I have a love and mild annoyed relationship with Boiling Point. There's so many things that I love about it which makes me come back often but the whole front desk check in system and the wait is bad enough to be annoying. There's never anyone to greet you so you just check in yourself on the pad. You get a text and then you just wait until you get a text message that your table is ready. When you do get the text and you go up to the counter, no one usually there and you just pretty much stand there awkwardly until someone acknowledges you to verify you and then finally to seat you. Okay now on to the good parts! The food is great for the price! I love the lunch special that it comes with a sweet black or green tea. Usually its too sweet for me so a pro tip: don't drink it and take it home to add some milk to it. It makes it a little less sweet and makes it a nice creamy milk tea instead! I generally get the house special because it has a few of my favorite ingredients: quail egg, tofu, and blood pudding. They keep the fire burning underneath so your hotpot stays hot. They will also come around with a kettle to top off your broth if you like. If you're dining with a kiddo, they'll bring a free bowl of broth with udon noodles for them. I actually feel this place is fairly kid friendly! Lastly, BP has the best birthday meal offer hands down. No gimmicks and you just show your ID. You come and eat on your birthday and you get a free hot pot. I've been making it our birthday tradition for both me and the hubby since the birthday deal started and its been awesome! lots of waiting here. one hour for seating and then our waiter (who was in training) lost our order and never put it in, so we waited nearly an hour for our food. the overall vibe was busy as always. i chalked it up to understaffing as it seemed like servers were scarce and nowhere to be seen in general, but i didn't realize our orders never got put in ian rushed our order when he realized what happened and gave us a discount which was nice, but i really wouldve rather just gotten our food on time. the food itself was pretty good, i enjoyed my japanese miso a lot, especially the broth. however there wasn't quite enough wax in the burner so our soup wasn't really boiling and the cabbage wasn't cooking as much as it could, so i did have to ask for the burner to be relit. overall a mixed bag experience for my latest visit. not in a rush to go back but at least it was delicious. read more

Waited 1.5 hours on Christmas for this comforting, soul food. I've tried a lot of their broths, but the Korean and Miso one are my TRIED AND TRUE. The wait at this location was already pretty bad but tonight was something else (more than 1.5 hours). BP switched to a new wait system that requires location services turned on for geofencing but there's a major flaw: you can't check where you're at on the waitlist. This location seemed short staffed already and it's an added pressure for workers to stop what they're doing to answer customer questions about their estimated wait time. Some customers resorted to reaching into the host station to scroll the workers' tablet to check themselves. read more

Not sure it was worth the 40-minute wait on a Saturday. * We asked for the beef soup to have no spice, but it was too spicy to eat for someone in our party. They explained that beef had spicy marinade. If so, there should be no option to order it non-spicy. * Fortunately, the miso soup offered as replacement was very tasty. * My soup started to get cold because they did not light the fuel underneath it. * They add stinky tofu by default to the house special. After I pulled out the stinky tofu, the remaining soup smelled and tasted faintly of sewage. Fermented tofu should be optional! * Finally, either the tables were too high or the seats too low. We came around 5:30 and there was already a wait. We put our name on the tablet and waited 15 minutes before being seated. The place had a bunch of seating but fills up quick. The servers were pretty attentive which is the opposite of other reviews I read on here. It also wasn't super super busy the whole time we were there. The food warmed my heart and soul!! This is such a good meal when the weather is getting cold or you're feeling under the weather. It comes with lots of meat and other toppings. You can also add whatever else you want. I loooove hot pot, and I really like this Taiwanese style, personal hot pot! It's essentially your classic hot pot except they put in everything for you in your own pot with a little fire underneath. The food tastes really good and has good spice! They have extra seasonings on the table if you want different flavors as well (extra garlic, plum, etc). The passion fruit pudding I had after was also really good, especially after the spicy food I had earlier. The place is SUPER busy; like I waited almost an hour for a table for two. This place is the best location for Boiling Point in my opinion. Though, the line is quite long if you go here (I waited ~30 minutes). I usually have good experience with this location but I wasn't on the last visit. I asked them for something but they keep forgetting that and I have to ask 3 times. That's the main reason why I put 4 stars, otherwise, I don't really have any complaints. Also, I don't know if I was imagining or not but I feel like they added more meat into every portion or what. I kept eating and there was still a lot of meat left, so that's a bonus! And they replaced the black tea with the winter melon for the drink which is a bummer because I love black tea whenever I go to BP for lunch. I have been coming here since maybe 2012 but I guess I never wrote a review for it yet. This is one of the first Boiling Point location I've visited. The other one was in San Gabriel... I like this location because it is spacious and the food quality has been consistent. Though I have to say from my recent visit, they only have the main dining area open. They closed out the back dining area and the side dining area. That's why the wait is sooooo long! I came on a Friday around 6. Actually I put my name in at 545 and not until close to 7pm were we seated (2 people). They have changed all the utensils and condiments since the last time I was here. The new ones are pretty modern and neat. I like it! Food was good and consistent! I think Boiling Point is still the best Taiwanese Hot Pot out there, in terms of individual pots. The family style one for me is Haidilao! There are so many Boiling Points copycats now but I don't think any of them can compare to BP. Boiling Point has been a staple for me because the quality and pricing have remained consistent over the years. The portion is also good compared to other places that do hotpot; I actually feel very full after finishing the entire pot and sometimes even need to take the leftovers to-go. All locations tend to get crowded during peak dining hours, but luckily, this location has more seating so it isn't too bad. I would say that service is decent--you'll get your food quickly but don't expect the workers to be super friendly and inviting. All of the hotpots are good choices, but my favorites are Milk Cream Curry and Beef. You choose to eat it with either rice or vermicelli, but some already come with vermicelli--like the beef. The spice levels are accurate, so be mindful of this. I was at "mild" for years and am now comfortable at "medium"; a reference for the medium is about the same level as the Buldak Carbonara. The table also provides a selection of sauces for you to dip in. My favorite mixture is the peanut sauce and chili oil combo. Overall a very solid spot that always satisfies my hotpot cravings! read more

I wait in line because there were people there before me. I could tell the hostess was speaking viet to worker because i literally am. She was like a small viet girl but she had veryyyy bad customer service It got me even more annoyed because we genuinely did nothing wrong. Right off the bat, the service was horrendous. I got the text that my table was ready, and stood at the front for at least 5 minutes while no staff acknowledged us. After finally being seated, we waited another 10 minutes for someone to come take our order - mind you we had to keep trying to get their attention to let them know we were ready. Literally waited another 10-15 minutes for our soup and it just sat on the robot for a couple minutes before someone came to place it on our table. Ok, just a little bit disappointed in this visit. First, let me say that the servers that helped us out were great! Friendly as usual. Food was what you would normally expect. We each got the Spicy Taiwanese hot pot with the beef bowl rice upgrade. Place was not too busy so it was really nice to grab lunch at this time. The only issue I had with my lunch is when it was time to pay the check. My wife had won a $50 voucher from a contest she entered into. When it came time to pay the bill, she showed the cashier the voucher which was emailed to her, and they did not have a way of pulling up the voucher based off of her customer number. A manager needed to assist in locating the voucher, but to no avail. My wife was quite frustrated because there was no way to utilize the voucher or contact someone who was able to resolve this situation. No fault of the manager on duty, but they're definitely needs to be a process when things like this happen. Especially when this was based off of a contest that was entered. So what initially started as a great way to have a complementary meal turned in to having to come out of pocket about $50. And this is not really about the money but about the principle of honoring the digital voucher that clearly showed it was emailed from the boiling point corporation. Again in no way shape or form am I blaming the manager on duty that helped us out but I believe there should have been parameters put in place if things like this happen to assist manager in making a decision to credit what was rightfully owed. We have been coming here for years and I've always had great experiences so this is not just one of those times you have somebody ranting about a meal and didn't get the service they thought they were owed. I just feel there needs to be a better process when it comes to situations like this, especially when the patron thinks they're getting a complementary meal based off of a contest that they won...
