so went with the extra mild beef bone soup. They have a sauce station for you to make your dipping sauce. I start of with Vinegar base, soy sauce, Sacha sauce, little sesame sauce and sesame oil and a whole lot of garlic, green onions and cilantro. Average bowl is around 1.5 lbs, $20. You grab a bowl and tongs the work your way to the food bar- they had so many selections and it was hard to just grab a few so it doesn't go over in price because you have to weigh your bowl. You pick what flavor soup you'd like to have them cooked in- my son and I went with the Beef House style soup & daughter went for hr curry flavored. My daughter's noodle bowl was very flavorful. I think my son and I over filled our bowls and the beef flavored broth fell short. It had little to no flavor - all we felt was the numbing sensation on our tongue due to the Szechuan pepper. I have been here over 6 times and the most I have ever paid was 22.00 and given the fact that you get to choose your own ingredients I say 22.00 is about right. It's become one of my favorites as I love that their spicy herbal beef broth has the perfect ratio of numbing spices. You get flavor without it being overwhelmingly numbing or spicy. I love that you can self-serve and weigh what you want in your hot pot. If you get a conservative amount of food, it will still be very filling in your soup. I also love their sauce bar, that you can load with delicious aromatics and flavors. I feel like I can get a filling hot pot meal with quality comparable to luxury hot pot chains like Haidilao, but you get great value as you don't get the same over-the-top service. My wife does prefer the over-the-top service of a luxury, top tier hot pot spot; however, I feel that if I can get a meal like this for under $35 for two people (about half to one-third of the cost of said restaurants), then what's not to like? read more
